Tales of Destiny Review

Tales of Destiny
Average Reviews:

I've played too many games to even remember most of em' and I decided to buy Tales of Destiny due to an urge to have a new RPG. I wasn't sure of what to expect, I thought it'd probably be some lame no name chance out ofnowhere like Tecmo's Secret of the Stars. But then I played it, now thisgame hit me pretty hard considdering what my idea of it was. I couldn'tstop playing, I played this unique battle system and the storyline until Icouldn't stay awake. I played this game for two and a half days streight. Ididn't even do this for Final Fantasy 7 or Suikoden, this is a game thatyou wanna play more and more of. very powerful plot indeed but the graphicswere certainly weak, I mean they were pretty bad(not as bad a Lunar SilverStar Story Complete's but still pretty weak.) However the music was thebest part about the game I think that it beat out any other game's music. Most games have their strongpoints and that's it. Xenogears has the bestplot I've ever seen. Suikoden has the best battle system I ever seen. FinalFantasy 8 has the best graphics I've ever seen. But Tales of Destiny havethem all balanced out(cept the graphics). I'd reccomend this game toanybody accept the people who only play a game for it's graphics. ~Seth~

Yu-Gi-Oh Power of Chaos: Joey the Passion Review

Yu-Gi-Oh Power of Chaos: Joey the Passion
Average Reviews:

Like a lot of Yu-Gi-Oh fans, my son enjoyed collecting the trading cards but didn't really know how to play the card game.He and I would PRETEND to play it, but we weren't really following the rules (which are fairly complicated). But this software changed that -- he can now play the game properly and even win a fair amount of the time.(Me too!)You have to be willing to get beat several times at first, but persistence will pay off, and it eventually becomes pretty fun and addictive.

We don't own the "Yugi" or "Kaiba" versions of this game, but I'd guess that Joey is more fun to duel against. His trash-talking lines are kind of funny, even though they get old after repeated playings. And if you have 2 computers on your home network, you can have 2-player duels.(You don't have to own 2 copies of the game CD.Just start the game on one computer then take the disc out and then start it on the 2nd computer). We haven't tried the BattleLAN method of playing via Internet, but I'm going to check that out.

Final Fantasy VII, Platinum Edition Review

Final Fantasy VII, Platinum Edition
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you liked this review, feel free to click my name and check out my others.

One of the best selling games of all time. This is a practically perfect translation of the Sony Playstation title for PC users. Follow the adventure of a mercenary and his band of adventurers seeking to protect the earth from certain destruction at the hands of a vicious corporation, an unstoppable warrior, and black destructive magic that in the wrong hands could doom the planet.

If you are a fan of more recent FF titles like FFX X2 or XI, you will be disappointed by the graphics. However, don't let that deter you from the action, the mystery, and the story that has kept this reviewer coming back to the game every year. The game features a fully navigable globe allowing you to explore dozens of towns, caves, and even regions underwater! I might add though that this is a long game. The first act plays out like a cyber-punk fantasy completely enclosed within the walls of a dark and polluted super-metropolis. By the time most other games have been beaten, you're finally leaving the city to discover the world outside. That's when the real fun begins.

The game play on this title is also a high point. The systems by which magic and other abilities are managed is fairly easy to understand and fun to experiment with. Those who seek to find new and more effective combinations of magic, skills, and weapons will find themselves addicted to strategizing in this game. The cinematic effects during battle are something to see too. there's something exhilerating about calling a dragon down from the sky to dispatch punishment on some tough enemies.

Having played both the PS and PC versions, I have to say I am partial to the PC version. It offers identical gameplay with the bonus that your PC allows you to save an insane amount of game data, take screen shots, or even collect video. Also, there are plenty of fansites on the web offering free downloads of patches, hacks, and editors if you'd like to experiment with characters, items, and magic.

Check it out. It's a true classic.

