I'm at a loss for words. It's worth every penny. One of the best games I've ever played.Easily the best game to be released here in the states. The story and atmosphere will entrance and lock you in a hypnotic grip before you even realize you lost your job, your girlfriend and even your World of Warcraft account.Again, I wish I could say more and I don't know how to properly convey the wonder and joy that this game is.There isn't a single game like it, and there never will be again.I'd say this is one of maybe, MAYBE five games that transcends the limitation of its status of belonging to the video game field and becomes purely a work of art.And I don't say that lightly.

Being someone who loves RPG games, but sucked terribly at dexterity, I was always frustrated with never being able to find a game I could complete -- lack of coordination. This game is more of a thinking game, and while thereare some dexterity/coordination parts, it's not constant keypad movementsand doesn't frustrate you so much to want to quit. Needless to say, thehumor, the clever puzzles and the story line itself is great and I highlyrecommend this game. There are so many places to explore ... once throughis not enough!

Panzer Dragoon Review

I have very fond memories of Panzer Dragoon. It was the first game I bought for my SEGA Saturn back in May 1995, meaning it was my first taste of 32 bits. It was such a different time then, because the Sony Playstation hadn't been released yet, and the 16 bit systems were still reigning supreme. A real Clash of the Titans, Nintendo's SNES vs. SEGA's Genesis. It was hard to declare a clear winner back then, so the idea of SEGA dominating the 32 bit era didn't seem so absurd. I remember seeing a few tiny pics of Panzer Dragoon screens in magazine previews, and that was enough to get me interested, even though I couldn't really see what was going on. When I finally played it, I was completely blown away. Team Andromeda (the developer) did an amazing job of creating a unique fantasy world. Well, sort of unique; it was heavily inspired by the manga/anime Nausica'. As for the game itself, it's a 3D shooter. It followed in the footsteps of Space Harrier, and Star Fox. The bulk of the simple gameplay was controling a crosshairs and locking onto targets with guided lasers. One feature that was new at the time was the 360' view control. Enemies could attack from any direction, so you had to be quick with those L and R shoulder buttons. Another thing that set Panzer Dragoon apart from other shooters was the presentation. It opened with a beautiful cinema, setting the stage for a war and showing just how you come to possess a flying dragon as your steed. It had its own ficticous language, increasing the player immersion. It was a true masterpiece. About a year later, the sequel was released, Panzer Dragoon Zwei II. (Redundant, I know, but that ~is~ the official title) It stayed true to the original, but threw in some new elements and improvements as well. Unfortunately, by the time the third game in the series (Panzer Dragoon Saga) was completed in 1997, the Saturn was already all but dead in the US. The Sony Playstation, which was initially met with a great amount of suspicion and distaste from the gaming community, had become the most successful game console in history and absolutely crushed its competition. Panzer Dragoon Saga came very close to not being released in the US at all, but in the end SEGA saw fit to produce a severely limited run of 6000 copies. It was extremely hard to find a copy. Those who did find it were treated to one of the most enjoyable and unique RPGs ever made. After PDS was released, members Team Andromeda declared that the Panzer Dragoon trilogy was complete, and they disbanded. They went on to work on other projects. One of them was Omega Boost, a 3D shooter for the Playstation that plays almost identically to Panzer Dragoon. [EDIT: Since writing this review I've been told that no one from Team Andromeda worked on Omega Boost] And now, a Playstation 2 game called Rez is on the near horizon. Supposedly there are no less than seven former TA members on the Rez staff, and would you believe it, it too looks to play much like the Panzer Dragoon shooters. Finally, oddly enough, a fourth Panzer Dragoon is on the way to the Xbox. I would have loved another RPG in the series, but apparently this too will be another shooter. Oh well, good enough.

I didn't expect to ramble on this long. If there is anyone out reading this who owns a Saturn but doesn't own the games in the PD series, do yourself a big favor, and get them. All of them. They're well worth it. But get this one first.

