NFL Street 2 Review

NFL Street 2
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When EA Sports' BIG division released NFL Street as the football version of its hit NBA Street many gamers were impressed with how the game took street football to a new level of fun with style moves, sick dives and trash-talking that at times had you laughing too hard for your own good. The only problem with NFL Street was that at times you were pretty much eating the wall with your face whenever your opponent tackled you and you had no way to dodge it.

Well, that little problem has been thankfully resolved (to a point) in the long-awaited NFL Street 2.And as the old adage goes, "The more things change the more they stay the same".NFL Street 2 adds a few new surprises to the mix of 7-on-7 street ball while keeping a few things relatively untouched. As the promos say the game is played in the streets but now will be won in the air.

One of the new things added to Street 2 is the Wall moves. Now you can control your chosen player to run up the wall to either catch a ball, evade tacklers, or even throw some insane passes throughout the game that help you build up your team's game power meter.
Speaking of the meter, the GameBreaker has now been changed to become the GameBreaker 2 (the NFL version of NBA Street, Vol 2's Double GameBreaker). If and when the GB2 is activated it begins a sick looking play series that, depending on whether you are on offense or defense, wil make you harder to hit, be a harder hitter and cause major fumbles, or move fast as you carry the ball across the goalline.

Several new modes are added to NFL Street 2, including Crush the Carrier (basically a game of keepaway in which you score points for carrying the ball), Quick Strike (Score before your opponents do, then prevent them from scoring), 2 Minute Showdown (Score more touchdowns than your opponent within 2:00), Jump Ball (Catch passes being thrown to you and 2 other receivers to score points) and last but not least Own the City.

Own the City is the game's Story Mode in which you create a player then charge through the 5 sections of the city and complete the challenges in each section to build up the ultimate player to challenge in the NFL Challenge mode of the game. And of course for those that may have gotten the ability to do so over the holidays the game does have an Online play mode.

Now although this game had a street date (no pun intended) of Christmas Eve 2004, it came out with plenty of time to be the first of 3 Street games to be released in 2005 (NBA Street, Vol. 3 and FIFA Street being the other two).Needless to say if these game can rule the streets like the first 2 NBA Street games and now the 2 NFL Street games can, then EA Sports BIG can truly say that they run the Streets... this is until they decide to FINALLY make an NHL Street...now THAT would rule...

Playstation 2 Dance Pad Revolution 2 Review

Playstation 2 Dance Pad Revolution 2
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm a total DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) Newbie.(For now.)And this is the pad I've chosen to start with.
This is the least expensive pad of reasonable quality I have found yet.
It is a soft pad and can be folded. But you really should remember to fold it in thirds so the stepping areas don't get creased.(I don't know what happens when the stepping buttons get creased, and I don't plan on finding out.)
I have a somewhat cushy carpet, but that combined with the softness of the pad, it does NOT seem to negatively affect the sensitivity of the controller.
There does tend to be a little bit of slippage during play.(They do include some sticky disks that are supposed to help with that, but I want to be able to put the pad away so I'm a little dubious.I can probably fix the problem with some self adhesive Velcro or something.)But the slippage is not enough to seriously hinder gameplay for a fair number of rounds.(At least, not the way I dance, your mileage may vary.)Even without sticky stuff or Velcro, it's not big deal to step off the pad between songs and nudge it back into place with your toe.
The bottom is a smooth neoprene, the top is vinyl, and the padding in between sounds like crunchy plastic type material.
No, this is not the best made pad in the world.
But it's a good pad at a good price.
If you're just starting out and you're not sure that this type of game is for you, or if you're just on a limited budget, you would do well with this dance pad.

Peter Jackson's King Kong Review

Peter Jackson's King Kong

Wow what a beautiful game.I am very impressed by the graphics on this one.But what about the gameplay. It is very unique. Most of the game you are a human running around in first person shooter mode. This is pretty cool.Sometimes you will have to look around in the environment to find things to use.An example would be finding a spearlike object to hurl at a t-rex.THis sounds like it would be tough, but it really isn't.While you cock the spear with one hand, your other hand points to where you will throw the spear.THis brings up a very unique aspect of the game. There is no health meter, no reticle for shooting, no ammo readout.NO nothing. You are IN the game just as a real person would be.This helps with the immersion in the game. But what about the Kong Levels? They are way fun and way short.they are probably only about %25 of the game. They are fun though.A little clumsy on the controls, but fun.All in all this is a good game. Not great, but pretty good. You might wait a month and get it half priced used on ebay.Whatever the case, you will be pretty happy with your purchase.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Review

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This GBA game is a very well done RPG rendering of the omonimous Harry Potter book.
You control the wizardly trio (Harry, Ron, Hermione) in the quest to unveil and defeat the traitor that caused the death of Harry's parents.
The story starts out with a well done and useful tutorial: while on the Hogwarts Express you have to try to capture Ron's pet rat (or whatever kind of rodent it actually is).
The story then unveils in Hogwarts. You can explore with your party the various chambers of the academ, visit locations you are familiar with either from the movie or the book, and make many pleasent encounters with notorious Hogwarts characters.
Combat is turn based and all members of the party have their own special powers. Furthermore, you get 17 spells you can learn and find in the game that will enhance your party's power and there are a lot of in game items with which you can buff up your characters' defenses and main game characteristics.
Overall the game is a very nice RPG, very simple and charming. Graphics is ok, as the overall quality of the game. Expect to play for no more than 20 hours though. Replay value is not that high, as you will be able to retain all the levels you accumulated in the first game (monsters instead don't improve at all).
Bottom line:
This is a very nice Harry Potter game. I love how EA transformed it in a complete and simple RPG. I strongly suggest any Harry Potter fan to buy this.

Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith Review

Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The game has two components, multiplayer duel and the Revenge of the Sith story game. The Revenge of the Sith story game allows you to play as Anakin, Obi-Wan or go cooperative with two players reinacting the movie through an action-arcade style game. It's a movie game where you play out the movie, it is what it is.

The other component is a duel mode which allows you to fight Jedi vs Jedi. This is where this product is frustrating because this duel game is exactly what many of us have been longing for (think: Soul Calibur set in the Star Wars universe), it's frustrating because the duel mode was added as a bonus; it's an underdeveloped concept, so you have to unlock characters as you play along in story mode (or you can use cheat codes) once you've unlocked them all you get a few surprises (Darth Vader in full armor and Obi-Wan from Episode IV), but I was let down not to have Yoda and The Emperior as playable duel characters.

What I hope is that Lucus Arts will have The Collective create a pure dueling Star Wars game based not only on Episode III, but on the entire Universe. There are plenty to add from the expanded universe as well (e.g. Darth Bane), if someone would make this it could be the ultimate Star Wars game.

I SPY Treasure Hunt Review

I SPY Treasure Hunt
Average Reviews:

This is a fun computer game and very similar to the I Spy books. We have I SpyHaunted Mansion CD as well and I think this one is much better. I would strongly suggest you choose this one over the the Haunted Mansion. Instead of one game as on Haunted Mansion, there are three games with this program. It is fun and I have found myself sitting up late playing it. THe graphics are neat and the sounds are clear and easy to hear. Well worth the time and money.
Enjoy.
