Zuma Deluxe Review

Zuma Deluxe
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Zuma Deluxe is like several PC games in that the goal is to eliminate balls by shooting balls of the same color at the chain. For example, with Luxor, the shooter is at the bottom of the screen and your goal is to eliminate all of the balls.

In Zuma Deluxe, the goal is the same except that the frog shooter is at the *center* of the board and rotates 360 degrees. Chains of various colored balls snake towards an opening. If the balls reach that opening, you lose a life. (You get 3 lives per game, but can accrue additional lives if you score 30,000 + pointsif I recall).

There are quite a few puzzles within each Level; however, you have to complete ALL the stages in order to reach the next Level. For example, I'm on Level 6 which happens to have 6 Stages. I can't get past this tricky Stage 6, so I keep getting knocked back down to Stage 1 of Level 6.

Random balls will light up during gameplay and if you eliminate the chain that contains these particular balls, you get special temporary perks. For example, there are balls that will create a laser shot for accuracy, slow down the balls, stop the balls, reverse the balls, or fry all the surrounding balls (this one is my fave!).

Also, there is a coin that shows up randomly on the outskirts of the maze and if you hit the coin, you get extra points. You also get extra points for shooting chains in the middle of "gaps".

There are triangular mazes, circuituous square mazes, and even mazes with two openings. Perhaps the most tricky, however, are those that snake under one another, making it difficult to track the balls.

You can play two versions: Gauntlet and Adventure. You can choose to make the game full screen or small screen.

My only complaint is that I bought this game in the store and like Bookworm (another Pop Cap game), I had to re-download a game using a universal .exe patch in order to get the game to work. Without it, the game starts with a 60 minute "trial period" that won't allow you to play beyond it. This is a serious glitch that Pop Cap Games needs to deal with, because it affects other games, too (such as Insaniquarium). If you need the patch, un-install Zuma Deluxe and re-install using http://beta.popcap.com/pubfiles/PopCDFix.exe

I highly recommend this addictive PC game!

Disciples Rise of the Elves Gold Review

Disciples Rise of the Elves Gold

This game although only boasts unique 2d graphics, offers much compensation in it's gameplay. The story is interesting as well. It is a turn-based game, but my only complaint is it needs more content. (I mean this is the expansion pack! I played the original and this expansion pack in about 30-40 hours.) It also comes with a construction set, to make your own maps and set your own quests... but it takes some time to get the hang of.

Rollercoaster Tycoon 3: Gold Compilation Pack Review

Rollercoaster Tycoon 3: Gold Compilation Pack
Average Reviews:

I have not bought the Gold Compilation, but I have bought all threegames separately, and I can safely say that this is a great deal.Overall, I think I've spent about $90 on the game and two expansion packs, so this is much better.

The game itself is great. It makes the leap into the 3D realm flawlessly without sacrificing the gameplay that made the original RCT's so fantastic! All the quirky things from the original RCT3 have been fixed in these expansion packs, and the ability to make water parks and animal exhibits is great.Of course, don't get me started on the HUUUUUUGE assortment of flat rides and roller coasters. They are enough to keep you busy for hours.

Unfortunately, the game is a huge strain on your computer system.I have a 1.6Ghz processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 128 GeForce FX Video Card, and still, the park gets really choppy as it grows to include more rides and people.I wouldn't buy this game unless your computer's specs are similar to mine.I previously played it on a 256MB computer with the same video card, and it was awful. So yes, the game does use up a lot of memory, but if you are lucky enough to have an above average computer, then you should have no problem running the game.Enjoy!

