Logitech G25 Racing Wheel Review

Logitech G25 Racing Wheel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm not an eloquent guy, and certainly not a frequent Amazon reviewer, but I just thought I'd clear up questions if anyone else is in the same boat I was (PS3 owner looking for a wheel).

I love driving sims for PS2, and thought the G25 would be a great way to get my dad to play some games too. I wasn't sure how the G25 would work with the PS3, but lo, it's flawless. Hooked up via USB, the wheel can fully mimic the function of the Driving Force Pro, so Gran Turismo and ToCA give you everything they've got. It also has a lot of future potential with the Gated gearbox and clutch-pedal that most current games don't use. The only reason you might keep a sixaxis handy is for the "home" button to quit to the XMB (ps3 OS).

"Feedback" is an understatement, as the word makes me think of the N64 rumble-pack. Most of you potential buyers are already aware of the wheel pulling you out of turns, or giving enough feedback so you know just when you're about to lose grip through a corner. But the G25 can be so subtle that it almost creates a "3D" feedback map. I'm not sure how to explain it, but when your in-game left rear tire hits a rumble strip, it feel like that specific tire has really hit a rumble strip. I have no idea how they do this with just two force motors in the G25.

In any event, the quality of the road-response is absolutely worth the price, which is already pretty decent here with free shipping. The DFP was tempting, as I've tried it on a PS2, but this wheel is much more subtle, much better looking, and will be the gold-standard for future driving games. No regrets here, just a happy father-son bonding experience and less wear on our real-world cars.

Colin McRae Rally 2.0 Review

Colin McRae Rally 2.0
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am very impressed with Colin McRae Rally. It provides an all around great gaming experience.
In the game itself, the tracks are widely varied in both their look and feel.If you have a force feedback controller you'll really appreciate the different surfaces. The cars have noticeable handling differences and setting them up for a particular surface/weather combination requires some work. The icing on the cake are the verbal calls from your navigator letting you know about the track up ahead.
As other reviews have mentioned, the damange model is very cool. You can hear and see the damaged parts of your car.Windows break, hoods crumple and bumpers drag on the ground.I've also noticed that if your electric system is damanged you'll occassionally find yourself driving along with a turn signal running. You might also see your headlights fail -- not fun on a night course.
That said, I was still looking for more out of the damange model.I regularly slam the passenger side of the car into a tree.. I was expecting my navigator to be "damanged" after some of those hits.:)Also, I was never able to get a car to completely break down.I don't know if there is a way to DNF in this game.
The 3 skill levels seem non-linear in difficulty. On the lowest level it is pretty easy to win the championship, but as soon as you jump to "intermediate" your competition gets substantially better and it is difficult to pull off top finishes.
One last gripe about the gameplay... when flip the car or go off the road you are immediately returned the road and continue the race.Even if you can't DNF, there should be some sort of large time penalty.
All in all a great game. The gameplay is a lot of fun and it will give your force feedback wheel quite a workout.I've even found the car control I learned in this game helped in other racing sims.

Nascar Racing 4 Review

Incredible.Just got my copy today.I'm blown away. This is not some race-around-and-smash-other cars game like the EA Nascar games, this is pure simulation. The physics model is incredible. The graphics are top notch... includes D3D *and* OpenGL.Attention to detail in the physics department is why I liked the demo, and what prompted me to pick up the boxed retail. If you fall behind a bit, or can't figure out the optimum path through a corner, you've got a lot of catching up to do.If you don't care about tweaking tire pressure, camber, weight distribution, I really wouldn't bother.Go pick up a fun arcade game like Colin McRae 2.If you dig the *whole* experience, give Papyrus its due and pick this one up.