Need For Speed: Most Wanted Review

Need For Speed: Most Wanted
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The game is fast and fun, but with some tearing on the PS2 version. Poor PS2, it just can't handle the speed anymore. I can't wait for the PS3. I have a 41" Sony XBR Tube TV and my eyes were bleeding the first night of play. Wow!! My eye doctor gave me a bottle of teardrops for playing these types of games. Your eyes don't get washed by normal blinking and dry out because you're concentrating so much. Get yourself some REFRESH TEARS if you play race games for hours on end. You'll need it here. The graphics are good with nice rain and sunlight effects. The Dolby Pro Logic is some of the best surround I've heard in a game. The thunder coming out of my rear effects speakers was incredible. There's a WIDESCREEN feature. There is an option to mix the 26 songs in the jukebox anyway you like. I don't care for Hip Hop so I turned it all off and put all the Heavy Metal in random order. You can also sample every song to make your choice. If you don't like Heavy Metal or Hip Hop you can turn it ALL off and just listen to the sounds of the engines purring. The MENUS are confusing at first as there are many sub-menus within sub-menus. It took me 15 minutes just to figure out how to get out of CAREER MODE. (You must PAUSE, go to your SAFE HOUSE, and GO BACK two times to find the MAIN MENU.) It's not the most user friendly menu system I've seen.

This time NEED FOR SPEED mixes the free roaming city of the UNDERGROUND series with the heavy police presence of THE HOT PURSUIT games. The game has a million tracks and a million things to do.

The meat of the game is the CAREER MODE. This is where you acquire the stats in EVENTS, MILESTONE COMPETITIONS, and CHALLENGES to be challenged by the 15 MOST WANTED on THE BLACKLIST and open all the cars and some of the juicier parts for the cars. You'll meet all the characters in FMV which is a little weird, but kind of cool, for a racing game. The acting is good, but you can forward through all of them if you just want to race. Some of the characters will give you hints via messages on the SMS cellphone and email feature which you can manage by either keeping or deleting them. Along with acquiring stats you'll also need to make your presence known to the police and collect needed BOUNTY points so that when you have enough BOUNTY and stats you'll be challenged by a rival on THE BLACKLIST. Your RAP sheet contains all the info about your ALIAS. The funniest stat was for the amount of damage you've caused the State. CAREER MODE is where you FREE ROAM which is really unnecessary because you'll find yourself getting into the BLACKLIST with the press of a button to enter the events you need to be challenged by a rival. Once you enter an EVENT, CHALLENGE, MILESTONE COMPETITION or BOUNTY, it takes you were you need to go. There are also ICONS throughout the city that are also unnecessary for certain EVENTS. Just go into the BLACKLIST MENU to check off the things you need. However, you will need the WORLD MAP display to set the GPS system to show you where the parts SHOPS are. You can't go directly to them from the BLACKLIST or PAUSE MENU. You'll need to drive to them. You can get to the SAFE HOUSE (your garage) by just pressing the PAUSE button. You don't have to drive there. To me the free roaming around the city is rather moot unless you want to get the lay of the city for when the cops are chasing you. I just wing it with the MINI MAP provided in the lower left corner of the screen looking for the SPEEDBREAKER and COOL DOWN spots. The only time you use the whole city, which opens up later with more sections, is when you're running from the cops. The rest of the events are set courses that you must follow to beat.

Other MODES are QUICK RACE with QUICK PLAY where the game gives you the car for the track you select. The manual tells you to play this MODE because it will unlock special cars or items you can't unlock in other parts of the game. There's also CUSTOM RACE in QUICK PLAY where you use a separate garage with a limited choice of cars until you open up the rest of the cars in CAREER MODE. You can also set the number of laps and the number of rivals for most events. There's SPLIT SCREEN for head to head racing and THE CHALLENGE SERIES, which was the meat of the game in NEED FOR SPEED HOT PURSUIT 2.

RACE TYPES include CIRCUIT, DRAG, LAP KNOCKOUT, SPEEDTRAP, SPRINT, and TOLLBOOTH.

The cars are great, but limited, and can be customized. Visual CUSTOMIZATION is rather needless for reasons I mention below. I love the MUSTANG FASTBACK. As a teen in the late 70's and early 8o's, I street raced a '66 MUSTANG with a 289 punched out to a 302, a Holley 4 barrel, a high-speed rearend, a low race cam, turbo flow mufflers, anti-sway bars, and a Cruisematic transmission. That's it!! We didn't use nitrous or computers. And that car was the fastest quarter-miler in the whole San Fernando Valley in SO CAL. The only car that ever came close to beating me was a CORVETTE. That dreaded CORVETTE is in the game too. The FORD GT is a great car and one of my favorites from GRAN TURISMO. I'm glad they included the LAMBORGINIS from HOT PURSUIT, but where are the FERRARIS? Where else can you destroy a $250,000 FERRARI and just go get another one. Bummer. You will be driving the lesser cars for a while until you earn enough money to buy better ones, but even the smaller cars FLY when you get them souped up. VERY NICE!! VERY FAST!!

