(More customer reviews)I've never gotten deeply into the First Person Shooter genre. Why did I buy this game, then? I looked at the Turok website and liked what I saw, so I took a gamble. For my money, that gamble paid off.
Turok: Evolution places you in a fantasy world--make note of that, especially those who whine about hurting poor defenseless dinosaurs. When you see four tons of Anklosaurus equipped with rocket launchers (we're remembering we're in a FANTASY WORLD, aren't we?) bearing down on you, your qualms about firing a few rounds into a dinosaur fade rather rapidly. As for the other dinos--if they don't attack me, I don't attack them. (You don't have to either.)
The game gives you two levels to get a feel for the FPS controls and the flying controls (slightly different, but easy enough to become familiar with), then you're into the thick of the action. As I've mentioned, I don't have much FPS experience, and Chapter 3, part 2, took over ten hours to beat. Sometimes I made stupid mistakes, sometimes the dinosoids (humanoid dinos w/armor and weapons) did me in. Through persistence and by learning from my mistakes, I made it. What's so great about Turok: Evolution--it's a challenging game, and it's fun to boot.
There are things to consider if you're a hardcore gamer--Acclaim did not provide a multiplayer mode that allows one person to fight the computer ("bots"); On some levels, some of your weapons are restricted, which adds to the challenges; If you replay a level you've completed, the AutoSave function is turned off (essentially making it impossible to replay a level to find something you might have missed (and need to use later) unless you restart from the beginning of the game). If you can get over those issues, you may enjoy this game a lot. I did.
Parents take note: There is a setting to turn off the violence (which is copious), but if your child is playing, he controls the controller and could easily turn the violence right back on.
If you're buying this for a child under 17, watch as they play to see if it's right for your child. I won't be letting any of my nephews (12 and younger) watch or play it.
Turok: Evolution is great fun, challenging, and very bloody. It's rated M for Mature.

"Carnivores: Cityscape" combines the classic one person shooter game with the excitement of hunting lethal dinosaurs through futuristic environments. Dino Corp, the famous company who has raked in millions from rich connosiuers, has decided to try a new buisness tactic. After some unfortunate accidents on their revoulutionary dinosaur hunting planet, they have decided to take the show on the road. Dino Corp has filled a ship with dinosaurs and plans to take it around the earth colonies as a traveling roadshow.
The game starts with a bang as the spaceship, Dino VII, crash-lands on the outskirts of Crater City, a remote earth colony. The angry dinosaurs, now free from the ship, run amok. You are a special military agent hired by Dino Corp to destroy the dinosaurs. Or if angry dinosaurs are your thing, play as a dinosaur and bite and claw your way to victory.
As an agent, your missions will consist of rescuing people and killing dinosaurs. To accomplish this task, you will be given an arsenal of weaponry ranging from machine guns to laser rifles.
As a dinosaur you must basically destroy the planet, beginning as the small but agressive Coelophysis, and ending as the 46-foot long Giganatosaurus. When your health gets low, finding medical kits isn't the answer. To regain health, you must eat your kills.
"Carnivores: Cityscape" is not only a fun and addictive game, but it is somewhat educational. The game uses unusual dinosaur species. Instead of the standard T-Rex and Velociraptor, players will play as the mighty Suchomimus or the bird-like Oviraptor. These rare creatures will help people learn more about dinosaurs and their ancestors.
"Cityscape" supports multiplayer so players can connect over the internet, or one of many other connections, and play with or against each other. Players can play as cooperative agents, cooperative dinosaurs, deathmatch games, or every man for himself.
I have very few criticisms of this game. After hours of searching, I still haven't figured out how to start a multiplayer game. Don't try consulting the instruction book either. Also, after you have won the game a few times, it gets old, but if you give it some time, it will regain its appeal. I won the game as both human and dinosaur within three days of when I bought it. The game could be improved by making "Carnivores: Cityscape" harder.
Overall, "Carnivores: Cityscape" is a great game. It has great graphics including, water ripples, great landscapes, and realistic dinosaurs. Certain graphics my be distorted if you get too close to something. It also has great audio, including ripples, gunshots and bone-chilling roars.
"Carnivores" is the ultimate dinosuar game. You can save or destroy the world. Choose your path wisely.