Counter-Strike 1 Anthology Review

Counter-Strike 1 Anthology
Average Reviews:

It is nice to be able to play a game that has a voice capability in game instead of having to deal with Ventrilo or Teamspeak. Also one thing i want to mention is when you buy this game here is a list of games that come with it and their ratings. (They dont tell you about a couple of them)

Counter Strike 1.6 (5 Stars)
Counter Strike Condition Zero (4 1/2 Stars)
Counter Strike Condition Zero Deleted Scenes (4 1/2 Stars)
Day Of Defeat 1.6 (4 Stars)
Deathmatch Classic (5 Stars)
Ricochet (2 Stars)

Counter Strike is the game that started it all. It is enjoyable to play and the graphics are fairly decent. If you want the most killer graphics then i suggest you get the Counter Strike Source Package. Condition Zero is a separate game not an addition pack. The reason i gave it 4 1/2 stars is because I have a slight problem of when i let go of a direction button (to go forward, backward, sideways). When i let go it keeps going for less than a second. Day Of Defeat 1.6 Is fun but some of the servers lag a lot. Deathmatch Classic is a really funny game. This is really old and it is funny to watch all these people walk around with frozen fake faces. Ricochet is an odd game of jumping on these pads and knocking people of the pads to me its pointless. All these games use the Steam platform which can be tedious. DEFINATLY DO NOT!!!!! BUY THIS GAME USED.It will not work. Also when you choose to join the 2000+ servers on CS 1.6 sometimes there is a server that has all these dumb pointless sounds that you have to download to join the server. Overall a neat game, even though it is old there are still tons of people who play it!

Hoyle Casino Empire Review

Hoyle Casino Empire
Average Reviews:

This game isn't the most complex one of the "tycoon" games you will find.It is pretty entertaining.Sometimes I like a game that isn't so complicated that it takes three websites to consult with how to just make it through. The casinos that you work through are [copies] of their Las Vegas Counterparts, as are the "celebrities" that will make it into your casino if you are good enough. Some of the graphics are 2D such as many of the attractions you will build in your casino, and the games really aren't that distinquishable.
It is fairly easy to get the hang of, the audio is pretty good, with background noise, some nice lounge music, and commentary from the guests. The game does throw your casino development with a few curves such as other casinos trying to infiltrate and disrupt your business. Its fun, lighthearted, and a great way to get started in other "Tycoon" sort of games. While it isn't the best Tycoon game out there, I do like this one, it has good game play, and you don't need to buy a guide to work through this one.

Amun Rising is essentially a continuation of the first Luxor game.Same methodology but different patterns/paths, more stages and more levels in three skill categories (beginner, intermediate and advanced). One nice addition is a scorpion power egg that wipes out all the balls up to the end of the chain. Some of the new patterns are devious and the final level in the final stage is dizzying. If you want to start a new game at the beginning instead of starting at the same stage where you finished, type in "-unlocklevels -unlockstages" (minus the quote marks) at the end of the .exe file.

Luxor 3 Review

Luxor 3
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After ZUMA's success, a number of clones appeared - but the LUXOR series is the one that actually improved on some aspects of the concept. As the series progressed, LUXOR games became more and more self-reliant. With LUXOR 3 the franchise finally comes to age.

A series of colored balls (with the number of different colors increasing every few levels) gets pushed and you have to match them in sets of three or more in order to remove them - and prevent them from reaching the end zone. Instead of having the "shooter" in the center, it is located at the bottom and it slides left and right. This makes for some quite difficult shots (especially when obstructed by the advancing row of balls) and raises the difficulty of the game.
On the other hand, the power-ups are more powerful, at the end of every round a number of coins and gems drop and "catching" them add lives to your paddle. It seems pretty straight-forward yet it can become highly...addictive!

Compared to the first installment of the series, LUXOR 3 is graphically more impressive, enriched as to the dropping bonuses (and...penalties) - yet it will seem somewhat easier to seasoned players of the series; nevertheless, it will fulfill the fans craving for more pharaohnic fun!

This is an example of what has come to be known as Casual Gaming: small, resource-light games that are fun for the whole family.
It would be a good idea to download the 60-min trial version from a casual games site, such as REFLEXIVE (you can Google it), and decide for yourself whether this is indeed your cup of tea. It wouldn't hurt to wait for the price to drop either: most casual games sell for no more than $10.

