Championship Bass Review

If my 65 year-old Dad who never plays Playstation can catch lunker sized bass, you can too. I LOVE this game. The underwater view allows you to really learn how to make lures look real, and use rod action to attract and catch bass (small and largemouth), bluegill, and catfish. You can set out on 4 different lakes (3 + one hidden) in career, tournament, and fishing trip modes, or see just how good you are in any of the 13+ challenge levels. If you've NEVER tried a fishing game before, this is a great title to get you started.

I've been playing video bowling games ever since Bowling came out for the Atari 2600. Never have I seen a game that has more realistic pin action than Brunswick Circuit Pro Bowlingby THQ for the Playstation. I'm a bowling fanatic so I'm a hard judge on bowling games. The pin action will leave you in awe. I've played hundreds, perhaps thousands, of games, and still see new pin action at times depending on the bowler, ball, and lane that I use. I never tire of playing this game. I only hope that THQ brings an updated version of this to the Playstation 2!

NCAA Football 2006 Review

NCAA Football 2006
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
There's no disputing that EA owns the lion's share of the sports videogame market, especially with their recent acquisition of exclusive licenses for both pro and college football. Many (understandably) feared that this lack of competition would lead to lackluster games, i.e. each year's release being reduced to not much more than a full-price roster update. The team that developed NCAA 06 apparent set out to soothe gamers' fears and ended up rewarding us all with a top-notch college football game full of both subtle improvements and big-time innovations.

GAME MODES
When you put in the game you're immediately rewarded with a number of gameplay modes, some familiar (dynasty, single game) and some new (Race for the Heisman). The Race for the Heisman mode allows you to create a player and then guide him through tryouts for a scholarship, choosing a school, and then playing a career aimed at racking up the massive stats required to take home the hardware.Along the way, the main menu is your dorm room where you can review your accomplishments in the school newspaper, head off to the practice field (small mini-game drills), and check how your season stats compare versus the compeition. It's a little bit self-involved since you're emphasizing your individual campaign over that of the team, and make no mistake, you will have to put up unreal numbers to beat even the candidates with lesser stats. At the end, the presentation of the Heisman award ceremony is a little bit uninspired given that it's your main aim in this mode.Once you've finished your college days with or without the Heisman, you can port your created player over to Madden 06 to continue your career in the pros.

The real gem here is the dynasty mode where you control a school's program year-round.During the season, you get a great mix of responsibilities:you're the Athletic Director looking to avoid NCAA sanctions by disciplining problem players, you're the coach sorting out the depth chart while also courting high school recruits, and of course you're the players strapping on the pads each Saturday.In-season recruiting is one of the best additions to this year's game - it works basically like a poker game where you bet your finite time on how much attention each recruit needs and what kind of pitch will attract him to your school. If you leave it to one of your assistants to call him about the school's prestige, don't be surprise to watch him commit to your rival whose entire coaching staff showed up at his front door promising an immediate starting role. You also schedule recruit visits to your school, which can go a long way toward securing the signing if you beat up on your on-field opponent that week. There aren't any unsavory aspects of the NCAA represented here, i.e. you can't buy a recruit a car and so that he'll immediately sign.In fact, it's quite the opposite - if your team is under any NCAA scrutiny for rule violations or disciplinary problems, you'll find it much harder to attract blue chippers, so don't slack on your AD responsibilities when your superstar decides to stop going to classes. As the season winds down, you'll get your committments and start playing for the bowl rankings and player trophies.Weekly updates are presented as stories in Sports Illustrated magazine, which is a nice visual approach compared to traditionally dry menus.

OK, so your dynasty school just ran over the competition in their bowl game.Mission accomplished, right? As Lee Corso would say (and does say quite a bit in the game) "Uh-uh.I don't think so, Sweetheart."You've got to look at who's graduating, who's going pro, who you might be able to talk into staying (furthering the integration with Madden, you can even export that entire NCAA class to become the draft class for Madden's franchise mode). After that period is over, you hit the recruiting trail. The off-season recruiting works much like the in-season session but with even more detail. For instance, over the course of the several years, you can set up specific states as pipelines where the many of the top candidates will already be interested in your school on day one.Still, it's up to you as coach to figure out the right buttons to press to get the commit.Recruiting continues week by week for five weeks;however, if you're not into this much detail, you can opt to automatically have the computer do its best for you.Afterward, you check on your players' off-season skills progression, set the depth charts, redshirt players and then you're ready to suit up for the next upcoming season. You can also change up the team's non-conference games in order to bolster your strength of schedule or generate a new rivalry.

