(More customer reviews)I've played too many games to even remember most of em' and I decided to buy Tales of Destiny due to an urge to have a new RPG. I wasn't sure of what to expect, I thought it'd probably be some lame no name chance out ofnowhere like Tecmo's Secret of the Stars. But then I played it, now thisgame hit me pretty hard considdering what my idea of it was. I couldn'tstop playing, I played this unique battle system and the storyline until Icouldn't stay awake. I played this game for two and a half days streight. Ididn't even do this for Final Fantasy 7 or Suikoden, this is a game thatyou wanna play more and more of. very powerful plot indeed but the graphicswere certainly weak, I mean they were pretty bad(not as bad a Lunar SilverStar Story Complete's but still pretty weak.) However the music was thebest part about the game I think that it beat out any other game's music.Most games have their strongpoints and that's it. Xenogears has the bestplot I've ever seen. Suikoden has the best battle system I ever seen. FinalFantasy 8 has the best graphics I've ever seen.But Tales of Destiny havethem all balanced out(cept the graphics). I'd reccomend this game toanybody accept the people who only play a game for it's graphics. ~Seth~

Tales of Destiny 2 Review

(More customer reviews)I didn't think it was all that great at first because of the poor english voice actings, but once you really get into the game, it's no problem at all! The small faults wouldn't affect th game-play too deeply, and after all, fortunately, the voice acting gets better as you advance in the game. The voices do match the characters well, although.

Anyways, like I said, don't let the voices get to you, after all, it's an honest to goodness, excellent game!!! It's one of the most memorial ones I've played, even though I've been through many rpgs. Once you've completed the game, it'll have you thinking, "Why does it have to end!" Lol.

The main plot is quite alright, although it wasn't one of the strong points of this game. The character developement and the events that take place within the whole main plot makes up for it big time though. Although to repeat again, the main plot isn't that bad anyways.

The little morals and dialogues in the game are so touching. One of the strong points of this game.I found myself trying to stop tears when Meredy questions Reid what good memories really are. This game also brings a good point to discrimination.

The characters are simply brilliant. You get to really understand them and they're great. The character developement is great. In fact, this was what motivated me to write this review even though I'm not that sort of person, really. You'd think a 15 year old would have better things to do. But I thought I really should to put in my compliments for this game. And yeah, the characters are simply lovable.

The battle system is excellent. This game really sticks out from the rest of the rpgs how getting into battles can be also fun too, not like the others how you'd wish you could run away from all the annoying, boring battles. The voices in the battles aren't that bad, in fact, with the full awesome animation of swordsman techniques and spell casting for each character, simply excellent. The awesome battle music gets you going too.

The graphics of this game was pretty satisfactory I guess. Even though it's 2-d, it's still beautiful. I don't get what people were complaining about. After all, animes are 2-d. the backrounds have a nice, crisp look to it in my opinion.

The music wasn't that bad either. Even though the tunes weren't THAT catchy, it still has depth and feeling in it. It also has mood in it. I should know, I love music. Like Reid's hometown music, it has a homey, gentle feel to it. Oh yeah, and the battle music. Awesome. But not to be biased, I've played other rpgs too, and yeah, theirs isn't bad either. Still, the battle music for this game is GOOD.

Oh yeah, and not to forget about the mini games. They are fun. The game developers sure know what fun is. I've found myself playing Meredy's dancing thing over and over, trying to continously beat my own record. Lol.

The anime intro in this game was so cool!! It looks great. You should see it.

Anyways, I think I'm done. Ps. A very memorial game. I recommend it. Even for rpg haters. The battles system is so much better!

The graphics are great and looks almost EXACTLY like Soul Edge (the arcade version of this game).Although I beatthis game rather quickly, the game has loads of replayability with the EdgeMaster mode (search for the ultimate weapon for your character and use itin other modes), Player Vs. Player modes, Survival Mode (goal is to not gethurt and to see how many fights you can win), and Team Play Mode (play as ateam against the CPU, when you are beaten your team mate takes over).
Anadded plus for younger people is that no blood or gore is in this game.Soif you are a concerned parent, that prohibits such things from youryoungster, this game offers a fighting genre without blood, guts and goreor death (says "Knockout" when you are beaten or win).
Bottemline, this game is a classic and warrents a place on any gamer's shelf thatenjoys a good fighting game.

