G-Darius Review

G-Darius
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
With many PlayStation-owning shooter fans singing the praises of Einhander and R-Type Delta, this one has sort of been lost in the shuffle. That's a shame, because G Darius has lots to offer both hardcore and casual fans of the genre.
I fear that, since almost all of your foes in this game are robot aquatic creatures (sharks, crabs, sea horses, etc.), some people may dismiss it as "silly".In fact there is nothing silly or stupid about it.It's a fast-paced side-scroller with intensity to spare, and it boasts some of the most hectic bullet-dodging mayhem you'll ever encounter.
Your spacecraft has two weapons which are fired simultaneously:the standard, straightforward gun (horizontal) and grenades (vertical), both of which can be upgraded by snatching orbs from defeated enemies. What makes the game unique is the capture ball, a weapon you can launch at your foes to turn them into your sidekicks. They'll follow you loyally and attack whenever you fire, like the "options" in the Gradius series. There are quite a few different enemies you can do this to, and all of them have unique offensive capabilities. Some fire a very basic shot;some fire a "spread" shot;some hurl themselves at the opposition, causing damage by brazenly crashing into them at high speeds.
Speaking of speed, G Darius rips along at a pretty brisk pace, although the stages themselves are of satisfactory length.Minor slowdown sometimes occurs when you're doing battle with a boss and it launches about 100 bullets in your direction at once.In those rare cases, the slowdown is actually a blessing in disguise, because it affects everything on the screen, not just you.
Yes indeed, the screen can get mighty cluttered at times, but never to a hopelessly overwhelming degree.Unlike some shooters where staying alive is a strictly academic process of trial and error and moving into the right spot at the right time (cough, R-TYPES, cough), G Darius never "punishes" the player for an unwise maneuver by condemning him/her to an instant death. If your reflexes are sharp enough and you never release the rapid fire button, there is always at least a fashion model-slim chance that you'll be able to blast your way out of an extremely sticky situation and emerge victorious by the skin of your teeth.Your shields can be powered up much like your weapons can, a fact that brings new meaning to the term "life-saver".
Mind you, you can do more than dodge and peck away at the opposition to elude destruction at the hands (well, fins anyway) of a big, bullying barracuda or a cluster of kamikaze catfish.Foes bound to your service by the capture ball can be detonated if you want to take out any surrounding adversaries (or if you just plain get sick of having the stupid beasts follow you around).Even better, you can use them to power up your Alpha Beam, a weapon that will easily cut a swathe of carnage through standard enemies and lay some serious pain on the bosses as well.Don't start thinking you're omnipotent, though;each boss has a similar weapon (imaginitively titled the Beta Beam) and when yours meets theirs head-on, a struggle for supremacy ensues, with both beams growing in size and power until A) the duration of the beam expires, B) the battle concludes, or C) the entire screen gets filled by a glorious outpouring of blazing destruction originating from one side or the other.
The graphics here may not be terribly impressive but they get the job done. The designs of the enemies sometimes leave a bit to be desired (there's only so much you can do to make robotic fish look exciting, y'know?).The backgrounds are the game's strongest visual point, with some cool animation telling miniature stories while you're fighting for your life. There's one stage where a planet in the distance is doomed to be destroyed every time you play.Poor planet. My favorite stage has the ruins of a human city floating around;check out your ship's reflection in the mirrored windows of a skyscraper torn from its foundation, silently drifting through space.
The soundtrack has some forgettable fare with a 16-bit feel, but a few tracks are really striking. There's one (in the stage I just described) that can only be described as sounding "spacy" which is devoid of percussion and is so laid-back, it makes the on-screen chaos seem like some bizarre new age therapy. The final battle music is suitably catchy and adrenalized...you can also hear it when you first load the game, before pressing start, but obviously it won't have the same impact. And the "game over" tune is...dare I say it...beautiful!It almost makes it pleasant to end the game prematurely.
At the end of each stage, you'll have to choose between two adjacent stages to move on to.There are fifteen stages in all, and you'll have to beat five of them to win the game.Plus, each stage splits into an upper route and a lower route at the half-way point, and the boss will use different attacks against you depending on which route you take. Therefore, you'll have to play through the game quite a few times before you can truthfully say that you've seen it all. This, plus nine difficulty settings and the ability to adjust your reserve lives, credits, and capture balls makes for very high replay value for shooter fans of all skill levels.
If you still enjoy 2-D shooters, either passionately or casually, I cannot recommend this game enough, as long as you're prepared to PLAY it rather than just look at it.Whatever it lacks in graphic intensity, it more than makes up for with the IMPORTANT kind of intensity, and that's in the gameplay department.I've had this game for several years and I can't imagine it growing tiresome anytime soon.

