(More customer reviews)I have to say that i am completely byaste with this game as i have a thing for the old Blade. So in fairness i shall try to write a fair review without going into too much of my obsession with the man with fangs they call the Daywalker.
The game has faults, lets say it and lots of them. Graphcailly this is 5 years behind the times if not more and the repative nature of the game can irk some but its just so much fun to play.
For me this is gameplay over style and i really enjoyed the GAMEPLAY here.The very different combat system is quite good and takes very little time to adjust to and allows you to kick vamps from all directions.
I mean there aint much too it. Walk in a room and fight/or blast/or cut yah way through vamp baddies. Do this over and over again. However, some of the scenes are great. As mentioned one of the most memorable sets from this game is the disco and its a pity there ain't more like this cause it rocked. I guarrentee this will be yah favourite part of the game as you hear the music get louder and louder as you approach the floor.
All the AI disintercrates when killed like the movie and Blades one-liners are there.
The storylines (there all mission based) arent that exciting and Whistler gets annoying but once again the gameplay outweighs these few nuisnaces.
I won't say anymore cause its all been said but if you can pick this game up cheap do it cause its fun and you can play it once, put it away for a couple of months and then get it out again.
A faulty game but hell, its fun, has some of the Blade coolness and has some great music that will have you humming as you play...
So yeah, it has its faults but tis fun with a captial F. If u want graphically enhanced gameplay get Splinter Cell or Metal Gear Soild 2. If you want some fun without all the extras get Blade 2.

(More customer reviews)The thing that's realy great about this set is that you get three CDs worth of games.You get the original Dark Forces II game that has quite abit of gameplay, PLUS the Mysteries of the Sith game that is almost as longas Jedi Knight.For the price you get a LOT of playing time.
Jedi Knightfollows the path of Kyle Katarn, an ex-Imperial soldier turned rebel.Hisfather was murdered and as the game progresses you learn the truth aboutyour family and learn the ways of the force.
One of the interestingtwists of Jedi Knight is that your alignment towards the dark side or thelight side is determined by how many innocent people you kill or by certainmoral decisions you make as the game progresses.You shape your owndestiny and at the end of it all your decisions determine how the storyturns out.
On the second game, Mysteries of the Sith, you primarialy playMara Jade... although you also spend time in Kyle Katarn's shoes onceagain.Much likes its predecessor you find yourself once again goingagainst the Empire before they destroy a Rebel base and ruin all hope theRebellion has against defeating the Imperial forces.From there you embarkon a search to find the lost Kyle Katarn and find your way through anamazingly twisted and trap ridden Sith Temple.
The thing that sets thesegames apart from most first person shooters is that you do more than runaround and kill things.You have to make moral decisions, solve puzzles,and use tactics to your advantage.By the first hour or so of gameplayyou'll easily lose yourself.
And finally, as an extra special bonus thereis a hidden level on the Mysteries of the Sith CD of Cloud City that allowsyou to follow in Luke's footsteps from Empire strikes Back.

The range of missions is great, and you can practiseyour skills in the simulator, or the pilot proving grounds. My onlycriticism is that some of the early missions are very tricky, and thedifficulty does not always seem to increase in logical order.

PSP Star Wars Battlefront Renegade Squadron Entertainment Pack - Ceramic White Review

(More customer reviews)So I have owned the Sony PSP Star Wars Battlefront Renegade Squadron Entertainment Pack - Ceramic White for about 3 weeks now.I never owned the original PSP, and mostly got this for "remote play" capabilities with the PS3 (e.g. remote access to your PS3 using the PSP and a wifi connection).Simply put, the PSP is AWESOME.Seriously.

The Good:

1. Aesthetics/Design/Construction.
The white slim looks and feels great.I briefly owned the black slim before returning it and getting the white one.The black looked slick, but it was a real fingerprint magnet.The white looks better, very sleek and clean.Fingerprints do not show up on it much either, which is great.The silver slim was just too cheap looking, like the silver was spray painted on, so I never considered it.Nice how the back is totally flat also, unlike the old psp.The non-spring door battery cover is fine.I was worried after reading reviews of how it is cheap feeling and fragile, but it's just fine.It is easy to open/close, gives a nice "snap" when it opens or closes, won't break if you're not rough with it (care is required), and eliminates worries about the spring door mechanism from malfunctioning.I never had an original PSP 1000, but the slim feels solid and not cheap at all to me.

