Justice League: Chronicles Review

Justice League: Chronicles
Average Reviews:

We got this game for my 5 yr old son for Christmas as he loves the television show!!He absolutely love the game and never tires of playing it!! It was definately worth the money and my sons friends all love playing it too.As a matter of fact I finally sat down to play the game and found my 5 yr old instructing me on how to do the special feature moves with the extra buttons.I also have teenage brothers and sisters and they were absolutely in love with the game too.I would say the game would normally be for a bit older than 5 yrs old though because my son is already very computer literate and can read completly, this is why he is able to handle it so easily. There are words on the screen they need to read or have read to them in order to do the games.

NINTENDO Wii SWORD KNIFE SHIELD Pack NINTENDO Wii Zelda WARRIORS Review

NINTENDO Wii SWORD KNIFE SHIELD Pack NINTENDO Wii Zelda WARRIORS
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I picked up this pack, and its a fun novelty but nothing more. It does add some realism to playing Zelda:TP especially when you stand up and do the motions. The quality is decent, especially good detail on the shield. The swords have hard plastic handles and foam blades, so this is safe for children. The Wiimote and nunchuck fit nicely in the holes and it doesn't add much weight.

The sword/shield set is fun for a minute, but novelty wears off quickly. The only problem is that you can't play through all the parts in Zelda with the plastic sword. The handle blocks the Wiimote sensor, so its impossible to use things like the grappling hook or bow and arrow with this peripheral. This is a major issue, but only effects a few parts later in the game. Although it should be noted because it is not obvious from the pictures.

All in all, if you are a die-hard Zelda fan (or you have a kid that is), this is a fun little novelty, but don't expect too much. I found the sword worked pretty good with Prince of Persia, however thats not the best game to begin with so I wouldn't buy it just for that. Its a great conversation piece, all your friends will want to try. So if you like Zelda and collect useless junk, you will probably enjoy yourself.

Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time (Collector's Edition) - Nintendo 64 Review

Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time - Nintendo 64
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998)
(1998)con., Nintendo 64, pub. Nintendo, dev. Nintendo EAD)

There are few things I could say about The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time that have not already been mentioned by critics, fans, journalists and Nintendo enthusiasts in some form or another at some point in time. The reason being is that Ocarina of Time IS (whether you love it or hate) one of the most praised, well-respected and highly regarded video games in the history of the industry. The game also remains my favorite video game of all-time.It is my intention to discuss certain aspects of the game that I find enjoyable, as well as a few of the facets of the game that I did not take pleasure in.This narrative is more of a personal reflection of the game than a critical review. Please keep that in mind while reading.Let's get stared!

The production/creation of this title was no easy task for our old friends over at Nintendo. Not only is there pressure enough in creating a title from the Legend of Zelda series, as a great portion of the gaming public hold the franchise in very high esteem and expect much for each new title, but the series had to also evolve and incur a drastic change from the familiar and successful 2-D realm to the (at the time) very new and unpredictable world of 3-D.Fortunately, Nintendo had some prior success in this transition process as their most famous and beloved mascot, Mario, had made the "jump" from the traditional and beloved 2-D platforming to the realm that is 3-D.Super Mario 64 launched with the Nintendo 64 console in the U.S. on September 25, 1996.The result? Most video games fans and critics, alike, refer to it as one of the greatest video games of all-time.

It worked for Mario, would it work for Zelda?

Mr. Miyamoto and his development team put a tremendous amount of time and effort into the completion of this game.It took some three years and a staff of over 200 folks to complete this daunting task.It had been 6 years since a Legend of Zelda console game was released (The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past SNES-1992) and the Zelda fans were starving for a new title. After all the screen-shots, after all the articles and features, after all the hype and after many delays, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was finally released in the U.S. to the masses on November 23, 1998.

Was it worth the wait? You better believe it.

Critically and publicly acclaimed, Ocarina of Time literally changed the face of the gaming world and completely altered the rules, the mechanics and the overall style and structure of video games as we know it. The 3-D realm seemed a perfect fit for the style of gameplay fans of the Legend of Zelda franchise have come to know and love.It remained as faithful to its 2-D predecessors as it possibly could and enhanced, refined and completely polished the Zelda series and, in essence, brought the franchise into the future of gaming. It remains a truly magnificent accomplishment and an absolute most welcomed edition to this extraordinary series.