Synopsis:The game universe is set in the distant future, thousands of years after a great war between humans and their biologically engineered weapons.By the time of the game, humans have regained some level of organization, forming everything from small tribes to large nations. One nation, The Imperials, have discovered a tower that gave them access to large amounts of ancient weapons which they used to beat back and control the ever-present monsters in the world. The Imperials were corrupted by their power and became conquerors of other people as opposed to liberators from a violent world.Gameplay:The player is set along a rail of gameplay with the game moving forward at a predetermined pace. The only time the game pauses, thus giving the player control over how long the game lasts, is during boss battles. The player has a small degree of control, being allowed to move about the x and y-axis, but the overall direction of travel is uncontrollable. The player has a full, 360-degree field of view, and can quickly look left, right, forward, and behind the dragon. Enemies will come from all directions and vary in size and health. The player has two weapons, the hand gun held by the rider which can fired with a single button press, and the homing laser fired by the dragon which is controlled by holding down the fire button and highlighting enemies with the aiming reticle. The game is set out over six levels and a final boss battle. Bosses are encountered at the end of each level, with the exception of the sixth. Cut scenes illustrating plot details are placed before the beginnings of some levels.

This game takes after games like Sim Them park and Rollercoaster Tycoon. You must create and manage a theme park that is based on dinosaurs, like the movies were supposed to do. You can manage restaurants, shops, attractions, and dino health. There is some link cable support, as you can trade the DNA of the 100 something dinosaurs in this game.
In this game you can choose the entry fee, feed and track dinosaurs in your park, and come in complete control over Jurassic Park. This game should be a hit, in that it relates to all the Simulaters for PC and Mac.

Dragon Force Review

Dragon Force

Dragon Force is one of several games that is excellent, but completely unnoticed and forgotten because it was on the Saturn.I'm going to say right now, if you have a Saturn, you should definitely get this game.
Dragon Force is a basic strategy game in quasi-realtime, which was pretty well-done, and it has tactical combat.None of it is too in-depth, but the mechanics are good. There is a pretty cool role-playing element with your leaders. They are the most important parts of your army.Often your soldiers' only goal is to kill the enemy soldiers, leaving your leaders to duel.It has a good story for a strategy game, which fits better than I would have thought, especially the ending. In the same vein of thought, the characters and different factions are awesome.
There isn't much to say about the graphics. They're nice, but old.The anime cutscenes, of which there are only 2 or 3, where pretty cool.Dragon Force has pretty nifty music as well, but it was nothing special.
The main thing here is length (a good 50 to 60 hours) and replay value (playing through the game with 2 or 3 factions is definitely worthwhile).Dragon Force is just plain cool.If you have a Saturn, I highly recommend it.

Drakan: Ancients Gates Review

Drakan: Ancients Gates
Average Reviews:

I played this game a lot at E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) in LA, and let me tell you, the final game is SOO much fun to play! I loved the controls, they take a minute to get used to, but once you get the hang of it you can do cool flying maneuvers with the dragon. You can swoop down over enemies and torch them with your fire breath attack. The dragon also has other very cool breath attacks! Controlling Rynn (the girl) is very fun too, and is very consistent with how the dragon is controlled. It is obvious that the developers put a lot of thought into how the controls were laid out, and although they might not be the same as other games, they are a perfect fit for the mixed air and ground style game-play.
This game has a lot of RPG elements, you can build Rynn's skills in 3 areas: magic, weapon combat, or archery. I loved this aspect because you gain experience much like Diablo and can collect gold and treasure that you can spend in stores throughout the game. I loved the way this played as the game progressed, and talking with the friendly characters is very fun because the dialog is extremely witty and funny.
The story and dialog is extremely well written, much better than the first Drakan game on the PC. You get quests and sub-quests from the friendly NPCs, and all the information you need to know is kept in Rynn's Journal, which also has a map to help you along if you get lost.
Rynn's magic is really fun to use as well, you cast spells by moving Rynn's hand in the air in various patterns to summon offensive and defensive spells. You can learn or purchase new spells with gold. The enemies are really fun to fight, no matter which skill you specialize in. Each one will have a different strategy. Magic is good for groups of enemies. Sometimes you get 10 enemies surrounding you at once! Other times hand-to-hand combat is the way to go. Some hand weapons even have magical abilities, and there are shields for defense. Sword combat is so much fun, there are many moves to choose from, much like a fighting game. Archery is more tuned to strategy, you can walk slowly and sneak up on enemies without them hearing you, or you can pick them off from a distance.
I played the demo on the recent PS2 Jampack, which was nice, but it looks like they cut some of the graphics down to reduce the size of the demo. There was also no dialog with other characters or merchants (stores), so it wasn't much like the actually game other than some sword combat and basic dragon flying.
The graphics are the best I've seen on a PS2 yet...the draw distance is amazing, you can see EVERYTHING when flying on the dragon, then swoop down and jump off the dragon and walk inside of a cave. On the ground, you can see individual blades of grass and flowers, and hundreds of trees in dense forests and valleys. This game really does look incredible, much smoother than other PS2 games I saw at E3.
That's most of what I know so far...I'll post more when I get my copy of the real thing, which I have no doubt will me even better than it was during the summer!

