We came off a big video game hiatus to play this game. We're grown-ups who appreciate action gaming but aren't crazy about blood and guts violence - Rayman 3 is a great solution.Psychadelic, funny, challenging, with lots of puzzles and skill levels and just plain fun sequences to break up the monster-busting shoot 'em up.DID NOT RUN REAL WELL ON 10.2.Lots of annoying seizing up on memory at important points in the game.
Perfect for a chill evening at home.

PSP Star Wars Battlefront Renegade Squadron Entertainment Pack - Ceramic White Review

PSP Star Wars Battlefront Renegade Squadron Entertainment Pack - Ceramic White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
So I have owned the Sony PSP Star Wars Battlefront Renegade Squadron Entertainment Pack - Ceramic White for about 3 weeks now.I never owned the original PSP, and mostly got this for "remote play" capabilities with the PS3 (e.g. remote access to your PS3 using the PSP and a wifi connection).Simply put, the PSP is AWESOME.Seriously.

The Good:

1. Aesthetics/Design/Construction.
The white slim looks and feels great.I briefly owned the black slim before returning it and getting the white one.The black looked slick, but it was a real fingerprint magnet. The white looks better, very sleek and clean.Fingerprints do not show up on it much either, which is great. The silver slim was just too cheap looking, like the silver was spray painted on, so I never considered it.Nice how the back is totally flat also, unlike the old psp.The non-spring door battery cover is fine.I was worried after reading reviews of how it is cheap feeling and fragile, but it's just fine.It is easy to open/close, gives a nice "snap" when it opens or closes, won't break if you're not rough with it (care is required), and eliminates worries about the spring door mechanism from malfunctioning.I never had an original PSP 1000, but the slim feels solid and not cheap at all to me.

2. Screen.
Very bright, nice 480x272 resolution.Movies and games just look great on it.

3. Music.
MP3s (and WMA supported also) sound great on the PSP.The visualization has about six different "patterns" that are interesting. The interface looks good, better in fact than the music player interface on the PS3, and features all the important info, and can be toggled on/off also.Recent firmware now allows for music to be played back while viewing photos.

4. Video.
Ability to run full 480x272 video off of files stored on the memory stick was a contentious issue in the first couple years, as Sony had evidently crippled video file on the memory stick to a max resolution of 320x240 in order to "encourage" users to buy overpriced UMDs.Several months ago, Sony saw the error of its ways and relented to user requests and now the PSP is fully able to play back 480x272 (the PSP's native resolution) video off of videos stored on your memory stick.Using the freeware "psp video 9," you can create video files ranging from 700mb (~1.5hrs video) to 1gb (~2hrs) that look and sound as good as a UMD movie.

Functionality is great too, with the newer firmwares you can search through your video file for scenes by varying intervals (1,2, or 5 minute), which is great since your own video files will be a single file. This is really not to be underestimated in its usefulness, plus it is really cool to use!

5. Photos.
The photo viewer is pretty cool as well, but could use a bit more customization. You can view standard file types (jpg, gif, bmp, and tiff I believe) and have a few slideshow and zoom options. The background of photos that are not 480x272 resolution is white, which cannot be changed to another color (like black), which is not a big deal but I hope Sony will allow you to use a black background in the future.

6. Games.
This is of course the main feature of the PSP.I wasn't expecting the games to be too good, but there are quite a few very good games. So far, my favorites are: Silent Hill Origins, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty/Vice City Stories, NBA 08, Outrun 2006, Burnout Legends, FIFA 08, Madden 08, Legend of Heroes, Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron, Daxter, Wipeout Pure, and Siphon Filter: Dark Mirror. You would be amazed at the graphics, gameplay, story, audio (music/voiceovers) this little system is capable of!Some of these are just great games.

7. Remote Play/Location Free Player.
This is the original reason I bought the PSP, to remotely (via wifi) connect to my PS3 and access the music, video, photos, and even games on it.When it works, it is just really really cool. The PS3 interface shows up on the PSP screen (which can be adjusted for quality based on the bandwidth you want to set it to -- there are five different settings), and you can play movies, trailers, photos, audio, even some games (like Lair!) on your PSP.I haven't used Location Free player yet, but basically it is like using a Slingbox on the PSP, so that you can watch TV, access your DVR, etc., on your PSP using a wifi connection.I plan to try it someday for sure.