HKS Racing Controller Review

HKS Racing Controller
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just received the controller and so far it's amazing. Keep in mind that these are simple first impressions, but thus far, color me impressed. Right off the bat the controller itself feels solid. Build quality is easily a 7 or 8 out of 10. The auto-entering wheel is going to be great for oval races in GT5 and the new NASCAR game. For once I can hold a fairly steady racing line, which has definitely improved my laptimes a bit. So far I've only tested the controller with Burnout Paradise and F1 2010. Burnout I noticed the tighter analog stick helped out while on F1 2010 the steering wheel was smoother. The pressurized gas and brake pedals are phenominal, specially on F1. The great thing about this controller is the ability to change setups on-the-fly. There is a little switch on the back that is labeled "NFS/GT" which swaps the Square/X with L2/R2.

For fast maneuvers like in Burnout, the steering wheel doesn't respond *quite* as fast as I would like, but it still works very well. I think the best part about this controller is how versatile it is. With F1 2010 the steering wheel really helped in the middle of turns where I usually have to put a bit more wheel into it and often spin or get really loose requiring me to get off the throttle. Speaking of which, the throttle on the controller compared to R2 on the official PS3 controller is like night and day. Everyone knows how loose the analog sticks and triggers feel on the official PS3 controller. That is all tightened up quite nicely with the HKS controller. Much more control.

With Gran Turismo 5 now out, I have been putting this controller through it's paces and am happy to report it is holding up quite nicely. The steering wheel on the controller really shines through on the license tests where the difference between Gold and Silver can .001 of a second. With the steering wheel I can hold a steady line through the turns which allows me to keep as much speed as possible. What I'm finding I like most about this controller though is how I can use the analog stick for the hard turns but I can immediately switch to the steering wheel if I come up on a turn that requires just a little more finesse.

My only complaints would be the digital led readout...it's not so much a complaint, but rather that I find it useless as I'm paying attention to the screen, not the controller. This leads me to my second complaint; the controller is wired. While InterWorks has included more than enough length in the USB cord (which is gold-plated, MAJOR props for that, excellent connections!), I'm curious to see if they could have possible removed the led and put in a bluetooth chip and small battery...perhaps gen 2?

Overall, I'm really digging this new controller. There are a few racing games coming out in the future that I look forward to more now that I have this controller. NASCAR 2011 for instance should really benefit from this controller. For anyone who can't afford a racing wheel/seat, or who just don't have enough room for a racing wheel/seat, this is a near-perfect substitution. Definitely recommended!

Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Review

Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This game is a great arcade racing game.Realism is not part of the game and that is fine I really didn't want that.I have seen a lot of people however comparing it to NFSU2 and saying that it blows it away.I somewhat disagree. The only things this game had an advantage on NFSU2 was the licensed vehicles and mods you were able to make. The one thing I however loved about NFSU2 was driving my car around with the engine and sound effects turned up.I loved hearing that engine and the great sound effects. It really improved the game. However Midnight Club Dub Ed seemed to take their sound effects straight from the Grand Theft Auto series. This works fine in GTA but in a cusomizing racing game it is really a let down.I mean the sounds aren't even remotely close to sounding real.I really emphasized on this because it bothered me the most.

The next thing is the graphics.Once again not as sharp as NFSU2 but still good enough to be enjoyable. The details throughout the cities are nice touches. They could have improved this a little but it is good enough where I wouldn't want it any better due to loading times.

Control of the vehicles is fine. The only thing that bothers me is when you press the accelerator button it is full throttle or none. This bothered me because I couldn't cruise around at normal speeds with the manual transmission on.Like for instance I would drive in NFSU2 down some streets at normal speeds in sixth gear like you would really drive the car in real life.In this game you either go full speed or are coasting. It just doesn't feel real.

The gameplay however I believe is where this game does shine. It is challenging and rewarding. There are some races that took me quite some time to complete.Sometimes you will just have to put the controller down and walk away before you start throwing things.I can not tell you how many times I would be a turn away from the finish line in the lead and low and behold here comes a car, bus, or something else out of nowhere and smack! You get passed race over. This game is well worth the money and despite some drawbacks I do reccomend it and hope they come out with a new one.
One more thing. This game dogs on some of the American cars again. For instance the Z06 Corvette has better real life handling and speed times than many of the other cars in the game but you wouldn't know that from the game.It controls like a classic car and doesn't have the speed it should.