Logitech Harmony Xbox 360 Remote Review

Logitech Harmony Xbox 360 Remote
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Pros: Easy to use, easy to program, supports Xbox 360 out-of-the-box

Cons: Some of the usual Harmony buttons are missing, small number pad takes some getting used to, Expensive

This is not my first Harmony remote.Even though I don't yet have a 360 (I know I'll be getting one sooner or later), I decided to go ahead and upgrade so that I could pass my older Harmony 688 on to a relative who really could use it.As soon as I heard about this remote, I knew I had to have one.As someone who is excited about the Media Center Extender abilities of the new Xbox 360 (because I've been looking for a way to hear my multiple gigabytes of mp3's and wma's through my home theater's sound system), I was thrilled to find out that I'd be able to use a Harmony remote to control the 360.

I really need say only one thing about this remote (or any other Harmony remote, for that matter), and that is that once you've used this device for a week or two, you'll wonder how you ever got along without one.Sure, I've got small gripes about the Harmony 360.Because of the added Xbox 360 compatibility, some of the buttons usually present on other Harmony remotes (such as Sound, Picture, Page Up/Down, and dedicated Activity buttons) have been replaced by the YXAB buttons necessary to emulate the Xbox 360 controller's inputs.Additionally, the number pad feels as if it's been squished into the bottom of the remote; the number buttons are extremely small and very tightly packed together, and I've already inadvertently switched to the wrong channel several times. And then there's the price: $130 initially seems a bit high for a remote. However, I firmly believe--and I don't say this lightly--that this remote is worth every penny of its price tag (even without the $30 rebate for 360 owners).Ultimately, these gripes are very minor drawbacks to one of the best universal remote controllers ever.

The biggest draw of the Harmony remote--and what sets it apart from the other 99% of universal remotes available today--is its simplicity.Whereas other universal remotes have a dizzying array of buttons and modes for individually controlling every component of a home theater system, the Harmony keeps things simple by operating a home theater the way it should be operated: by understanding and executing the activities that the user wishes to experience. When I want to watch DirecTV, for example, I simply press the large Activities button at the top of the Harmony remote, which then displays all of the available activities on the backlit, easy-to-read screen.I then press the button next to the option for "Watch DirecTV," at which time the remote turns on my television and switches to the Video 1 input, turns on my home theater system and switches it to the Video 1 input, and then turns on my DirecTV reciever.

What's even better is that the remote's "Smart State Technology" is cognizant of the power status (on/off) and current input setting (video 1/2/3/etc) of all of my devices, so that I always get to do what I want when I press that Activity button. And even when something isn't quite right (such as having the sound system set to the wrong input, resulting in no audio--which occasionally happens), the remote's Help button guides the user through a step-by-step troubleshooting procedure that even the most technologically impaired can use, by asking questions such as "Is the stereo receiver on?" or "Is the stereo receiver set to the Video 1 input?"As soon as you press the "no" button, the remote then changes the input of the stereo receiver and asks, "Did that fix the problem?"Because of this activity-based functionality and intuitive help system, my wife can operate our fairly complex home theater system like a pro, even though she doesn't have the first clue as to how each component is connected to all of the others. For those of you who have friends and family who are "technologically challenged" (and you know that we all do), this is the perfect gift.