One of the best things about the NEED FOR SPEED series are the car physics. HOT PURSUIT 2 did them a little better, but when you get off the road into the dirt or grass your car spins it's tires a little. When you get back on the pavement you can really feel the car gripping the asphalt. I like them better than the floaty rocket car physics of MIDNIGHT CLUB and BURNOUT. The physics are a combination of simulator and arcade. JUST AWESOME!!

WARNING TO REPLAY FANATICS: There is no REPLAY RACE feature in the game to review big events. I've only played the UNDERGROUND series on DEMO, but NEED FOR SPEED HOT PURSUIT 2 (which is my favorite racer of all time) had this feature. As do most other racing games. To me, this is a glaring oversight by EA. Having a racing game without a REPLAY is like not having one of the best features. What's the point of all the visual customization and car damage when you only see your car in the garage and at the start of a race and you're only gonna be looking at it from behind for the rest of the game? A lot of the fun is watching yourself drive after pulling off some ridiculously insane driving techniques or after causing some major damage in a police pursuit. My friends and I love to REPLAY awesome races, critique the driving, and pat ourselves on the back. It's part of the reward for a challenge well done. I mentioned this to a friend and he just groaned. I know it's not a simulator but it should be a STANDARD feature in ALL racing games. Do the race cameras eat up that much memory? I don't think so. EA blew it BIG TIME by not including this feature!! I was really having fun my first night at the game and had taken down 2 of the 15 rivals on THE BLACKLIST in CAREER MODE. But, not having a REPLAY RACE feature almost SINKS this game for me. This game would get a solid 9 from me, but not having a REPLAY brings down my score!! WHAT A DISAPPONITMENT!! I FEEL LIKE SOMEONE HAS CHOPPED OFF MY RIGHT ARM AND I CAN'T SHIFT MY RICE BURNER.

I also filled out the game registration at EA's website and have yet to receive the hints and cheat codes they promised by email. Juggleheads!!

If you can get past the fact that the game has no REPLAY feature, you're going to have a lot of fun. Me, I just can't get over it. I WANT MY REPLAY CAMERA!! I guess I'll have to turn off all the lights in my house, grab a bottle of Jack, and weep by myself in the corner.

ENJOY.

At best, UFC throwdown (the 1st PS2 UFC game) was a 2 Star because it was a duplicate (perhaps worse replication) of the original UFC for Dreamcast. This version however is a vast improvement in my opinion. It still isnt as good as it could potentially be. Being a huge MMA fan I'm glad they are still making these games though it's a lot funner than any other kind of fighting simulation out there and a whole lot more realistic.
The New features that are an improvement over UFC throwdown:
Actual damage will appear on the fighters where they are being attacked (cuts and bruising on the face and body)
New positions in the game are side mount, Standing grapple up against the cage, and a new brutal looking position, it is a mount with the opponent crunched into the cage sitting up akwardly. There are also some updated fighting techniques for all of the fighters that they more commonly use in the ring presently.
There is better music when fighters are comming to the ring although their enterance body movements are very robotic and in their basic standing mobility i believe the game series took a backwards step.
There are new fighting modes such as Story mode where you create a fighter and go through a career of fighting.
Another fighting mode is called CHAMPION ROAD, THIS mode was definitly an improvement on the series I won the championship belt with Matt Hughs in his weight division and then i was able to take on challengers for my belt in another series of matches called LEGEND MODE. This is definitly fun, I will have a lot of fun winning the belt with all of my favorite UFC fighters. On a side note you actually get to carry your belt into the ring with you on your enterance when you are a defending champion, I liked that.
Ken Shamrock is in the game and so is Dan Severn, have your favorite old school warriors go at it one more time!
The game is definitly worth the $20.00. You can't beat the value you get from this game and the replay ability it has to offer for that price. If you were thinking about getting this game JUST GET IT!!! You cant be dissapointed with the price it's at.