2. Screen.
Very bright, nice 480x272 resolution.Movies and games just look great on it.

3. Music.
MP3s (and WMA supported also) sound great on the PSP.The visualization has about six different "patterns" that are interesting.The interface looks good, better in fact than the music player interface on the PS3, and features all the important info, and can be toggled on/off also.Recent firmware now allows for music to be played back while viewing photos.

4. Video.
Ability to run full 480x272 video off of files stored on the memory stick was a contentious issue in the first couple years, as Sony had evidently crippled video file on the memory stick to a max resolution of 320x240 in order to "encourage" users to buy overpriced UMDs.Several months ago, Sony saw the error of its ways and relented to user requests and now the PSP is fully able to play back 480x272 (the PSP's native resolution) video off of videos stored on your memory stick.Using the freeware "psp video 9," you can create video files ranging from 700mb (~1.5hrs video) to 1gb (~2hrs) that look and sound as good as a UMD movie.

Functionality is great too, with the newer firmwares you can search through your video file for scenes by varying intervals (1,2, or 5 minute), which is great since your own video files will be a single file.This is really not to be underestimated in its usefulness, plus it is really cool to use!

5. Photos.
The photo viewer is pretty cool as well, but could use a bit more customization.You can view standard file types (jpg, gif, bmp, and tiff I believe) and have a few slideshow and zoom options.The background of photos that are not 480x272 resolution is white, which cannot be changed to another color (like black), which is not a big deal but I hope Sony will allow you to use a black background in the future.

6. Games.
This is of course the main feature of the PSP.I wasn't expecting the games to be too good, but there are quite a few very good games.So far, my favorites are: Silent Hill Origins, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty/Vice City Stories, NBA 08, Outrun 2006, Burnout Legends, FIFA 08, Madden 08, Legend of Heroes, Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron, Daxter, Wipeout Pure, and Siphon Filter: Dark Mirror.You would be amazed at the graphics, gameplay, story, audio (music/voiceovers) this little system is capable of!Some of these are just great games.

7. Remote Play/Location Free Player.
This is the original reason I bought the PSP, to remotely (via wifi) connect to my PS3 and access the music, video, photos, and even games on it.When it works, it is just really really cool.The PS3 interface shows up on the PSP screen (which can be adjusted for quality based on the bandwidth you want to set it to -- there are five different settings), and you can play movies, trailers, photos, audio, even some games (like Lair!) on your PSP.I haven't used Location Free player yet, but basically it is like using a Slingbox on the PSP, so that you can watch TV, access your DVR, etc., on your PSP using a wifi connection.I plan to try it someday for sure.

8. Internet.
You can use the browser to surf the internet on the PSP when you have access to wifi.It works well enough, and the key input system is pretty decent for a non-QWERTY/touchscreen input system.

9. Functionality/Performance.
The much maligned battery life, is really not that bad at all.Using the PSP to listen to mp3s, watch videos, play games, I get about 3-4 hours of usage (depending on how much video/games I watch/play), which gets me through average usage easily.For longer trips, I have the 2200mAh (oem) extended battery which works great and will give me roughly 6-8 hours of usage.Incredible.The battery will stick out the back, but you can go to dealextreme-dot-com and buy a bigger battery cover (black or white) for less than four dollars.Sony will evidently release an official extended battery kit with a bigger battery cover in black and silver (no white though, booo!) for about 45 dollars sometime in the next month or so.

During gameplay, I have never had any slowdown of framerate or crashing EVER.Not once on over 14 games that I now own.Great performance.Videos and music also perform flawlessly.Load times are not that bad, and don't bother me much as it is only in the beginning mostly, and so gameplay during games is very quick.

The XMB (cross media bar) user interface is fantastic and so easy to use and rather stylish as well.Love using it.Video out to your TV is a cool feature that I have not yet used.