8. Internet.
You can use the browser to surf the internet on the PSP when you have access to wifi.It works well enough, and the key input system is pretty decent for a non-QWERTY/touchscreen input system.

9. Functionality/Performance.
The much maligned battery life, is really not that bad at all.Using the PSP to listen to mp3s, watch videos, play games, I get about 3-4 hours of usage (depending on how much video/games I watch/play), which gets me through average usage easily. For longer trips, I have the 2200mAh (oem) extended battery which works great and will give me roughly 6-8 hours of usage.Incredible.The battery will stick out the back, but you can go to dealextreme-dot-com and buy a bigger battery cover (black or white) for less than four dollars.Sony will evidently release an official extended battery kit with a bigger battery cover in black and silver (no white though, booo!) for about 45 dollars sometime in the next month or so.

During gameplay, I have never had any slowdown of framerate or crashing EVER.Not once on over 14 games that I now own.Great performance.Videos and music also perform flawlessly.Load times are not that bad, and don't bother me much as it is only in the beginning mostly, and so gameplay during games is very quick.

The XMB (cross media bar) user interface is fantastic and so easy to use and rather stylish as well.Love using it.Video out to your TV is a cool feature that I have not yet used.

The Not-so-good:

1. Fingerprint magnet (black PSP).White one has no issues with this.
2. Cannot change background color to black when viewing photos.
3. Wifi is 802.11b only, no 802.11g (faster) support... yet.
4. Remote play is hit or miss regarding connectivity.Still not easy to connect to the PS3.Hopefully, Sony will improve upon this with updates.Remote on/off of the PS3 works well enough though.
5. Soon to be released extended battery kit will not include a white cover. No biggie, just go to dealextreme-dot-com to find a white one from Hong Kong (cheap too).
6. Limited audio/video codec support, including no DIVX/XVID support yet for videos or AAC for audio. But using PSP Video 9 (freeware) to convert videos works just fine to convert videos of most types into viewable 480x272 (or less if you want) mp4 video.
7. UMD spinning noise is a bit loud/harsh on the ears, but luckily it spins rarely and usually at the beginning of the game or rarely during gameplay (e.g. loading new levels, etc.).
8. Volume on audio/video playback from memory stick is TOO QUIET!Setting "dynamic normalization" under "audio" settings helps it get louder, but still it's too soft. The volume from the speakers is okay but I always use headphones so I cannot really judge it.
9. Expensive assessories.Getting a couple extended batteries, a battery charger, a nice protective case, a screen protector, some UMD cases, headphones, wrist strap, a few games, a nice memory stick pro duo (I got the 8gb one -- you won't want less than that), and the price quickly jumps up to almost PS3 range (easily over 500 dollars).
10. Cool accessories only available in Japan, including a camera, GPS, and DMB (mobile television).I don't really miss those though. Bottom Line:

As you can judge from my lengthy review, I love my new white PSP slim.It is so fun, versatile, and cool (remote play will impress your friends and family) that you will not regret plopping down some serious cash to build up your PSP slim system!

Playstation 2 Guitar Hero Wireless Guitar Review

Playstation 2 Guitar Hero Wireless Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Well the guitar worked really well for the most part. Same size as the SG guitar that comes with the older games. Wireless is not very laggy and it has good range. Only complaint here is that the buttons seem to stick a bit more than the other guitar and they feel like they are made cheaper, but they worked good enough to use even on expert.

So it worked great for a month, and then one day it wouldn't connect to the receiver. I tried and tried and it would not connect. Tried everything I could think of including replacing batteries, resetting it, resetting the PS2, and even turning off my WiFi router and cordless phones. Nothing could make it connect, and in the rare case it did it would not hold the connection. I did not have a receipt so could not get a replacement on warranty so I decided to open it up and tinker with it a bit and here is where I found the problem. The wireless board is separate from the rest of the internal circuit board, and instead of being held on securely with a screw or such IT IS HELD ON SOLELY BY THE DATA PINS. I just barely pushed the wireless board with my finger and it easily bent back at a 45 degree angle from the other board. Most defiantly one of these pins had broken loose and caused the connection problems. This is very bad design. Since I have no soldering skills I had to throw it away.