Need For Speed: Most Wanted Review

Need For Speed: Most Wanted
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The game is fast and fun, but with some tearing on the PS2 version. Poor PS2, it just can't handle the speed anymore. I can't wait for the PS3. I have a 41" Sony XBR Tube TV and my eyes were bleeding the first night of play. Wow!! My eye doctor gave me a bottle of teardrops for playing these types of games. Your eyes don't get washed by normal blinking and dry out because you're concentrating so much. Get yourself some REFRESH TEARS if you play race games for hours on end. You'll need it here. The graphics are good with nice rain and sunlight effects. The Dolby Pro Logic is some of the best surround I've heard in a game. The thunder coming out of my rear effects speakers was incredible. There's a WIDESCREEN feature. There is an option to mix the 26 songs in the jukebox anyway you like. I don't care for Hip Hop so I turned it all off and put all the Heavy Metal in random order. You can also sample every song to make your choice. If you don't like Heavy Metal or Hip Hop you can turn it ALL off and just listen to the sounds of the engines purring. The MENUS are confusing at first as there are many sub-menus within sub-menus. It took me 15 minutes just to figure out how to get out of CAREER MODE. (You must PAUSE, go to your SAFE HOUSE, and GO BACK two times to find the MAIN MENU.) It's not the most user friendly menu system I've seen.

This time NEED FOR SPEED mixes the free roaming city of the UNDERGROUND series with the heavy police presence of THE HOT PURSUIT games. The game has a million tracks and a million things to do.

The meat of the game is the CAREER MODE. This is where you acquire the stats in EVENTS, MILESTONE COMPETITIONS, and CHALLENGES to be challenged by the 15 MOST WANTED on THE BLACKLIST and open all the cars and some of the juicier parts for the cars. You'll meet all the characters in FMV which is a little weird, but kind of cool, for a racing game. The acting is good, but you can forward through all of them if you just want to race. Some of the characters will give you hints via messages on the SMS cellphone and email feature which you can manage by either keeping or deleting them. Along with acquiring stats you'll also need to make your presence known to the police and collect needed BOUNTY points so that when you have enough BOUNTY and stats you'll be challenged by a rival on THE BLACKLIST. Your RAP sheet contains all the info about your ALIAS. The funniest stat was for the amount of damage you've caused the State. CAREER MODE is where you FREE ROAM which is really unnecessary because you'll find yourself getting into the BLACKLIST with the press of a button to enter the events you need to be challenged by a rival. Once you enter an EVENT, CHALLENGE, MILESTONE COMPETITION or BOUNTY, it takes you were you need to go. There are also ICONS throughout the city that are also unnecessary for certain EVENTS. Just go into the BLACKLIST MENU to check off the things you need. However, you will need the WORLD MAP display to set the GPS system to show you where the parts SHOPS are. You can't go directly to them from the BLACKLIST or PAUSE MENU. You'll need to drive to them. You can get to the SAFE HOUSE (your garage) by just pressing the PAUSE button. You don't have to drive there. To me the free roaming around the city is rather moot unless you want to get the lay of the city for when the cops are chasing you. I just wing it with the MINI MAP provided in the lower left corner of the screen looking for the SPEEDBREAKER and COOL DOWN spots. The only time you use the whole city, which opens up later with more sections, is when you're running from the cops. The rest of the events are set courses that you must follow to beat.

Other MODES are QUICK RACE with QUICK PLAY where the game gives you the car for the track you select. The manual tells you to play this MODE because it will unlock special cars or items you can't unlock in other parts of the game. There's also CUSTOM RACE in QUICK PLAY where you use a separate garage with a limited choice of cars until you open up the rest of the cars in CAREER MODE. You can also set the number of laps and the number of rivals for most events. There's SPLIT SCREEN for head to head racing and THE CHALLENGE SERIES, which was the meat of the game in NEED FOR SPEED HOT PURSUIT 2.

RACE TYPES include CIRCUIT, DRAG, LAP KNOCKOUT, SPEEDTRAP, SPRINT, and TOLLBOOTH.