It is my strong belief and conviction that the quality of gameplay has always remained the most redeeming quality of any video game.In this day and age of progressively scanned imagery and (soon to be) high-definition quality graphics, along with orchestrated music, full-blown original/compiled soundtracks (comparable to those of major Hollywood motion pictures) all presented in glorious, THX certified (some do) digital surround sound (a lot do), I have always been of the opinion that the quality gameplay mechanics, which are the foundation for the success of the industry, of games would, in a way, "take a back seat" to the aforementioned aspects that seem to be dominating ALL forms of our entertainment.

Don't get me wrong.I'm as much of a tech nut as the next guy.I just don't want the gameplay quality to suffer as a result of "dolling" up the game. The game must be enjoyable. The game must be fun. I don't care how it looks, how it sounds or what the content is - if playing the game is not entertaining, if the controls are stiff, unresponsive and hinder the experience, if the overall gameplay mechanics are not up to par, I don't care how many copies of the game sold, it will be a flop to me.I firmly believe that Nintendo understands this concept. They believe the fact that solid, innovative gameplay is the key to a truly rewarding and fun gaming experience and they trust enough in their fans and the general gaming public to recognize this.Needless to say, Ocarina of Time is one of the best examples of perfection in terms of quality gameplay mechanics on any console to-date.

Playing Ocarina of Time is a joy from start to finish. It's the perfect blend of solid 3-D action/adventure/RPG elements with a superb fighting system, spectacular environments, nearly endless amounts of exploration, quirky and fun NPCs, challenging dungeons & puzzle solving, awesome boss battles, an incredibly well structured story and wonderful in-game sound effects and catchy, hummable songs that are enjoyed by me and others to this very day. *Hugs OoT Soundtrack*

It is a grand and epic game that completely immerses you in a way that no other that I have ever played. This sense of immersion occurs, whether you are exploring the brilliantly designed and unique dungeons, riding your loyal steed, Epona, across the immense Hyrule Field or gazing upon the magnificent and majestic Hyrule Castle. You feel right in the middle of the action and excitement. You become part of the journey; you become part of the quest. You, in essence, become part of the legend.

Gameplay

The controls and the overall gameplay are as close to perfect as I have ever experienced. Two essential innovations that require specific mention are the camera system and the lock-on targeting system. What can I say? They are revolutionary. Most in-game cameras can often become a nuisance. They obstruct, rather than help. The in-game camera in Ocarina of Time never misses a beat.It never hinders the player's progress or perspective and serves as a tremendous aid during your adventure.Bottom line: I have never played a console game with a better camera system than Ocarina of Time.

In conjunction with the camera, the lock-on targeting system proves essential to your enjoyment of the game and will prove very useful while controlling Link in battle against the assortment of different enemies you will encounter during your quest. You simply tap a button on the control deck (Z-button) and this action allows you to "lock-on" to any particular enemy (or NPC) you are looking to engage (or talk to). The camera will stay on your target, retaining its over the shoulder position and allows you to circle your enemies and slash at them while side-stepping, back-flipping and shielding yourself from the attacks. It makes for a much more enjoyable and satisfying experience. The lock-on targeting does NOT make the game easier or minimize the difficulty. It simply serves as an important "weapon" for the player that allows them to strategically outline an attack plan and tactically take on multiple enemies in an efficient manner.

Both are most welcomed and most appreciated additions to the series.I must warn you though - after experiencing the Ocarina of Time camera and lock-on targeting, you will truly be spoiled for the rest of your gaming career.

In addition to the camera system and lock-on targeting, Ocarina of Time also managed to redefine the controls of the 3-D adventure with their introduction of the context sensitive (B) button. There a many actions Link will need to utilize during his quest. You will need to: pull, push, crawl, read, dive, climb, jump, talk and myriads of other actions. The context sensitive (B) button allows you to perform all of these tasks effortlessly. When you happen upon a specific task that requires a certain action, the system will automatically recognize the action needed by flashing the word of the action on screen for you.For example, if you walk up to a sign, the action button, (B), will flash "read" on-screen. You need only to hit the (B) button, and you will be able to read the sign.Simple, yet very effective and very intuitive. All games should work like this. It's brilliant.