If it wasn't for the bad design of the internals I would recommend this guitar. Until they fix the problems (maybe they have with the new style GH3 guitars) I would avoid these completely.

Saitek PC Gamer's Keyboard Review

Saitek PC Gamer's Keyboard
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this keyboard despite some of the less than enthusiastic reviews I had read, and I couldn't be happier with it.I have no idea what those other reviewers are complaining about. The keyboard is nice and heavy with a detachable wrist rest, and of course the ever popular blue, backlit keys. The board is very stylish, but more importantly, it works flawlessly.Despite what you may have read in another review, the board DOES allow you to use the delete key to access the bios menu at boot up. It is no different than any other keyboard in that respect. It is also completely compatible with Windows XP SP2.Someone else mentioned that you couldn't use the separate command pad and the main keyboard at the same time.I don't know what their problem is, I use both the keyboard and command pad at the same time wihtout the slightest problem. The combination makes this the ideal keyboard for playing games such as first person shooters, as you can programme the keypad with up to 27 commands (9 buttons with three shift modes).Programming using the Saitek software is practically a no brainer (despite what others might have you believe) you simply open the profiler, click on the key you want to assign a function to, and then click on the key on the keyboard which corresponds to that function. It's no different that any other key mapping system. The one drawback is that, as mentioned elsewhere, there is no LED or any other indicator to show what shift mode you are in.It would have been useful had Saitek put the same blue LEDs around the shift mode keys and made it so that they would light up when that shift mode is selected. To me that is not a big enough of a problem to deduct a star for.I used a Logitech Elite keyboard prior to this, and the Saitek is far superior; if for no other reason than that with the Logitech you have to take an extra step to push a button to turn the I touch function on or off, and you have to push yet another button to lock or unlock the function keys.It was a real pain to be using a propgramme that made use of the function keys, and go to use the function buttons only to find that you forgot to unlock them first. No such problem with the Saitek. If you need special functions, you simply assign them to the command pad; so you have your special functions and your regular function keys work as they always have as well. All in all, the Saitek Gamer's Keyboard is a good, solid, fully functional keyboard that looks every bit as good as it works.

Wii 2000 Points Card Review

Wii 2000 Points Card
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First things first: the Wii Points Card allows you to purchase classic video games from the NES, Super NES, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, and Turbo Grafix 16 consoles and download them onto your Wii console.Nintendo has many great old games available already and is adding more regularly (generally about once a week).

Basic information:100 Wii Points roughly equals 1 dollar. You should never pay more for a Wii Points card because you can buy the points directly from Nintendo at a rate of 100 to the dollar. On the flip side if you can get these cards cheaper (and sometimes you can buy them at a bit of a discount) you get a great deal.

What's available:There are new games being released all the time.I have a wishlist a mile long for these games, but some of my favorites include Zelda, the original Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden, Donkey Kong Country, Golden Axe, Super Mario Brothers and Super Mario World, and Mario 64.Again--almost every week there's something new.A current list is available on Nintendo's website.

Game Cost:The cost for classic games varies a little but is fairly uniform.NES games start at 500 points (at this time there is only one game that I'm aware of for the NES that costs more). Most Super NES, Genesis, and TG 16 games cost around 800 points, and N64 games run about 1000.Considering a nostalgia trip used to sometimes cost as much as the original game (the original Zelda used to run about $50, and that's if you had an old Nintendo to run it on) these games are a great deal.

Why buy the card?: I purchase most of my points directly from Nintendo without using these cards. So what purpose do they serve?Simple--they're great for gifts.I love that these come in 2000 point increments--it means my friends and family have a cheap gift idea for me and can give me something I'll really enjoy rather than trying to pick out a game for me themselves. And of course if you've got a gift card or discount for your favorite retailer you can pick them up cheaper. It's a great alternative to just buying the points on your Wii.

Overall this is a great way to get your hands on some classic games. You may prefer to buy them directly on the Wii (as I do), but keep this option in mind when special occasions roll around and people are asking what to get you!