If you build up your school's program over the course of several seasons, you may receive an invitation to join a better conference and play in front of better crowds, all of which will attract better recruits.Of course, your head coach may also opt to take a higher-profile job elsewhere, so success is a dual-edged sword.

The game also solves one of my biggest pet peaves with prior NCAA games - you can finally just substitute made-up names for the players instead of going with QB#7 handing off to HB#23.I understand why legally you can't use these players' real names, but I never understood why you couldn't just go with any name instead of position and number.Of course we all know who that stellar Texas signalcaller or USC ultra-back is, so made-up names work just fine.If it really bothers you, you can take the time to edit them.

The main menu also features options to quickly set up one-time games, including all of the major rivalries, and even a goofy game played between mascots.

GAMEPLAY
In-game control is another highlight of NCAA 06 - you can perform a lot of cool moves with relatively simple and sensible button/stick combinations.Chief among these is the use of the right analog stick to perform juke moves on offense and big hits on defense.Earlier EA games turned the right stick into a Superman button where your player would defy the laws of physics as a reward for you merely touching the stick.Thankfully, this has been reeled back to more realistic limits while still keeping the excitement factor. You even have the option to zoom in and slow-mo particularly well-executed moves. You can't help but get hyped up when you look to be caught in the backfield by the other guy's blitzing backer only to spin, stiff arm him to the turf and then hurdle over him on your way to six.The control configurations are just about identical to those of Madden, making it easy to switch between the two (Madden obviously doesn't have the option offense).

Before the snap, the right analog stick allows viewing of matchups. This new feature zooms out to field width and shows player skill level and composure for particular matchups, e.g. wideouts vs. defensive backfield, o-line vs. d-line, or QB/RB vs. linebackers. It's a nice feature that allows you to see if you've got any potential mismatches to exploit from play to play, giving you an idea of which receiver to key on or maybe even enough insight to audible a different play.

But is NCAA 06 more than just Madden dusting off its old varsity jacket? To quote the coach once again, "Ab-so-lutely".The makers of the game paid painstaking attention to detail here, making NCAA 06 truly a payoff for fans of the college game. The stadiums are intricately rendered - I play my dynasty as a mid-major (Miami, OH) and even their field is accurate right down to the dorms in the distance being accurately drawn and properly placed. As best I can tell, all of the MAC fields are like this, so enjoyment of that home field experience isn't limited to just fans of the biggest programs at the biggest conferences. This year's game even includes division 1-AA and NAIA schools.Want more evidence of what a massive tribute to the college game this is?Here goes:Mascots?Check.Rivalry games?Check. All year-end trophies?Check.Fight songs?Well, NCAA 06 earns an incomplete for this one.Not all of the fight songs are there - some just get generic march music and drumlines - but I'm guessing that was more due to legal rights than effort by the developers.Fans of ESPN's College Gameday program will be happy to know that Lee Corso does his signature donning of the mascot's head during his pre-game pick.

GRAPHICS
Player models are about the best that this generation of console can deliver.Clarity and sharpness can suffer a bit when looking at a pile of players in the wide field view, but up-close, they look great. The real strength is in the massive stockpile of fluid, natural animations and the way that the game combines them.String together some impressive combinations of moves and you'll find yourself watching the replay over and over again (it's a shame that you can't save them).

The in-studio pre-game show is the biggest low-point, exposing EA's longtime problem with weird lighting of facial models.Everyone at the desk seems to be underlit, making them look sinister.Plus, their movements are surprisingly robotic. But in terms of importance, these problems are miniscule - the developers placed their efforts on the on-the-field action where it belongs.

SOUND
In-game commentary is provided by the familiar voices of Brad Nessler, Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit. The game contains tons of commentary clips, but you will hear a lot of the same lines over and over again once you've played a few seasons. The game generally does a good job of mixing commentary up and also playing the right clips at the appropriate times.Nevertheless, if you're not a big fan of Corso and Herbstreit's Abbott-and-Costello routine,...Read more›