The Sims 2 Special DVD Edition Review

The Sims 2 Special DVD Edition
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Well, after two days of owning Sims 2 I think that I have gotten enough play time in to write a comprehensive review.(...)

Alright, on to the review.I have both positive and negative things to say about Sims 2.Sorry, this is probably going to be a long review.

POSITIVE:

*Maxis has thrown a bit of Sim City into the mix.You can either play one of the pre-created neighborhoods or you can start from scratch. This option is fantastic! You can choose the layout, build houses or place houses already built onto the lots.No more wondering if you already have a house at lot #5 before downlaoding because you can place the house ANYWHERE you want!

*While playing the game you can connect to Maxis (if you have internet connection) and dowload new Maxis created items directly into the game.

*The Wants and Fears addition to Sims 2 is alot of fun.Even if they tend to get repetitive.

*It's alot easier for your Sims to Socialize in Sims 2.Now they will receive telephone calls from people who just want to talk, they can chat online and send and receive e-mails.Plus your Sims will sometimes bring people home with them from work or school.AND you can now socialize with (and even marry) what were previously non-interactive character like cashiers, the maid, and the paper deliverer.

*The Sims now have days off from work and vacation days.Needless to say, this creates alot more free time for your Sims to concentrate on other things.

*You can distinguish between family members and roommates. So no more awkward "Flowers in the Attic" moments.

*I haven't actually built a house but I love having the option of building more than 2 floors.Plus you can now shape the roof for more realistic and more luxurious houses.

*You can choose from a whole outfit or you can mix and match tops and bottoms. And with a mirror you can change the color and cut of your Sims hair and add and remove make-up and facial hair.

*Some reviewers were discussing the load time of Sims 2.I am running it on a Compaq Presario X1000 Notebook computer and so far the game has not crashed on me once.Furthermore, I haven't had any problems (crosses fingers) with the load times.I suppose the true test will be after I begin adding more objects, clothing, and genetics to the game.

*I was happy to see that you can still create community lots.Right now it's limited to basically parks, grocery stores, and clothing botiques but I'm sure restaurants and such will be coming with an expansion pack.

*Having your Sims age is a great addition to the game.Plus children now have alot more functions. They won't just stand around all day with their stupid "Ha-ha Who-who" and annoy the crap out of you (experienced Simmers know what I'm talking about).Ah yes, and teenagers can now get jobs!No free rides for for anyone anymore!

*The Sims act alot more natural in Sims 2.Like if one Sims is reading a book, they will look up if someone sits next to them, sometimes even talk to them.Their actions are much more fluid and natural and less robotic. In general, the Sims act alot more like real people than in the original Sims (it's especially noticable with the children).

*There are now little multiple choice scenarios that your Sims will experience.Your Sim will be given two or three choices and depending on which option you choose the outcome can be positive or negative. You could, for instance, be promoted for the choice you make or lose an entire day's worth of pay (These are just a couple I have personally experienced).

NEGATIVE:

*Creating family relationships isn't as liberal as I was expecting it to be.For instance, if you have an Adult Sim and a Teenage Sim living in a household, the Teenage Sim HAS to be the child of the Adult Sim.This was a problem for a family I was trying to create where a Teenage Sim lived with her Aunt.I haven't tested it yet, but it might be possible to do this the long way (create two sisters and a teenage child and whack the mother).I suppose it would just be easier if you could create them from the start.Same thing I noticed with an elderly couple whom I wanted to have an adult son and a teenage son.The only way to make the family possible was to make the teenager the son of the adult son :(But still, I'm thankful you can distinguish whether your Sims are roomies or siblings. It spares those awkward moments when your Sibling Sims start flirting withor making out with each other (Eww)

*The Sims age really fast!Luckily there's a cheat code you can use to turn off the aging process.

*Furnishings available in the game seem really limited and eventhough you can pick and choose from a variety of colors, nothing seems to match.Same thing with clothing. It seems like there's just like 10 outfits in 10 different colors.I'm sure Maxis is leaving this open for downloadables and expansion packs.

*Not all the modifying options available in Sims 2 Body Shop are actually available in the game when creating families. So I would suggest creating the faces for your families in Body Shop before playing the game and then they will be automatically added as a head choice in the game.

*For the most part, I am enjoying the 3D graphics. It took me awhile to get adjusted to the zoom, but now it's alot easier. The only problem I have is that some household items (like refridgerators and windows) don't go invisible while zooming past them and they can sometimes block your view. It's not really a big issue though.