I was a little surprised by the earlier negative review based on how easy this game was. The thing I found best about it was that the difficulty is completely variable. Each world/level has many optional tasks that you canchoose to perform or to skip. I can see that you could hurry through bydoing just the minimum for each level but where's the fun in that? It is amarvellous antedote for the rest of the tacky, poorly conceived games thatI have rented for my 7 year old daughter and is the ONLY one I have had anyinterest in playing myself. This one is definately on the Christmas list

The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon Review

The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was a little nervous when I read that a new company would be taking over the Legend of Spyro trilogy to produce this final installment, Dawn of the Dragon. Unlike many reviewers, I prefer this remake over the original Spyro games, because, being a fan of epic fantasy, I enjoy that the game is more mature and mirrors many great fantasy sagas before it, even if this means that the plot is rather predictable.
Dawn of the Dragon begins where The Eternal Night left off, with Spyro, his dragonfly companion Sparx, and former nemesis Cynder trapped in the crystal where Spyro froze them after his battle with Gaul. They are soon freed, and the final quest in the Legend of Spyro trilogy begins. Spyro and Cynder must team up with a host friends and allies, from cheetah warriors to dragon guardians, to defeat Malefor, the Dark Master, who plans to end the world and recreate it as his kingdom of evil.
This game is visually fascinating, with beautiful scenery that illustrates the mood of the game, from the lush meadows of Twilight Falls to the ominous Burned Lands where Malefor resides. This, coupled with an engaging and epic score, sets a sweeping mood of the game and creates a rich fantasy world that I found very exciting to interact with.
The gameplay of Dawn of the Dragon is similar to that of the previous two Legend of Spyro titles, with Spyro controlling the four elements of Fire, Ice, Earth, and Electricity, each of which can be upgraded so that the player can perform a variety of interesting elemental attacks. The game also introduces co-op play with Cynder, who is also given four upgradeable elements: Poison, Wind, Shadow, and Fear. Besides these attacks, the two heroes can also engage in numerous melee combo attacks to battle foes.
Like many reviewers, I agree that, despite the variety of attacks, combat can sometimes become repetitive, with multiple hordes of enemies that seem to have the miraclous ability to continually regenerate. The Burned Lands level particularly irked me, because it seemed I could walk no more than a few feet before I was suddenly enclosed by towering walls and trapped in a swath of enemies with few health and energy crystals to aid me in battle.
That being said, some sections of combat were very exciting and enjoyable. Once you get into the rhythm of the battle, it can often be satisfying to rotate between the four elements at Spyro and Cynder's disposal and watch as you dispose of one foe after another. The boss battle in Dragon City, where Spyro and Cynder are pitted against a towering servant of the Dark Master known as a Golem, is one of my favorites, because the precise timing in combat makes it very challenging and exciting.
Certain parts of the game became irritating after a while, especially the level where Spyro and Cynder are given the task to slay a colossal monster known as the Destroyer by flying around and destroying the dark crystals which power it. Because of limited camera movement, these crystals were difficult to locate, and it soon became more of an annoying chore than a puzzle. The end of that sequence, however, where the two dragons must fly into the monster to destroy the last of the crystals, is both visually fascinating and thrilling.
This brings me to the flying, a new addition to the Spyro franchise. Both dragons are given the ability to take to the air whenever they please, which is very useful when attempting to cross chasms or battling airborne foes. Many reviewers have complained about how the game will often keep you from flying as high as you wish, which limits the game's freedom. Well, what did you expect? That the game would simply let you dash all around wherever you wanted without any limits? Ha! This is a video game, which means that there have to be limits to everything to keep gameplay controlled. Personally, I found flight very enjoyable and airborne combat also extremely engaging and exciting. Overall, it was a great addition to the series.
In summary, Dawn of the Dragon has some faults, but I think that it is a solid conclusion to the Legend of Spyro trilogy. With an epic score and visuals, decent combat, and many enhancing abilities, this game is a very good addition to the platforming genre and the entire Spyro franchise.