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 Review

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The legend continues as Activision brings out it's newest installment in the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4. Unlike it's predeccessor (don't think I spelled that right), the latest installment has a HUGE gap between #4 and #3. In this version, when you start career mode there is NO time clock what so ever! You are free to roam the level as much as you like, but when you stop and ask or talk to someone, they give you an objective to complete, THEN the time clock starts. The goals varies, sometimes it's to stop a security guard from busting all your skate buddies to copying another skater's tricks to the infamous S-K-A-T-E or C-O-M-B-O goal. And the level design is VERY realistic. no more is there a perfectly smooth sidewalk, now you can see that there are scratches, bumps and even scrapes and openings in the sidewalk. The levels also are very realistic as well. There won't be halfpipes and ramps all in the middle of the road. For example, in the College level, there are no (like I said) halfpipes or ramps or rails right smack in the middle of the street. The game is based on real life. And when you get all level goals for a level with a character, they bring in their own ramp or halfpipe or object to add to the level. And the cheats...well you have to find them out yourself. To sum this game up, a perfect ten, no flaws what so ever. If you want a good sports game this year for Christmas, this is it. Strap on your helmet and pads, it's gonna be a bumpy ride...

This little game exceeded all of my expectations and then some. For any fan of Walt Disney World, this is paradise! Each race track is base on an area of the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, and the environments are simply outstanding.I found myself enjoying watching my wife play the game so I could watch the scenery without worrying about having to drive!!!
You will smile and laugh throughout the entire game as familiar landmarks stream by you while you race various vehicles (you drive a Doom Buggy through the Haunted Mansion). It is also worth mentioning that the soundtracks that accompany each race track are pulled from their respective attractions which can be really funny. This game will bring back memories of all of your trips to Disney. The gameplay is excellent as you will need to complete many different tasks to complete the game.I've waited a long time for the release of this game, and it was worth it.Tremendous fun.

DJ Hero Bundle with Turntable Review

DJ Hero Bundle with Turntable
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As far as innovation...this game trumps ALL other iterations of music games out there. It is truly amazing the boundaries it pushed the PS2 to a PS3|X-Box level with game play...and as far as graphics, those of that own the "Hero" series and/or "Rockband", we can hardly see the graphics of the background or action because we are so focused on Red, Yellow, Orange, Blue and Green??!! The graphics on the PS2 are, however, really good.

So why is this game so boring?

I think that after the first 3-4 songs and the carpal tunnel starts to set in...a wee bit of monotony begins. Unlike Guitar Hero, there is a restraint to your 'expressing yourself'. That IS, unless you have a table set up so you can look like your a DJ. The mixes are SICK. I did find myself groovin' to a few of them...but, as mentioned in the first line...monotony. Guitar Hero, Singstar, Dance Dance Revolution or Rockband...I am jumping all around the house and getting completely into it. With the DJ...I am happy I completed songs with great scores...but with little fanfare.

OVERALL- This game is AWESOME. Concept, execution, innovation, effects, graphics...all crammed into one of the final releases of games for a, pretty much, defunct system. I'm a die hard PS2 owner and realize that Sony needs to push it out the way to make room for PS3...so I am definitely appreciative that Activision gave us one more 'Hero' concept before it said goodbye (See that RockBand??!!) to a STILL, very good gaming system. FUN- however, is average. This could JUST be me, but, I felt like the other 'Hero' franchise is Mom/Grandma's home cooking. The food that NO ONE else can get right like she can. DJ is the restaurant version. You order it, it looks, tastes and smells good...but it doesn't have the same affect nor is the restaurant something you would rush out and tell your friends.

Like the music that inspired it, DJ Hero allows players to experience music in a new revolutionary way through through its game-specific controller. Included with the DJ Hero software, the DJ Hero controller is a combination turntable and mixer that immerses you into authentic DJ culture allowing you to scratch, cross-fade, and beat match. The turntable half of the controller features three color-coated buttons used to direct action during gameplay and a realistically rotating turntable. The opposite end of the controller contains the mixer controls in the form of a lateral fader allowing for switching between tracks and mixing, a knob for additional effects and a button for capturing "euphoria," a star power-like point bonus.

In addition, the mixer portion of the controller detaches to accommodate left-handed players and contains an out of the way compartment holding a D-pad and conventional controller buttons for easy console navigation. Taken together, both halves of the controller allow players to customize their mix with a variety of effects and samples transforming a face in the crowd into the life of the party.