The cars are great, but limited, and can be customized. Visual CUSTOMIZATION is rather needless for reasons I mention below. I love the MUSTANG FASTBACK. As a teen in the late 70's and early 8o's, I street raced a '66 MUSTANG with a 289 punched out to a 302, a Holley 4 barrel, a high-speed rearend, a low race cam, turbo flow mufflers, anti-sway bars, and a Cruisematic transmission. That's it!! We didn't use nitrous or computers. And that car was the fastest quarter-miler in the whole San Fernando Valley in SO CAL. The only car that ever came close to beating me was a CORVETTE. That dreaded CORVETTE is in the game too. The FORD GT is a great car and one of my favorites from GRAN TURISMO. I'm glad they included the LAMBORGINIS from HOT PURSUIT, but where are the FERRARIS? Where else can you destroy a $250,000 FERRARI and just go get another one. Bummer. You will be driving the lesser cars for a while until you earn enough money to buy better ones, but even the smaller cars FLY when you get them souped up. VERY NICE!! VERY FAST!!

One of the best things about the NEED FOR SPEED series are the car physics. HOT PURSUIT 2 did them a little better, but when you get off the road into the dirt or grass your car spins it's tires a little. When you get back on the pavement you can really feel the car gripping the asphalt. I like them better than the floaty rocket car physics of MIDNIGHT CLUB and BURNOUT. The physics are a combination of simulator and arcade. JUST AWESOME!!

WARNING TO REPLAY FANATICS: There is no REPLAY RACE feature in the game to review big events. I've only played the UNDERGROUND series on DEMO, but NEED FOR SPEED HOT PURSUIT 2 (which is my favorite racer of all time) had this feature. As do most other racing games. To me, this is a glaring oversight by EA. Having a racing game without a REPLAY is like not having one of the best features. What's the point of all the visual customization and car damage when you only see your car in the garage and at the start of a race and you're only gonna be looking at it from behind for the rest of the game? A lot of the fun is watching yourself drive after pulling off some ridiculously insane driving techniques or after causing some major damage in a police pursuit. My friends and I love to REPLAY awesome races, critique the driving, and pat ourselves on the back. It's part of the reward for a challenge well done. I mentioned this to a friend and he just groaned. I know it's not a simulator but it should be a STANDARD feature in ALL racing games. Do the race cameras eat up that much memory? I don't think so. EA blew it BIG TIME by not including this feature!! I was really having fun my first night at the game and had taken down 2 of the 15 rivals on THE BLACKLIST in CAREER MODE. But, not having a REPLAY RACE feature almost SINKS this game for me. This game would get a solid 9 from me, but not having a REPLAY brings down my score!! WHAT A DISAPPONITMENT!! I FEEL LIKE SOMEONE HAS CHOPPED OFF MY RIGHT ARM AND I CAN'T SHIFT MY RICE BURNER.

I also filled out the game registration at EA's website and have yet to receive the hints and cheat codes they promised by email. Juggleheads!!

If you can get past the fact that the game has no REPLAY feature, you're going to have a lot of fun. Me, I just can't get over it. I WANT MY REPLAY CAMERA!! I guess I'll have to turn off all the lights in my house, grab a bottle of Jack, and weep by myself in the corner.

ENJOY.

Midtown Madness 2 Review

Midtown Madness 2
Average Reviews:

Even though I'm a big racing sim fan who's into real-world physics and whatnots, I've logged my hours with Midtown Madness and Midtown Madness 2 than with any other racing games.Sure, NASCAR 4 has much better driving physics; the latest Need for Speed has better graphics; but nothing comes close to being as fun as the Midtown Madness games.
This second installment of the series (O how I eagerly await the third one) takes the gamer to two lovely cities, San Francisco and London.I had just returned for a trip to London when I played this game last year, and was more than thrilled to be cruising and racing down the same streets I had set my foot on not so long before. While not 100% accurate, the representations of the cities are remarkable and very fun to explore.
The driving, as has been pointed out many times by others, is rather arcade-like, which means two things: 1) it's easier than driving in the real world, and 2) it's more exciting than serious racing sims. You can ram the other cars on the road as well as scare pedestrians (but not, as in Armageddon, kill them). The cars, modeled after real-life roadsters, come in all shapes and powers, but are responsive and drivable even on a keyboard.(I use driving wheels, which is a bit of an overkill for an arcade game like this, but does make you feel more in control.)
In summary, Midtown Madness 2 is by far the most playable racing game I've ever played. It beats out Armageddon, Grand Theft Auto, Need for Speed, not so much in graphics but in the limitless ways you can have fun.