Lastly, I would like to give some mention to the overall feel of the game.I like to call it the, "go anywhere, do anything" feeling. If you see something during your travels, chances are, you can go to it and interact with that part of the environment in some manner. This gives the player a tremendous feeling of freedom and adds a new dynamic to the overall gaming experience.Great detail was put into the creation of the magical land of Hyrule, and it shows.

Now I get to nitpick

As much as I love Ocarina of Time, there are a couple things I may have done a little differently. These are incredibly minor, minor problems that I have had with the title.First off, I was a little disappointed that the original Legend of Zelda Overworld theme was not included in the game.It was substituted for the Hyrule Field theme. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the Hyrule Field theme, but, I feel that putting the original Overworld theme in the background while traversing through Hyrule Field would have been perfect.Lastly (yup, only two) I wish there was an option to turn Navi off.At times, I found her incredibly annoying and her constant "whisens" always seem to come at the most unwanted times. But I digress, as Navi served an important role in the adventure.Because of her, we are able to "lock-on" to our targets.Navi flies over to the target and floats over their heads, allowing Link to...Read more›

Rock N' Roll Racing Review

Rock N' Roll Racing

A port of an old Super Nintendo classic, Rock 'N Roll Racing is a fun, addictive racing game. However, don't think that this game is simply about racing. The vehicles are equipped with blasters, mines, oil-squirting machines, and rockets, among other things.Initially you being the game with a cheap, slow vehicle with few weapons. As you progress through the game, you earn money in order to buy weapons for your vehicle, or to buy a whole new vehicle. This is a great feature of the game, as it makes no two careers the same; everytime you play the game you can choose your path to victory. You can have a heavily equip a cheaper vehicle, or you can buy a better vehicle, but you will be unable to equip it with many weapons or armor.
The game uses a top down, isometric view of the race course. It feels like you are driving remote controlled vehicles, rather than some racing games that put you in the driver's seat. This is a unique view for a racing game, and it only helps the charm of Rock 'N Roll racing.
As one would assume, the multiplayer feature is fantastic.Nothing gives quite as much joy as blasting your friend right as he is about to cross the finish line.
Rock 'N Roll Racing is a game any avid Gameboy Advance player should own.It will provide you with countless hours of mindless fun.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask - Collector's Edition Review

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask - Collector's Edition
Average Reviews:

Although most people disagree with me, I think this installment in the Zelda series is better than Ocarina of Time.Majora's Mask, in a sense, is its complete opposite.

While Ocarina of Time is very traditional in its format and style, Majora's Mask strays far from the ordinary.Ocarina of Time masters the epicness that Zelda can be.Majora's Mask masters the dark and mysterious side of the Zelda series.

Being a fan of the unusual, I am addicted to the idea of restarting the same three days repeatedly.Trying to get as much done before restarting is awesome. Then getting to transform into a Deku, Zora, and Goron puts this game over the top.You also get to fight the bosses (although there are only four big bosses) as many times as you like.Every time you restart the three days, you get to fight them again by warping straight to their lair.Fighting Goht is one of those experiences that's worth reliving again and again!

Lots of masks to find, swimming as a Zora and rolling as a Goron, a much more difficult final boss than Ganon in Ocarina of Time, and a much darker tone help make this game the gem that it is.I will always be in awe of this game, and I hope everyone else finds it as enjoyable as I do.

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons Review

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Fear not, Zelda loyalists, this new GBC adventure, even though developed by Capcom, lives up to the Zelda name in every way possible.Even surpassing Link's Awakening in the gameplay department, this game is a treat for Zelda purists and newcomers alike. There is great variety in Link's adventure this time around - you'll find yourself doing everything from riding mine carts to hopping, swimming, and flying around with your newfound animal buds. These animals are a great additon to the game: You'll meet all three on your quest, but you get one to "keep" as your pet. The main item here is the mystical rod of seasons.Adding great depth to the game, you'll gain the power to change the weather and landscape at will with the help of a nearby tree stump. The other items, found in dungeons and other places, are definetly the most amazing and innovative items seen yet in a Zelda game, including it's parter pak, Oracle of Ages.I won't list any of them here, but later in the game you yourself will be astounded. If the new 3D incarnations of the series are too easy for you, be prepared to meet your match. The action in this game is great, sometimes overwhelming, as the many enemies and huge, tough, bosses will certainly leave you gasping for a breather.Don't delay, even if those flashy Game Boy Advance games have caught your eye.You won't be seeing anything this good on a handheld system in a long time. And, even though its marketing scheme, don't pass up on Ages either. The two games Link together once you've completed one of them, adding more items, dungeons, and bosses into the mix.Get one, and if you're thirsting for an especially big adventure, get both. You won't regret it, and besides, its ZELDA.Do I really need to tell you this?