This second series - 'G.U.' - continues this pattern, this time centered on a new set of characters led by Haseo.Haseo, seeking vengeance for the loss of his girlfriend as become an avid killer of player killers whose nickname is 'The Terror of Death.'One of the things that make the three 'G.U.' an improvement over the original games is the strong element of character depth and development.Haseo starts out unlikable and, as the conflict with the viral AIDA develops, becomes more the responsible leader and hero and less the bitter killer.By the end of the game there are some twenty characters that Haseo can team with, oppose AIDA with, or even propose to.

Along with the quality of character the storyline has become more detailed and logical.And the character enemies have become more interesting as well.This last stanza carefully ties many of the threads together.The game uses the interactions in the game, in addition to resources in the computer interface such as emails and discussion groups, to drive the plot forward.In fact, one of the most noticeable flaws in the game is that faithfully reading your emails will drive the story forward faster than you want to go.Of course, this is one of the few games that will let you play all the sidequests after the main story completes but I found this a bit unsatisfactory.But there is a lot of gameplay here in any case.

The game offers a considerable number of sidequests and internal games to keep anyone happy.There's a fight card game where you can go on quests for special cards and challenge other players.There's motorcycle races and arena fights.All of this in addition to the find every one thing or another quests.There is a enough game time here to play until you are senseless.Since this is the last in a long series most of you know what to expect and I promise you that that is exactly what you will get.If you are new to the series I suggest you track down at least the previous two games if you want to understand the plot and the characters.

Culdcept Saga Review

(More customer reviews)After having played the PS2 version, I was extremely excited when I found out that they were going to make one for the 360. It's basically the same game with some added features, and that's EXACTLY what I would have wanted.

Some people may find it slow-paced. Think of this as a board/card game, not a video game.
Some people may find the voiceovers/plot horrible. This is not a game you play for the story, but for the pure gameplay alone.
Some people may find the graphics subpar. This is not a game you play for the shininess.

If you can get past that stuff, you have a serious gem on your hands with Culdcept Saga.

This game was delayed numerous times until Namco felt that it met or exceeded the expectations of today's gamers. The result: one of thisyear's best platform games and a fitting tribute to probably THE mostrecognized character in video game history. Included is the originalPac-Man classic, a 3-D maze mode (ala Pac-Mania), and a new Quest(adventure) mode. The Quest mode has Pac-Man taking a romp in a colorfuland well-designed 3-D world. This is polished platform gaming at itsfinest. Pac-Man has numerous capabilities to help him solve some veryclever little puzzles throughout the 20+ levels. Control is tight andresponsive. The music and sound effects are also well done. Had Pac-ManWorld contained only the Quest mode, it would have been a worthy purchase.But add in the classic and 3-D maze modes as well and you have a ton ofreplay value in your hands. Highly recommended, especially to those of youwho have young children. Also, Pac-Man World is sure to appeal togirlfriends or wives who otherwise wouldn't be caught dead playing a videogame.