Midtown Madness 3 Review

This game is a hoot. Pick a car (and earn more cars over time), pick a city (Paris or D.C.), and start driving. You can just cruise around, or race (against yourself, against another player, or against virtual players), or do a job (deliver packages, be a limo driver, be an ambulance, be a police officer, etc.). The cities are huge and rendered with incredible amounts of detail, so even just cruising around is fun. And, everything is smashable so you can drive the way you've always wanted to. This software was obviously a labor of love. Quality is very high compared to most of the other XBox titles I have played.
I'm not a big fan of racing games normally, but I like this one because it it set in cities instead of a boring race track. I feel like I know Paris and D.C. thanks to all the time I've spent in them. By the way, you can visit the Louvre, Notre Dame, Eiffel Tower, etc. in Paris and the various monuments in D.C.
Everyone enjoys this game. That includes me (age 42) and my wife (34); my daughters (6 and 4), my father in law, and my father (who immediately announced plans to buy an XBox of his own).
I'm frankly puzzled at some of the negative opinions others have expressed. Every person I've witnessed playing this game has become an instant fan.

First, let me say that I am new to racing games.I have played the Need For Speed Series, but that is really it.A friend of mine mentioned that the Thrustmaster Ferrari F430 Racing Wheel was compatible with Dirt 2 on the PS3.I contacted Thrustmaster and sure enough, it is!They said that Codemasters had worked with them to get their wheels tech programmed into the game.I was sold.I bought the F430 and Dirt 2.I WAS AMAZED at how comfortable this wheel is.Make no mistake, this wheel is as sturdy a wheel as I have ever used.I tried to play some games on teh Xbox 360 using the Microsoft wheel and when my palms sweat (which was often due to my n00b status), my hands would slip.On the Thrustmaster F430 wheel, the grip is a VERY high quality rubber that meant ZERO slipping when my hands got sweaty.I was also very impressed with the responsiveness of the force feedback.I got to the point where I could tell I was in control and driving the right line, simply by how the wheel was responding which made it feel so realistic!Im playing in automatic mode, but the metal f1 style shifters on the wheel are very sturdy.I currently have one of them programmed as my horn. You will not be dissapointed with this wheel. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of labeled buttons. i rated its appearance as 4 stars for that reason alone.Otherwise, this wheel is an almost identical replica of the wheel on the real F430!

Need For Speed: High Stakes Review

before the need for speed series, i wasn't a fan of computer racing games. after getting nfs 3 i became a fan big time. need for speed 4: high stakes takes the title further into greatness by improving already amazinggraphics. in fact, if you're not careful, you'll crash 'cause you'll bemore focused on the scenery than the road ahead of you. try playing withthe weather effects on for an even more beautiful game. the music andgeneral sound effects are great too. controls are as easy as using thearrrow keys. the number of available cars is great, but some aren'tavailable until your beat certain courses (same goes for some levels). youcan't go wrong with this one, and if you have a home lan, you'll love themultiplayer option (which works over the internet as well).

Crazy Frog Arcade Racer Review

Crazy Frog Arcade Racer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Although there has been no word of a new Crazy Frog album yet, here's something that's also cool: "Crazy Frog Arcade Racer" for Playstation2 ! (In some cases this game is also known as "Crazy Frog Racer 2". I think the first one was for PC or something. I'll try to look for it.)