The Not-so-good:

1. Fingerprint magnet (black PSP).White one has no issues with this.
2. Cannot change background color to black when viewing photos.
3. Wifi is 802.11b only, no 802.11g (faster) support... yet.
4. Remote play is hit or miss regarding connectivity.Still not easy to connect to the PS3.Hopefully, Sony will improve upon this with updates.Remote on/off of the PS3 works well enough though.
5. Soon to be released extended battery kit will not include a white cover.No biggie, just go to dealextreme-dot-com to find a white one from Hong Kong (cheap too).
6. Limited audio/video codec support, including no DIVX/XVID support yet for videos or AAC for audio.But using PSP Video 9 (freeware) to convert videos works just fine to convert videos of most types into viewable 480x272 (or less if you want) mp4 video.
7. UMD spinning noise is a bit loud/harsh on the ears, but luckily it spins rarely and usually at the beginning of the game or rarely during gameplay (e.g. loading new levels, etc.).
8. Volume on audio/video playback from memory stick is TOO QUIET!Setting "dynamic normalization" under "audio" settings helps it get louder, but still it's too soft.The volume from the speakers is okay but I always use headphones so I cannot really judge it.
9. Expensive assessories.Getting a couple extended batteries, a battery charger, a nice protective case, a screen protector, some UMD cases, headphones, wrist strap, a few games, a nice memory stick pro duo (I got the 8gb one -- you won't want less than that), and the price quickly jumps up to almost PS3 range (easily over 500 dollars).
10. Cool accessories only available in Japan, including a camera, GPS, and DMB (mobile television).I don't really miss those though. Bottom Line:

As you can judge from my lengthy review, I love my new white PSP slim.It is so fun, versatile, and cool (remote play will impress your friends and family) that you will not regret plopping down some serious cash to build up your PSP slim system!

Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance (Jewel Case) Review

(More customer reviews)I was a fan of the first X-Wing game, and, immediately purchased this game upon its release in 1999.The inclusion of the Battle of Endor at the end was the selling point.Ever since, I have not needed another computer game!The other reviews have pretty much spoken for the game's plot and basic features, so I won't comment on those.This game, despite its age, is simply one of the best flight simulator type game out there!

If there is one way to describe this game, its detail!From the complicated story, of which you feel a part of, to the 3-D ships, to all the stuff that happens in the missions it is simply incredible!In the heat of a difficult mission, I have often lost myself in the game, only to shudder when returning to reality!

There are over 50 different family business and Rebel Alliance missions.In these you fly YT-1300 (Milinium Falcon type) freighters, Z-95s, X-wings, A-Wings, B-Wings and Y-wings.Compared with all past games, there is alot of function.You can dock with capital ships, carry containers, operate gun turrets on the freighters and fly through space stations.Space battles are replicated down to the smallest details - sunglare, blast shockwave, large debris, even ejected pilots!You have the ability to communicate with the pilots in your squadron, and there is a variety of "comm chatter" that you get from them!

I have beaten the game twice (it takes a long, long time).The final treat is that you get to fly the Milinium Falcon in the Battle of Endor (the big space battle in Return of the Jedi), complete with a VERY challenging run through the Death Star's interior!Strap on your flight helmets...

In addition to the missions, there is a "flight simulator" section where you can review past tour of duty missions as well as create your own missions!Here you can fly most of the starfighters (Rebel, Imperial, Pirate, Civilian, etc.) see elsewhere in the game.There is a third "Pilot Proving Grounds" section where you can fly Rebel starfighters through a series of mazes and obstacles while competing for the best time.In between Tours, there are some excellent cut scenes.You also earn awards in the Rebel missions and gather various "souviners" during your family missions.

This review has gotten way too long and no one is going to read it anyways, however, X-Wing Alliance is a supurb effort put out by Lucas Arts Entertainment and is well worth the purchase!

Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds: Clone Campaigns Expansion Review

(More customer reviews)...Clone Campaigns is a neat expansion pack for Galactic Battlegrounds. It updates Galactic Battlegrounds to Epsiode II, with the Republic and Confederacy. Also, several changes are made to the game itself, so even if you play one of the old civilizations, it will be new and fun. The most major are:
* Air cruisers- Cannons in the air. Verrrry sllllooooowww recharge rate.
* Anti-air is more powerful/Fighters are less powerful against Anti-air.
* Jedi/Sith upgrades cheaper
* Turrents are more expensive
I would recommend that you get this if you have Galactic Battlegrounds. If you don't have Galactic Battlegrounds, it's an RTS (real time strategy) game based on the Age of Empires II engine where you can become your favorite civ (Royal Naboo, Wookies, Rebel Alliance, Republic, Gungans Empire, Trade Federation, Confederacy) and fight with other civs for control of a world.

(More customer reviews)I love this game. I totally understand where many of the negative reviews are coming from...but as a person who only plays games once in a great while, I must say that I thoroughly enjoy this title.