The remote's setup couldn't be any easier, either.Programming the remote is accomplished using Logitech's web-based software and a mini-USB cable (included in the box). You simply input the brand and model number of each of the components you desire to control with the Harmony, and the software automatically configures all of the buttons and settings, in addition to suggesting which "Activities" (such as Watch TV, Play Xbox, Watch a DVD, Listen to CDs, Play Radio, etc) it can setup for you on the remote. After initial setup, the software allows you to add and remove devices, activities, and even individual button functions, so if one feature is working exactly as you'd planned you can manually "teach" the Harmony a specific command from that device's own remote and program it to a specific button.I, for instance, wanted my Harmony's "back" button to jump to the previous channel on my DirecTV receiver, so adding the new command was as simple as pointing my DirecTV remote at my Harmony, telling the web-based software to learn a new command, and then pressing the "back" button on my original DirecTV remote.Voila!

THe design, styling, and fit-and-finish of the Harmony 360 remote are top-notch.Even though I prefer the TiVo-esque design and button layout of my old Harmony 688, the 360 remote is nice; and it's definitely sleeker and sexier-looking than the 688 (or just about any other Harmony remote, for that matter). It also has a nice, solid, and substantial feel to it; it doesn't feel as if it's simply made of flimsy, brittle plastics.Bottom line: if you're home theater setup includes more than just a television and an Xbox 360, then go buy this remote now.If you don't have an Xbox 360 but your home theater has more than one or two components, then go buy this or any other Harmony remote now.Truly, the greatest products and technologies are those that are so successful that we can't imagine how we ever got along without them (the Web, anyone?), and this remote definitely falls into this category.

NATIVE INSTRUMENTS Traktor DJ Studio 3 ( Windows/Macintosh ) Review

NATIVE INSTRUMENTS Traktor DJ Studio 3

Traktor 3.0 is the most complete DJ software in the market. Do what Dj do with analog equipment and even more. Very easy to configure with midi and audio interfaces. Features 4 turntables, digital effects, itunes import compatibility. It plays MP3s as well as straight WAV files from CD. Feature also 4 four different mixers emulations like Allen & Heath Xone, Ecler Nuo, etc... I'm in heaven. I finally abandoned my records and CDs as well as turntables and CD players. The looping features are just amazing. You can jump betweem loops and remixing on the fly with traktor comes alive, even better than traditional DJ equipment. You can create plenty of markers in the song, etc.. If you are thinking to go digital get traktor and avoid scratch boxes like Final Scratch and Serato Live very hard to setup. I use traktor with an audio interface (M-Audio Firewire 410) and analog mixer and it rocks. It works really smooth. If you want to scratch there are midi interfaces that sell for $300. And there more interface to come in the near feature. Also if you are a scratching DJ you can still use a turntable or CD player just for scratching.
Traktor seems to be the only future for Digital DJing.

I still cannot believe that Endwar has such an amazing voice command system that will pick up on every order your give. You really should invest in the headset bundle to really understand for yourself. Another feature worth listing are the airstrikes and weapons of mass destruction you can call in through your headset to destroy multiple units at once. This game really is a break through in gaming and is worth the extra $$$ for the headset.

I've been playing video bowling games ever since Bowling came out for the Atari 2600. Never have I seen a game that has more realistic pin action than Brunswick Circuit Pro Bowlingby THQ for the Playstation. I'm a bowling fanatic so I'm a hard judge on bowling games. The pin action will leave you in awe. I've played hundreds, perhaps thousands, of games, and still see new pin action at times depending on the bowler, ball, and lane that I use. I never tire of playing this game. I only hope that THQ brings an updated version of this to the Playstation 2!

This game lets you you build a vertical empire. As you build, your population grows larger. You start with $2,000,000 and as your population grows so does your fund. As you achieve higher ratings (1 star, 2 star, 3star, 4 star, 5 star, and "the tower"), you can build morethings. To be awarded the stars needed to get 5 stars and higher you haveto meet certain requirements. You can name 20 people and 20 tenants. Thisgame takes a few months so it will pass time. It is also a good game if youlike only small amounts of pressure. As you journey on your trip to a"the tower" ranking you take up many challanes. Keeping goodevaluation and dealing with terrorists who will go to any level to chargeyou money. But you might not have to pay them, if you have good security. Ithink this would be a good game to have because of all of the traits listedabove. So consider it when you want a game.