Gameplay
Gameplay in DJ Hero is reminiscent to games in the Guitar Hero series. Musical prompts stream towards players on one of three color-coded ribbons; red and blue which correspond to the two tracks that the player is able to simultaneously or individually manipulate, as well as a red one between these two, used to insert samples. In addition to hitting individual notes and samples, players are also challenged to scratch on command by pressing the appropriate button for the track and sliding the turntable up or down as indicated on the ribbon. The game also provides players with a chance to turn back the clock on earlier action via its "Rewind" feature. This ability is monitored via the rewind meter that levels higher with successful play, and and when full allows the player to rewind the song to fix errors in their earlier performance. The reward for precision is the build up of points, which can be temporarily doubled via euphoria power with the push of a button on the mixer end of the controller.

Rule the Hottest Parties
In the tradition of Guitar Hero, which brought gamers into the world of rock ‘n' roll, DJ Hero places players in the DJ booth at some of the hottest clubbing scenes from around the globe. Party in venues reminiscent of real world locales from around the globe including an ultra plush and sexy Hollywood Hills style mansion, to an open air beach club in Ibiza.

Play Modes
Although DJ Hero contains engrossing single player game options, including a career mode, much of the action in the game surrounds its wealth of multiplayer modes. These include both competitive and cooperative modes: including DJ vs. DJ, DJ + DJ and DJ + Guitar.

Set List
The DJ Hero set list is constructed of 100 songs, crafted into more than 80 two-song DJ mixes. These mixes are the product of both the creative talents of internationally known DJs such as DJ Shadow, DJ Z-Trip, DJ AM and Daft Punk and the game development team. All songs used are new to the Guitar Hero family of games and are pulled from a wide array of genres, including pop, grunge, soul, R&B, techno, hip hop, and house.

Jak X Combat Racing Review

Jak X Combat Racing
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This game was really surprisingly good. I must admit ,at first I thought this game wouldn't be really good, but it really exceeded my expectations. The game begins when jak , daxter and their friends are invited for the reading of Krew's will. (Krew was the big fat guy from jak 2 .)When they get there, they meet his daughter, Rayn. she pours everyone some drinks , so they'll have a toast for krew. After they all finish drinking, Rayn plays Kre's will. He appears as a hologram , and he informs everyone that the drinks they just had have been poisoned!(He even poisoned his own daughter). He says that his associates will give them the antidote only if they win the Kras city championship race (since it was his dream to win this championship), so jak and his friends are forced to race for him.

Now , through the entire game , you don't just drive one car. There are 12 cars you can drive , and you can fully customize them , and replace their body parts. You can change their front fenders, rear fenders , trunks , wheels , and more. You can earn more body parts by winning races. You can even change the color of your car, and tune it's performance.

One good addition to the game is the expanded secrets menu. You can get tons of secrets(by buying them with money you get from winning races),such as extra accesories for your car , extra movies, extra characters to drive with , etc. It's all just real awesome.

There are three modes you can play , multiplayer (which includes online and local modes),adventure, in which you play as jak and advance through the storyline , and exhibition , where you can shoose different characters to play with(all of which have different attributes and characteristics) , and you can race in any track and in any type of race for money.

The jak series has always been known for their variety. And this aspect returns here too. The game has normal races , where you have to just finish a number of laps around the track , but there are also tons of other game modes , like death match , where you just have to destroy the other racers, sport hunt , where you have to kill a bunch of monsters , death race, where you have to shoot as many cars as you can(not real racers, but weak smaller cars) and many , many more.

Now , about the pick-ups. There are 4 types of pick-ups here. One is health , which simply heals you car. The other is turbo , which let's you use a turbo boost . The third is a weapon power up which lets you use forward - facing weapons , such as machine guns , missiles , etc. And the last one is backward - facing weapons , such as mines , oil streeks , etc.

This game is a really awesome game. Don't worry about the fact it's a racing game.

Naruto: Clash Of Ninja Revolution 2 Review

Naruto: Clash Of Ninja Revolution 2
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I think this is a worthy upgrade to the original Clash of Ninja Revolution for Wii.There are several characters that have not been seen in other Clash of Ninja games, either for the Wii or GameCube.