I've been a Zelda fan for the past 13 or 14 years. This game (along with it's counterpart Oracle of Seasons) makes for a very good old school feel of gameplay.I fell in love with it and I've yet to beat it (due to lack of knowledge of ...), but I have a very enjoyable time playing the game. Most of the dungons remind me of the good 'ole days where Keese flew around freely, Likelike's took your shield, Octorock's throwing rocks, Moblin's shooting you with arrows, dragons spiting fireballs, Dodongo's eating bombs, multiheaded drangons flying around trying to kill you.And the music grabs you once again. The land of Hyrule is under attack.Old school gameplay, incredible music, familiar characters and enemies...it dosn't get any better than this.Buy it, I know I will!

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Review

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is such a perfect game. When I heard that a new zelda sequel was coming out, I was afraid that it would have a hard time living up to the greatness of the other zelda games, but I wasdefinitely proven wrong.
First of all, the world which you explore isgorgeous.Ever felt like exploring a fairy-tale forest of elf-children? What about a cavern that lies behind a magical waterfall, or maybe a sunnymedieval marketplace, or how about an adobe desert fortess, or even asimple peaceful mountain village? It's all in Zelda 64.
The gameplayitself is awesome.Link is easy to control, and the 3-D motion of the gameis great. The challenge level is perfect too.I played the game without astrategy guide, and I'll admit the infamous Water Temple took me seven daysto beat, but the puzzles are respectably challenging and you feel greatwhen you solve them. The bosses are also nicely challenging; it's rare tobeat them on the first try. Also, you have a wide variety of weapons anditems to find along the way, and there are plenty of extra-hard side questsfor the hardcore zelda players, like the never-ending quest to kill thoseelusive skulltullas, or the always-present goal of finding all the heartcontainers.
The music is great too.New themes such as the bouncy newLost Woods theme, the sultry Gerudo Valley (gotta love those castanets andSpanish guitar), or the relaxing massage-for-the-ears Zora's Domain jointhe soundtrack in addition to old favorites from SNES' "A Link to thePast", like Zelda's Lullaby, the Fairy's Fountain theme, the Ganontheme, and Kakariko Village.
My only two small and pointless complaintswith the game are that you can't go in the majestic Hyrule Castle, and therecognizable classic Zelda themesong was left out. However, the newoverworld theme is cheerful and catchy too, and after a few minutes into itthe careful listener can hear the first few notes of the old zelda themewoven into the new one, a subtle homage to the game's historicalpredecessors.
Basically, the game is a masterpiece. My friend has thesountrack and we always listen to the songs to cheer up, especially the"Shop" theme :) And when we think about the final scene in theending of the game, we always cry!Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time setsthe standard for a quality video game. You're sure to love it!

The Legend of Zelda - The Minish Cap Review

The Legend of Zelda - The Minish Cap
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I can't believe the scores/reviews this game is receiving in Amazon. Bad graphics? Hard gameplay? not.... fun??? This does not make sense at all and I have to say.. some people just don't know how to play Legend of Zelda.

I got a copy of this game the day it was released and have been playing since then. It took me roughly 15-20 hours beating the whole game, including fusing all the kinstones, collecting all the hearts, and collecting all the figurines. First of all, Minish cap is a short and easy game compared to the other Zelda series. It normally takes me at least 30-40 gameovers to beat previous Zelda games (oracle of times/ages, link to the past) but this game took me only 3 gameovers to complete it. (Where 2 of them shouldn't have happened) The dungeons are fairly simple and short, whereas the field puzzles are quite complicated and time consuming. Monster battles didn't get easier but the one thing that lowered the game's difficulty is the amount of damage Link takes per hit. Usually in the previous games, one light hit costs Link half a heart but in Minish cap, weak hits will cost Link 1/4 a heart!

The boss battles are the weakest part of the game. They are VERY simple, having limited techinques are moves, where the player can easily catch it's moves and defeat it. While I was playing this game, I sort of missed the old Zelda days where I had to challenge to boss again and again until I finally beat it and the happiness and pride you gain from that doesn't exist in the Minish cap.