Spyro A Hero's Tail Review

Spyro A Hero's Tail
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have always been a rabid Spyro fan, probably more so than what others would consider mentally healthy. The first three Spyro's are still my favorite video games fo all time. I, like many Spyro fans were, was disgusted with Enter The Dragonfly, whichI bought out of loyalty despite bad reviews.

When I saw a video for Spyro A Heroes Tail I had some hope, as it did not appear choppy and laggy like its predecessor. I got the game yesterday and I have gotten through a decent amount of it. I am enjoying the game, but I consider it a new brand of Spyro, as it seems detached from the rest of the series.

Spyro's moves have ben altered, instea of jumping and gliding you now double jump and glide, that took getting used to. There are small things that bother me, basically that there are four homeworlds with only two levels each. Don't get me wrong, the levels are MASSIVE, but it doesn't feel the same, and you walk into the lvels more or less as opposed to taking the "old school" portals.

Rather than the passive slapstick humor used in the other games you often find Spyro giving a commentary to the player, it doesn't work. There seems to be very little connection between this and the other Spyro game's, every voice actor is different (except maybe Sgt. Byrd) and there are new completely useless dragon characters that are Spyro's size. And they turned Moneybags into some kind of Arabian salesman, whats that about?

Overall, the game is slightly above mediocre, and if you are expecting a Spyro returning to tis roots, your in for a dissapointment.

This is a really good game. On wii launch day, as I sat sipping myhot chocolate and thinking about what other game I would get (other than Zelda) and I saw a poster for this game. Im a big fan of Dragonball Z, and I saw it has 120 characters. I didnt even KNOW that there were 120 fighters inexsistence, so I got this game. What a pleasent surprise this was.

The controlls are pretty good, but, dispite this being on the wii, it's still a button masher. You have to hammer away at the poor 'A' button. Energy attacks, however, are a bit more fun. You make motions to corrispond with the attack you are using (for example, kamehameha is back and foreword and spiri bomb is up, then down.) Pretty fun stuff. The arenas are pretty cool too. you get a HUGE circle to fly around in, and EVERY SINGLE THING in it can be destroyed. (including your opponent! xD) As you smash the area around you, sometimes a dragonball will apear. collect all 7, and you get a special skill capsule.

Of course, the real crowning achivement, the reason most people who wouldnt normally buy this game will buy this game, is the number of fighters. The box says 'over 120 characters!' This is misleading though. There is 120, but that includes the characters and their transformations. For example, Goku, SS Goku, SS2 Goku, and SS3 Goku all count as seperate people. Still, you still get about 90 different people, which isn't too shabby. Fighters include:

Goku, Gohan, (the rest of the 'crew') Tapion, Lord slug, Pikkon, Giant ape (FINALLY!) cui, bardock, Androids 16-20, android 13, all the main villens, (buu, cell, etc.) master roshi/jackie chun, plus tons more.

Overall, this is a great game that will probably be overlooked by many. too bad, though, because this is really one of the best fighting games ive played, even if it wasnt about DBZ.

Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga Review

Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga

If you're a fan of older RPGs, you'll likely love this game. The combat and loot are reminiscent of Diablo, where you've got a set of skills and mash the mouse button to attack, while collecting all sorts of ridiculously named equipment. The roleplaying is menu-based like traditional RPGs, and the writing is absolutely excellent--not to mention that for a small cost, you can mindread any NPC to gain new insights, quest information, or just to find out how terrible a day they're having.

The sense of exploration is absolutely excellent, and you could spend 30 hours beating the game and still only have seen half of the content there is to offer.Almost everywhere you go, there's something special to do--the one exception is the Flying Fortresses, but thanks to the redesign that the campaign got in DKS, you can fly right past the boring areas.

The setting is very strongly fantasy, unlike the more muted and serious settings that are prevalent in recent games, and despite this, it never really becomes cliche or boring. The writers manage to create a magical world that doesn't feel like the exact same world we've seen again and again. The quests are well-designed, and some of the puzzles are actually truly challenging.Topping all this off is a strong, witty sense of humor.