Rocky Review

Rocky
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Having played the Playstation 2 and Xbox and versions of the game at ECTS 2002 trade show I can tell you that Rocky is quite simply the best movie licences ever produced and one of the best games you will have played for many a long year.
Fans of the movie are going to love it because the game has a visual flair and an immense depth that recreates the sweet science of boxing perfectly and even if you have no knowledge of the Rocky films you will not believe the enjoyment this game can induce.
The boxing itself is easily the best 3D interpretation of the sport to date and makes all other contenders, such as Knockout Kings 2002, Ready 2 Rumble and Mike Tyson's Boxing, look punch-drunk has-beens surviving on past glories.
The graphics are excellent, great lighting effects, fully 3D crowds, and the atmosphere and fantastic soundtrack all use the Playstation 2 and Xbox power to full effect.
The single player mode is superb, but get together with some friends for a session in Exhibition mode and you can expect whoops and hollers to rival the best multiplayer games.
In fact this game has the only multiplayer game to rival Halo.
This brilliant arcade boxing game is based on all five films, and a worthy accompaniment to them. The beauty is that gamers unfamiliar with the series will admire Rocky for its power and simplicity, while film buffs who know little about games will appreciate how true the spirit of the celluloid version it is.
It has captured the essence of Stallone's scripts, acting and OTT fight sequence with remarkable flair.
Fan of the movie? Get Rocky! Fan of boxing games? Get Rocky? Fan of the Playstation2/Xbox? GET ROCKY

NFL Street 2 Review

NFL Street 2
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When EA Sports' BIG division released NFL Street as the football version of its hit NBA Street many gamers were impressed with how the game took street football to a new level of fun with style moves, sick dives and trash-talking that at times had you laughing too hard for your own good. The only problem with NFL Street was that at times you were pretty much eating the wall with your face whenever your opponent tackled you and you had no way to dodge it.

Well, that little problem has been thankfully resolved (to a point) in the long-awaited NFL Street 2.And as the old adage goes, "The more things change the more they stay the same".NFL Street 2 adds a few new surprises to the mix of 7-on-7 street ball while keeping a few things relatively untouched. As the promos say the game is played in the streets but now will be won in the air.

One of the new things added to Street 2 is the Wall moves. Now you can control your chosen player to run up the wall to either catch a ball, evade tacklers, or even throw some insane passes throughout the game that help you build up your team's game power meter.
Speaking of the meter, the GameBreaker has now been changed to become the GameBreaker 2 (the NFL version of NBA Street, Vol 2's Double GameBreaker). If and when the GB2 is activated it begins a sick looking play series that, depending on whether you are on offense or defense, wil make you harder to hit, be a harder hitter and cause major fumbles, or move fast as you carry the ball across the goalline.

Several new modes are added to NFL Street 2, including Crush the Carrier (basically a game of keepaway in which you score points for carrying the ball), Quick Strike (Score before your opponents do, then prevent them from scoring), 2 Minute Showdown (Score more touchdowns than your opponent within 2:00), Jump Ball (Catch passes being thrown to you and 2 other receivers to score points) and last but not least Own the City.

Own the City is the game's Story Mode in which you create a player then charge through the 5 sections of the city and complete the challenges in each section to build up the ultimate player to challenge in the NFL Challenge mode of the game. And of course for those that may have gotten the ability to do so over the holidays the game does have an Online play mode.

Now although this game had a street date (no pun intended) of Christmas Eve 2004, it came out with plenty of time to be the first of 3 Street games to be released in 2005 (NBA Street, Vol. 3 and FIFA Street being the other two).Needless to say if these game can rule the streets like the first 2 NBA Street games and now the 2 NFL Street games can, then EA Sports BIG can truly say that they run the Streets... this is until they decide to FINALLY make an NHL Street...now THAT would rule...

Defy gravity and stretch your game to the skies with Tiburon's NFL Street 2. Receivers can now run off the walls, change passing lanes by running your QB up a building, and take advantage of eye-popping wall jukes and all-new hurdles. You better hold on to the ball because defenders fly across the field in ways never before seen in a football game. Players now descend on Bay City, an all-new persistent world to build their teams, their reps, and their battle plans one field at a time. Once you own the walls, you will own the city. Join pick-up games around the city and establish your reputation by recruiting talent from the neighborhoods you conquer as you begin your journey to become football's biggest street legend. MLB 08: The Show Review

MLB 08: The Show
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
How does the saying go?The more things change, the more they stay the same...

Well, that's pretty much the mantra of this latest installment of the MLB franchise. With some new tweaks (and some new bugs), MLB 08 has crash landed on the PS2 console with a few changes that may either excite or disenfranchise some gamers.