So these are a few of my first impressions of The Sims 2.Perhaps I will write another review when I have gotten more play time in, but so far I am not disappointed one bit with my purchase. So, if you are a fan of the Sims or have just been wanting to check out what the buzz was all about, I would highly recommend adding Sims 2 to your collection.

Just received my Spectec 11g card yesterday. I have a Verizon Q9c smartphone. Installed the software from the web based on other recommendations to avoid the software shipped. Plugged in the chip and bam! there was my network at home. Put in my WPA passwword and away I went surfing. Very cool and very fast. The coolest part is that I don't have to turn off the phone to swap out the chips. I just pop out the memory card and slide in the WIFI card and visa versa no problem.

PlayStation Eye Review

PlayStation Eye
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased the Eye Camera seperate from the Eye of Judgement game becasue I really don't play card games. The reason I purchased the camera was so that I could use it with my 5 yr. old who has recently taken an interest in animation. With the free download available on the PSN, you are able to leverage this clever device to do all sorts of fun and unique things. But first, I'll address the camera from a hardware perspective:

It's well built, and sturdy looking. The camera pivots from left to right on it's base, but cannot be adjusted to look up or down. The camera auto-focuses, and seems to do a nice job of it.The lens does twist to provide a "zoom" view of the subject as well.Perhaps the thing I was most impressed with is the sound quality it is able to capture.I recorded a few demo videos to test the functionality, and found that you can easily sit 10 feet from the camera and talk in very normal tones and the camera picks it all up beautifully. The sound is rich and full.I have not had the chance to video chat with it yet, but from what I have seen, it will be nice and easy. The 360 offers a similar product, but the image quality and frame rates are not quite as good, and you are required to wear a headset to transmit voice and pick up sound.Overall, I am pleased with it from a hardware aspect, with he only real downsides being the fact that you cannot pivot the lens up or down.

No software comes with the camera.Instead, you must grab it from the Playstation Store on the PSN.It is a free download, and takes up very little space. The software itself is easy, but does have a small learning curve due to the fact that it does not come with much in the way of detailed instructions. However, anyone with any technological saavy will be up and running in no time.Capturing video is easy and fun.If you are expecting fancy editing software, you'll be dissapointed here, but that isn't the point. The ability to save your videos to the PS3 HD is great, and the fact that they can be transferred to a PC (via a USB storage device) is really cool--especially considering that you can then turn around and email them to family/friends or post them on YouTube. The software offers several effects including various colors filters and distortion modes, as well as the ability to do stop motion and time lapse. The latter two effects are the main reasons I purchased the camera, and I could not be more pleased with how they work. For time lapse, you can set the cam to snap a photo every 5, 10, or 30 seconds, and simply leave the camera untouched for hours on end, simply to return and view the results later.I have left the camera on--pointing out a window--overnight to watch the sunrise. What a neat option! The stop-motion animation function is unbelievably simple. You snap several photos in succession, and then the software combines them into a single video file. You can fit up to 100 frames into each scene, and then the various scenes can be combined to form one long stop-motion movie. For adults out there that are maybe having trouble finding fun things to do with their kids and are intimidated by today's complex video games, I can tell you firsthand that this is a breath of fresh air, and a great way to to intereact with the young ones.

The overall image quality is pretty good. One thing I do not like about the software, is that if you tweak it for specific lighting array, you aren't able to save those settings, which means you need to change them each time you begin using the camera again. There really isn't any excuse for this, but know that changing these settings probably takes less than 30 seconds.

Great product overall.Mind you, this isn't a hi-def camera, but it gives you the tools to do things on a console that have never been done before. In the very near future, there will be additional software released for the camera via the PSN Store. One that intrigues me is an aquarium simulator that looks eerily realistic. The fish react to movement on the camera, which sounds like a great thing to have on the background if you are having people over. All in all, I am pleased with this product and I hightly reccomend it.

Naruto Shipuden: Ultimate Ninja Heroes 3 Review

Naruto Shipuden: Ultimate Ninja Heroes 3
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Heroes 3 continues the tradition of Cyber Connect 2's dedication to the Naruto series with the release of Ultimate Ninja Heroes 3 on the PSP.Unlike other releases, this game sets its self apart by having a cast of around 50 or so playable characters from the Naruto Shippuden universe, and goes beyond the Rescue Gaara arc of Shippuden.I wont say how far along in the story it goes but lets just it covers a substantial amount of ground. The game even features a Sasuke specific storyline, so some fanservice has been included.