(More customer reviews)We all know that dangerous hunts is as far from realistic hunting as walking around wal mart with a water gun.This game, is actually pretty close and pretty fun, with great graphics.

The storyline in this game is actually decent for a cabelas game.Your a guy from a hunting TV show, and its behind the scenes basically- the making of the show.You travel across North America hunting all sorts of trophy animals.There are bird hunts, varmint hunts, even predator hunts for you to do, but none of the animals canhurt you.Theres a shooting gallery mode also- thats a lot of fun for a classic arcade style game.

This game is very realistic.No more walking around to trigger an event, you actually get to in a stand and call in an animal, or sneak up close through the brush, or walk around to a cliff to get a good angle- all sorts of different methods.Stands vary from a tripod to a "Duck Blind" that is nothing more than some bushes and logs.Every hunt has more than 1 species in it, and 2 parts to every animal.For example, in one hunt you are hunting a pack of wolves where there is a black wolf you want to kill.After you kill the wolf, you go back to the moments directly before and after you kill the wolf and get footage of it.

One notice for people who are very avid gamers- this may not be for you.This game is more for people like me who spend more hours hunting then playing video games.Dont get me wrong- its a fun game, but I reccomend it for people who actually have hunting experience rather than people who have the video game version of hunting experience- both are very different.If you want a game thats more the gamers- why not try remington super slam hunting africa/north america, or deer drive?

(More customer reviews)This is a great hunting game.I got it for Christmas but am still playing it.There are so many animals to hunt, cougar, wild bore, all kinds of deer, moose, bear, bighorn sheep and a lot more.There are also a whole lot of guns and bows.They have got shotguns, rifles with great scopes, crossbow, bows and pistols.The bullet cam is a great feature.If you don't want it on you can just turn it off.THe same with the red dot that shows you where the animals are.There are all kinds of calls to get that great trophy.This isn't just a videogame cause its so realistic.There are also a lot of hunters to choose from.If you like hunting or even if you don't, I would suggest this game to all.

Carnivores 2 is far superior to any other huntinggame out there, and is much better than the original. Let's face it...nodeer or duck is ever going to charge you and eat you for dinner like theraptor does. It's fun hunting and being the hunted...the AI is actuallyvery repectable. So what's better about part 2? First of all, there issupport for EAX and A3D,as well as Direct 3D and 3DFX Glide. It makes allthe difference! Secondly, you have more choices in terms of weapons...nowthere is a handgun, double-barrel shotgun, and the others from theoriginal. The new hunting environments are excellent, and are littered withrandom dinosaurs going about there business. I'm a fan of games likeHalf-Life, so a hunting sim would never appeal to me. But Carnivores 2 isworth the hard drive space...and let's face it...the price is right!

(More customer reviews)Manhunt 2 by Rockstar Games is a perfectly serviceable adventure game that holds up very well on the PSP.As the game strongly advises from the onset - be sure to play these games with headphones on and preferably in a darkened environment.To do so otherwise greatly diminishes the expertly crafted mood and atmosphere that truly is the best thing about this title.As for the gameplay itself Manhunt2 is a decent, but not great, adventure romp that most players should be able to complete in 10 hours or so.The game spans 15 episodic chapters (with 1 bonus chapter unlocked after completion) that delves into the character and story of Nathan Lamb, a man with no clue as to his past and present state locked up in a psychiatric ward.Graphically, the heavily grained and filtered visual style looks really sharp on the PSP and the audio is wonderfully layered with some excellent effects and a truly magnificent ambient score.

(More customer reviews)I love shooting games, always have. My happiest memories as a kid were shooting my first BB gun and later playing the original Duck Hunt. In the army Iqualified as a sharpshooter with the M-16, and over the last few years I've spent a fortune in dollar bills playing Big Buck Hunter at my favorite watering hole.