Anyways, "Crazy Frog Arcade Racer" is really fun if you're into racer games. You'll play as "The Annoying Thing" or one of a bunch of other original characters in this game. You'll then zoom through all sorts of impressive tracks from the Crazy Frog universe based on the music videos like "Axel F" and "We Are the Champions". Race around by yourself or with a friend in neat gameplay modes like "Championship", "Chase" and "Battle" modes. Plus as you race, you'll be listening to one of the Frog's hit songs like "Rock Steady", "Popcorn", and "Hey Baby" as well as not-yet-released songs like "I'm Too Sexy", "The Final Countdown", and "Wonderland".

And if that wasn't enough to satisfy, there are some crazy cool bonuses like two mini-games: "Frog Dance" and "Crazy Pinball". And they've even thrown in the music videos "Axel F" and "Popcorn" in there. (It's rather strange that "We Are the Champions" isn't in there; song OR video, that is.)

So this game is great for those that like the Crazy Frog's unusual "WHEEEEEEEEEEEEE" sound, or for those that just want a racing game to get the juices and your groove going. Trust me; this is good stuff.

Super Mario Kart Review

Super Mario Kart
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It's hard to think of where to begin in a review of a game as great as Super Mario Kart.Super Mario Kart was the first racing game of its type, and now there are a lot of games that have copies its formula, such as Looney Tunes Racing.
In Super Mario Kart, you can choose from many of the famous Nintendo mascots. They are: Mario, Luigi, Princess, Bowser, Donkey Kong Jr., Toad, Yoshi, and Koopa. Each of the racers are equipped with a go-cart, and they all have their own sets of strengths and weaknesses. For example, Toad has fast starts, but is weak and will get bumped around a lot.Bowser is big, so he has slow starts, but doesn't get bumped around that easily. And Mario doesn't have any major ups or downs, he's average in all aspects.
The trend that Super Mario Kart began in racing games is being able to use unlikely weapons such as turtle shells, bolts of lightning, banana peels, and more, against the other racers on the tracks. Each of these weapons have different effects. When a racer runs over a banana peel, or when a turtle shell hits them, they will spin out and come to a complete stop for a few seconds.Lightning causes all the players to shrink, which slows them down and makes them more vulnerable to being run over and flattened flatter than a pancake.Stars give the racer temporary invincibility, mushrooms allow for a short burst of speed, ghosts allow you to steal somebody else's weapon, and feathers will make you jump so high that Michael Jordan would even be jealous.
There are at least 20 tracks that are available to race on in Super Mario Kart. The tracks all have great variety. There are beach tracks, chilling ice tracks, normal dirt tracks, a road made of rainbow, haunted ghost tracks, and many more.
There are a few modes that are available in Super Mario Kart.First is the Mario Kart GP mode. This is the mode that you can race in a one-player game or a two-player game, in which you go up against several computer-controlled players.Once you complete a few laps and finish the race, the standings will come up.If you come in a good enough place overall, you have the chance of winning a bronze, silver, or gold trophy, and possibly opening up new tracks. That brings me to my next point.
In GP (Grand Prix) mode, there is a 50cc, 100cc, and a 150cc mode.50cc is the easiest, with 100cc and 150cc getting progressively harder since the computers will get much faster. While racing in the GP mode, you can use the various weapons and powerups I described earlier, and you just need to come in first place if you can.
Next is the Time Trial option. In Time Trial, it's just you against the clock. When you complete a race, your overall time will be saved on a list of the best times if you were fast enough.
In the VS. mode, you and a friend can race against each other on any of the tracks in a two-player game. This is a good way to bring up a lot of trash talking.
Finally and best of all, is the Battle Mode.In Battle, you and somebody else (it's two-player, you can't go up against the computer in Battle Mode), go to one of four specially designed tracks and duke it out against each other using the turtle shells, bananas, stars, and more. Both you and your opponent have three balloons circling your go-cart.Every time you get hit, you will lose a balloon. The first player to lose all three of their balloons, is the loser.
Everything about Super Mario Kart is simply classic. The graphics are colorful and well-rendered.This was the first game to use the Mode 7 graphics chip, and it was definitely a plus. All the characters are well designed, and the tracks themselves look detailed for a 16-bit game. The sounds sound just like a Mario game should, which is different, but great nonetheless. The music is very catchy and classic. As for control, it's a cinch to make your racer/battler do anything that you need them to do, without any frustration included.
Super Mario Kart is simply one of the best video games ever made! It's one of those games that NEVER gets old no matter how much you play it and it's so fun that fun isn't a good enough word for it.Whether you like racing games or not, you will love Super Mario Kart!I'm not a huge fan of racing games and it's one of my 10, if not 5, favorite video games of all time!!
If you have a Super Nintendo and don't have Super Mario Kart yet, get this game now!!Your SNES collection isn't complete without it!

