(More customer reviews)I know that I have been guilty, on occasion, of poor driving etiquette,haven't we all?CARMAGEDDON 2 is a primer in the fine art of road rage.Think of it as cathartic, do what you will within this fine, gory game. Your desires to do the same on the roadways of reality MUST, of neccessity,remain unfulfilled.
Similar to the original CARMAGEDDON except withbetter graphics, the victims are polygonal models instead of sprites,there's tons more carnage to be wrested from the CARMAGEDDON universe thistime around.
Most of the cast of regular drivers are back, with a fewnew crazies to round out the crew.Vehicle upgrades are made whilst on thefly, instead of thru a separate menu as in the original.The cars Eagle& Hawk have returned along with a bevy of new killers.Look for theVolvo mining loader, a humongous yellow truck used to haul boulders. There's even a WWII Stuka dive bomber piloted/driven by looney Heinz Faustfrom the first game.
Many scenarios are included:A Disney-esquefunfair, replete with clowns, circus strongmen and elephants.A modernairport;bonus points if you can manage to wreck the jumbo jet...the trickseems to be jumping your vehicle upon the wing during takeoff.
One minorbeef, there's no onscreen camera shot of the driver's glee as in the firstgame.I really missed seeing Die Anna squeal with joy each time shesquashed a victim.Her sick peals of rapture in the first CARMAGEDDON arevery remniscent of Xenia Onatopp from the Bond film, Goldeneye. This aside,CARMAGEDDON 2 is a worthy sequel and a hell of a lot of fun for my [$]. I can't wait for the third installment!

First the game play: You are a witcher, a human fighter/mage that has been trained and mutated for the specific purpose of fighting monsters. An opposing mage attacks your castle in the prelude/tutorial and your main mission is to find him and kill him. To achieve this you will travel around the game world and complete a variety of tasks. Some essential to the game play, some optional, some simply opportunities for the witcher to earn money by carrying out his trade: Killing monsters.
There are major differenced with other games, even those using the same bioware engine. There are no choices as far as class, race or alignment. You are a witcher, period. As far as the alignment, as the game box states:
There is no good or evil, only choices.
Many of the choices will have consequences further on in the game that may force you to follow one course or the other. This leads to great replay value. You may try different alternatives or different quests in the next game.
There is a great web forum that is very helpful available in both Polish and English.
About the censorship issue; it's no big deal. There are two versions available, and both can be purchased through Amazon. The North American version has the (little, tasteful) nudity taken out, the European version available through the third party sellers is uncensored. The differences are so minor as to be trivial however if you have the North American version, there is an unofficial "patch" available through the forum that turns it into the uncensored one. Probably not worth the effort.
The graphics are really good, and the game itself is immersive. Plays like a movie.
In the expanded edition there is also a game editor, but I have not tried it.
Can't wait for the sequel.

(More customer reviews)After all the hype surrounding this game, I was expecting nothing more than vulgar British jokes with so-so gameplay.To my surprise, this is one of the best looking, best sounding, best playing, and funny games on the N64.Although it has a mature rating, I found the material to be nothing more than PG-13 stuff.However, for those of us above the 15-17 year age group, Rare has included some subtle, hilarious jokes that I'm sure younger kids would miss.This game looks very very good.Although the frame rate takes a hit in open areas, the true stars are the characters.Their animations, voices, and originality are what makes this game for me.The sound is probably the best I have ever heard from an N64 game.The tunes are reminscent of the old Warner Bros. cartoons, and the sound effects are in surround sound!From a gameplay point of view, you won't find anything new from the 3-d platform genre, but the context-sensitive pads do add a bit of a twist.In addition to the character animations, I must say that the references to movies are outstanding!I don't want to spoil any of it, but I'm sure you'll find one of your favorite movies spoofed in here.I have never gotten bored with this game, and I think this is the last good N64 game that everyone should play.