The game features a variety of missions types, most are fight centric with various objectives needed to be done (for example, winning with a ninjutsu, or finishing in awakening mode).Others are more of the enemies have high attack power.Though the game incorporates tactics, in which you can purchase and use the same boosts in battle, such as higher jumping ability, or all allies have high attack. The game allows for four players to battle at once as well (and these are incorporated into story mode too).

Presentation wise, the game looks nice and uses clips from the anime to tell the story.A few parts of the story have been omitted in order to streamline the experience, so you wont see everything that we have seen in past Shippuden games (basically every single battle in the Gaara arc isnt included). The English voice actors return and you can choose Japanese voices.Graphically the game is lush and pretty. There is some cel-shading used in the ultimate jutsus which does the attacks justice. The music sounds reminiscent of that which we heard in Ultimate Ninja Storm for the PS3 (same flutes and other instruments), sounds very Naruto-like.On the stages where you run and such, there are some framerate slips but they arent that noticeable and there are some jagged lines then, but otherwise nothing to tarnish the fun.You have to be a stickler for graphics to point it out.

Ultimately, this is the ideal Naruto game to get on the PSP for the Shippuden story as it has a huge cast of characters, tons of ninjutsu's, and covers the Shippuden storyline, it is the definitive Naruto experience on the PSP.

don't get suckered in to buying this game. it was again rushed to the market to capitalize on the popularity of the movie. a typical well playing games takes 18 months to 2 years to make it to the market but with a lot of these rush to market games it is just the basic sequences played with some familiar characters. it took my 9 year old about 5 hours to play through the entire game.

PlayStation Move Navigation Controller Review

PlayStation Move Navigation Controller
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
One of the questions most people will have is: is the Move Navigation Control required to play the Move? The quick answer is--not right now. I'll put it another way: I ordered one with my Playstation Move Starter Bundle. After playing 5 different Move games and demos, it's still unopened in the package. My guess is it'll stay that way for a while.

The Move Navigation controller is really just a Dualshock controller that's designed to fit in one hand more comfortable. As with the Dualshock, it has a joystick, four directional buttons, and the most commonly used "X" and "O" Playstation buttons all within easy reach of your thumb.

Sony designed the Move controller (wisely IMO) not to have a joystick nor directional buttons. That makes it simpler and more elegant, but it also makes certain things (such as scrolling through a menu list of options) awkward to do with the Move controller alone (although not impossible--you can navigate through menus using the Move controller alone by pressing and holding the Trigger button and moving the controller up, down, left, and right).

But so far I've found so far that just holding the Dualshock in my left hand and controlling the buttons and joystick with my left thumb is sufficient, if a little clunky, for most of what I need to do (unless you have freakishly long thumbs the "X" button will be hard to reach--but happily, pressing the "Move" button on the Move controller will do what you need in most cases).

I'd assumed that like the Wii Nunchuk the Navigation Controller would have motion control built-in so you can control the on-screen action with both hands. It doesn't. For games that require motion control using two hands, you'll need to buy a second Move Controller. Most games that support two-handed operation will also provide the option to play one-handed, but I strongly recommend getting the second Move Controller, as it makes the experience truly immersive. Gladiator Duel on Sports Champions is a great example.

As new games are created for the Move I'm sure the Navigation Controller will become more useful, especially with FPS-type games where you need to move and shoot at the same time. But if you're looking to save a little money, I'd recommend holding off on the Navigation controller for now and spending the money on a second Move controller instead until you find a game that really needs it.

SOCOM U.S. Navy Seals Fireteam Bravo 2 Review

SOCOM U.S. Navy Seals Fireteam Bravo 2
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In this game you are a U.S. Navy Seal, the most lethal fighting force in the world. As a seal (SEa Air Land) you work in two man fireteams and are forced to go through a variety of elements. Camoflouged and equiped with real-world weapons. Your arsenal includes assault riffles such as the M16, M4, XM8, SFCR LW and HW, and AK-47 as well as many other types of weapons and explosives. The missions can prove to be difficult and you must learn to use team commands and be extremely stealth. You have your choice of partners, Wrath a master of stealth, Bronco a close range fighter, and Lonestar a sharpshooter. The infacture mode is good but it does have a slight tendancy to freeze. Overall this is a great game combining shooting and stealth, a must-buy for all PSP owners!