Next one is graphics. People keep saying this game has BAD graphics compared to XBOX or ps2 games.. which doesn't make any sense at all.. You can't compare XBOX and GBA people.. Maybe comparing this game to another recent release, like Kingdom Hearts, may be a better choice.
Anyways, the Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap's in game graphics have the most vibrant, colorful, and closely detailed visual features compared to ANY GBA game. When comparing his well detailed and precisely dotted graphics to other GBA games, nothing stands a chance at Minish cap. The graphics made me just smile throughout the whole game. Wonderful graphics just make me happy.

At last I want to talk about the special features in this game.. which are VERY addictive. The most well-knowned system is the Kinstone fusing system, where you find pieces of different shaped or colored kinstones and find the right person in the world to fuse it with. If you are successful to find a person(or an animal/object) who have the matching kinstone pieces, you can fuse them together and unlock treasures, new rooms, secret monsters or doors throughout the whole map. There are a total of 100 kinstones you can fuse and each one unlocks a secret. This fusing thing is really fun, because not everybody want to fuse their stones all the time. Some fuses when they WANT to, some fuse only one stone where some can fuse two, and People are scattered all over the whole map big AND small, so you would never stop moving busily around the map. Fusing IS good, because it can give so certain upgrades to your weapons such as the Magic boomerang, remote bombs or even bigger wallets.

The next cool feature is the figurine collection. You can trade off your mysterious shells for figurines. This figurines are just plain AWESOME. They are much like the 'trophies' in Super Smash Bros. Melee, giving you decriptions of characters you got while presenting a magnificent representation of that certain character. (the graphics just SHINES here. SHINES) You can get a total of 130 figurines.. and this collecting business is VERY addictive since these figurines are so darn tempting.

This is all I got to say.. Minish cap is just another GREAT Zelda game with obviously awesome graphics and improved gameplay. I would absolutely definitely recommend this game to Zelda fans, but those who don't like the puzzle solving, secret unlocking, figurine collecting, real-time monster bashing type of games should reconsider before buying.

This game is soooo cool. You have three days and nights, to find Majora's Mask and save Termina from being destroyed by the falling moon. In this game, all of the minor characters in Orcarina are better explored and newcharacter's are also introduced. As well as Majora's mask, you have to find24 other masks.Another cool thing about this game is that Young Link canuse some of the weapons that were previosly only available to Adult Link. But the neatest thing of all about Majora's mask is the ability to turn into different things depending on which mask you are wearing. The Deku maskallows you turn turn in to a Deku , the Zora mask in to a Zora and theGoron in to a Goron etc..One of the questions you might have about thisgame is whether Link can grow up as in Orcarina. Well, I don't want tospoil it for you but I'll tell you this....The final battle is worthplaying the game for.

You can then play her mission and you will find their canine companionLupus on her third world. As you go from world to world you must destroyMizar's insect-like drones and save the innocent teddy bear-like Tribals. The colors are great and there's even a secret way to give the drones morecolorful blood by collecting the heads of your enemies after you kill them. The camera angles are good and the multi-player battle mode is awesome. Each of the characters has their own special ability that means they can goplaces the others can't.This makes it so you must bring each characterinto the worlds of the others to find all the tribals and secrets.Thereare even special missions for the flying drone Floyd and two little carracing games.Rare did them selves proud. This game is a Triumph!