Conker: Live & Reloaded Review

When Conker's Bad Fur Day came out on the N64 back in 01, it had the unfortunate luck to come out toward the end of game development.Nintendo had started promoting their next console, the Gamecube and this fact, coupled with the fact that Conker was retailing for an ungodly $70+ made many people miss this game.What a treasure it was to be missed.

It is the first game that meshed the genre of platforming with third person shooting.It also introduced context sensitive situations where, at the push of a button, different things would happen.Both of these have become old hat now, especially the mixing of genres.You can look at Jak and Daxter for the PS2 to find that.On top of revolutions of gameplay, this was the funniest game I have ever played.

And so it's out again on the Xbox, bearing beautiful graphics, re-recorded dialogue and some shifting of difficulties.The graphics in this game are probably some of the best, if not the best, seen in an Xbox game to date.This doesn't surprise me, though, given that Rare creates beautiful games.What did surprise me was how they toned the game down as far as difficulty goes.The original game was hard, downright frustrating in some parts.Now, Rare either tamed down the difficulty (as in the Saving Private Ryan level) or completely cut out a section (as in a sequence involving underwater travel and an electric eel used to power different generators).Both sections were insanely difficult and not forgiving in the least.

Part of the problem of the first game was the pacing at the beginning.Some reviewers here are misinformed when they say the game is not a "shooter" that it is a "platformer."The beginning levels are very platform heavy, true, but give it some time.It isn't until later stages where you are facing zombies and tediz that the gameplay focus switches to a shooter type from platforming.I enjoy both parts but it would have been nice to have a better mixing of the two genres.However, since this is basically a port of that game I'm glad they didn't change it.

Along with awesome graphics, the audio portion of the game has been completely redone.The dialogue has been re-recorded (using the same people), and the music has been redone to perfection.All of this in Dolby Digital surround.

Basically, my biggest recommendation for the single player comes in the form of what is in this game.Where else, for instance, can you fight the operatic Great Mighty Poo, hit a boiler plant in his brass balls, ride a raptor, bite a caveman in the ass with said raptor, lava surf, be a bat, ride in a tank, have bullet time, hit on a cavewoman, jump on a female flower's "petals," shoot zombies, meet Death, get drunk, urinate on Fire Imps and partake in many movie parodies?Honestly, the list can go on and on.

Then, on top of this wonderful single player game, a game I have played over and over on the N64 and will probably play over and over on the Xbox, is the Live portion.

I haven't played the Live portion too much but I think people will be divided on it.Especially the console gamers used to games like Halo 2.There are six classes that range from the bazooka carrying demolitionists to the airplane flying sky jockeys.Each character has their own weapon set complete with upgrades and special abilities.All of this in an arena that is objective based instead of simply death match based.This involves large arenas to play CTF and other games similar to this.But there's strategy involved not only in how to get the flag from point A to point B but also in the classes which opens up a variety of ways to accomplish your tasks.

For instance, do you have your sky jockey transport troops into the thick of things and provide cover fire?Do you have your Sneeker troops sneak in with their up close and personal melee weapons?Or do you rain devastation with your bazookas?There's so many choices for tactical strategy.Conversely, there's a lot of room for things to go sour.I think the quality of the people playing, not only in how they play but also in personality, will determine whether this Live experience will be a fun one or a horrible one.

The Live portion seems to be more in line with PC online games, like Counter Strike, where there's a little more strategy involved.Don't get me wrong, Halo 2 has strategy but if you play Counter Strike the way most Live people play Halo 2, you wouldn't last very long.And I think that same type of strategy will carry over into Conker's Live portion.I could be wrong.I hope it's very successful because Rare put a lot of time and effort into fine tuning it.We'll see.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing you online and I hope you pick up this game because the quality inside it shines.Look to Rare to lead the way into Xbox 360.Not only with Conker but in the games they have ready for X360 Launch.Thanks, Rare, for bringing Conker to a new generation of players who probably missed out of the game the first go around.

(More customer reviews)It's finally here, a new Splinter Cell, or is it?This new game has some of the same names and faces, and even design choices of previous games, but seems to not fit the old style as much as it used to, but that's okay in many ways. While this new Splinter Cell is not quite like others, it's still good.As for the game itself, it is amazing, the gameplay is rich and fun, story interesting yet not overdone.