RECOMMENDED!

Test Drive Unlimited Review

Test Drive Unlimited
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Test Drive Unlimited pros:
* comes on DVD instead of multiple CDs
* wide open environment (the entire 'big island' of Oahu, Hawaii)
* clever and seamless mixing of SP and MP experiences when online
* a truly huge selection of cars, from foreign to domestic, and muscle cars to exotics
* impressive vistas and white-knuckle racing challenges, with strangers and (with a little work) with friends
* driving wheels really make a difference, although you can race with a joystick, pc game pad controller, or just your keyboard (you will have the most fun and the best driving experience with a wheel, however - serious drivers won't think twice about this)
* NPC cars seem to ask, for the most part, like common people driving around and doing what they do, including signalling to turn and slowing down for intersections, obeying the traffic lights, and so on
* hit too many cars and the police will chase you - you can outrun them, or you can crash and burn and find yourself paying a fine or even spending a little downtime in the slammer to think about the error of your ways
* buy houses in scenic places with 4, 6, 8, or 10-car garages
* keep a stable of cars in multiple houses around the island
* tunnels!
* multiple car classes, from E - A (with G having some surprises of its own)
* ability to take screenshots in mid-race, changing camera angles, zooming in and out, and so forth.catching air and taking a screenshot is too cool
* motorcyles!

Test Drive Unlimited cons:
* weird save bug that may corrupt your profile and cost you your latest progress - suggest saving your savedgames off to another location after each successful session
* some NVIDIA-related drivers issues (check the Atari TDU forums for which drivers seem to work and what to do when they don't)
* police NPCs are drones. If you blow the doors off a police car, they don't chase you down.Apparently, it's ok to speed as long as 'race clean'

Overall, this game has high replay value, no monthly charges, a helpful community, and some of the best PC racing action I've ever experienced in eleven years of gaming (coming second only to the vehicular carnage game Carmageddon, lo, these many years ago). You may need to hit the forums to figure out how to do this or that, but when the game is working as it should, it is fast, gorgeous, and a metric ton of fun.

Battlefield 2 Review

Battlefield 2
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I read S.Hogan's 'irritatinginferior' review and felt compelled to add my two cents.
I think he didn't give the game enough time or just isn't very good at it because i'm having a lot more fun with it than he is. Vehicle transport is a big part of the game and sure its annoying if a bunch of guys on your team leave without you, but you can request a vehicle drop from your commander or wait for a new vehicle to spawn, or... move on foot.

Problems he had with identifying enemy units in-game are no longer an issue, anyone within a reasonable distance from you in the game.. say 40 feet or so, has their name and color to indicate friend or foe, at all times, you no longer have to aim at someone to find out. Not to mention the uniforms and skin color are usually different.

Some games are dominated by those who get to the planes and helicopters first, but Ive found thats only the case if your playing on a smaller map (and if the pilots are good). With enough players on the map there will be too many ground targets for air vehicles to keep up with and they will ultimately be shot down. There are some very skilled pilots that play this game and they take it very seriously. If you enjoy flight simulators this would probably be worth a go. Ive seen some really impressive videos of pilots in this game, there are several different types of jets and helicopters, if you can't fly very well but want to fight from above I would suggest getting a joystick or just playing as a second gunner.

The game can be a bit choppy at times, mostly dependent on your system. Check the system requirements before purchasing the game, this will not run very well on older systems, but does take full advantage of some of the newest video cards available. I recommend at least 1GB ram to play, 2GB would of course be better but not necessary.

camping or 'baseraping' is a problem as stated, but thats due to the nature of the game. If the enemy is taking over a base you might not want to spawn there because of it, but if you think youve got a shot at stopping them then you might try to spawn there at your own risk. No one likes to die right after they spawn but you can play smart and minimize this.

