Impossible Creatures Review

Impossible Creatures
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've spent quite a bit of time with the demo and I'm adding this game to my Christmas Wish List.Over the years, I've tried a number of different RTS games and, frankly, the notion of "gathering resources & building structures" faster than the AI or your on-line opponent just never hooked me.In Impossible Creatures, Relic Entertainment has introduced the concept of player-designed units to the RTS genre, opening a whole new challenge for the player: Zebra+Ox or Zebra+Leopard? Not to mention an intruiging storyline involving our protagonist's long-lost father.
Mission objectives go well beyond the "Destroy Enemy Base" type of play, including collecting DNA from different animals to add to your unit creations, protecting innocent bystanders, discovering new technologies. And all within the first couple of missions.
Graphically speaking, this game is above par, providing a full 3D world for the player to interact with and manipulate. The camera can be positioned, rotated and zoomed to just about anywhere.Perfect for when you want to watch closely as your Coyopine makes mincemeat of the enemy. The animation is top-notch, as are the special effects and textures.
The sounds are also well done, though I do find some of the repeated alerts annoying: The creatures are under attack!Yes, I know that, I put them there to draw the enemy in!Oh well.
I've finally found an RTS I *want* to play!So come on, let's see what kind of creatures you can make!

Karaoke Revolution Party Review

-KR Challenge - variety of game modes
-Duets
-Duets Medley
-Knock out - Out sing your opponent to knock them out of the game
-Knock out Medley
-Sing off - 2 players alternate lines to get the highest score
+Demo of DDR Extreme that has 3 songs to choose from

I have loved Karaoke revolution from the beginning. I didn't think it could be any better than the 3rd version when they added the duets. This version takes the game to a whole new level. There is a wide variety of songs, so many different types of people can play. There are several songs that begin locked, but it didn't take too long to get them unlocked. The mini games are terrible and there was no need for them on the disk.

I found that it is near impossible to both sing and dance at the same time. If you don't know all the words to a song, it is impossible to read the singing and dance lines at the same time. Besides, it's extremely difficult to speak, much less sing while exerting yourself on the dance pad. I recommend having one person sing and another dance. This changes it up and gives you some great songs to dance to.I like the DDR games, but never have been crazy about the songs, so I really like the great songs.

Here is a complete list of the songs on the game as well as the artist of the version of the song:

Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing - Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell
Ain't Too Proud to Beg - The Temptations
Always - Atlantic Starr
American Woman - Lenny Kravitz
Brick House - The Commodores
Call Me - Blondie
Crazy - Aerosmith
Crazy in Love - Beyonce
Do You Really Want To Hurt Me - Culture Club
Drive - Incubis
Dust in the Wind - Kansas
Endless Love - Lionel Richie & Diana Ross
Every Little Thing She Does is Magic - The Police
Everybody Wants to Rule the World - Tears for Fears
Everywhere - Michelle Branch & Santana
Fame - Irene Cara (from the soundtrack)
Fly - Hilary Duff
For You I Will - Monica
Greatest Love of All - Whitney Houston
Headstrong - Trapt
Here I Go Again - Whitesnake
I Don't Want to be - Gavin DeGraw
(I've Had) The Time of My Life - Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes (Dirty Dancing soundtrack)
I Left My Heart in San Francisco - Tony Bennett
I Love Rock and Roll - Joan Jett
I Will Always Love You - Whitney Houston
If You Could Only See - Tonic
I'll Be - Edwin McCain
Material Girl - Madonna
Me and Bobby McGee - Janis Joplin
Pain - Jimmy Eat World

That's Amore - Dean Martin
The Game of Love - Michelle Branch
Time After Time - Cyndi Lauper
Truth Is - Fantasia Barrino
Turn the Beat Around - Gloria Estefan
Unforgettable - Nat King Cole
Uptown Girl - Billy Joel
Waiting for a Girl Like You - Foreigner

Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks Review

Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks is hands down the best "Mythologies" title in the MK Universe. After having two rather poor spin offs (Sub-Zero and MK: Special Forces), it seemed as if MK could only do well in it's core series... until now.

MK: Shaolin Monks is a re-telling of Mortal Kombat 2, through the eyes of Kung Lao and Liu Kang. The game starts at the end of MK 1 and runs all the way up to the climatic finish where you battle the great Shao Kahn. Along the way you will utilize the game's somewhat unique combat engine, which is basically a hybrid of a platformer like Devil May Cry and the MK "Kombat" engine. What is so great about it though is that it is not stiff like the "Kombat" engine, and allows pretty much free movement. You still have "kombos" and special moves, but they are all easy to execute and chain together, giving even a novice player an easy chance to get in the game and start kicking butt. You also have the ability to pull off fatalities on just about every enemy (even bosses, when you beat them!)