.hack, Part 4: Quarantine Review

(More customer reviews)For dedicated dot hackers, the easiest way to describe the fourth and last chapter of this game is 'more or the same.'Once more Kite adventures into the many fields and dungeons of 'The World' seeking loot, experience, and trying to safe the world (the real world) from a virus gone out of control.This time, though,all the loose threads are drawn together, answers are provided, and the glow of a new day restores the shine to the gaming world.
If you are new to the game, you are likely to find Quarantine a bit difficult to play and confusing to understand.While it can be done, I think a very large part of the series' charm is the slow, game-by-game, building of character and story.With the earlier games now available at discounted prices the best strategy is to start at the beginning and work forward.Do not, however, try to play the games one right after another.Spread out, their similarity doesn't interfere with enjoyment.Taken all at once, it is quite possible to overdose on grunties.
If you have been following the series than expect no great surprises.Well, there are one or two, but for the most part everything is a natural progression from the previous games.While the plot undertakes some interesting twists, gameplay is pretty much a matter of bigger and badder.If you have been religiously leveling up in prior episodes then Quarantine will feel a bit too easy.If you have been getting through by the skin of your teeth then there will be some tough fights ahead.
I felt that Quarantine was a little too short, and not as spectacular as I expected.There is provision for playing after the game is complete, including an item challenge, and some familiar characters will suddenly become available.Unfortunately quarantine features a smaller set of monsters.Most often data bug variations of ones you have already seen.There is a little voice in my head that keeps telling me that Bandai would have been better off packaging this game in three episodes rather than four.
Of course, that means they would have had to find another way to deliver the Liminality OVAs.This last episode is excellent, providing a lot of information on the nature of the.hack world as well as an exciting conclusion.We see both the outside and the inside of The World in one tidy package.In retrospect, the game is the weakest link in the entire marketing package (I'm not completely sure about the manga either), simply because Bandai chose to leave it unchanged for four episodes.However, many of the concepts behind the .hack package are quite novel, even if a bit overplayed.This, it is an entertaining (if somewhat expense) way to spend a lot of hours with your Playstation 2.

Point Blank 3 Review

For all of you wondering, this game does work with the PS2 because thats what im using it on. And forgot about buying this game without the Guncon because then you would think that game is the most stupidest game ever. The Guncon is the most accurate gun out there for the Playstations because it actually connects to your tv and takes a "snapshot" of the screen. This lets it have accuracy down to one pixel. Well on to the game. The game is very fun. It is a shooting gallery type of game were there are 80 games. There is NO LOAD TIME. I did not see any. It is a great game so if you have the money and the need for a great multiplayer game, then this is for you. WARNING: Do not buy this game if you do not plan on getting the GunCon or if you are only going to play it by yourself.

Xenosaga Review

(More customer reviews)Xenosaga ( the spiritual prequel to Xenogears, which was released by Squaresoft on the PSX ) is an RPG of epic preportions. Like Xenogears before it, Xenosaga comes ready to provide its gaming audience with an incredible storyline, great character development, and stellar graphics. The game is said to be a 50 hour endeavor, and is certain to keep you interested as you trek through its huge tale ( complete with the longest cutscenes ever to grace a game - many exceeding 45 minutes in length ). This game is definately the second coming of the RPG; not since FFX has the gaming community seen a game with such high production values. The game also includes english voices ( which up to this point seem quite good ).
As for the controvery concerning this games content, I will be glad to clarify. One scene ( that takes place fairly late in the game ) that involves the games villian and a main character has been altered to remove a suggested sexual relationship. Regardless of this one alteration ( which is being handeled by the game makers themselves ) the game retains its surprisingly over-the-top violence, language, and controversial religious themes. How namco was able to convince the ESRB to give this game a Teen rating is beyond me.

Magna Carta 2 Review

This game is simple.So I'm going to give you a simple review.This is a JRPG in the finest sense.If you've played most if not all of the RPGs on the 360, you've played this game before.It borrows VERY heavily from almost every single original (meaning, non-sequel) one, and I'm going to focus on that, but first a little back story.Your character is Juto, a young man who has washed up on an island with amnesia (Infinite Undiscovery anyone?).Melissa finds him, and takes him in as family, showing him the basics of combat and survival during the ongoing war that is taking place (Blue Dragon anyone?).

The battle engine uses a controlled action engine, identical to the one found in Infinite Undiscovery.If you didn't like that battle engine, you won't like this one, period.The graphics are strikingly similar to Infinite Undiscovery as well, also making use of the Unreal Engine.The war backstory feels like a toned down version of The Last Remnant, not quite as large scale.And, as in Infinite Undiscovery, you'll encounter a runaway princess accompanied by her guardian.(Trust me, I'm not done yet...)