First of all, the biggest change is the Guess Pitch feature, which no longer gives you the help of an exact location of pitches as last year's version did.For some, this change makes the game more difficult, as they could always hold back and wait for that perfect fastball in the lower half that you could rocket over the wall with relative ease. Now, should you select the new option for the Guess Pitch feature, you are only given an indication that the pitch will be in the area you guess. So, if a low and inside fastball is thrown by John Lackey, and you're clever enough to have selected the area you think the pitch will go, you can no longer rest assured that your guess will lead to an automatic base hit because the pitch could be low and waaaaaaaaay inside. You swing, you miss, or you chop the ball into the dirt. This, of course, adds to the realism of the game more and creates situations that n longer hinge on your habit of always guessing low and down the middle (Which was what I did all the time in MLB 07).

Another improvement is the Rob Home Run feature.I particularly love this because timing the jump was always the most difficult thing to do in any of the baseball games. Now, this doesn't mean that you'll have any more luck at robbing the home run, it just means that you can.Still, the ball may be too high, or your player might not be too fast, but the added excitement of snagging a foul ball in the stands or a home run from over the fence increases the playability factor exponentially.

Other than those things, not much else has changed between versions of this game. There are still bugs-a-plenty...outfielders that continue to run against the wall even though the ball has ricochet back into the field of play.Shortstops that inexplicably snag sure-fire homeruns out of thin air, and the plethora of foul balls the CPU hits even after getting a batter to an 0-2 count on off-speed pitches.

The umpire feature never seems to be of any prominence.I remember the advertising for this series that bragged how an umpire's strike zone varies depending on the ump's personality.Well, that is a crock because the strike zone variable seems wholly random.Sometimes, an ump will call an outside pitch a strike, but later on that same ump will call an inside pitch a ball. The probability is wholly random, as I see it.

Base running is still an incredible blunder. It is impossible to send a runner to steal a base.it is reliant on the computer, and taking the CPU option off results in a confusing button configuration that never seems to be wholly accurate or effective.I long for the days of EA Sports easy stealing and base running system...want your runner to advance to third on a slow roller up the middle?Just press the Left directional button and they're off to the races. In MLB 08, the controls are incomprehensibly convoluted, and having to memorize button procedures takes away from the fun of the game.

As always, the announcer team is morbidly banal...many of the same one-liners and comments were just repackaged into this game. It's gotten to the point now where whenever I hear "The 3rd base coach had to do a skip-to-my-lou", my body instantly seizes and my bowels release.OK< not really, but it's as annoying as listening to Tim McCarver in the playoffs.Either get new announcers or write new scripts for these guys cause recycling these "gems" demeans my intelligence.

Things that are missing:Fan interference!?How about a little love for the guys who lean over and try to snag foul balls? Also, an easier way to manually update rosters during the course of a season would be preferable then having to do it before starting a franchise by adjusting the rosters for those unfortunate enough not to have a PS2 with internet capabilities. And those bugs!Ugh!I'm not talking about the ones that swarm Joba...I'm talking about the others.Like a pop-up skied up the middle beyond second base that the catcher has to run through the infield to get? What's up with that?

Anyway, those points I raised are more nit-picky than anything.MLB 08 is still a quality baseball game, better than 2K's.The gameplay is smoother and the myriad of options regarding gameplay blows the lid off of the shell that is 2K.I would recommend this game for the hardcore baseball fans.Especially if you have an internet connection for your PS2 so you can get updated rosters, because as fun as it is to reflect on the times when Santana was on the Twins, it's extremely annoying to have to face him in the course of a season in the American league.

Little League World Series Baseball '08 Review

My 4 year old son has had this game for about 3 weeks now, and absolutely loves it.The controls are very intuitive and he was hitting home runs in no time (I actually had to turn the difficulty up for him!) Also, in my opinion, Activision did not "dumb down" this game for kids---there's lots of nice little touches for adults (in-jokes, beautiful background scenery, etc.).The pitching and fielding is almost certainly too simplistic for a "seasoned" gamer, but again, for kids between the ages of 4 and, I'd say, 13, this game is perfect.Lots of mini-games on here (which are quite fun) and if it's too easy you can certainly turn the difficulty up.Very satisfied with this one.