Gulf of Oman is a fun map, but not my favorite. Seemingly everyones favorite is 'Strike at Karkand'. Its played more than the others anyways. Overall there is a good variety of maps, with all the expansions (special forces expansion comes with the deluxe edition, there are two other expansions downloadable from EA online, Armored Fury and Euro Force) there are plenty of maps to choose from and most offer a variety of gameplay options, meaning it wont always be the same fight, same choke points etc. most of the maps are pretty good, there are some custom maps available as well.

The sniper does seem pretty weak compared to some other games but I think its balanced pretty well. If you enjoy playing as a sniper it wont be the strength of the gun that annoys you but the lack of a extra-zoom feature. there is only one standard zoom length for the sniper rifle. This of course varies between each sniper rifle and there are 2 unlockable ones available as well.

Speaking of unlockable weapons, there are a total of 14 unlockable weapons, 2 for each 'kit' wether it be for the assault kit, sniper kit, anti-tank kit etc. The unlock weapons do seem to be better than the original but they all have different specifications so some people prefer the stock weapons, I am not one of those people.

S.Hogan said the only difference with special forces was zip lines and jetskis, but this is not true. With special forces comes the addition of some new armies including British SAS, Russian Spetsnaz and Insurgent forces. They each have their own set of weapons, some weapons overlap but the difference in stock weapons for various army types (including the USMC, MEC, and Chinese of the original game) is pretty good. Not only is there a fairly realistic variation of weapons per army but vehicles as well. As a British SAS soldier you would be more likely to drive a Desert Raider buggy around, whereas if you were an insurgent force you would drive a pickup truck with a turret gun.
Special forces also introduces Grapple hooks and Zip lines. Night Vision on a select few maps, as well as tear gas as a standard weapon with the support kit. (The gas mask becomes critical in those situations.) There are also new maps with special forces, and new vehicles etc.

"Incredibly slow loading times between games" This is absolutely right. Some servers will play a map 2 times then load a new map, the load times occurs between switching maps, so it is wise to play servers that will stick with a few maps with lots of rounds between load times. Some servers play just one map all the time, so there is a very minimal load time. On average it seems to take about 4-5 minutes to load up a game, the games last anywhere between 5 - 40 minutes depending on various factors.

"So, I payed $40 for 2 days worth of pointless gameplay. " This guy obviously didnt put enough time into the game. With a little practice and getting to know the maps/kits/weapons/vehicles, squad/commander tactics im sure he would have found it at least a litte more enjoyable, personally I can't get enough.

18 Wheels of Steel: Haulin' Review

18 Wheels of Steel: Haulin'
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I wasn't to impressed with Convoy which had some stability issues. Haulin continues (leaps over Convoy) the incredible style of the 18WoS series in a tycoon game that certainly is in a very thin class of terrific tycoon games. Haulin allows you to drive and pick up cargo in the United States and Canada. If you can accumulate enough money you can hire drivers, buy more trucks as well as trailers and retire to the office.

The driving laws are slightly tighter in this game meaning the cops will certainly get on your case if the meter showing your calious regard for driving laws such as running red lights, crossing the divider, and having an accident. The fines are stiffer. The minor issue is if a gas station, a service station, and/or a company is on the opposite side of the street when you cross the divider even with your turn signal on, the red meter starts moving.

So you're a truck driver going to over 40 cities to pick the cargo that you want to haul. The price is next to it and the farther you have to go for adrop off, the more money you make. It also varies whether you want to take a chance and haul precious cargo, overweight cargo or fragile. At the time of this review, I was hauling overweight coal from Phoenix to Montreal for $38k. Ive hits lots of traffic and caused 2 accidents lol. Already, I've been fined up to $12k. With Haulin, the traffic is more diverse, more traffic jams, and the traffic lights seem to last slightly longer but still can be very fast. The AI traffic is slightly better but beware of those quick lane changes. Just like in real life, expect the unexpected. The 18WoS series seems to add a little more with each passing title.