Soldier of Fortune Platinum Edition Review

Soldier of Fortune Platinum Edition
Average Reviews:

This game is absolutely great.
First of all, the graphics are amazing. Everything looks realistic, and detailed. As are the sounds.
Second, the game play is nothing to be compared to. You don't feel uncomfortable with your mouse and keyboard. Movements are smooth, you don't have to spend half your bullets trying to hit your target. You have a good number of Weapons, bad guys, and levels. The game includes way too many levels, and hours of gaming, in many different countries and places.
Third, it's as realistic as it could be. You hit them in the leg, they start jumping around. you hit them in the head, they fall, you hit them BETWEEN their legs ==> Believe me, ouch :)
And even that depends on the weapon. If you're using a Shotgun, you'll see them falling apart, even their heads can blow up. In the train level, if you hit the Helicopter Pilot with your sniper, you'll see blood all over inside the heli.
The game doesn't contain much secrets if that's what you are expecting. It's more like Blow'em up style. You don't get lost in the scenarios, and that's what makes it fun. And if you don't like that, you can always try the easy way, using a sniper.
So much fun, you can play it a lot of time. I didn't notice any bug while playing.
Watch out for the Violence and Game's Requirements.
Buy the game, it's really worth it.

Demon's Souls Review

Demon's Souls
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Note: There are additions to the review below my original review.
--------------------------------------------------

I wanted to provide a review, but I see that most of the others have already addressed most of what this game is all about. This review is based off of the "Deluxe Edition," which differs from the regular edition in that it includes an official strategy guide and a slip cover case that houses the game and strategy guide. The game is exactly the same in both versions.

Demon's Souls is a worthwhile experience in itself, and I highly urge any who are on the fence about it to at least give it a rental. It's a game that one will need to play through more than once in order to feel as though the game has been completed. Read other reviews for details into all of the aspects of the game.

I am going to focus my attention on the "extras" provided with the deluxe version. Is the strategy guide worth the extra $10? As somebody who did not play the import versions of Demon's Souls (many people here have), I can safely endorse the purchase of the deluxe version in order to get the strategy guide. For one, it's beautiful. There was much effort in organizing the art and text in a concise and useful way. It's very easy on the eyes. Each walkthrough section has pictures to go along with the walkthrough instructions, which is helpful. It runs 159 pages and is as big as the game case - not bulky at all. Even though it is small, it does not look or feel cheaply made. Here are the topics considered in the table of contents:

Introduction, Class & Gender, Character Building Guide, Survival Guide, Non-Player Characters, Merchants, Living Body and Soul Form, World Tendency and Character Tendency, Demon's Souls Usage, Magic Guide, Weapons Guide, Weapons Upgrades, Armor, Rings, Items, Enemies, Crystal Lizards, Quirks & Tricks, Trophy Guide, Online Mode Guide, Leveling Guide, Walkthrough (Worlds 1-5), End Game, Perfect Run Walkthrough

There are a couple drawbacks to the strategy guide. Demon's Souls has been out for awhile in Japan, Korea and China. This means that there are already plenty of online resources that discuss just about everything provided in the paperback guide. The guide does not provide illustrated maps of each level, which would have been icing on the cake. This is especially true since the game does not have any sort of mapping system. It would have been nice if the guide were a bit fatter - more detailed descriptions - but sufficed to say, this is a small gripe considering that all items, weapons, rings, monsters, and NPCs got descriptions and pictures to go along with them. It's a blessing and a curse because there is always a want for more content, but an efficient guide is also desirable. This strategy guide is efficient to say the least.

Again, I recommend the "Deluxe Version" even though the only real difference is the strategy guide. If you have no need for a tangible guide then there are online resources that definitely match the content. However, the guide is organized, in full color, and there are pictures that go along with the walkthroughs, items, monsters and other aspects of the game. Most online walkthroughs/guides I have looked at do not provide these things, and the ones that do are not in the same league as the guide provided with the deluxe version.