If you think that writing and exploration are paramount to an RPG, you'll likely love Divinity 2.

The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon

Insomniac has taken all the best elements of the first two Spyro games, brought them into the third, spruced them up and added a whole lot more from their bag of tricks to provide the best Spyro game to date. This time around, Spyro -- with the help of his friends from Spyro 2 -- is trying to rescue dragon eggs from an evil sorceress. (Said eggs always hatch just as he gets them, treating the player to a brief animation of a baby dragon.) The environment is more interactive, with cannons, submarines, skateboards and more to play with. And the most dramatic change from the previous two games is that in addition to playing as Spyro, the game features play as Sparx the Dragonfly (in old school videogaming action), Bentley the Yeti (who plays whack-a-gnome and boxes), Sgt. Byrd the flying commando penguin, Shiela (who has a sidescrolling platform game in addition to her high-jumping levels) and Agent 9 the crazed space monkey (whose Doom parody level has to be seen to be believed). And through it all, the animation, voice work and overall design is flat-out charmig. Easier than Spyro 1, larger and more impressive than Spyro 2, "Spyro: Year of the Dragon" is this Playstation series going out with a bang. Great fun for the whole family.

The Legend of Dragoon Review

The Legend of Dragoon
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Legend of Dragoon has a very innovative battle system that uses combination attacks called "additions".This is innovative partly because it does require constant concentration and precise timing to execute.Basically, additions allow your characters to increase the damage caused by their physical attacks. You have to push the controller buttons at the precise moment in order to execute these additions. And, do not expect to master all of the additions for any of the characters. The most powerful additions require too many timed button presses to execute reliably.
The story is fairly standard RPG material. You play as the main character, Dart.Dart is on a journey to avenge the destruction of his village and the death of his parents.Along the way, he meets up with some very eccentric adventurers who follow him on his quests for their own personal reasons. What starts out as a journey for revenge turns out to be something more significant. As the story unfolds, it turns out that what people have believed for 10,000 years may not be the actual truth. What God had in mind for humans may not be in our best interest.Dart and company travel across three nations to try and unravel the mystery.
This game is a very good alternative to the Final Fantasy series for those who love to hack, slash, bash, and cast spells. The battle system here is much better than Final Fantasy X's.This is perhaps the most sophisticated RPG for the original playstation.Playing the game in a PS2 supposedly gives the graphics a boost, but I have not had a chance to compare them side by side.I can say that on a PS2, the graphics are very good. The soundtrack sounds great and the variety is wide enough so that the game is pleasant to play for long hours at a time.I believe it took me over 100 hours to finish the game and the side quests.

This game is a very fun game.Very well made. You play Spyro(DUH), a young dragon. All the other dragons(I think there are 60 or so of them),have been captured and turned to stone, and are scattered about in the different worlds. The Dragon Eggs have been stolen by theives who are running around and hiding in different worlds. The dragon's treasure is lying around everywhere(not to mention alot of it has been turned into enemies). And who is the cause of this?GNASTY GNORC.And now, as Spyro, you must save the dragons, find the eggs, collect the treasure and defeat Gnasty Gnorc.Ok,that's the plot basicall; now here is what the game is like:As Spyro, your mission is to(As I said before) save the dragons, find the tresure and rescue the eggs.Being a young dragon, your wings are not fully grown,so you can not fly.You can, however, glide over short distances. You also have the ability to(Of course)breathe fire and charge with your horns. There are several worlds throughout the game. Each of these worlds has one home level, and in each of the home levels, there are doorway/portholes through which lie other levels for the worlds. In each of the worlds there will be dragons, treasure and eggs.
Dragons:These have been turned to stone by Gnasty Gnorc. To save them you simply find them, then walk up to them or charge at them or Flame them. They will then come back to life and talk to you before flying away. Some will give you advice, others will thank you, and some will just talk (sometimes insulting you).
Treasure:Treusure is just lying around in different places. Most of the enemies turn into treasure(which looks like gem stones). Some treasure are in chests. Most chests can be rammed or flamed to open them, but some requre dynamite or fire works or other ways to open them.
Eggs: These are held by theives. To get them, you must chase after the theif and ram or flame him.
Enemies: There is a large variety of enemies (most enemies are really treasure that have been turned into minions for Gnasty Gnorc). Most can be killed by ramming or flaming, though some are armored and can only be hurt by flaming and not by ramming or visa versa. Some boss enemies, however, require special battle tactics.
There are also fairies who will help you in some way. Some will catch you if your falling, and will move you to safety, while others will give you a Super Strong fire breath(which will allow you to flame armored enemies).Hovering above Spyro is a dragonfly. The color of the dragon fly shows you your current health. Green, if your have full health, and red if you are very hurt.He will disappear if you get hurt when he is red.In each home world there are guys with hot air ballons. These ballooners tell you what you must do in that world for them to take you to the next world (you can always return to past worlds later to pck up anything you might have missed). In most worlds you usually have to find a certain number of dragons, treasure or eggs. Finally, you will get to Gnasty's world, where you will have to fight Gnasty Gnorc.
Well, that's "Spyro the Dragon".I recommend this game to anyone who has Playstation. It's not a waste of money,I assure you.