Needless to say, while the game by itself is amazing, it doesn't feel exactly like Splinter Cell, but in many ways that's okay, while this game could have been a remake of the Bourne game, it still plays well and is fun, and if you ever like stealth action at all, this is a must pick up for anyone.

(More customer reviews)I haven't played an FPS in a while and when I had some free time I downloaded the trial and what sold me was the multiplayer which you can play for free.The demo had 2 MP maps but the full version has 12.Most of the MP maps are 5 star. The only downside is finding a multiplayer game online is discouraging but findable.Usually there are a few people playing but when there is not I join a server then in a minute or two people start joining.Makes you think people are ot playing but they will join soon.the solo mission is really good. the demo of the solo mission has a lot of cut scenes and the levels seem small but once you get past that point on the full version there are some very clever map puzzles to figure out.It could be a bit longer on the SP.

House of the Dead: Overkill Review

(More customer reviews)House of the Dead: Overkill is the first new original game in the series for a long time.Gameplay is largely unchanged from its arcade roots, which is good because House of the Dead has always been known as a quality light-gun shooter.It is bloody, gory, violent, profane, and above all, very fun.It has solid multi-player support and even includes some 2-4 player competitive modes.

GAMEPLAY: Gameplay basically consists of pointing the Wii remote at everything that moves on screen and blasting away.It doesn't get simpler than that.Luckily, the game provides a lot of variety despite the simple mechanics. Enjoyable as a one-player game, the game is twice as fun with a second player.The multi-player mini-games are also enjoyable, but the true strength of the game lies in re-playing and trying to beat your high scores.The higher your scores, the more cash you earn.The more cash you earn, the more weapon upgrades you can buy.The better your weapons, the easier it is to get higher scores.It works really well.

GRAPHICS: This game looks good, but there are better looking games on the Wii.Some character models are rougher looking than others and some textures feel really low res.There are times where the dialogue and mouth movements on characters aren't synched up very well, but that's really minor.There are some frame rate issues at times, but overall the game looks great and none of the issues I mentioned get in the way of me enjoying the game.

LEVELS: The levels consist of seven extremely campy and cheesy Grindhouse movie themed missions.Seven levels doesn't sound like a lot, but there's a lot here.When you're done with the regular mode, you can turn on "Extra Mutants" or move on to "Director's Cut" which is basically expanded levels with increased difficulty.Or you can turn on "Dual Weild" and "Director's Cut" at the same time.I've already played many levels at least a half dozen times and it is likely they will be played several more times each.

PRESENTATION: A lot of thought has gone into the presentation of this game.While the game is horror themed, the primary focus of the dialogue is generally funny.The music is amazing.The menu presentations are phenomenally well thought out.The whole game oozes seventies style and spoofs many horror movie and Blaxploitation themes, for good or for bad.This game wallows in the cliches that have persisted in low-budget Hollywood films for decades.It is also probably the most vulgar game on the market that I can think of.One character, an obvious Samuel L. Jackson knockoff, uses the f-bomb like a comma.Talking like that would get you kicked out of even the toughest biker bar.The game developers even realize this and make fun of the excessive swearing.Oh, and something disturbing happens at the end of the last level which is so vile and disgusting I'm still kind of shocked.I honestly think the game should have been rated AO (Adults Only) instead of M (Mature).

This is probably one of the better game purchases I've made.There are a lot of light-gun style games on the Wii, but this one plays better than all the rest.The most comparable competing titles in terms of quality would probably be Link's Crossbow Training, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, or House of the Dead: 2 & 3.The only serious drawback to this game is the absurd amount of profanity and over the top vulgarity.SEGA went a little too far at times, especially near the end of the game.Way too far....

I highly recommend Overkill as a purchase or a rental to open-minded and tolerant adults looking for a thoroughly enjoyable multi-player co-op game.I generally oppose censorship in nearly all of its forms, but I also believe that there is something to be said about exercising self-restraint.If you are easily offended or even moderately offended by profanity and crude humor I have to recommend staying away from this game because it frequently crosses the line of good taste.