There also happens to be "Kan", which is a form of energy that gives humans extraordinary powers.This is not unlike the energy in Infinite Undiscovery that gave people powers of the moon, since the hero, Strauss, also comes from another planet.But what really made me giggle is the presence of "Doomseeds" in the game...some sort of light shower which seem to be related to Kan in some way and affect Kan users negatively when exposed to it.(Infinite Undiscovery players, does any of this sound familiar?)

Basically...this game really does rip off a lot from Infinite Undiscovery.That's not a bad thing, but if you couldn't stand that game, PLEASE skip this.=-= What Magna Carta 2 Does RIGHT =-=

- Graphics are quite beautiful.
- Lots of cutscenes, some manually controlled, some static with text, others fully CGI.
- Battle engine is easy to get into (see WRONG below though...)
- 100% camera control in multiple directions, including up and down.
- If you install to the hard drive the load times are almost nonexistent.
- Fairly deep story.It's easy to see that story is what drives this game, along with graphics.
- Music is light, not overpowering, just enough to get you into the environment.=-= What Magna Carta 2 Does WRONG =-=

- Inefficient use of button commands.I mean, if I need to switch skills, why do I have to press RT, then Dpad, Then RT, then X?Why can't I just have RT cycle through the options and then X when I'm done?That's just one example; don't even get me started on the Drive Chain.

- Drive and Chain and all of the variations are absolutely mind numbingly confusing.It's not explained well in the first place, and given the button inefficiency I mentioned above...

- Quest explanations are stupid.One quest asks you to basically use Fire Tap (Crocell's Special) to generate Fire Kan.Never is it explained exactly how to trigger his Fire Tap, unless I missed it somewhere.

- Forced requirement to go back and "check in" with requesters.I understand this is real and all, but the problem is that the game is structured such that if you proceed a certain length, you will get to a point where you cannot return, thus if there is a quest that exists at the very end of one of these parts, there's usually a single event (which you can't back out of) that is your point of no return.Since you didn't know in advance, even if you did the quest correctly, you can't go back to check in and thus you lose those Experience points.

- A LOT of backtracking due to the aforementioned "check in" requirement.The land is huge, so this gets annoying.

- I find the voice acting to be subpar.Maybe it's just me.So...do I recommend it?If you liked Infinite Undiscovery, yes.If you never played that game, you might want to play that first to see if you like that direction.It's scary how identical it really is to that game.You might consider renting Magna Carta 2 if you really feel like taking a plunge.I will say though for the record, for everyone who is reading.THIS IS A JRPG.THIS IS NOT OBLIVION, IT's NOT FALLOUT 3.Please don't come in here blasting it for "sticking to the old formula".Yes, it does.And there's nothing wrong with that, for people who enjoy that formula.It's not going to change the face of RPG gaming.Doubtful it'll end up on PS3.But it's a solid addition to the RPG library for 360 and well worth at least a playthrough, as long as you can accept it for being the very basic of RPG.

One Piece Grand Adventure Review

(More customer reviews)One Piece: Grand Adventure is the sequel to last year's Grand Battle, and is basically a huge upgrade that tosses in more of everything. You still play as Monkey D. Luffy and his friends and foes, fighting each other insmash bros/powerstone fashion. Master wacky and devastating secret moves, grab power-ups, and watch out for the environment.

The 'adventure' this time comes in the form of a quest mode, where you can build your own pirate crew and level them up as you travel from island to island. This is also where you unlock the bulk of the new content, including 8 new characters, 3 new arenas, as well as alternate costumes and other trophy room goodies. Plus get a sneak peak at the next story arc, complete with 4Kids' awful voice acting.

Graphics are largely the same, though they've been tweaked and refined and old environments have new variations. Voice-acting is somewhat more tolerable this time around. Those who imported Grand Battle Rush will find less new content than those who stuck with the american Grand Battle, but there's still some exclusive goodies to explore.

Hands down, this is the biggest One Piece game. Highly recommended to anyone with interest in the series, or fighting games in general.

Tekken 5 Review

(More customer reviews)Tekken 5 is the latest in the Tekken fighting game series. The graphics, gameplay and customizable outfits make it a game well worth buying!

