(More customer reviews)I love shooting games, always have. My happiest memories as a kid were shooting my first BB gun and later playing the original Duck Hunt. In the army Iqualified as a sharpshooter with the M-16, and over the last few years I've spent a fortune in dollar bills playing Big Buck Hunter at my favorite watering hole.

When we got a Wii the first game I bought was Cabala's. I hated it... it wasn't about shooting, it was a slow and hard to control simulation, where you walk through the pixel forest forever, and only get a shot off every now-and-then. The main challenge is not to die of old age before bagging your first deer. And I've looked at some of the other shooting games on the Wii, and most of them seem to have the same problem. And a few have mechanical problems... like aiming systems that don't work.I had just about given up, then I got Deer Drive.

Deer Drive is lots of fun. It doesn't pretend to be a simulation. Its basically see the animal, shoot, rinse and repeat.But its fast, its challenging,it works well, looks good and it has a cool simultaneous mode for two people or a party mode for up to four. Its not exactly Big Buck Hunter, but if you'd like one, you'll like the other.

The game isn't all that deep, and you won't want to play for more than a couple of hours at a timeby yourself. But it makes for a fun afternoon or evening with friends, and even by yourself it can be a blast.

Five stars forfun
Four stars overall - I'd recommend this to anyone that likes shooting games. But it would have been nice to have an online mode, and maybe a slightly longer one player mode.

Deer Hunter 2005 Review

(More customer reviews)What can I say, Deer Hunter 2005 literally blew me away with its fantastic graphics, lifelike AI, and numerous game options.When I first saw the game I assumed it would be terrible based on the last few Deer Hunter games, but then I played the demo and wow what an amazing improvement.

The graphics are simply gorgeous and with a high end video card they really shine.Small weeds and leaves that bend as you move through them among other nice visual touches helps the immersion factor.I have visited many of the places available to hunt in the game and the development team created the levels spot on for the types of foliage and terrain found there.

Another great aspect of the game is the hunter's skill points that get awarded by killing certain amounts of game or by using certain types of weapons.If you increase your tracking skill points for instance, blood trails and tracks appear more frequently which allows you to find that pesky buck you just shot with a longbow.

Yet another great game feature is the inclusion of rare deer to the game, which is a satisfying experience when you become lucky enough to spot and bag one.

Overall Deer Hunter 2005, once the 1.2 patch is applied, is top notch and I really can't foresee myself ever getting bored with this game, unless of course the folks at Atari release Deer Hunter 2006 with similar features and enhancements.

Now my buddies and I can hunt without risking our lives outdoors or in bars!There are lots weapons to choose from, but my favorite is the Magnum Research Mountain Eagle, especially when dealing with buffalo or bears.Watch out for Wolves though, as they tend to swarm, hand-guns are the way to go for those.

The four player vs is fun when people come over, or to play one with the right hand and one with the left.There's also tons of achievements and online leader-boards.Check for my name at the top!