(More customer reviews)Let's get this out of the way first: MadWorld is an adult game. It's the most violent game to date, and there are more content discriptors on the back of the box than for Grand Theft Auto. That being said, if you are an adult Wii gamer and have longed for something bloody, visceral, and mature for your little white box, then buy this game. MadWorld is a far cry from the standard casual family affairs that are currently clogging store shelves.

Madworld puts you in the shoes of Jack, a 40-something who has been thrown into the most horrific game show in America: DeathWatch. Jack must fight and kill to survive, for he's been poisoned, and every kill gives him longer to live. However, DeathWatch is all about entertainment. You see, you may have a chainsaw and fists, but the audience wants more than you to beat up some dudes. Your challenge is to create combos by performing multiple maneuvers on an enemy.

For instance, stab a couple of road signs into a goon, put a trash can over his head, then use a spiked baseball bat to launch him into a dumpster where he'll be sliced in half. The violence is so over the top, that as bad as it sounds, it's actually really hilarious. Don't take me for a psychopath, because when you begin to dig in, you'll laugh too. Of course, there may be instances where you'll wince, but it's all in good fun.

Without going into too much detail, here's what you can expect. Scattered throughout each level are minigames called "Bloodbath Challenges." You'll be given a new way to kill people in a certain number of time and rounds. Most are fun enough to warrant multiple plays to get higher scores. Also, you'll encounter some fantastically spectacular bosses, each escalating in difficulty, and each with some truly cinematic action.

The gameplay is well done with tight analog control over Jack, and button presses for actions such as jumping and punching. Certain things are mapped to motion swings such as chainsaw attacks, special moves, and boss fights. The motion controls are simple swipes rather than tired waggle, and you'll appreciate having it done that way.

You'll notice the stark black and white graphics as a departure from most games. This game is stylistic and gorgeous. Screenshots may make everything look confusing, but trust me, the game is very clean and easy to see in action. The only color you'll see in this game is red(and lots of it). This approach really stands out. It's like nothing else you've seen. FYI, this game comes from the folks who brought us Okami, Viewtiful Joe, and Resident Evil 4. This game was placed in good hands.

The audio is fantastic as well. The soundtrack is made up of 20 full hip-hop tracks from up and coming artists. I don't care for hip-hop at all, so I turned the music way down in the options, but that's my preference. What really creates the most audio pleasure is the commentary from two announcers that follows Jack play by play.The voice actors are Greg Proops(of "Whose Line is it Anyways?" fame)and Joe DiMaggio(the voice of Bender from "Futurama" and Marcus Fenix from the Xbox 360 smash franchise, "Gears of War"). The banter goes back and forth and contains some gut-busting humor. It's incredibly raunchy and laced with f-bombs(as well as mf-bombs), but it's sounds so natural and it always gives you something to laugh at-in game.

MadWorld is what hardcore gamers and adults want for the Wii. It's unforgiving in it's nature, but for those who are old enough, the time has come. If you want more hardcore games on the Wii(and less kiddie crap), then buy this title. I'm serious. Don't even hesitate. This belongs in every adult's Wii library.

Heavy Rain Review

(More customer reviews)Overview (no major spoilers): You play several different characters in hopes to track down a serial killer that targets children. There are many twists and exciting plot reveals as the game goes on. Most of this takes place in rainy or dismal settings, so get used to your characters being wet all the time.

Issue seen on PS3Slim (others have seen same on original PS3, I dont have one to confirm):
Ok lets talk about the issue I have with the game so that we can get to the good stuff. The video is choppy. No two ways about it. I have the new PS3 Slim and the video jerks and stutters just enough to be annoying over time. You can tell its pushing the system pretty hard. Other times its smooth and beautiful. Most of the time the jerky video is not during anything fast or major, just when the character may be walking it looks like Monty Python sketch about silly walks. It doesn't tear, it merely is just a very slight lag when moving the character, 1 step is smooth 2nd step is slower, 3rd step is slower yet then back to smooth again maybe 2 steps and repeat the slow down. Its not overt and you might not notice it at all. Ok thats my major gripe, now onto the game.