It's easy to learn and you can just jump right in a play for ten mins or 5 hrs and not get bored...granted, if I played 5 hrs a day every day for a couple weeks this game would get old REAL fast...but it's certainly a solid game with good graphics.

If you are a Star Wars fan but not a gamer (as I am), this is a great game for you.

Star Wars: X-Wing Collector's CD-ROM Review

(More customer reviews)I bought the orginal XWing back in 1993 as one of the first games I got for my then state of the art 486. I was blown away by the game dynamics. Compared to most games of the time the 3D universe was incredible. Especially when compared to the SNES that I had just upgraded from. The developers had elected to use 3d polygons (now the standard) to build the in game graphics and this worked far better than its main rival at the time: Wing Commander and its 2D bitmap graphics. (Wing Commander was once regarded as the standard in space sims but is virtually unplayable now because of the awful graphics and boring AI/combat. I know I've tried it recently!)
Playing XWing now (the updated version included in the collectors CD) it still feels fresh which is an amazing achievment when you consider it is now 10 years old. It may not have cutting edge graphics but they work well enough and still manage to give a smooth and convincing 3D feel. The combat and power management gameplay is still engrossing even by modern standards. To be honest the gameplay stil knocks some of the more recent Lucasarts console based space combat games into touch.
The updated in game orchestral music score is lifted straight from the movies and is a vast improvement on the 1993 Xwing's midi version. This is one of the best and evocative uses of the original John Williams score in any of the Star Wars games. (Much better than in Jedi Knight 2!) You really live the Star Wars experience in this game. (Not only that but you can put the CDRom into a CD player and get the music in full on stereo Hi Fi quality.)
If there is one critisism it is the difficulty. Tie Fighter the sequel game (also on the CD) is much more fondly remembered than Xwing but that may have something to do with the fact it is a much easier game to get into (plus the fact you are the bad guy which is more fun). XWing is hard with a capital H but I think that makes it so much more satifying when you get that mission complete message.
If you like Star Wars, especially the space combat bits towards the end of Return of the Jedi and you have an older PC (even a 486!!!) this is an ideal purchase.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Review

(More customer reviews)If you waited a while and haven't yet bought The Force Unleashed, well consider yourself lucky and pick up this addition.It's a lot more addictive and fun.I own both versions.I had The Force Unleashed for Xbox 360, and I bought this Force Unleashed Ulitmate Sith for PS3, as well as owning The Force Unleashed for PSP (what can I say I own all gaming consoles).This adds three levels to the original game that to me I enjoy more than some of the games regular levels, this game is made to answer the "what if" question; like can you imagine Luke Skywalker becoming the apprentice to Starkiller (who killed his father Vader)?
Now the Sith Edition for Xbox 360 contains 2 disks, the first is just the regular game that's been out for a little over a year, with a bonus disk featuring the 3 new levels.On the PS3 version you get one disk that contains everything.I also wanted to clear this up, you don't get 10 collector cards, you get one (of either 10 different) card and a book that shows you the other.It's nice thou, it's foil stamped, etc.And what I think is really nice, is the case this game is in, it's not plastic it's a tin case.Makes for a dramatic look.Certainly a nice christmas gift for any Star Wars fan, even if they already own the Original Force Unleashed as I did.

Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds Review

(More customer reviews)Those of you that had the displeasure of playing LucasArts' first attempt at Star Wars real time strategy might be disinclined to take the bait a second time. You would be missing out, however, as Galactic Battlegrounds goes a good way towards making up for its abominable predecessor. While GB is definitely not an attempt to create a unique RTS system, at least it works, which is far better than can be said about FC.
Galactic Battlegrounds uses the AOE 2 engine, and it plays a lot like Age of Kings. If you're experienced with the medieval-era strategy game, you probably won't even need to play the tutorial or read the manual. Now, before you run off and dismiss this game as Age of Kings with Star Wars sprites, you should know that the Star Wars sprites are really quite cool. Also, the game actually does play quite a bit differently, owing to the fact that almost all the units are ranged and there are air units. If you discount the last fact (as I did at least once) you risk the nasty surprise of having your opponent flatten your base with bombers.
Another one of the best things about Battlegrounds is that it runs very smoothly over even a mediocre internet connection, much like AOE 2 does. It also enjoys rock-solid stability and a few useful improvements over the old game engine. For example, when you build a harvesting center, the workers you used to make it will automatically start harvesting when they're done building. Also, the 'idle villager' button flashes when there is one, so you don't have to keep clicking on it to find out.
Of course, nothing is perfect, and although Battlegrounds sure seems perfect in the light of its predecessor, it could have been better. The graphics are only so-so. I really think LucasArts could have done a better job with the blaster shots and explosions. They are all non-antialiased colored lines and white flashes- the sort of thing you'd expect a 3 year old with crayons to draw. This wouldn't be so bad if you weren't always staring at them. I should also note here, however, that the graphics (aside from scaling) are arguably better than Force Commander's. This says a lot when you consider the fact that that game was 3-D. On another aesthetic note, but hardly the least important one, the original John Williams soundtrack is retained in this game. If there is any immediate indicator that LucasArts has learned from FC and worked to amend its deficiencies, this is it. Also, I'm sure many will agree that there could hardly be a be a better tune for playing against your best friend or kid brother than 'Duel of the Fates.'
Another probable defficiency is that the game plays too much like Age of Kings. This goes down all the way to the scenarios, which aside from different heroes, run in a VERY similar fashion to the AOE 2 single player missions. The only real difference in the campaign is that each mission line has a 'bonus mission' that plays out a hypothetical alternate battle. Some of them are quite fun- say, the big slaughter of Gungans, including everyone's favorite, Jar-Jar Binks. If you've ever sadistically wondered how Darth Maul stacks up against him, here's your chance to find out. You can also (if you're good) win the battle of Hoth and generally make hay out of the canonical storyline. This is never a boring thing for a Star Wars fan to do.
The established game engine certainly carries more advantages than disadvantages when you add them all up. It was definitely a good idea for LucasArts to license it. In fact, it's such a good idea that you'll inevitably wonder why they didn't do this in the first place, instead of going through all the trouble of making their own 3-D engine (no simple task) only to have it eat the floorboards on store shelves. For those who played Force Commander and wish they hadn't, I encourage you to give Galactic Battlegrounds a try. Especially if you haven't played Age of Empires before, it'll go a good way's towards fulfilling an aching need for some good Star Wars strategy gaming.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Review

(More customer reviews)AgainI'm given the difficult task of reviewing a game of mixed renown. In the case of Star Wars Unleashed it is safe to say it did well with its' fan base selling millions of copies but was received with lukewarm scrutiny by the critics. Because of this I did not know quite what to expect. Having just beat the game all I can say is it delivered the goods I expected and was in no way a disappointment. Like many other games that belong to the action platform genre it is a blast while playing but despite the fun you are having itends too abruptly.

If there is a single crime Force Unleashed is guilty of it is that in some ways it is akin to playing God of War with a light saber. Finishing off bosses or large foes requires button mash mini games. Most are easy enough with the hardest one requiring the player to pull a Star Destroyer from the sky as Tie fighters attack mercilessly. As you swathe your way through storm troopers, rebels, aliens, and walkers you collect points from slain foes which eventually make you "level up" so you can improve force powers or buy brand new ones. There are many epic feats Star killer can do and luckily enough a few special attacks such as "lightning bomb" are brand new to the franchise.

Most surprising is the story line is top notch. Side characters such as the beautiful and resourceful Imperial pilot Eclipse and Proxy the friendly yet psychotic droid are oddly endearing. The voice acting is delivered wonderfully as you would expect from a Lucas arts title. In some ways the plot pulled me in just as much as the one in Knights of the old republic though Force Unleashed should not be mistaken for an rpg.

The only thing Force Unleashed can be faulted for is that you visit some worlds twice. Felucia and Kashyk come to mind immediately though I'm happy to say that the lay out drastically changesfor each visit. The environments can be truly breathtakingand I was very impressed by the graphics as a whole.

In my whole time playing I can only think of one glitch. When I fought Vader the second time our life bars froze. Pretty much we were both invincible so I had to start my battle over with him upon resetting my 360.I was glad the same glitch did not happen twice. I should mention though the load times are slow the auto save points are put in good places so rest assureddying does not require you restart the whole level.

On account this is the Ultimate Sith edition you are also getting the Jedi temple, Tattoine, and Hoth levels. Two of these missions extend an alternate history in which Star Killer becomes the new Darth Vader. The Jedi Temple was exclusive to the ps2 version until now.

How worth while this game is depends on two factors. If you've already beaten Force Unleashed I'm hesitant to say if the 3 hours of extra content will be worth it for you.Secondly be forewarned this is a Star Wars game from the action plat former mold thus you can likely beat it in one or two nights if you have nothing better to do.