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker Review

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker...It was in development for 3 long years and it basically maxes out Gamecube's hardware capabilities (cel-shading is an extremely difficult effect for processors/graphic engines to handle).
AWARDS + REVIEWS
Zelda: The Wind Waker came out in Japan in December and is considered one of the greatest games of all time there. Famitsu magazine in Japan (the most reliable gaming magazine in the world..and every game is reviewed by 4 different critics) gave Zelda: The Wind Waker a perfect 40/40. Only three other games have ever gotten a score that high (Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Vagrant Story, and Soul Calibur). Famitsu says "Any pangs of anxiety you may have with the cartoon-shading look will instantly vanish once you play the game." Two of the reviewers actually said the game was so good that they cried in delight. In fact, Zelda has recieved only one non-perfect review in Japan and that was by Dengeki magazine (it got a 9.5/10) ..and Dengeki scores games so harshly that Zelda: The Wind Waker became the first game in over 3 months to get above an 8/10. In the US, PlanetGamecube imported the Japanese version and gave it a 10/10. Zelda: The Wind Waker also won Best Console Game of E3 (Gamespot and the Official Awards).
THE "NEW" ZELDA
The main difference between this Zelda and past Zelda's is that Miyamoto is no longer designing/directing it, and thus, the new director is giving it a much more epic feel. Everyone who has played the Japanese version has said that it definatly has the deepest story out of any of the Zelda's ever made - in fact, it is the first Zelda to have a true emphasis on plotline. Not only this, but this is also the first Zelda to have multiple continents and islands that you can sail to with a ship. The world is so huge that on a quick ship it can take as much as 15 minutes to sail from one location to the other (in Final Fantasy for comparison sailing from one end of the world to the other only takes about 2 minutes).
LENGTH
PlanetGamecube themselves gave the game a 10/10 and said the only problem the game had was that the world was TOO huge. This game will take you 40 hours to complete (if you are very fast and direct) but is filled with well over 100 hours of sidequests and other things to do. In fact, this game is probably packed with more sidequests than any game ever made.
CEL SHADING
Anyone who shys away from this game because of the graphics are definatly missing out. Those graphics are actually more difficult for a console to render and more difficult for developers to make than the great polygonal graphics we are all used to. Not only this, but I, having witnessed the game myself at a Nintendo Cube Club, have noticed that up close this game is beautiful. Do not be fooled by screenshots, they do not do the game justice. The animation in this game is amazing and at the Cube Club (a club containing over 20 gamecube games), Zelda definatly stood out as the one with the most impressive and flawless art design and graphics.
GAMEPLAY
The gameplay itself is very similar to Zelda: Ocarina of Time although with many enhancements and improvisations. Plenty of fighting, exploring, and puzzle solving. This time, however, the gimmick is wind rather than time (in Ocarina of times case). Wind is constantly blowing at a specific velocity and direction at any moment in the game. It effects everything - from how your boat sails and in what direction to which way Link's cap swings in the air. Many puzzles will also use the wind and there are items to manipulate it.
MUSIC
And then there is the music..the music of the new Zelda definatly makes one of the greatest gaming soundtracks in history. Classical Zelda tunes remade in orchestral glory and plenty of new songs as well. The music is completly orchestrated and if you have a surround sound setup..drools.
IMMERSIVE WORLD - ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Perhaps the number 1 thing that people who have played the new Zelda comment on is that it is perhaps the most immersive game ever made. Link has about 20 facial expressions which all convey what he is feeling at any given time. All characters in towns have artificial intelligence (they dont just stand there or run around in circles like in most Zelda/RPG's)..rather..they have minds of their owns. If you (Link) walk around town with a sword..some little kids will follow you. If you go into a house and break pots the owner will get angry and chase after you. If you do something silly in front of people, they will laugh at you. And if you draw attention, people will look at you. Even the enemies have AI that makes the world immersive. Take out a bomb in front of a Moblin and they will run away - it makes you feel like the world is real. Seagulls follow your boat as it travels betweens islands. Zelda: The Wind Waker is the definative reason to own a Gamecube.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening Review

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening

My boyfriend got my a game boy color for the holidays last year.I'm a big vidiot so this gift wasn't that nuts -- but I still wondered "why the heck do I need a game boy color? I already have enough video gamesystems!" Well, Zelda answered that question and gave me a reason tofall in love with my GBC.
Zelda's simply faboo. I loved all the olderZelda games because they're so challenging and it's hard to get sick ofthem. The new Ocarina of Time (for N64) is *FANTASTIC* with graphics thatrival Play Station games -- and I'm almost done beating it, but lately I'vebeen focusing my time on the small screen (GB color, that is).
Link'sAwakening doesn't quite compare to Ocarina, but for a small screen editionthe graphics are quite impressive. The dungeons and other areas are vastand colorful; lots of "bad guys" to battle and even secret"warp tunnels" and other hidden gems to find. There's so much todo that I know I'll have to invest much more time in order to finish thegame.
There's a bunch of other fun stuff to do while playing too.Youcan play games, take photos, harass chickens, catch fish, dig around theprairie, and trade items (like bows, dog food, and bannanas!)
What Idon't like is the item selection; this is mostly due to the lack of extrabuttons on the GB.Basically you can only use two weapons at once.Solet's say you have your sword and your feather set to your A & Bbuttons. This allows you to kill bad guys and jump over holes. But let'ssay you must kill a bad guy then quickly jump over something, and then youneed to have your magic ready -- which is not equipped! To equip your magicyou have to hit "start," select your magic (and replace one ofyour other items in order to have room for the magic), then quickly executeyour move.If you have to make another move directly after that, thenyou're kinda S.O.L. It's tough to switch back and forth betweenequipment/weapons. I've found that it is also quite hard to jump overthings when you don't have your feather equipped (that's supposed to becomedy - get it?).
Overall, though, this game will undoubtedly provide mewith hours of entertainment and it has certainly given me a reason to playmy Game Boy Color. If you get stuck on any of the levels, you can alwaysvisit ninetendo's website and look for their strategy help (that's how Iknew where to find the Slime Key! -- yes, I'm a cheater, but why else doesNinetendo make those guides printable?).
I hope this information has beenhelpful to you.Happy Gaming!