Monster Hunter Freedom 2 Review

Monster Hunter Freedom 2
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Monster Hunter Freedom 2 is by far the best version of one of the best video games ever made (I've played all US and Japan versions). Lots of little improvments over the Japanese PS2 release makes this worth the wait. The best dragon/creature fighting experience you can have in a game - but it takes work and patience to get there.

Huge hit in Japan, but so-so in USA outside its core fans. Reviewers calling for auto-target miss the whole point of this game: it's all about developing the skill to target specific areas of each monster (and then not getting killed!). Camera is definitely weird at first, but once you get the hang of it you'll be wishing other games used the same system. Basically YOU have to point the camera, it doesn't move for you! Final aspect of game is it takes patience to do a little farming, mining, bug catching activities - something I enjoy but not for everyone, however, with new version you can minimize those activities if you just want to bust some monsters up. Some people may never get over those hurdles, which is fine - there are plenty of games that I don't like that are still great games. I can guarantee that if you spend enough time with the game so the camera and weapons system are second nature, you are in for some of the most heart-thumping monster battles you could ever imagine, and the beasts keep coming and coming! If I made a list of my top 10 gaming moments, probably 8 or 9 would be things that happened in MH - and I've played plenty of other games.

Need to get WIFI max and KAI for online play - not directly supported at this time, but it works OK. Ad-hoc face to face is great fun for up to 4 people. MHF2 has more weapons & armor than you'll ever be able to use, faster load times, stabilized camera, and loads of other improvements that make this the best time to give Monster Hunter a decent go.

Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Stardust Accelerator World Championship Tournament 2009 Review

Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's Stardust Accelerator World Championship Tournament 2009
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Overall I thought the game was pretty good. I used to play actively about 4-5 years ago and figured I'd pick it up to see what's all changed in the over all metagame. I've got to say the structure of the game itself hasn't changed much but all of these new cards make yu-gi-oh a whole new battle field. I was surprised when a duelist whipped out a syncro monster on me since I had never seen it before, but being a quick learner like I am - it took some time (going from graveyard to graveyard reading what this card does and what that card does) to get back into it and become average at the game again.

It's just as the guy said a couple reviews below, the deck you start out with is pretty weak. The opponents you play have pretty much themed decks (be it one deck based off of umi, another deck based off of zombies, etc). I think I'd win 2 or 3 rounds of of 6 duels.

It's fairly easy to rake in DP (Duel-Points) when you first start out, because your winning new bonuses and getting 100 DP alone for that new bonus. The bonuses are obtained after a battle and could be anything from:
-Decking your opponent out
-Max Attack Bonus (Getting A Monsters Attack High by Effect/Equip Cards, Etc)
-Exodia Finish Bonus
-FINAL Finish Bonus
-Etc...

My main advice for obtaining new cards is duel as much as possible and save up your DP, then go purchase all the packs in that specific set. There's 50 packs per set & your spending 150 DP, so you'll need 7500 DP per card pack (box per say). I started doing it this way because one guy had mentioned below that you get a lot of repeats on cards (which is true). If you buy the packs 50 at a time per set (Set being like Beginner Pack #1, Beginner Pack #2 respectively, etc), you'll obtain 90%+ of that specific set and you could move on to buying new sets of cards while getting your deck a lot better. Near the end of the game my deck mainly consisted of throw back cards (1900 4 Star Attackers like Spear Dragon, Archfiend Soldier, Mad Dog of Darkness, etc), these were obtained within the first set of packs offered in the game.