Test Drive Unlimited Review

Test Drive Unlimited
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Test Drive Unlimited pros:
* comes on DVD instead of multiple CDs
* wide open environment (the entire 'big island' of Oahu, Hawaii)
* clever and seamless mixing of SP and MP experiences when online
* a truly huge selection of cars, from foreign to domestic, and muscle cars to exotics
* impressive vistas and white-knuckle racing challenges, with strangers and (with a little work) with friends
* driving wheels really make a difference, although you can race with a joystick, pc game pad controller, or just your keyboard (you will have the most fun and the best driving experience with a wheel, however - serious drivers won't think twice about this)
* NPC cars seem to ask, for the most part, like common people driving around and doing what they do, including signalling to turn and slowing down for intersections, obeying the traffic lights, and so on
* hit too many cars and the police will chase you - you can outrun them, or you can crash and burn and find yourself paying a fine or even spending a little downtime in the slammer to think about the error of your ways
* buy houses in scenic places with 4, 6, 8, or 10-car garages
* keep a stable of cars in multiple houses around the island
* tunnels!
* multiple car classes, from E - A (with G having some surprises of its own)
* ability to take screenshots in mid-race, changing camera angles, zooming in and out, and so forth.catching air and taking a screenshot is too cool
* motorcyles!

Test Drive Unlimited cons:
* weird save bug that may corrupt your profile and cost you your latest progress - suggest saving your savedgames off to another location after each successful session
* some NVIDIA-related drivers issues (check the Atari TDU forums for which drivers seem to work and what to do when they don't)
* police NPCs are drones. If you blow the doors off a police car, they don't chase you down.Apparently, it's ok to speed as long as 'race clean'

Overall, this game has high replay value, no monthly charges, a helpful community, and some of the best PC racing action I've ever experienced in eleven years of gaming (coming second only to the vehicular carnage game Carmageddon, lo, these many years ago). You may need to hit the forums to figure out how to do this or that, but when the game is working as it should, it is fast, gorgeous, and a metric ton of fun.

Simply the best simulation race game in existance today by far. You will need a machine with a good video card and atleast 2 mg. of memory in order to realize all of the visual dynamics of the game. A very large and well organized software community exists online to support this software allowing for extensive enhancements to the original software - more tracks and cars. Mario Kart: Super Circuit Review

Mario Kart: Super Circuit
Average Reviews:

Although this game is not being released in the US for another month, I bought the imported Japanese version a few days ago (it's called "Mario Kart Advance" overseas), and I have been absolutely enthralled by it ever since my purchase. The graphics are phenomenal and really show off the capabilities of the Game Boy Advance's 32 bit processor. The backgrounds are lush and vivid, and the individual cars are detailed nicely. The music and sound effects are great as well, and the gameplay is true to the classic Super Mario Kart. For those that have played both the Super NES version and the N64 version, I'd say that this game is a bit closer to the original SNES game (which I personally thought was a better game than the N64 sequel).
I'd also like to mention that this game blows away Konami's Krazy Racers.I own both games, and wish that I had saved my money and bought only Mario Kart.Mario Kart has so much more depth that it puts Krazy Racers to shame.Mario Kart is the best game I have played for the GB Advance so far (Castlevania COTM is a close second).
If you're looking for a great, challenging go-cart racing game, don't waste your time with the Konami clone:wait for a month and buy Mario Kart Super Circuit- you'll be glad you did!