There are also some new features, including the Tag Team fights, where you and an opponent can switch between 2 characters in a fight.Specific pairs of characters can do combo specials that are really cool if you're familiar with the characters in the anime or manga.

The controls can be as complex or as simple as you want, which is one of the more innovative features of this series. You can use GameCube controllers, Wii Classic Controllers, Wii Remotes and the Wii Nunchuck. You can also take advantage of some advanced controls, like the new Hand Signs, or just skip those and still be competitive.

While I think this game is very fun and love what's new, I wish they would have done a bit more upgrading to the basic engine of the game. The style and overall structure of the game hasn't change much since the days on GameCube.I feel like there is room for improvement, but overall this is a solid game that will provide a lot of replay value.

This game, as are all of the Pajama Sam games, is great! It is humorous, educational and entertaining. The puzzels are a little harder than thefirst two games, but not beyond the suggested age range for the game.Bothof my kids (10 and 5) loved it.
In this game Pajama Sam has to help thepeace delegates of the food pyramid get to the peace summit. The healthyfoods and sweet foods can't seem to get along together. Some of thedelegates are stuck in various predicaments and Sam has to rescue them. Sam's off-the-wall humor is as snappy as ever.
I have to admit, I alsoenjoyed this game and often wonder why adult games aren't this fun.Ihighly recommend it.

Freddi Fish 5: The Case of the Creature of Coral Cove Review

Freddi Fish 5: The Case of the Creature of Coral Cove
Average Reviews:

First things first: the suggested age range for all Freddi Fish games (3-8)is very misleading, no matter how smart you think that your 4 y.o. is. Everybody thinks that their very bright 4 y.o. should be able to enjoy the game- and if they don't, it's a problem with the game. The fact is that it takes until 5 / early 6 for both the spatial concepts & (esp.) the level of perserverence needed to get developed enough to enjoy the game. And then they enjoy it hugely. Our girls (now turning 6 & 7) enjoyed this Freddi hugely, as they have the others.

NBA 2K8 Review

NBA 2K8
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
NBA 2K7 was arguably the greatest basketball game ever created. The gameplay was simply no match for NBA Live's gameplay, which was downright horrible.Well, just when I though 2K Sports couldn't make a better basketball game than last years, this game came out.One of the big problems with NBA 2K7 was the graphics.A lot of the players didn't really resemble their real life counterpart.Well, that is no longer the case.2K8's graphics are the best I've seen yet, and all the players look so realistic that you actually believe that you're out there with them sweating on the court.

Of course, graphics aren't everything, right?Well, 2K8 has even better gameplay than last years. The shot stick still rocks the house, but there are also a lot of new additions to each game you play. After each game, you can watch the top three plays of the game. But that's not the coolest part. After each game, you can watch a highlight real of any player during the game.If you're playing as Kobe Bryant and you score 50 points against your opponent, then after the game you can watch each amazing play made by Kobe during the game.Sweet, right?

Well, this game also has a very fun and very realistic Sprite Slam Dunk Contest. This should keep you busy for hours, and it isn't even a part of the main game. If you're not good a dunking, there is a dunk school that can teach you how to emulate LeBron on his jams. There is also a really cool 3-Point Shootout.

So, if you're debating whether or not you should go with the hoops king 2K8, or try NBA Live 08, then I would HIGHLY suggest you get 2K8.Even though Live 08 is greatly improved upon, it still has a ways to go to catch up with 2K Sports and their basketball genius.

Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai Another Road Review

Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai Another Road
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
A little over a year later after the first Dragonball Z Shin Budokai was released, Dimps graces us with yet another game aptly titled Dragonball Z Shin Budokai Another Road. Named so because, with this game, it explores a different universe untouched by the manga, anime and/or the movies. According to the original plot, Trunks from the future helps defeat Perfect Cell in our present day, and also prevents Goku from dying of a heart ailment. With peace restored once more, Trunks goes back to the future. Future Trunks as we all know, would face Majin Buu, Babidi and Dabura later on. Dragonball Z Shin Budokai Another Road wraps up this story by placing gamers in the role of Trunks. Players fly around the map looking for enemy encounters &, while doing so, must defend cities being attacked by those enemies. This, in itself, adds a whole new strategic element to the game. Each stage you clear earns you Zenie(DBZ currency) which can be used to buy customization cards. Those cards build up the stats and abilities of each individual character. These cards, ultimately, make you become more powerful on the battlefield and help differentiate one character from another. You start out with Trunks but, as you progress, the game allows you to select other Dragonball Z characters. There are 24 characters in all. Upon first look at the game, you'd probably say that much hasn't changed from the first game to this game but, if you look closer, you'll see alot of subtle changes Dimps made to the game that makes it a more robust game. The AI has been improved a great deal from the first game(no longer will it be a cakewalk..now- you've got a good challenge)- They made it to where you can tweak the camera to play in a more Budokai Tenkaichi fashion(which is really going over well with DBZ fans)- The backgrounds of the battlefields you fight on are more alive now with lightining, molten lava and whatnot flashing & moving in the distance- and, lastly, everyones' specials are more flashier & more hyper than before. Hardcore Dragonball Z Shin Budokai fans will see alot more for their buck with this installment. This series seems to be getting embraced by us DBZ fans quite well which makes me wonder why Atari hasn't decided to release other DBZ licensed games for the Playstation Portable(like Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi, Super Dragonball Z & Sagas). Regardless, I'm sure we'll see another Shin Budokai game in the near future. If they can make it as good as Shin Budokai Another Road or better, I'll definitely be there.

TimeSplitters 2 Review

TimeSplitters 2
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
TimeSplitters was a popular game when it came out. It took the normal shooter game and added in changes in environment - you moved through time to persue your enemies. TimeSplitters 2 expands this with better graphics, sound, and multiplay features.
The plot isn't much to get enthusiastic about. An evil enemy race is trying to wipe out humanity, and they have a time portal. They run back through time with crystals and you have to go back into each time period to track down the crystal and do other miscellaneous tasks while you're there.
The graphics are indeed nice, from flaming torches to dreary sewers and polished marble floors. But when you compare them to the likes of Halo or Kingdom Hearts, they're a bit old looking. There aren't shadows. The backgrounds aren't very dynamic. You shoot walls and get tiny holes, unlike the deformable terrain of other current games. The textures seem flat and a bit repetitive.
They did make an attempt to have the sounds match the eras, with lovely chanting during Notre Dame and twanging during the Western era. Even so, you don't feel 'immersed' in the game. Characters don't make noise when they walk. There isn't really any ambient noise.
The weapon choices are fun and time-appropriate. In Chicago of 1932, you've got Tommy Guns. In Notre Dame you're playing with shotguns. So there's always new variety as you go from level to level.
The missions aren't very challenging compared to other games that are out. They are extremely linear and there's rarely any brainpower involved. There's side missions like "blow up file cabinets along the way" or "shoot out whiskey barrels". There's usually a rationale given but it's pretty flimsy.
There are other 'mini-games' that you can play. Do things like fight off the living dead, smash the glass and so on. Try to get the best times to get high rankings.
Where the game really shines is multiplayer. There are HUNDREDS of characters to choose from in multiplay, and tons of ways to play that you unlock as you go. There are the standards like deathmatch as well as more interesting variations. The game is savvy about game hook-ups and LANs to open the game up to as many players as possible for your system.
In addition, TimeSplitters 2 comes with a MAP EDITOR. This is something rarely seen in a console game!! You can choose from a beginner or advanced mode and design your own maps, and then have your friends play through it! Customize the tile set, bot placements, choose weapons, music, you name it. You can create your own full maps and play a new game every day!
A great game if you're into multiplayer or map creation, and a fun shooter if you're not too particular about graphics or sounds.

Freddie and Luther go to help out on Freddie's aunt's ranch only to find out that her hogfish have been rustled. This starts the adventure that sends Freddie and Lutherinto the deep blue sea to find the missinghogfish. Through interactive play and logical thinking my son had a greattime trying to find the hogs. Like all Humongous Ent. software these gamespromote logic, and deductive reasoning in a fun way. My son loves all theirgames! This game is a little more challenging than previous releases ofFreddie, but but not so much that my son wanted to give up. I feel it was agreat confidence builder for my son to figure out the puzzles and play thedifferent "games within the game". You won't regret getting thisone! Try the Pajama Sam series or Putt Putt!