If however you want to know how The Rebellion got started and be put in the shoes of one of the most epic Jedi/Sith rear kickers of all time Force Unleashed Ultimate Sith edition is a steal at the present asking price!

Pros

+ A plot of romance, betrayal, redemption, and conspiracies delivered with flair and passion.

+ Beautiful breath-taking visuals

+Mostly fluid combat and varied ways of using Force powers

+Game does not penalize you for failing real time event button combinationson the lowest difficulty

+Some of the best voice acting I've heard in awhile

Cons

-It is difficult to lock onto what you want sometimes to target objects or foes with your Jedi abilities.

-The sound track is not bad per se but we've all heard these same tired musical scores thousands of times by now.

-The game is not completely absent of glitches.

-Can be beaten quickly

- If you've already beaten the original I cannot in good conscious suggest you trudge through the Ultimate edition for a measly 3 additional hours of play on the special disc that includes the bonus levels. Only the Hoth mission is exclusive. The others can be purchased on Xbox live as downloadable content.

Ending Thoughts: It is hard for me to describe exactly how I feel about Force Unleashed Ultimate Sith Edition. Most complaints I could level at it would also have to be taken up with other games from the action genre. While it doesn't do anything new it does it very well.

Certain people will have a beef with Unleashed merely on account it uses the Star Wars license. Many reviewers are prone to attack a title if it some how connects with a movie or popular franchise. Force Unleashed shamefully draws both those cards.

Yet I never witnessed an instance this game lied about what it was. For those of us that wanted a game similar to Devil may cry or God of war with Jedi, Sith, and Storm trooper it is a dream come true. Had Unleashed been an rpg I would have complained about its' short span. However safe to say most of us know the appeal of this romp is throwing around hapless unfortunate souls with our minds right before we electrocute them with force lightning! On that raw visceral level Unleashed succeeds while offering a memorable tale to boot!

NOTE: The game starts off as an FPS.Not until around the 7th level do you get the lightsaber and the Force.When you ignite the saber, you go into 3rd person mode.
DIFFICULTY:I'm starting with this, because this stands out the most.This game is TOUGH!I defy anyone to play through this game without consulting someone for help.I knew I was in trouble when I got stuck on the first stage!And I played the original DARK FORCES.JEDI OUTCAST consists of complicated map areas, hard puzzles, things you might not think to do, and enemies that can drain your energy quickly.
GRAPHICS:I thought they were quite good.Familiar planets is a nice touch.Has a realistic SW feel.The frame-rate is good.
SOUND:A little disappointing, particularly with regard to the lightsaber sound effect.It doesn't have half the punch that it did in OBI-WAN.The music editing is very choppy and is not done very well.Blasters sound good.
CONTROL:The default control is awful, but you can customize it to make it a lot better.Using R for the saber leads to not quite as precise lightsaber movements, but you can get used to that.You can deflect blasts with the lightsaber (and it looks awesome) but they never go back and hit the enemy!The Force is awkward to use.
MULTIPLAYER:Lots of cool places to fight (Death Star, Bespin, etc.) and you can even be a stormtrooper and have a lightsaber!
If Lucasarts took the difficulty, Force usability, lightsaber controls, sound effects, and enjoyability of OBI-WAN, with the graphics and animation of JEDI OUTCAST, we'd get one truly amazing XBOX game.
I have to say this one more time: This is game is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT!It takes the fun out of it since it is so frustrating.Still, it's worth checking out.

Star Wars: Tie Fighter (Jewel Case) Review

(More customer reviews)I love playing games, but when push comes to shove, I'm not very good at it. I own both X-Wing and TIE Fighter. When I play X-Wing, I always die in a fiery explosion in my first mission (once I was lucky, though, and got captured!), but TIE Fighter is so flexible in difficulty that even I have gotten pretty far. It's more interesting, too. Most Imperial fighters (and all of the classic movie ones)have no shields, so you must rely on your wits, aim, speed, and allies to keep from becoming toast, and if you run off to do secondary missions (for which you gain major brownie points with the Emperor and promotions through his secret "Order"), sometimes none of these can save you. Luckily, at least on the difficulties I played on (and it can get much harder for all you challenge junkies), it's not very easy to die or get captured even if you try (yes, I have. yes, I'm strange).
If you hate games but love Star Wars (or vice versa), this is going to convert you. If you're into games of any kind (unless you only play solitaire and mahjongg, in which case you probably are from another galaxy anyway and don't need to discover the Star Wars one), BUY THIS RIGHT NOW. You will not regret it. You'll get more fun for your money than from any other game, even the Sims or Grand Theft Auto, no matter how sophisticated your computer is (I still only have 400 MHz).