Pac-Man World 3 Review

Pac-Man World 3
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this game early so I wasn't sure what to expect but I ended up being very pleased with the game. This Pac-man mirrors the PS2 version closely (thats what I've heard). You run around as Pac-man himself (or another character(s) later on if you unlock them) and punch, stomp (or triple stomp), jump, spin charge and more through levels.Collecting powerups gives you temporary powers like being able to eat enemies and another has this yellow ribbon follow you that allows you to create an awesome explosion if you run a circle around an enemy (I said WOW when I saw it the first time). The levels are really big with a great draw distance and the textures are pretty sharp looking.Sound and music (includes voice acting) sound very clear.Personally I thought the game has plenty of variety for a platformer.Loading times are short.Cutscenes look/sound great. It even comes with the original Pac-man plus some little minigames in levels. The controls are tight and responsive and the framerate holds up most of the time. The only complaint I found was that the frame does go down just a little sometimes (not a big deal at all) and there is sometimes a little "ghosting" that comes off Pac-man himself. These two slight problems should not be a deciding factor to purchase this game.Get this game!I was not disappointed.

Game Boy Advance Console in Glacier Review

Game Boy Advance Console in Glacier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The GBA is the newest wave in handheld video games, and a sound investment for those who love the old SNES games and the ability to take them anywhere with you. It also comes in verious colors, but I prefer the Glacier.
As most others already mentioned, the display is not backlit. But either my eyes are exceptional, or other people's are really bad, but I can see the games crystal clear. It is a trade off, not having a backlit screen means that your batteries go further. Anyone who remembers the Game Gear from Sega surely can remember how it gobbled batteries up like mad. Given a choice, I would rather go with the non-backlit screen. The old Gameboy and Gameboy color did fine without backlit screens, so the GBA doesn't suffer by not having one.
The best thing about the GBA is the gameplay. Despite the small size, you get amazing depth to your games. With Super Mario World (a handheld version of the SNES classic), every apect of the original is preserved, and the controls are like second nature. The graphics are 32-bit, but on the small screen, they have the look and feel of 16-bit. This is not a bad thing, mind you, but you can't expect Playstation quality on a screen less than 5 inches tall and wide. The graphics are impressive enough, but the sound quality blew me away. The music is amazingly audible, and comes through with excellent clarity.
With an ever expanding library of games, the GBA is likely to live up to it's older brother, the Gameboy, and dominate the handheld video game market. Despite the other complaints about the non-backlit screen, I think you will be suprised at the quality of this little system. If you can afford it, buy the battery pak. You'll save money in the long run.