Interface:
Fantastic and feels very immersive. At first the interface seems really clunky and weird until you get the button combinations down then it is very smooth and easy to figure out. Eventually you really dont have to think about it at all.This game is rewriting what interfaces are in video games and even though it is cutting edge it sometimes feels a bit like Dragon's Lair. If you find that you just cant keep up due to whatever reason you can change the difficulty setting by selecting how comfortable you are with the PS3 controller. They attempt to use the sixaxis controller like it was meant to be used but it feels a bit, eh, ok. Its not as intuitive as say, Flower[Online Game Code - Full Game].

Load times:
The load times do take a little longer than I would like, however they use it as a chance to show off the incredible facial modeling and motion capture. The characters look around and you can see the really fine attention to detail.

Adult themes:
One thing I like about this title is its frank dealing with adult themes. Its not overt sexuality, but there is nudity both male and female, and also psychological illness and struggle that most children would not be able to handle. I recommend this for people over the age of 18 and also with sound mental capacity. Reason being is, the story has some very dark imagery that is both disturbing and essential to the thriller. There are graphic depictions of drug use, and it is not pretty.

Fight sequences:
At times in the beginning you can practice fighting with doing other mundane things such as juggling and playing with one of the children in the game. It shows you through a very inventive way the skills you will need later on to fight. One thing that I like is that the producers offer this in a subtle way. Once you have this hit X now - Up - now Triangle, Now down sort of timing it becomes second nature. If you remember Dragon's Lair then you will find yourself right at home here.

Imagery:
The game is dark, its almost always raining, there are times though when you can escape through a virtual environment in the game to lush areas. It is always beautiful and quite breathtaking to see some of these vistas. After playing for several hours to see the sun was very refreshing and almost brought my spirits up. Then it was back to the case. The visuals are spot on. There are pieces of plastic caught in the barbed wire of the fences, cans roll around the street, there is dirt under and over a light switch on the wall. These are some of the great details to look for. So much attention to the small details help to make it more believable.In the beginning you are in a modern home with fantastic architecture and it looks just like a movie set. Textures, reflections, water all play very integral members of the cast. At times I forgot to move because I thought I was watching a movie, not playing one.

Vocals & Storytelling:
I am playing the US version and the voice acting is very good. I appreciate the vocals at times more than the graphics (which is saying alot). They are actual actors and not the textures guy doing a voice for the game. What you get is a compelling story told through many peoples viewpoints. Think Steven King or Dean Koontz with regard to many characters telling the whole story. This is not a hero quest layout and often I had trouble finding who to root for. That in itself makes it a very powerful story. I never felt that the story was out of hand or too deep to grasp. I really felt as I was integral in many ways to what was going on the screen.

Replayability:

There are so many different ways to go in this story that it could mean infinite replayability, although I doubt its that much. Even so it could be like 200+ different ways to play it meaning it is a very good value. Just do what you think the characters would do and live with the decisions, or go back and try again.

>> Motion capture is some of the best I have seen, only sometimes seems too stiff (like going up stairs)
>> Interface is easy to use once you get the basics down
>> You can change the difficulty based on how fast you think you can pull off the moves, so it doesn't penalize older players with slower reaction times.
>> A true adult game (mild sex), but with real life issues and themes.
>> Gritty and holds no punches

Cons:
<< PS3 Slim with plenty of HD space had jerky motion and felt a bit pushed
<< Harkens back to old school movie games with the controls based on timing and buttons (its ok not much of a con but thought I would mention it)

Overall this game will touch you in many ways. It is both wonderful to look at, yet you will find yourself wanting to look away when the bad stuff happens. You become very attached to each character and the smallest decisions you make may change the whole conclusion of the game. Matter of fact there is no guaranteethat anyone will solve the case, so, be wise with your choices.