Product Description:
This colorized version of the original Game Boy hit, released in 1998, is a side quest that deviates as much from the traditional Zelda storyline as the N64's Majora's Mask. The story is completely new and original, but the game system is largely the same as in the Super NES hit, A Link to the Past. You explore a vast island named Koholint, opening up access to more new and new areas as you collect special items and solve puzzles. On your way, you gather Rupees and heart containers, use your sword to defeat enemies, and push plenty of blocks around. The DX (=Deluxe) version features one new dungeon and GB Printer support

this game is ok, but isn't as good as the first one. some levels are just way to easy, but others are confusing. the music is ok, but the boss battles are great.

gameplay: 4/10 once you beat it, you won't want to play it again

music: 4/10 can get a little annoying

graphics: 8/10

boss battles: 9/10 fun but frustirating

overall: 6

get this game if you are a huge tmnt fan, but if you are not and you're intrested in getting it, rent it first. i highly reccomend the first one.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (w/ Master Quest) Review

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
To begin, I'd like to admit that I grew up on Zelda since the age of seven during the Christmas of '92 when I bought 'A Link to the Past' not too long after. I immediately became HOOKED!! When I was about nine, I gave the follow-up, 'Link's Awakening' a try (Yes, I've played BOTH the GB and GBC versions already now) and enjoyed it just as much. Finally, when 'Ocarina of Time' hit stores in '98, I was quite curious but a bit unsure if it would take away that good ol' classic feeling that I'd loved as a kid (I am a retro fan after all when it comes to gaming) so I decided to rent it for my N64. I wasn't in any way disappointed. Almost everything about the game resembled to that of the NES, SNES, & GBC originals, aside from the new and impressive 3D look.

The dungeons were fun and challenging, the puzzles were well thought out, and the bosses were simply SPECTACULAR! In addition, the controls were easy to master and you could practically do more than before. (With the 64-bit graphics, how could you go wrong?) But most of all, the musical score was one of the most beautifully composed works I'd ever heard and nearly brought a tear to my eye a couple times. I'd play the game for hours on end and never get tired of it. It's possibly THE greatest Zelda of all time and creator, Shigeru Miyamoto had truly outdone himself with this one. In 2003 when 'The Windwaker' was hitting U.S. shores for Gamecube, those who pre-ordered it would receive this awesome Bonus Disk. Fortunately, I was one of the many who could get it for free, and I must say that it's splendid to see the rebirth of a classic.

Despite some minor problems (e.g. the music may skip a little here and there) this is actually an excellent transfer straight from the N64 to the GC. In fact, it's almost better than what it used to be. For example, the picture quality is sharper and clearer than it once was and the graphics' animation is slightly improved over the N64 version. As a bonus, the game, 'Master Quest' is also included, which is the same story as 'Ocarina', only the dungeons are different and the overall gameplay is far more difficult than the original. (You may need to refer to a strategy guide for help on this one) Nevertheless, it's a special treat for those who are looking for an extra challenge.

I HIGHLY recommend this game(s) to any and all Zelda fans that haven't gotten the chance to try it yet. For those of you who've already played through and beaten it, you can relive the adventure all over again in 'Master Quest'. Be sure to pick this one up wherever you can find it because it IS a very rare and hard-to-find lost gem. Better yet, just buy a copy here off amazon.com. You'll be happy you did! :)