When we got a Wii the first game I bought was Cabala's. I hated it... it wasn't about shooting, it was a slow and hard to control simulation, where you walk through the pixel forest forever, and only get a shot off every now-and-then. The main challenge is not to die of old age before bagging your first deer. And I've looked at some of the other shooting games on the Wii, and most of them seem to have the same problem. And a few have mechanical problems... like aiming systems that don't work.I had just about given up, then I got Deer Drive.

Deer Drive is lots of fun. It doesn't pretend to be a simulation. Its basically see the animal, shoot, rinse and repeat.But its fast, its challenging,it works well, looks good and it has a cool simultaneous mode for two people or a party mode for up to four. Its not exactly Big Buck Hunter, but if you'd like one, you'll like the other.

The game isn't all that deep, and you won't want to play for more than a couple of hours at a timeby yourself. But it makes for a fun afternoon or evening with friends, and even by yourself it can be a blast.

Five stars forfun
Four stars overall - I'd recommend this to anyone that likes shooting games. But it would have been nice to have an online mode, and maybe a slightly longer one player mode.

(More customer reviews)What can I say, Deer Hunter 2005 literally blew me away with its fantastic graphics, lifelike AI, and numerous game options.When I first saw the game I assumed it would be terrible based on the last few Deer Hunter games, but then I played the demo and wow what an amazing improvement.

The graphics are simply gorgeous and with a high end video card they really shine.Small weeds and leaves that bend as you move through them among other nice visual touches helps the immersion factor.I have visited many of the places available to hunt in the game and the development team created the levels spot on for the types of foliage and terrain found there.

Another great aspect of the game is the hunter's skill points that get awarded by killing certain amounts of game or by using certain types of weapons.If you increase your tracking skill points for instance, blood trails and tracks appear more frequently which allows you to find that pesky buck you just shot with a longbow.

Yet another great game feature is the inclusion of rare deer to the game, which is a satisfying experience when you become lucky enough to spot and bag one.

Overall Deer Hunter 2005, once the 1.2 patch is applied, is top notch and I really can't foresee myself ever getting bored with this game, unless of course the folks at Atari release Deer Hunter 2006 with similar features and enhancements.

Now my buddies and I can hunt without risking our lives outdoors or in bars!There are lots weapons to choose from, but my favorite is the Magnum Research Mountain Eagle, especially when dealing with buffalo or bears.Watch out for Wolves though, as they tend to swarm, hand-guns are the way to go for those.

The four player vs is fun when people come over, or to play one with the right hand and one with the left.There's also tons of achievements and online leader-boards.Check for my name at the top!

Hunting Unlimited 2009 Review

It doesn't come with a booklet to explain directions and stuff like that but there are tutorials for the controls and how to play the game. People say its a lot like Hunting Unlimited 2008 but I'm not sure because this is my first Hunting Unlimited game. But I would recomend this game to people who like great realistic hunting games.

Remington Great American bird Hunt Review

(More customer reviews)A great hunting game that really resurrects the feeling I got from playing the original Duck Hunt all those years ago on the NES. I'm not too big on hunting sims where you have to sit and wait for game to appear and then if shot at and missed, you are right back to where you started; playing the waiting game all over again. That's what I truly loved about RGABH, was the fact that it is completely void of this style of gameplay. Esentially, it is NOT another Cabela snoozefest. Instead, it's a fast-paced, action-filled, arcade-style bird hunting game!

Like I mentioned above, the first thing that came to mind when I jumped into the game and saw my faithful canine companion run out to spook the birds was Duck Hunt. It was a very rewarding and nostalgic moment for me that slapped a smile across my face. Expanding on the Duck Hunt feel, I was pleasantly surprised to see that players can create customizable character profiles and that there was a nice variety in level design too: lake side, snowy fields, etc. And while I have yet to try the multiplayer with three other players, the game does support four simultaneous players, which is awesome for family and friends. However, I did play it with two other players who are by no means technophiles, but the game was easy enough and rewarding enough for all of us to have a great time. I definitely recommend this title to all Wii owners!

Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2011 Review

(More customer reviews)For those of you who had the old gun where the trigger was in the front, this gun is 100% better.The trigger is now in the back, and the front has a pump reload.Also, all of the controls are customizable (unlike last time).the gun is adjustable so even large people are able to keep the stock of the gun in their shoulder while looking through the scope, giving a very real feeling to the game.

The red scope is cool, and i was very excited before i tried it.It is actually sorta hard to see anything through it.To use it, you hit a button (A is the default) and it makes the screen only viewable through the red lens.However, it is very hard to see anything, making the game a little frustrating.

Also, the game in general is very hard.I kept dieing over and over and have put hours into the game and have still not beat level 1 of 12.The game-play is also just about surviving rather than hitting animals for the gold medal like the last time.You will constantly be jumped by mountain lions and wolves.The bear takes like 30 shots before it goes down.Very unrealistic in that regard.

The arcade mode is amazing though!It is very fun, and lasts only about 3 minutes.Great for when company is over and you can pass it back and forth trying to beat each others score.That part of it alone, makes the whole game worthwhile.However there is like 30 arcade modes, and you have to beat the 12 levels to unlock them all.This is proving to be very hard to do.

Still worth buying, and i do recommend the gun (the lens is not used in arcade mode).The quick pump reload is very fun and makes it much more like and actual arcade game then the older versions.I gave it 4 stars because the campaigns are a little frustrating, but if i could break it out: the arcade 5 stars, the gun 4, and the campaign 3.Buy it!

If you have an xbox or ps3, i would get that version.The gfx are much better, and the gun works the same as for wii.

(More customer reviews)I was very skeptical about this game, then I played the demo on Xbox Live. Wow, was I surprised. This game really is fun and does require some skill and offers a good challenge, all the while delivering an exceptional visual and audio experience. The best thing I like about the game is it's pace, which is probably it's strongest point.

Is it the definitive hunting simulator? No, it'll be too arcade-like for some. What it ultimately boils down to is being an excellent sniper game; you're just shooting animals instead of Nazis or Space Marines or whatever. But it's almost a laid-back shooting game, where you can take your sweet time in doing nearly everything. Almost like a golf game, where you walk a little while, then it's time to test your skill. If you like shooting games but don't want to engage in a 14-year-old frag fest, this game will offer a good challenge in steady aiming and timing. It won me over, and I was dubious at first. For the price, a very good game for the market it is targeting.

Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2010 Review

(More customer reviews)I've only been introduced to the series for about a week now and I was playing Cabela's Big Game Hunter on the PS2. Now I know the game isn't the greatest due to the graphics and it being an older system and all, but the only aspect of the game that gave me a problem was the fishing aspect. In the newer version Cabela's Gig Game Hunter 2010 the graphics have made a huge leap in the right direction and some of the in game chalenges are quite fun to play. If you didn't enjoy the fishing portion in the older games than this one is for you, fish are spared in this game and I'm glad.

If your not into the whole hunting game and don't want to shell out $40 than I say at least rent in and enjoy the graphics as well as hunting big game animals.

P.S. No real animals were hurt durning the making of this game.

(More customer reviews)Just purchased my first WII at the new reduced price. Wanted a new shooter that came with it's own gun peripheral. The Top Shot Wii sawed off shotgun peripheral worked well once I got the right configuration selected from the options. The game controls are very intuitive and the first few levels of the game that I have played through have proven enjoyable enough without being too difficult. The continue is a great help whenever you come to an untimely demise and being pretty much of a pacifist, I find the action fairly comfortably paced. Someone who is pickier about constant action, high intensity and challenge from a first person shooter, probably would find this a bit of a yawner, but as a recreational hunting simulation it definitely satisfies. Of course there is the familiar problem with occasional invisible walls, but from what I've seen in video reviews of other hunting games, it is fairly minimal. The multiplayer is reminiscent of Deer Drive with a lot larger variety of animals. I have had gamers between the age of 10 to 74 play this game and it appeals to all age groups.