The game also features an "RPG" like experience point system, which you can manipulate heavily depending on how good you get at killing enemies and keeping your combos going without getting knocked down. As long as you keep hitting enemies and killing them, your combo will increase. With each kill or 10 hits, you receive a multiplier point. After your combo ends, the points you earned depending on a number of factors, including your combo and kills, are multiplied. You then receive experience points based on that multiplication. The experience points then can be used to purchase new moves and combos in the status screen. The only downside to this though is the fact that the game has only so many combos and moves to purchase. You will easily have purchased every move available well before the game is over (for me, it was half way before the game was complete!)

The graphics for MK: Shaolin Monks are kind of bad in places (especially in the cinematic cut scenes - everyone pretty much has the same face!) The in-game graphics are good though for the most part, although they seem gritty and un-finished in places. The dynamic lighting and the blood makes up for it though... if you like your violence red.

Sound-wise, MK: Shaolin Monks is like any other MK game. The soundtrack is not at all that impressive, but it fits the atmosphere of the game, especially in the areas that are straight out of MK 2. The only qualms with the game's sound are probably with it's voice acting... but we'll get into that further in a bit.

The story telling of MK:Shaolin Monks is another hamper on the game. While the game features some great MK action and appearances from just about everyone's favorite characters, the way they appear (or die) is somewhat non-sensual at times. Also, with the way certain things happen in the game, you will be left with your head scratching, wondering if you recall things being that way in MKII's story. To top it off, the game has some really BAD voice acting (best example is Shao Kahn... instead of using the MK announcer voice, they used some other random voice.)

Despite the shoddy voice acting and rather butchered storyline, MK:Shaolin Monks is still the best MK spin-off game to date. It features a combat engine that is arguably better than the regular MK fighting engine, and it gives the gamer more things to do (tons of stage kills and environmental manipulations.) You also have a couple secret characters to unlock, as well as plenty of extra "kontent" to find along the way (including a hidden port of the arcade version of Mortal Kombat II!) MK: Shoalin Monks is highly recommended for any MK fan or just about any action/platformer fan.

Frogger Review

The new Frogger is a combination of easy fun and frustratingly hard. It is a bit addicting - my friends and I just HAD to get past a certain level before we turned off the console.. but it gets to the point where one wouldlike to start to tear his/her hair out.The first level is the best(that's the classic Frogger), the second level sort of leaves me wonderingwhere i am supposed to be hopping, the third level is impossible (i thinkit's just there for show), and it continues on like that -- some levels aretricky and fun, others are just not possible to complete, and others arevery ambiguous about how to get to the goals. All in all, i liked thegame. It has simple controls and it's fun to play by yourself or with afriend.

This is one of my favorite games ever! Unfortunately, the only ones they sell on Amazon are the original versions that were made for older computers. You can buy updated versions of the games that play on Windows XP from Jellyvision's YouDontKnowJack website (they created the game). Hours of entertainment. If you have an older computer and want to play the best trivia game ever made - buy this game! I believe they have made over 5 different versions over the years, even specific games all about movies, all about sports and all about TV. If you don't remember these games, you can play new, daily YDKJ on the YDKJ website and see how much you love them before you buy the older (and much longer and more fun) games.

I downloaded this game online and loved it. I could not stop playing it once I started. Compared to other fashion games I have played, this one is by far the best. It allows you to dress models in fashions pre-selected. However, you must match up shoes, tops and bottoms in order to specific styles listed above the model's head. My ten year old daughters are also big fans of this game. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves fashion or wishes to go into fashion. It is really fun and entertaining.

If you like fun war games and are tired of fighting the Germans all the time this game is great.I think most people forget there was just as much if not more fighting in the Pacific.Do not listen to all those game geeks the graphics are great for PS2.The best part is it is accurate in its history. It is also rated Teen which means kids can play it not just big kids if you know what I mean.I would like to see the game companies allow parents to turn the language off on some of these Mature games. This is a great Christmas gift to get kids who are 10 and above.Have fun.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope International Review

Star Ocean: The Last Hope International
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
So this game actually only deserves four stars...but since I know some other moron will post the obligatory "Dis here game iz alredy on teh three-six-zeeero" and give the game a low score I bumped it up to five stars. That should cancel out exactly one dipstick.

On to the game!