In summary, the guide is NOT necessary, but it is useful and convenient. Hope this helps!
--------------------------------------------------

*Edit:A few additions to the review. It was brought to my attention that the cover of the guide, most noticeably the spine, fades easily.I found that both the spine and front cover have begun that process.

The information in the guide is still very good. However, after much use of the walkthrough I can honestly say that it's not as extensive as I initially thought it was.It covers the essentials for getting main items and tackling bosses, but it does not cover most items that can be found in each level - it does note which levels all items are located, but the walkthrough section skips over where to find them. The walkthrough also minimizes boss battles in some cases and I found myself deviating heavily from the boss guide.Again, it's still a very good guide overall, but do not expect it to have an answer for everything in the game.If you want to get the main, most powerful items, this guide is definitely for you.

PlayStation 3 Wireless Sixaxis Controller Review

PlayStation 3 Wireless Sixaxis Controller
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The PlayStation 3 controller has gotten a lot of press because of its lack of vibration. However, it is wireless, extremely light, and has tilt sensors in it. This seems a great trade-off during gameplay.

First, let's get through the "bad" that many people have gotten upset about. They took out the rumble controller from the PS3 controller. This was for legal reasons - a company which developed that rumble technology took issue with Sony using it. Some people feel it really affects gameplay not to have that rumbling.

I have to admit that I am VERY happy, personally, that the rumbling is gone. I always turned off the rumble in games where I could. I am on my computer pretty much 24 hours a day, and if I play a game with rumble on, it *kills* my wrists. If you're a rumble fan, this is a decision you'll have to make for yourself.

Now, to the good parts of the controller. First, they all come wireless for the PS3. I *love* love wireless. Wires cause huge clutter in our living room, with all our systems and equipment. You only have to plug the controller in to power it up. It's a regular USB power-up so you can use your iPod's plug (assuming you have an iPod) or plug it into your computer or XBox 360 or anything else with a USB on it. That is to say, you don't have to power it up from your PS3 if you don't want to for some reason.

Next, it is super light! I imagine this is because it doesn't have to hold the motors that cause rumbling. I really appreciate the lightness. You might not notice if you only play a game for an hour or two, but if you're doing marathon sessions of multiple hours, the weight of the controller really does begin to matter.

Just like the Wii controllers, this controller has a tilt sensor in it. It actually knows when you tilt and turn the controller, or shake it. Depending on the game, you can use those tilts to look around or to shake off an enemy. That really gives you much more interactivity with the game, much more than button pushing.

The general controller shape is exactly the same as the PS2 controller. You have a pair of shoulder buttons on each side, two joysticks, four buttons on the right and four directional buttons on the left. There's a PS button in the center, just like there's an XBox button in the middle of the Xbox 360 controller. Also, there are four lights on the unit, to let you know if this controller is #1, #2, #3 or #4 if you are playing multi-player games.

The center PS button lets you turn the unit on and off, which is great if your console is off in a shelf or corner of the room.

In general, I think they did a great job with the PS3 basic controllers. The main console sale both for 20 and 60 comes only with one controller - so be sure to get yourself a second one!

Razer BlackWidow Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Full Retail US Layout Review

Razer BlackWidow Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Full Retail US Layout
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this keyboard direct from Razer since you can't seem to get it anywhere else at the moment.

The Razer Blackwidow is definitely quite different from any standard keyboard I had previously used. The keyboard I was using previously was the Razer Tarantula, which is Razer's first gaming keyboard. Compared to the Tarantula, the keys are much more tactile and make a significant noise when pressed, but quite honestly I enjoy it. Overall, it is a breeze to type on as long as you are not coming from a laptop. In that case, you may need some time to adjust to the way the keys feel when depressed.

Things I enjoy:
-Tactile feel
-Keyboard is hefty and feels like it will never break.
-Keys are easy to depress and really prevents mistypes.
-Keyboard size is much more portable for LAN's than other gaming keyboards i've seen.
-On-the-fly macros could come in handy, I just don't have a use for them yet.