We really enjoy fighting games and have played most that have been released. It can be easy to start comparing them to each other and to look for the best of all possible worlds in each game. Tekken 5 really does a great job compared to most of what is on the market today!

First, of course, the fighting. There are 20 characters to start with - plus a number of unlockable. The game does a GREAT job of offering you male and female, young and old, a variety of races. And unlike some other modern games, the females are actually clothed and earn your respect. You fully get the sense that each character has a background, a style, an attitude.

Every character has his or her own moves and combinations. You can master one character, and move on to learning the next character's talents. The more you learn about each character's style, the better you get in any of the combat situations. There are plenty of moves to keep you entertained for weeks, and each executes flawlessly on the screen.

Which brings us to the graphics. I really have to say that this is one of the best looking games I have seen on the PS2. Normally I give the XBox the edge on graphic quality - but there are some arenas that are just stunning. The dark chapel with orange stained glass stands out in my mind. Yes, the backgrounds are in action, the clouds move, birds fly by. You find that in just about any game in modern times. But the quality of the scenes are sometimes just amazing. Sure, there are some arenas that are a bit boring and look repetitive - there's one with dirt, dirt piles and dirt tornados which isn't graet. In general, though, someone spent a lot of time on the worlds you play in.

The graphics for the characters is also quite well done. The braids move with your action, the scraves blow, the attack moves are smooth and flowing. When you slam into the ground or a wall, it creates impacts. Sure, being a PS2, there are some limits. The ground-pieces that fly up are sometimes rather jagged looking. Still, it's about as good as I've seen.

The game has a wide range of difficulty settings, and you can choose characters that are easier or more difficult for you to play with.There's a challenge even in the easiest modes though - don't expect to button-mash your way to victory. It really pays to spend a fair amount of time in training mode, to learn the specific talents of each character.

I do have to say that when you are fighting a tough boss, it gets REALLY annoying to have the boss laugh at you - to have to sit through 5 long seconds of a replay of your failure - to then see and hear "YOU LOSE!" and then another few seconds of start-up before you try again. It's fine the first time or two, but there should be a way to skip it after that. We know we lost, already. There isn't a need for the game to grind your face in the dust for 15 seconds.

That being said, even the main boss is beatable once you learn the counter-moves to his attacks. It's a matter of study, and learning your character's unique talents. There is definitely a way to win with every character. Again, button mashing won't do the trick. It takes strategy.

Also, even though you have a 'circular world' to fight in where you can side-step left or right, it's a very close quarters game. You can't back up to set up a strategy, you can only mince a step or two back. There aren't other levels to jump down to or take advantage of. It's sort of like a sumo match, with a narrow circle to mince around in.

The sound is fast-paced fighting music. There are different styles, to go with the different arenas, but all of it is generic and repetitive. I really like some of the other games that have "real" Chinese and Japanese music, say, for temple battles. But I realize of course that some people ignore the music completely, so it all depends on what interests you. I happen to appreciate having a great music track with my game.

There are a nice variety of game options to keep you playing for months. There are of course the story modes where each character goes through stages and meets their friends and foes. There are one and two player random matches. There are all sorts of unlockables, customizations, and even a bunch of mini-games.

Highly recommended in general!

(More customer reviews)ONE OF THE BEST FIGHTING GAMES. Namco has really improved Tekken 4 from Tekken Tag in almost every way from the graphics to the movement of the characters. I know Tekken 4 is not out yet to most people, but I have been playing a copy for over 4 months. The only problem with my game is that it is from Asia so it is in Japanese with English subtitles, but those of you who order it from the states the game will be in English. I really recommend this game to anyone especially gamers who love the Tekken series. The graphics have been improved a lot. In a couple of stages, for example the beach levels, the water looks wonderful even when walking through it. The amount of characters in this game is short compared to all of the previous games, but they do give you most of the main and best ones. There are a couple new characters and some they changed a little and gave them a new name. Side stepping is really easy this time and smooth. The backgrounds are awesome as well as the characters movements. The training and practice modes are there to help with learning all the special combos and moves. Training of course tells you how to do the move and then you have to do it and practice u just does whatever you want to any character. The Tekken Force mode was a little bit harder then before and the levels where more interesting. Walls have been added which can be good for you or bad depending how you fight. Some of the stages are really small where you can get trapped in a wall while some one is doing a huge combo on you. But if you are the one doing the combo it's really great. Also the begging movie is good. BASICALLY GET THIS GAME even if you are not that much into fighting games because it a blast...