Beautiful game.COMES WITH A FREE $(*@)(%! MOVIE!!Holy 'effing mother of Gargonzola the game takes thirty friggen minutes to get going.I know it's supposed to be an epic tale of survival and exploration but I MADE A SANDWICH in the time it took for the game to start.Sure, people joke and say, "...man, I could have gotten up and made a sandwich in that length of time."Yeah, well, not only did I MAKE the sandwich, I ate the damn thing too.Beautiful movie...but when it came time to move my guy around I looked at the controller with slight distrust."Hmmm..."Lo and behold the damn game was ready for me to play it!Battle tutorial!AWESOME!Ohh...nice and then I can explore the ship and then...AW F$$%!ANOTHER damn cutscene.

When we FINALLY have control for REAL, the camera is fluid, the controls are accurate (except when I "sprint".I don't know who stuck a N0S bottle up the main character's butt to make him zip forward like that but it's slightly retarded. At least make the damn sprint last longer.I have to keep having my guy make grunting noises like he's plowing the remnants of Thanksgiving dinner through his colon.*sigh*

Combat is very nifty.Again, nothing groundbreaking but this is an RPG for frick's sake, what did you expect? There's a little battle bonus board that you can add to by meeting special conditions in battle.A bonus battle feature where you can sneak around behind the enemy...the name of which escapes me at the moment.DIFFICULTY SETTINGS!!!Very very cool. It's one thing to have a difficult RPG...it's another to have to get your guys to level 27 before you can fight the first boss. The Japanese are all sadistic, I think. You get used to whacking all this little stuff and THEN comes captain octopus that absolutely spanks your monkey until bananas come out of your ears.So frustrating...and this game avoids those frustrations with an easy button.

The voices...ugh.The obligatory cute asian-looking girl with perky...er...attitudes and tight pants is entertaining for the first five minutes. Then you want to go and grab that stick with a hand on it from the concorde grape-jelly character who runs the item making machine and strangle her with it.The main character dude says the same...damn...thing...every...friggen...battle.You can switch them over to the Japanese voices and laugh at them for awhile...but then it starts to feel like you're in an airport and you've gotta switch back.

Menu can be changed from modern to classic.Modern being what I have heard was available on the 360 and classic being a bright anime/cartooney style.I prefer the anime style personally.

In the end, if you didn't try this on the 360 then I say give it a go.I LOVE RPGs and this one has already provided me with hours of pleasure.Seriously, don't be afraid to buy the game. It's pretty damn good.

Ironman 2 Review

Ironman 2
Average Reviews:

I haven't played through the whole game, as I just got it yesterday, but what I have played I liked a lot. The characters we know and love are in here, and the dialogue definitely reads like something they would say. There is no voice acting, at least that I have encountered. The graphics are very much Sega, and have an older-school look to them. The lines are not as clean as on the newer games and it certainly does not look 2D, but neither is it really 3D either. Kind of a mix, I guess. It's hard for me to explain--I'm not as hardcore a gamer as a lot of reviewers are. The controls are easy to use and JARVIS walks you through it the first time, but it's difficult finding some of those controls in the middle of a fight. And War Machine is a much better fighter than Iron Man, having more at his disposal. You go on missions as either Iron Man or his buddy, and sometimes you switch in the middle of the mission. Sometimes you are on call for S.H.I.E.L.D. and other times you are working for someone else or yourself. They've done a good job with making it look and feel like Iron Man, and I am enjoying it. The enemies are tough but not too tough, and I like the fact you can play as War Machine too.

A good game, but it won't set the world on fire. Still enjoyable!

First off, I bought the featured discs set for $20 (with 25 games) and this was on those, which I recommend getting if you play a lot of games like me!

This was by far the best on that set, and one of the funnest sims I've played. It doesn't look like its as fun as it is, my husband was blown away that I was as hooked as I was, but it is a blast to play. Each board has new goals which keeps it fun and interesting and unrepetitive.I also learned a little about farming along the way, and my kids are excited to play this game now that I'm done (and willing to share, lol). Also, once the unending game is unlocked, you could play for hours and it quickly becomes the game that never ends, constantly changing and adding new goals even then.Definitly worth the money, but again I recommend the game collection to get the most for your money.

Turbo Subs Review

I just installed this game yesterday, and it's a whole lot of fun to play. This is a basic time management game, like Cake Mania or Diner Dash, which are also a lot of fun.

The goal of this game is to prepare orders for diners quickly in order to get enough tips to upgrade your restaurant (and get through the level) so that you can make more $$ for more upgrades. You play Rebecca, and you work with your brother Robert, who makes the subs.Customers come in and order various subs, drinks, chips, desserts, coffee, etc, and you have to manage your time in providing them with their order.Certain things take longer to prepare, and you have to be able to do more than one thing at once so that the customer doesn't leave in a huff. It's also important to collect your tips quickly, partially so you can wait on more customers, but also because thieves show up and will steal your hard earned $$ if you aren't fast enough.