My only gripes with the keyboard so far are:
-Compared to the Razer Tarantula, this keyboard has much smaller keys. This is more of an adjustment I must make on my part though.
-Razer advertised the MX Blue keyswitches as having a very small actuation distance which is true. But seeing as I depress the key all the way down in most cases, this doesn't make me any faster while gaming. If fact I almost seem slower, since I cannot press the keys as fast since it travels. I'm told thought that with practice you can learn to double tab keys without the need to fully reset the key, so I may just need a new technique.

Overall, I am rating this a 4 out of 5 with some room to grow. The keyboard feels great albeit different, there are no accidental button presses like some mechanicals, and Razer did a nice job building this product. It may just take a little time to adjust to the feel of the keys before i'm back to my A-game. For the price though, I highly recommend this for anyone looking to delve into mechanical keyboards.

This camera is available in two packages - this is the basic package and comes with the Xbox 360 Live Vision Camera, a headset that you probably already have, and a code redeemable on the Xbox Live Marketplace for the game UNO (which supports the camera in online play) and also 1 month of Xbox Live Gold service.

Note that the official press releases mentioned the game Totemball being included. It is NOT included, but you can now download it for free from the Xbox Live Marketplace.

The camera itself is very nice. It's very small and has a focus ring on the front. The quality of video and still pictures is great. It's easy to install, you just plug it into your Xbox in the front or back USB port and you're good to go. You can also use it as a regular webcam with your PC. It currently does not work with Macs but Mac support is promised soon from Microsoft as their press release claims Mac support.

Overall it's a nice little piece of equipment. It just depends on whether you want a webcam or not! Video chat is a nice feature if you have friends or family with an Xbox 360. Also, future games will support mapping your face onto your on-screen character which will be fun. Games like Totemball will be played by actually moving your arms and body around in front of the camera. So it does open up a lot of opportunities for new experiences with your Xbox.

Parents worried about kids: when playing camera-enabled games you will see other people's video whether you have the camera or not, so buying this camera doesn't make any difference to what they will see. You can disable looking at other people's video for all the games.

Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness with Custom GameCube Skin Review

Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness with Custom GameCube Skin

A fun trip back to the land of Orre with some familiar faces and some new friends. If you liked Colosseum, you will find the upgrades in this game to be a godsend.I still don't enjoy the GameCube versions as much as the GBA ones, but everything that I WISHED I could do in Colosseum can be done in XD.

The main differences are as follows:

1.What we all wished for has happened .. you can SAVE the game anywhere, anytime, as often as you like! This was by far the most annoying thing that I discovered when I first bought Colosseum.I was so used to saving my game before any major battle, or before trying to catch a "one-shot-only" Pokemon. With XD, you no longer have to seek out a PokeCenter or a computer to save the game. This makes all the difference in the world.I am no longer "afraid" of what's lurking around the corner because I can always start over if I wasn't ready for what was lurking in the darkness! LOL

2.You can catch WILD POKEMON in XD.Another thing that I could never get used to in Colosseum. In XD you are shown three "Poke Spots" where you leave treats (bait) for wild Pokemon. You have a Pokemon-detector that goes off if any wild Pokemon are munching your treats at a Poke Spot.Again, with the new "save feature", you can save the game and THEN go hunting. If you kill the wild Pokemon by accident, just restart.

3.There is a cool new Purification machine so you can purify up to NINE pokemon at the same time.Very much a time saver. No more dragging around Pokemon that you never intend to use just to open up their hearts.

4.New story line. Some old towns, some new towns but an interesting storyline throughout.

5.Graphics.Graphics are noticibly better in XD.

6.Shadow Moves.Instead of one shadow move, all shadow pokemon automatically come with two. There are many possible shadow moves .. all with different strengths and effects.Much more interesting.

7.New Pokemon. There are (at least) two new Pokemon. You can't catch them, but I think their appearance foreshadows a new batch of Pokemon which will probably be available in the next version of the game.