(More customer reviews)For those who've played the classic PS version, you know that this a great game that was one of the few that had an unusual, yet interesting, "2.5D" gameplay. For anyone who doesn't know, it's a kind of game where you can only walk left or right but you can interact with objects in the fore/background. Klonoa for the Wii is essentially Klonoa: Door to Phantomile (released in 1997 in Japan, 1998 in U.S.), Though the voice of Klonoa, the lead character, has changed from one that sounded a bit childish to one that sounds a bit more mature, other aspects of him have remained faithful to the original. Ok, now enough with the background info.

Klonoa for the Wii is an adventure/puzzle game where you literally use your enemies to progress deeper into each level by grabbing them and throwing them in different directions. Boss battles usually require you to observe what the boss does at first and look for a pattern of movement or "opening" where the boss pauses after an attack. Though this is considered a game for children by many nowadays, it garnered a huge fanbase of all ages back when it first released worldwide. The game doesn't get old as you play and the sheer variety of enemies and situations in which you can use those enemies keep things fresh. The last few levels get pretty hectic, but I won't give any spoilers (that's YouTube's job now, right?). Graphics for the game have been completely revamped from that of the slightly pixilated PS1 version to a very crisp and clean-cut version that draws a new attention to detail, enhancing the storyline and overall experience.

To finish up, Klonoa for the Wii is a great game that should belong to every Wii owner. It has a great and original fairytale storyline and gameplay never gets stale. It deserves its 5/5.

(More customer reviews)To begin with, theres a huge amount of unlockable content in this game. You will be unlocking new costumes, characters, weapons and things every single day you play... for weeks!
This is an awesome addition to fighting games, which i feel lose their replayability too quick.

The new content adds a lot to an already jam packed game.
Theres 30 characters to take through story mode and theres a giant strategy/fighting side game called chronicles of the sword. This side game took me 12 hours to get through. Thats a pretty decent chunk for a side game.

Theres also a decent amount of fun little games in the mode called Soul Arena though some of the games are a bit too difficult.

The thing that seems a little screwy in this game and is its biggest flaw is its AI. This game has no difficulty adjuster so the game is always locked in the same difficulty. The AI is extremely smart, or cheap, and can string together fast moves and reactions that a human opponent cant. Its extremely lame to lose 75% of your life bar to one string of cheap attacks by the computer.

But strangely, even though the computer AI is very good and cheap, there are some basic moves which the computer just cannot block. Want to beat the game without losing a single battle? Pick Sophitia and just keep pressing triangle.
Its very lame that the computer will block and dodge the most advanced tactics but cannot block the most basic move. Its funny to see the hidden final boss, Night Terror, get beat with the most basic attack in the game.

While this game is boatloads of fun and an awesome fighter, it still isnt without a few flaws because of its strange and unbalanced AI. And thats what makes it 4 stars, and not a perfect 5 in my books.

With over 20 characters, multiple costumes, over 200 weapons and awsome graphics and sound, no wonder this game got the "best fighting game award!"Play it now! PS2 controller is the bomb, even better than the Gamecube and X-box ones! All of the characters have multiple attacks as well as individual skills.
The graphics are jaw dropping. I love them, they are flawless and don't sketch or stop in any place. The movements are easy to see, and you won't be overwhelmed by fast movement. The music is incredible, as well as character voices.
There are lots of unlockable things like weapons, modes, characters, and photo galleries. There is an endless list of things you can do here, as well as weapon master mode where you can go through hundreds of missions to fight. There are tons of missions like specific kill missions, last ??turns, kill multiple enemies, etc. Tons of possibilities!
I would highly recomend this game, I think its better than the others on Gamecude and X-box!