I also have Turbo Pizza, Cake Mania, and Diner Dash, which are also fun. This game is very similar to those, but it has the thief character, which those others don't have. Also, while you can use your $$ to buy upgrades, certain levels come with free upgrades, which of course mean more work. There are also a few search-and-find mini games that can earn you more $$ for upgrades.

This game is a lot of fun and I highly recommend it for people who like time management style games.

This is a fun variation of cake mania. You get to select one of like 5 or 6 different locations to go to. If you choose the wrong one first it can be difficult. (China or Cave) New customer types- some are very amusing and some can be annoying. (witches that turn your customers into monkeys and change their orders if they get impatient.) (About half of the places have a customer with this ability.) Overall it's not too difficult if you strategize and use your powerups wisely. Fun if you enjoy time management games. Tradewinds Legends Review

Tradewinds Legends
Average Reviews:

I found "Tradewinds Legends" through Big Fish Games - which offers 60 minutes of free play time for this game. And I have to say that I was hooked from the time my first ship set sail!

This game has 2 modes of play, "Story Mode" & "Free Trade Mode".In "story mode", after choosing the character you want to play (each with different abilities, traits, backgrounds, & personalities), you begin completing tasks for the different sultans of each port & increasing your wealth through the buying & selling of various products in the ports. In order to do this you have to buy low & sell high, build a fleet of strong ships, & protect yourself & other's through battling the pirates who invade, pillage, & steal in these waters.

In "Free Trade Mode" the only difference is that you don't complete the tasks of the sultans - everything else is the same.

After victoriously battling your way to the top for the first time, you're given the option to create your own character by choosing their name, gender, class, nationality, career, & picture from the options given.

I have to agree with previous reviewers in that the graphics are simplistic - but it really doesn't negatively impact how fun "Tradewinds" is to play. And, on top of being fun to play, it's a great way for kids to learn the value of money, and the impact of such things as: how interest works both in the saving & borrowing of money, as well as the concept of finding the best value for the items you want to buy.

Overall, this is a great game for adults & kids alike! Not only is it fun, but it can also teach the value of a dollar.Because of this, it's also a great game for parents & children to play together!

Madden NFL 07 Review

Madden NFL 07

After playing this Madden, I am impressed with the improvements they made from last year. In the last years game, you probably remembered the gameplay being a bit unrealistic. For example in punting, none of your special teams players would block for you. This year the players do block for you and sometimes you can get some nice returns. However, I haven't been able to run it back for a touchdown yet. Also the pancake problem has been fixed. In last years game, all of your offensive lineman would rack up many pancakes and all of them would head to the pro bowl. This has been fixed and the game accurately depicts offensive lineman to their actual ability. Another improvement is the tackling animations. You can see recievers and runners carry their momentum for more yards and real life physics type tackles. The only drawback is the computer kicking. Many of the pro bowl kickers like Vinateri kicked for 55 yards and more sometimes. I know they are good, but 56 yard kicks don't happen all the time. Also the EA soundtrack is always going for more rap and rock, which I don't really care for. Some of the songs can be a bit annoying. I did enjoy the many songs from NFL classic music in the Madden 2006 version.

There is a key feature they always add for the Madden game. Since it is Shaun Alexander on the cover, they focus on the running game. Now you are able to control blockers and lead blockers toward defenders. This makes it easier to run the ball. Also I have noticed that you need to choose plays more carefully. Dime and quarter packages won't work for the run and could add up to a lot of yards for the offense. This has been a nice feature to add for the game, however I have noticed that the computer players would run for 40 carries and just abandon the pass game.

All of the features like the francise mode has been given more depth. Along with the usual features like storyline central and owner mode, there is better depth in the off season. Free agency is before the draft and you can actually have the rookies do workouts with the team. Also you can scout rookies in the All star game for rookies. Much more off season things make francise mode even better. The graphics mainly look the same except the grass is much more realistic looking.

A thing that I really don't like is the exclusive license in the Madden game. It doesn't make EA compete against other brands so they are not adding many new features which are extraordinary or amazing. The features in last years game and this year is pretty small compared to before the license. It is still a good Madden game and well worth a purchase though.

For the first time ever, step up as the lead blocker to create a hole, then take control of the tailback and smash through, overpower, or slash away from would-be tacklers as you fight for every yard. Innovative rushing controls give you a game-breaking ground attack featuring all-new jukes, cutbacks, and the distinct running styles of your favorite backs. Between the tackles or in the open field, run to daylight with Madden NFL 07.Use actual plays from your favorite team's defensive playbook to shut down the running game, pressure the quarterback, or force key turnovers

I first played this at shockwavedotcom and it was a lot of fun. It can be frustrating at times playing against the computer (the computer seems to have really good luck) but overall it's a nice twist on a classic. Me and me fianc