Product Description:
The Game Boy platform (which includes the original unit, the Game Boy Pocket, and the Game Boy Color) came to market when most video game consoles had a life expectancy of just a few years. More than a decade later, the system is still going strong. How did the Game Boy successfully compete--and in some cases bury--an onslaught of faster, more powerful handheld and home console systems? Let us count the ways: affordability, a huge library of games that consistently made the most of the hardware's limitations, smart power management that extended battery life, and uncluttered controls. But perhaps it was the system's ultraportable design that allowed devotees to play video games around their schedule, making it the must-have system for kids and adults alike.
Now the Game Boy Advance (or GBA as people are already calling it) comes to us with power that would have been unthinkable back in the day. The portable's 32-bit RISC CPU runs circles around the former's 8-bit workhorse, allowing it to process program instructions much faster. What that means to everyday gamers is more intricate visuals, more simultaneous movement on the screen, and better sound. In fact, the often-annoying beeps and boops of old-school Game Boy titles are being replaced with digitized stereo sound. The extra processing muscle also means you can even network up to four Game Boy Advance units together, via the communication cable, for multiplayer fun off of one shared cartridge. Only two Game Boy Color units could link together, and each unit had to have its own copy of the game.
What's not being replaced, however, is the wide selection of Game Boy games. Because the Game Boy Advance system is backward-compatible, it will play its own line of colorful games--including such launch titles as Super Mario Advance, F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, Army Men Advance, High Heat Major League Baseball 2002, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, and Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2--as well as all of the monochrome and color games that have already been released for the previous Game Boy systems (nearly 500 in total). Players can view the older games in their smaller, originally square dimensions, or, with the touch of the shoulder button, expand the game to fit the GBA's larger screen. We tried enlarging the screen on a Game Boy Color edition of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 and found that Mr. Hawk was much easier to see.
When you first pick up the system, you'll be amazed at how lightweight it is. At fewer than 5 ounces and a little larger than a deck of playing cards, the system easily fits into a shirt pocket without any sag. The GBA's wider shape fits better into a wider range of hands. The former design too often pushed the left and right thumb knuckles together during gameplay. The new layout should be comfortable for all ages, and the center screen orientation makes it easy to see.
Game Boy Color owners will find the GBA's larger screen somewhat darker than they're used to, but that's because the screen is outfitted with antiglare technology. Like the old Game Boy Color, the color LCD is not backlit, so you need pretty good light to play by. Unlike that system, though, you won't be craning your neck and tilting the unit to see around the hot-spot reflection of the light bulb in your screen.
But you'll also notice the graphics. Sporting what's basically a redesigned SNES technology, you'll see things on the GBA that the big consoles do, such as scaling (making objects larger or smaller) and rotation effects--technological advances that will affect the look of everything from crossing a finish line to throwing a touchdown pass to crawling through a dungeon.
Some might argue that Nintendo could have tried to put even more power into this Game Boy Advance. After all, the 32-bit video game had its heyday more than five years ago. Perhaps, but after handling this new handheld, we're inclined to think that Nintendo wisely struck a balance between size, price, and power consumption. And considering how well the old 8-bit system weathered the decade's technological storms, we think the Game Boy Advance is here to stay, and we're glad. --Porter B. Hall

Aliens Versus Predator 2 Review

Aliens Versus Predator 2
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This game is a vast improvement over the flawed original. For one, the graphics are much better, though not as good as some of the newer games out there.Still, they aren't bad and the atmosphere in the game is wonderful.Where the original felt more like a run-of-the mill shooter wherein the player mowed down hordes of Aliens (or humans, if you played as the Alien or Predator), this one still has you facing hordes of enemies but does a much better job of emulating the movies' creepy feel.As an example, the first level in the marine campaign has absolutely no enemies in it but it is, IMO, one of the best levels in the single player game.Though there are no foes, scripted events abound as you, cut off from your team, try to make your way back to them.As you go along you'll bump into a few survivors and, before you can do anything, see them slain by the Predator (with suitably tantalizing glimpses of the cloaked predator). You'll find evidence of the Aliens' and Predators' handiwork all around, 'something' will rattle through a duct nearby, things will break or otherwise go haywire in such a way as to make you jump. The atmosphere is pulled off quite well in the Predator and Alien campaigns as well, though they are not as creepy as the Marine campaign.
Beyond that, the encounters for each race seem fitting and all of the races are fairly well balanced. The Alien can't take a great deal of punishment but its fast and lethal if it gets in close quarters (and it can climb virtually any surface), the Marine isn't terribly durable either, but with his motion tracker and a devastating arsenal he can be a match for either of the other two races, the Predator is fairly tough and has some good weapons but not anything as purely destructive as some of the Marine weapons. The Alien campaign also has one particularly cool feature in that you start it as a facehugger, your goal then is to avoid the humans until you can find a suitably isolated host.Once thats done, you become the chestburster, the 'child' stage of the Alien, again you have to sneak around until you grow larger.Once that has happened you become a full grown Alien and the flesh-rending fun begins :-).
If I have any complaints its that the 'minimum requirements' for this game are a joke.As with most graphically intensive games, your RAM and the quality of your 3d card are more important. If you have a decent 3D card and 256 or more megs of RAM you should be okay, however, if you have only the 128 megs the box calls for, the game will stutter a lot even in the lower detail ranges. (...) That and you'll want to do a full install for maximum performance. The nearly one and a half gigs that the full install eats up can be painful if you have a small hard drive :-(.Though its a fun game at any detail level, being able to max the graphics out certainly helps :-).
To sum it up, this game is definitely worth the money and a good follow up to the original, though you'll want to have a fairly beefy computer to run it well.