Minor issues: Would like to see more cities, roads, highways/expressways, inclusion of parkways (you hear in real-life a lot of trucks going on parkways when there not suppose to and get stuck which would add more realism), live people (the streets are empty with no movement of people), diverse traffic signals, turn signals at busy intersections, larger cities, dont cross/cross signals for people crossing the street, your character being able to get out of the truck and go into diners, truck stops, motels, and interact with other truckers, mechanics at service stations, more lively gas stations (getting out of your truck and pumping gas) buying food and drinks (water of course), being able to open the hood of your truck, checking the engine, for leaks, filling fluids ect. How about the option of owning a home and buying office property with a dock to park your truck, and go into the office and give the paperwork of the jobs, hiring secretaries as well as other truckers in your company. Being able to get off work and drive off to your home and relax. Actually driving home not those unappealing cut scenes that say 'Next Day". I would also like to see active places all over like seeing other trucks and cars parking in parking lots either at truckstops, gas stations, service stations ect. Sometimes going to mechanic and he cant work on your truck immediately. Dual core processors are mainstream now, lets optimize the next 18WoS title to use it.

In short, this game is quite addictive and one of the best buisness simulators and truck driving games. It has the potential to go even farther if more content can be added. Many games are coming out on DVD's or are already out (for example: The Sims2) to add more content and add totally more realism, the future of this truck driving buisness sim should be released on DVD.

You need a good processor/video card/ and at least 2GB ram to run this game. Im running mine at the time of this review on a Core2Duo E6300 (Dual core 1.66GHZ) and presently 2GB of Ram (one stick died and I RMA'd it) a Saphire x1900xtx and it runs great. Be careful with onboard graphics.

I wonder if the makers of the 18WoS series will add an online version which can allow players to interact with each other on the CB, meet at gas stations, diners, motels, at a truck stop ect. People can buy homes , cars, truck dealerships, service stations with actual moving bays when your truck goes on a lift, gas stations vibrant and working pumps either self or full serve, auto parts stores within cities (where you can actually park on the street or in parking lots) , or work in the office of the trucking company. One can only hope. I think I might be the only one, lol. After Haulin, I'm hoping the graphics will be updated and new content is as well.

*Please Note*
If you own this title, you will not need American Long Haul. It's 99 percent the same. Extreme Trucker is totally different.

Star Wars Battlefront II (Mini Box) Review

Star Wars Battlefront II
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a very ambitious game that tries to include nearly everything in the Star Wars universe--from Jedis and high-tech weapons to space battles and land invasions--in a single package. For the most part, it pulls this off credibly.

Gameplay: This game is primarily a first-person shooter, although it includes some simple flight simulation and strategic gameplay. The single-player campaign focuses on Darth Vader's unit, the 501st squad of Clone troopers seen in the most recent Star Wars movies. Over the course of about 16 missions, you'll go from classic location to location, fighting against rebels, Wookies, droid armies, Jedi, and others as you tighten the emperor's grasp upon the galaxy. There are a couple truly great missions. For example, the best mission of the campaign was a reenactment of the capture and invasion of Princess Leia's ship, as seen at the beginnning of Episode IV. It's an intense, nearly perfect rendition of the movie scene, with Vader and his army of stormtroopers entering the captured ship through a hole blasted in its hull and battling it out with rebels. Overall, the campaign is well put together and should last 15-20 hours. My major complaint is that the missions vary wildly in difficulty, from those which should be easily finished by casual gamers to others that will require as many as 10-20 attempts to complete for even a serious gamer. Needless to say, your frustration level will likely get high after trying to conquer Hoth (the last and toughest mission) after the tenth failed attempt.