I was surprised when I was reading through the game and saw that there were 3 dueling styles : Normal, Speed Duel & Tag Duel. Being out of the game so long, I thought, "Oh crap - what's a speed duel?". To sum this up to any of the new comers, a speed duel is supposedly done on your motorcycle in the game (Your not operating the bike and dueling at the same time, your just dueling with a different background, seek youtube for example speed duels). Your given these things called speed counters, which are basically obtained each turn (they're incremented by 1). In order to use magic cards (spell cards, which they call "Speed Spell Cards"), they cost a specific amount of Speed Counters. I thought this was pretty interesting because each player wasn't able to use good spell cards until around the 8th or 10th turn, which if you had a deck of decent trap cards, could put you ahead of your opponent. Overall thought what I liked about Speed Duels were that it didn't have a limit on what speed spells could be use. For example Raigeki is banned from standard play, but in a Speed Duel you could use it at the cost of 12 Speed Counters - you can also have 3 Raigeki's in your deck - this is however the same with your opponent. What I found lame about Speed Duels were that you had a whole new different deck, along with a whole new different pack set for specific speed spells.

Initially, you have your stand alone spell cards such as heavy storm. The normal heavy storm card isn't allowed in a speed duel, if you want to use it you'll need the card "Speed Spell - Heavy Storm", which has to be obtained by purchasing the booster pack of Speed Spells. I didn't like the fact that your speed deck had to be a whole new different deck, this made memake use of the read recipe, delete recipe feature offered in this game, so whenever I was normal dueling or speed dueling, I could just use the same cards from my initial deck, in my speed deck (and then would just have to take out my normal spell cards). Overall though, I found the Speed Duels highly overrated and the decks of the players who you fight in Speed Duels pretty weak. Your actually at an advantage here because it costs to play spell cards, so take advantage of that!

The other two dueling styles are of course your normal and tag duels. My favorite was the tag duel offered in this game. You basically get to team up with a player in the game and go against 2 other players. This was interesting to me because when I played the game physically and we used to tag duel, we'd have our own monster, magic / trap fields and would have to wait til everyone made their first move (around the table), then we could start attacking, etc. In this game, you share the field with your partner so if your opponent starts out first and doesn't set a monster & it's your turn, you can attack directly. Being able to team up with a person from the game let me learn the strategy of that persons deck & have fun at the same time.

I had read a comment about how does the motorcycle have an affect on this game. Its basically for show, you have a motorcycle & have to get away from the police a few times, so they put you on a race track and you have to complete it in a given amount of time to get away successfully. It's pretty stand alone driving. Press A to Accelerate, Press B to slow down, use your D-Pad to navigate. The motorcycle doesn't play a huge part in the game it adds in for extra fun when your tired of dueling and want to race with it or something though. I went through the whole game without even upgrading parts so I wouldn't suggest you event waste your DP on it.

Overall though, I'd give this game an 8.5 out of 10. I appreciated the fact that it brought me back to the times when I used to play & introduced me to new styles of playing (the syncro scene & all). I picked up on alot. The -1.5 on the score I give it was because the overall campaign mode was way too short, lucky they give you a world championship mode where you can continue dueling and upgrading your deck though, so you'll have that to do after you beat the main mode.

Ninja Gaiden Review

Ninja Gaiden
Average Reviews:

Before this game was released I was somewhat looking forward to it, but not with a great interest. Well thats until I actually played it. Thefirst thing to blow me away were the graphics. They are absolutely breathtaking. TheCG movies, the in game graphics, special effects, just amazing. But the game isn't all graphics and no gameplay. Believe it or not, the gameplay is actually better than the graphics. You can do everything you've seen ninjas do in movies. Swinging, climbing, wall running and of course slashing peoples limbs off. And it all just looks so real. The moves and weapons are also fantastic. Some of the coolest moves I've seen in any game for awhile. They are also easyfor beginners, but hardcore gamers can spend alot of time on perfecting them. The stages are very varied and very large, the sound is nice and the enemies and weapons are also very varied. One problem that many people may have is the game's difficulty. It is very hard. The first boss, for example, is exceptionally difficult. If you persist, however, you will be greatly rewarded.