FIFA Street 2 Review

FIFA Street 2

First I want to counter everything the last reviewer said!!!!! He came here trying to catch your attention with fancy words and describtive writing in order to keep you from getting this game. Heres one thing, NEWS REPORTERS BELONG ON NEWSCASTS!!!!! This game is one of the very few EA soccer games I enjoy. For me it is usually all about the winning eleven series. NOT SUPER MARIO STRIKERS!!!! Now the game play is at first alittle chalenging. For example the buttons for a long pass or "high pass" as they are called in fifa street 2 and the buttons for shots are switched. This will be the bigest problem for avid soccer fans like myself. otherwise the gameplay is silky smooth. the trick stick ( right analog stick) helps players to easily control how humiliating your trick will be. pointing the stick down with perform a panna or putting the ball between a players legs. Pointing to the left or right passes the player from the right or left side. finnaly pointing up is you guessed it.... Puting the ball over the players head. theyre are a huge repetoir of tricks to perform so theyre is constant action. Also it has good music and many genres and yes i quote from true skool. A huge collection of players including my hero Ronaldinho Gaucho. Unfortunetely his signiture move is called Gaucho instead of hisfamous Elastico. I degress. But the best part about the tricks is the ability to replay the last trick over and over so that u can show off and also check the foot work in order to do the trick yourself.
Even though G4 says that this game lacks numerous modes of play, it has a very long story mode. The game are very fun especially when you unlock team captain mode were you manage your own team international were u choose a country to play for in order to win every locked item. and underground where you play the most skill teams and the hardest conditions.
This game forces you to create a custom player. This can be done in the rule the street mode or in the creation zone. You can also create a custom pitch and yes make it as ghetto as possible because hey that what street soccer is all about, and you can create a dream team of all your fav players.
The down sides of this game are the overall repetition of tricks, somewhat repetative game play in certain modes and a lack of options to customize pitches.
Over all i think this game isnt half bad. Worth 20 bucks even though i am saving for an ac milan jersey and need the money. It truly brings out the wonder of Footsal in a way that even Pele would be proud.

Man, I was so happy they came out with a NHRA game for PS2. It blows the IHRA games away. I enjoyed every aspect of this game! The best thing is how easy it was to figure how to play and have a chance at winning a race. That was the biggest flaw in the first IHRA game they came out with. Even though they have quite a few generic cars at least they have alot real drivers with their real cars> I recommend if your a drag racing fan and have a PS2 in your family, you should buy it, because it will give hours of enjoyment.

Cabela's Outdoor Adventure 2006 Review

Cabela's Outdoor Adventure 2006
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I really enjoyed TrophyHunter and DeerHunter 2005 for PC, so I thought I'd try a playstation game and see what it's all about. I'm not a hunter in real life, but I do enjoy playing hunting games more than other sorts of shooter games. Fewer aliens, more rifles, maybe some bunnies - I guess that's what I like.

Cabela's Outdoor Adventures is a pretty good game. Personally, i don't find many, many different vehicles that interesting. I do enjoy all the firearms, though. And bows. I really like the game options: you can play Adventure mode and create a character, you can compete in a markmanship or trophy contest, or you can take a Challenge and beat a record. You can also play in Free Hunt mode, where the game fits you out with equipment and thrusts you into some locale.

The graphics are good-to-okay. Repetitive motions on some of the animals get a little tiresome - this is where Deerhunter and Trophyhunter have spoiled me - but the basic animal forms look good. Animal AI is good enough - could be better. (Calls work well, but you must be close enough. Tons of Apparently Unrealistic Things occur with the animals, but c'mon - it's a game! It's unrealistic, but do you really want to be playing this game for ten hours, waiting in ambush?!)

Ambient environment - clouds, animal noises, ground cover, wind, rain, etc -is excellent! I love the eerie sound of foxes barking in the woods! Weasels, badgers, mountain goats, bears, wolves, and those out-of-control vicious bobcats make the game richer than just walking through the trees, hunting hoofed creatures.

The fishing option is repetitive, yes - it takes no talent, only timing - but I enjoy it when something else in the game has frustrated me. (Like finding the right Trophy Mule Buck...) You can only fish near a fishing sign, and you can't move once you begin casting = dumb, but you'll get over it.

My fave part of the game is when the warden steps in and assigns you a special task or mission - rescuing a lost helicopter pilot, taking out a rabid coyote, finding the poacher's camp, harvesting ten rabbits - these surprises are great, and I wish there were more of them! Also, I enjoy the shotgun competitions.

A good game, especially if it's on-sale! Occasionally heart-pounding, so make sure you have a good sized screen to fully appreciate the stalking experience.

WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game Review

WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The first wrestling game to grace the Playstation, and it offers arcade-fighting action in and out of the ring. Arcade meaning that you press forward, forward punch to perform a move. There are only eight true to life superstars, Bret Hart, the Undertaker, HBK, Razor Ramon, Doink the Clown, Bam Bam Bigelow, Yokozuna, Lex Luger and one hidden superstar, so you may get bored with frequent matches. There are some incredible animations though, but it does get goofy though, with hit combinations, Lex Lugers arm turning into a mace, Bam Bam Bigelow is capable to light his opponents on fire with a diving head butt and other such odd things. Playstation makes great use of the sound qualities and the game has crystal clear sound and voiceovers from Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler doing commentary. The commentary might get repetitive to most people so the game even has the crowd scream things, boo and chant during the match. There is a Road to Wrestlemania mode for single players, which pits you in singles, two on one and three on one-handicap matches. It can get frustrating and tedious to go through those matches. The two player mode only has a huge battle royal mode in which a tag team together tries to defeat 12 wrestlers which come in one after another. While playing the two player mode can get annoying, because once you beat someone you must wait for the game to load as a new superstar runs out.

I bought this for my 7 year old son.Soon, my husband began to play... then my daughter began to play.It is fast paced and easy to get started playing. The higher you are ranked, the tougher your competition. They all have different styles and first you must figure out your opponent's style before you can beat him and move up.

WWF Smackdown! (Playstation) Review

WWF Smackdown
Average Reviews:

This is not just some wrestling game. This game includes all the taunts and moves that WWF brings in their shows. With over 36 superstars, this game offers what every other wrestling game has failed at.The graphicslet you see the tiniest details in their faces, and the sounds are likebeing in the front row.You can have a special referee that will countslower or faster depending if they like or hate you.The storyline modewill be enough for anyone hardcore fan and others.Superstars will walk upto you behind stage and help or stop your goal at the WWF championship. Once you get it though, you may have your conceded allies turn on you.Thestoryline can go forever and should change enough to keep everyone on therecouch for many hours.

Lay the SmackDown! on your enemies with your own created jabroni or as one of the World Wrestling Federation's top superstars. Make friends and then break them as you roam backstage from the boiler room to the kitchen. Call upon your allies for help and then climb over them as you kick, grapple, and People's Elbow your way to the top. Just remember that backstage politics can work against you--don't let The Rock run-ins, well-placed metal chairs, and McMahon-appointed guest referees get you in the end.

Smash Court Tennis 2: Pro Tournament Review

Smash Court Tennis 2: Pro Tournament
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was wary at first to shell out $40 for Smash Court Tennis 2, but now I am overjoyed that I did. The game is addictive and not hard to master. The 16 players you can play as are Andy Roddick, Juan Carlos Ferrero, Tommy Haas, Richard Gasquet, Tim Henman, James Blake, Marat Safin, Lleyton Hewitt, Justine Henin-Hardenne, Kim Clijsters, Serena Williams, Amelie Mauresmo, Lindsay Davenport, Jennifer Capriati, Daniela Hantuchova, and Anna Kournikova. This selection overall is excellent, but I wish they had excluded Kournikova, Hantuchova, and Gasquet and instead chosen Sharapova, Venus, and maybe Roger Federer. These choices are definitely better than TopSpin's, though, which features too many boring American players like Shaughnessy and Harkleroad. In the pro tour mode, my only complaint is that the computer decides what the score is for you based on your playing of a few points in what are called "turning points" of the match. For instance, you may enter a tournament and be playing a higher ranked player, and before you even start the score might be 1(you)-5 (them) in games for the first set, and it will set the score at 30-40, set point for the computer opponent. Then it will tell you that your goal is to win the game. This happened to me and I did win the game, but after the game was over the computer gave the first set 6-3 to my opponent, before I even played another point!!! Still, the pros definitely outweight the cons for Smash Court Tennis Pro Tournament II. The players are incredibly realistic, as are the courts. Clijsters and Roddick even use their Babolat racquets, while Capriati uses her black Prince and Serena uses her black and white Wilson and even wears her cat suit. Most of the clothes they wear are items the pros actually wear in real life, and all the players use their actual racquets. However, another con (though not as important) is that the grunts are completely unrealistic. All this aside, you should definitely buy this game, as it is probably more fun than TopSpin and cheaper!!!