The game has three gameplay modes. First, there are space battles. Generally, these are well done. The ships are detailed and scaled well, and you get an opportunity to fly many different kinds of craft. You can even land inside of an enemy capital ship, destroy vital systems, shoot it out with enemy soldier, and even fly off in an enemy ship. The flight simulation feels a lot like the old X-wing and TIE fighter games, but with vastly improved graphics. The second part of the game--and the major focus--is the land battles. These involve fighting to control certain points of the map, which produce reinforcements for your army. As long as you have reinforcements, you respawn after dying and can choose from among several classes to return as (e.g., trooper, engineer, scout, etc). If you hold certain captured points, you'll be able to respawn as a hero character like Vader or Boba Fett. These characters are powerful, but not unstoppable, and they are usually appropriate to their environment. Playing as a Jedi is enjoyable, but does not have the same depth of control and tactics as Jedi Outcast or Jedi Academy. Still, the entrance of a hero onto the scene definitely gets noticed.

The third element of gameplay is a Risk-like game called Galactic Conquest mode that allows you to fight a computer enemy on a map of 15 planets. The object is to conquer all the planets (classic Star Wars places like Hoth, Kamino, Tattooine, etc.) and destroy the enemy fleets. It's a decent diversion for a while and should give the game some replay value. Additionally, there are various skirmish and quick-play modes. One of the draws for this game is the multiplayer capacity, which is probably quite fun though I haven't played it (I'm strictly a solo gamer).

The game is well polished, and I experienced no bugs in the campaign except that I never managed to get the imperial officer's chaingun to work. The instruction book is thin but provides the necessary basics, and there is a decent in-game tutorial. Unfortunately, the game does not allow any saves within missions, which will be a bit annoying during a few of the tougher campaign missions. However, the interface is clean and understandable and all of the controls can be customized for a keyboard, mouse, and/or gamepad.

Finally, I feared that the AI in this game was going to be bad, based on things I've read. However, it's quite acceptable in most circumstances. Enemy computer opponents will hide behind cover, try to outflank you, dodge and roll, snipe at you, and so forth. Computer allies usually hold their own when the odds are even, but the game really wants the player to be the star here, thus you'll be doing much of the killing, capturing of points, and saving the day. So, the AI is not bad per se, it's just geared toward making the player the center of attention.

Graphics: The game looks very good. Character models, ships, terrain, and special effects are all convincing. The game has a number of cutscenes from the movies. Also, on a mid-range PC (3ghz Pentium, 1GB of RAM, Geforce 6600GT), I experienced no lag or studder in framerates, even with a lot happening on screen.

Sound: Everything was fine in this department. The grand Star Wars score played in the background at appropriate times, and all of the weapons, ships, voices, and so forth sounded as they should.

Overall, I recommend this game to anyone into the Star Wars franchise or interested in first-person shooters. If you only play the single-player component of games (like me), I would suggest waiting until the price of the game drops to about $30. This game really does beg for an expansion which could add another campaign, some more planets to add to the Galactic Campaign mode, more ships, weapons, etc. If you like playing multiplayer, then the current price ($40-$50) is a bit more justified.

Product Description:

Star Wars Battlefront II takes the best-selling Star Wars video game of all time one Imperial-walker step forward with all-new space combat, playable Jedi, and never-before-seen environments straight out of the Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith movie. Fans of the original Star Wars Battlefront will also enjoy an all-new single-player experience that takes players through an epic, story-based saga where every action the player takes impacts the battlefront and, ultimately, the fate of the Star Wars galaxy.Battlefront II improves upon the original game's single-player experience with open-ended, mission-based objectives inspired from all six Star Wars films. The compelling storyline spans more than 16 new locations, many from the Episode III movie, including volcanic Mustafar and the space battle above Coruscant. All-new classic movie moments complete the Battlefront II experience, as players battle within the interior of the Death Star and visit Princess Leia's blockade runner, the Tantive IV, as seen at the beginning of Episode IV A New Hope. In addition, at certain key moments within the battles, players can earn the opportunity to wield a lightsaber and use the Force as a Jedi. For the first time ever, Battlefront players can engage in space combat and, during the same battle, board enemy ships to attack from within. Starting on foot inside a capital ship, players can enter the starcraft of their choice and travel into space to dogfight with the rival faction. From there, they can dock within the enemy's capital ship, overtake the ship's command posts, man its turrets to disable its shields and destroy it from within! Or, they can simply stay inside their own capital ship and defend it from attacks and enemy fire. The choice is theirs.