All in all, much better than Colosseum.Just adding a few simple changes (most notably the "save feature") brings a whole new enjoyment to an older game.Pokemaniacs will not be disappointed with this purchase.

NOTE:As I have suggested in my other reviews, buy the NINTENDO POWER guide instead of the Prima guide.MUCH more complete.

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Collector's Edition (Bundled with Official Hat and 2 Strategy Guides) Review

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Collector's Edition
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Before I start, I just want to say that this IS real. I was kind of skeptical because of the price and wasn't sure if this was used, the real collectors edition, etc.

THIS IS REAL. The cd-key is legit and you will get the in-game pet ("frosty") as well as the "feats of strength" achievement.

The two strategy guides aren't the larger sized editions, they're the ones like from the WOW battle chest. But they're still useful and have, most importantly, some pretty pictures (Mainly in the Burning Crusade guide, not the original). The hat is also very good, it has this flex fit which is kind of nice for people with larger heads (like mine - I have trouble wearing most hats)

Ok now onto everything else, this is VERY large. I was really surprised with how big the collectors edition actually is. It's about 10 1/2" x 12" x 3". But when I opened it and pulled out the contents I was so surprised with the quality, and the contents of this that I'm now planning on purchasing the next expansion, cataclysm, in the collectors edition. This came with some trading cards for the trading card game, it came with the behind the scenes dvd, the art of world of warcraft book (Which is very large as well, it's not a small little book), the soundtrack cd, a mousepad of northerend, a free 10-day trial cdkey for a friend and of course the actual game itself.

The behind the scenes dvd is fantastic, they show you a lot of the work that went into it, albeit, not as much detail as I personally would've liked but then again, I don't think most people would like to listen to how someone rig's the characters for animations, or how their personal workflows for things, it's a nice overview of the whole process, from concept, to model, to animation and the final product. There's also some extras, like trailers from diablo3, starcraft2, trailers from the patches in wow... There's also a little quiz in the dvd testing your "wow" knowledge.

The game, well it's pretty much just useful for the cdkey to activate on [...] for me.

The soundtrack is awesome, there's some great music here and it's great just being able to listen to it in it's purest form, without having to deal with the hussle and bussle of wow. Even if you dont like wow, or even pay attention to the music, there's still some great scores in here that are absolutely beautiful.

The mousepad is nice, it's pretty generic except it has a picture of northerend on the front, it's a larger mouse pad. But that's about it, nice quality, but nothing really jaw dropping or super exciting.

The trading cards are ok, I don't really use them but there's 2 packs of cards in there. But they're cool, I might use them sometime. Who knows.

The art book is awesome, it's got a lot of great, high quality art from the making of wotlk. All in all, I was very surprised and very pleased with this. Not only did I get everything (And more!) that I wanted but I got it for a great price as well. I can't wait to see what's in the next collectors edition..

ATI Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition Video Card 100-435058 Review

ATI Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition Video Card 100-435058
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was looking to purchase a replacement for the ATI Radeon 9700 that my Apple G4 came equipped with. I had tried going with a safe and cheaper route with the 9200, that I still believed would function properly, but this was an obviously inferior card that was highly noticeable on crashes and freezes with motion graphic programs and applications with timelines such as Flash, After Effects and even iMovie.

After speaking to some techs at ATI, they recommended the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition, which aside from an extra power cable to connect inside the machine, was pretty much the same as my previous 9700 if not better. Placing the card in was easy and results were instant.

Definitely a worthwhile card that will not let you down with motion graphic intensive programs. A great buy.