Star Wars Bounty Hunter Review

(More customer reviews)This was the second game I ever got for PS2 and I just love it. I still go back to it after several years for nothing more than the thrills and good times it has to offer. Bounty Hunter isn't perfect but it is one of the better Star Wars games I've played and its a great third person shooter. I remember how much the graphics, cutscenes, effects, sound, and dialog blew me away a couple years ago and all I can do today is appreciate all these things more. Every time I play the game (I've played it a lot) I find new things to mess around with, whether it be small rodent creatures to blast or secret areas containing heavy weapons. The worlds are immerse with detail and most are actually almost beautiful. The explosions and laser blasts that fill the levels all look great, as do the characters, who's lypsyncing and motions are excellently executed. The action gameplay is fast paced with a very high frame rate. The sound design sounds as though it was taken directly from a Star Wars film. And most of all, the story is very entertaining, from your first encounter with the villanous scum Meeko, to your stealing of Slave 1 from an astroid prision, to meeting Tyranus. The story takes you all around the galaxy and be prepared to meet up with some familiar characters such as Zam Weesel. Many have complained about the game's repetetivness and lousy camera and I will admit that the camera tends to work a little strangly at times, but it certainly can be controled and is not something to get all worked up over. Bounty Hunter's action has never boared me and I find it's controls to be intruative and easy to use. Star Wars Bounty Huter is an excellent game with high production values and many good things going for it, I truely hope Lucas Arts releases a sequel for it because it is one of the best games I have ever played. (More customer reviews)This is a terrific first-person shooter and it's long -- so you get a lot of gameplay.While I haven't played any of the multiplayer games, I thoroughly enjoyed single player.There are plenty of interesting missions with a connecting storyline (a Lucas Arts strength ever since Dark Forces) and if you've played other Star Wars titles like Dark Forces, it's thrilling to see many of those same environments with better graphics, including your mentor at the Academy, Kyle Katarn!Before each mission you can select weapons to use in additon to strengthening your Force Powers, such as Healing, Grip, Force Absorption, Protection, Lightning, etc.By the end you've really customized your abilities.In one of the last levels you will choose the Dark Side or the Light, and this does affect the gameplay.You also get to ride a few different vehicles, which is fun, and I like that you can save anytime.
I do have a few minor complaints -- in the last dozen or so levels you must rely almost exclusively on the light saber, while I really like using a wider variety of weapons; the faces of players are oddly flat; and even though I met the system requirements I experienced slowdowns quite often.
If you like FPSs or games in the Star Wars universe, you will really enjoy this game for Mac. May the Force be with you.

Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith Review

(More customer reviews)One of my most hated things is movie-licensed video games. I avoid them like the clap. However, there were two extenuating circumstances that caused me to buy this:

1) I love Star Wars, and I love Episode III. When I saw it for the third time, the theater was right next door to Electronics Boutique's flagship store. (at Universal CityWalk) After the movie, we went into EB to look around while I was still high on Ep. III Fever.

2) My DS has been doing nothing but collecting dust over the last few months because there are so few worthwhile games for it so far.

So yeah, I bought this even though I expected it to be a piece of poop. Surprisingly, I've had lots of fun with it. It's an old school side-scrolling beat-em-up, it's extremely repetetive, and it's short. Yet it somehow managed to keep me interested for a number of hours, even beyond completing the game with both characters on Jedi difficulty. I think one major factor is the skill/ability system. I didn't expect there to be so many options in combat for a little game like this. I've noticed a lot of people think the 3D flying levels are the game's one saving grace, but not me. They aren't bad, but they were so incredibly short that they just didn't make any difference to me. I much prefer running around with a lightsaber, chopping up battle droids and cutting down clone troopers, other Jedi, and Nemoidians. Also of note, the sound is surprisingly good. The lightsabers actually sound authentic and deadly.

A previous reviewer said: "Theres no use for the touch screen!"

*bzzzt* Incorrect. You can use the touch screen to activate your super attacks. You just touch the icons, instead of manually using the D-pad and buttons.