Emergency 3 Review

Emergency 3
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After the first 2 titles of the Emerrgency series, one would have thought that the game's developers would have done more than make the game prettier... but that's exactly what has happened. I reviewed Emergency2 with my chief complaint that the A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) needed major improvement.... well, sadly they have yet to address this issue.

Firefighters will stand around and die rather than fight the fire, they wont advance on a fire... and worst of all, they STILL will crush themselves into a corner rather than go to the places directed... they will even head off in the opposite direction even though it's obvious that there is no path to the destination....The civilians regurally cross police lines and walk directly into danger...very sad.

Sorry Guys, but adding slow motion flying bodies and nicer graphics does not improve the game.... it only improves the look.

You're charaters and vehicles are still have the I.Q. of a bag of hammers.

The scenarios are good and can be won, but most players will get so frustrated with the A.I., that they will more than likely put the game away.I'll take FireFighter Command over this any day.

Police Quest Collection Review

Police Quest Collection
Average Reviews:

I love PQ1-Police Quest: Open Season. After Open Season it got bad. Daryl Gates's Open Season was eary and very tough, I needed the hint book. The only problem I have with this compilation is PQ1. I hated the VGA version (remake) and hoped both EGA and VGA were on the cd's. Unfortunatly EGA was left out. Similar to Leisure Suit Larry 1. I was very disapointed with both remakes of PQ1 and Leisure Suit Larry 1.
Police Quest 1 dealt with the Death Angel Jesse Baines. You are Sonny Bonds regular police officer patrolling the streets until you get promoted to detective and try to track down the death angel. The ending was great and one of a kind. The hotel was the final (would of been the final meeting with Baines) part of the game. After you play poker for alittle while, you recognize Baines across from you and when you go back up to his hotel suite LOOK OUT!. Police Quest 2 had a different take on PQ1. You are thrown once again into the Death Angels clutches when Baines escapes jail and swore his revenge on Sonny Bonds, The classic writing to issue a command was great. The ending was terrific where you had to difuse a bomb as well as meet Baines again in a different city. PQ3 was also oe of my favorites. The graphics were much improved and you again were Sonny Bonds but your true love Marie (who you met in PQ1 but Sonny knew her before that) was stabbed by a visious gang (part of an occult). From patrolling the streets to becoming detective, Sonny is once again seeking all the answers and trying to stay calm and hope Marie recoperates after getting stabbed and left in critical condition. PQ 4 Open Season takes you out of Lytton as well as Sonny Bonds's shoes and into a detective who works in Los Angeles. This one is very ear, gorry (back in those times), and took you to different places. Once the PQ series switched to SWAt it was terrible, Jim Walls, please come back! If Police Quest was resurrected now the graphics and gameplay would be amazing. Imagine sitting on the highway with a radar gun pulling over people, respondonding to a bank robbery ect...

Ship Simulator Review

Ship Simulator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Did you ever wonder what it would have been like to sail Titanic into New York harbor? That would be serious business and so is this software. The program features various vessels, along with Titanic all then way down to a 35 footer, participating in missions in four different locations with you in command. The ships respond realistically to engine and rudder commands. I found it to be the closest thing to actually being on the bridge out at sea. Young gamers may not have the patience required to handle these missions in real time, reading charts, minding weather conditions and being ever watchful for other ships in the shipping lanes. The supplied documentation leaves a lot to be desired and is particularly silent on editing missions or creating your own which would be fun if they only bothered to explain how. And the scenarios for the power racing boat are unrealistic to the point of being rediculous, with jumps, requiring speed to accomplish, placed too close to spectator boats. But there are plenty of other pre-programmed missions for the other ships to keep you busy for quite a while. Despite a few shortcomings I do recommend this especially for boating enthusiasts who are house-bound during the winter months on land. Try it, full speed ahead.