Super Bomberman 2 Review

Super Bomberman 2
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Super Bomberman 2 can be played by up to four players (if you have the peripheral for the SNES that allows you to do that). There is a one-player adventure game in which you control Bomberman, and try to make your way through several different levels.
In this one-player adventure, Bomberman uses bombs as his main weapon. The levels consist of many different environments such as fire levels, ones set in outer space, castle stages, and many more.In each level, Bomberman must use bombs in order to do whatever needs to be done to open the door that leads to the next and more challenging level. In some levels, you must destroy all of the enemies that are on the screen, and in others, you might have to do things such as light up all the lights, or avoid a furnace's fire in order to reach the next level.
You can find many different powerups and weapons that Bomberman can use. There are basic bombs, power bombs, and even remote controlled bombs (you get to decide when the bomb goes off).Even more, there are many powerups that make the bombs more controllable, or that can help Bomberman out tremendously. There are roller skates for extra speed, fire icons for larger bomb blasts, gloves for picking up and throwing bombs, kick, which allows Bomberman to kick the bombs across the screen, and more.
Bomberman will need to find as many bombs and powerups as he can, because at the end of each world, there is a challenging boss that is waiting to turn Bomberman into a dead man.
To be honest, the one-player adventure game that I just explained in Super Bomberman 2, is fun, but it is NOT the best thing about the game. What sets Super Bomberman 2 apart from most other Super Nintendo games, is its classic multiplayer mode. You can play up to four players simultaneously, which can add up to a lot of trash talking.Or, if you want, you can play by yourself against three computer-controlled players.
In this multiplayer mode of Super Bomberman 2, you and a friend or two or three, can duke it out in any of 10 different multiplayer levels. The idea is to use a bomb and blow up all of your opponents. The last person standing will be the winner. If you and your friends choose to, you can choose to play either with the time on or off.If you play with the time on, then when the timer reaches a certain time, the maze will start closing in, providing an even greater challenge.
Just like the single-player adventure game, there are weapons and powerups waiting to be found in these multiplayer stages. There are fire powerups, skates, gloves, kick icons, diseases (the skull icons) that can be good or bad, and more.Once somebody gets a win, that player will earn a trophy. The first player to earn a certain number of trophies (3 on default), will be pronounced the champion, and will then be able to have a chance to play a sort of bonus.
The 10 multiplayer levels are all a lot different from each other. There is a basic one that just has a bunch of blocks, one with transporters that will transport players to the other side of the screen, one full of mushrooms that can be jumped on, a slippery ice level, one with a conveyor belt, and more.
To make a long story full of nostalgia short, let me just put it like this.Super Bomberman 2 is one of the best multiplayer games that have ever been made, or that will ever be made, for any system. If you want a great game that you can have fun playing with your friends, brothers, etc., I definitely recommend getting Super Bomberman 2.The one-player adventure game is challenging and it's a lot of fun too.So if you get this game, you'll have yourself a good one-player game, and a GREAT 2-4 player game.

Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires Review

Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires
Average Reviews:

Gameplay - 4/5
As any DW fan will notice, dw6 replaced the old combo system with the new Renbu system. You can essentially mash square and attack forever. They changed it a little from DW6, since now Renbu doesn;'t decrease overtime, and is dependant on weapon level. Also, the numerous Imbueings and Special Attacks you can stick onto a weapon add another level of depth entirely, and I perfer this to random drops any day. The combat styles range from narrow, low-body count motions to wide area base-clearing sweeps, allowing custom officers to be made as anything from a duelist to a master of one against many.

Graphics - 3/5
I noticed right off that the quality of peons had decreased from DW6. The officer quality remains the same. I noticed later that this was to cram more characters into every level. For instance, I struggled to get 500KO in DW5E before any battle ended, but here I average 1200 or so.

Sound - 3/5
I enjoy the empires feature to select your own BGM from almost any song from a previous DW game. However, the horrible Enlgish voices return yet again, making you wish for the Japanese voice option, or making you glad to set voice volume to 0.

Replayability - 3/5
Replayability is the highest of any DW to date for me. Largely due to the initially frustrating fact that officer stats do NOT carry over from one play through to the next. Instead, you get clear points, which can be used to allow carry over of weapons, horses, and starting off with bonus gold or items. Once I played through twice, I found this enhances the raplayability for me. Also, there are numerous pieces of edit officer clothes to unlock by completing missions and playthroughs.

Overall - 4/5
My favorite DW title to date. Best edit officer feature in my opinion. Love it!
