Xbox 360 Play & Charge Kit with Black Controller Review

Xbox 360 Play & Charge Kit with Black Controller
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
You get a controller and a charging unit bundled together here.

As far as the Play and Charge Kit is concerned...

This is a must have with your 360 and a controller.

You can plug it in via USB to your Xbox 360 and charge the included battery pack while you play your game.

You can also remove your battery pack, and plug the cable directly to your 360 for wired gaming (so your controller won't shut off while you are in the middle of that hired driver Forza race.

This charges via any USB port on your 360, your computer, your cable box, or your dog (if he has included USB hub).

I recommend buying one of these, then buying the Quick Charge Kit.Then you'll have 2 battery packs, the quick charge dock, and a USB charge cable.

As far as the controller is concerned, it's a great color, and is your typical xbox 360 controller otherwise.Great ergonomics and fits in your color scheme whether you have the black or white console.

PlayStation 3 Wireless Sixaxis Controller Review

PlayStation 3 Wireless Sixaxis Controller
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The PlayStation 3 controller has gotten a lot of press because of its lack of vibration. However, it is wireless, extremely light, and has tilt sensors in it. This seems a great trade-off during gameplay.

First, let's get through the "bad" that many people have gotten upset about. They took out the rumble controller from the PS3 controller. This was for legal reasons - a company which developed that rumble technology took issue with Sony using it. Some people feel it really affects gameplay not to have that rumbling.

I have to admit that I am VERY happy, personally, that the rumbling is gone. I always turned off the rumble in games where I could. I am on my computer pretty much 24 hours a day, and if I play a game with rumble on, it *kills* my wrists. If you're a rumble fan, this is a decision you'll have to make for yourself.

Now, to the good parts of the controller. First, they all come wireless for the PS3. I *love* love wireless. Wires cause huge clutter in our living room, with all our systems and equipment. You only have to plug the controller in to power it up. It's a regular USB power-up so you can use your iPod's plug (assuming you have an iPod) or plug it into your computer or XBox 360 or anything else with a USB on it. That is to say, you don't have to power it up from your PS3 if you don't want to for some reason.

Next, it is super light! I imagine this is because it doesn't have to hold the motors that cause rumbling. I really appreciate the lightness. You might not notice if you only play a game for an hour or two, but if you're doing marathon sessions of multiple hours, the weight of the controller really does begin to matter.

Just like the Wii controllers, this controller has a tilt sensor in it. It actually knows when you tilt and turn the controller, or shake it. Depending on the game, you can use those tilts to look around or to shake off an enemy. That really gives you much more interactivity with the game, much more than button pushing.

The general controller shape is exactly the same as the PS2 controller. You have a pair of shoulder buttons on each side, two joysticks, four buttons on the right and four directional buttons on the left. There's a PS button in the center, just like there's an XBox button in the middle of the Xbox 360 controller. Also, there are four lights on the unit, to let you know if this controller is #1, #2, #3 or #4 if you are playing multi-player games.

The center PS button lets you turn the unit on and off, which is great if your console is off in a shelf or corner of the room.

In general, I think they did a great job with the PS3 basic controllers. The main console sale both for 20 and 60 comes only with one controller - so be sure to get yourself a second one!

Logitech PS3 / PS2 Wireless Guitar Controller Review

Logitech PS3 / PS2 Wireless Guitar Controller
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This version is a vast improvement on the first edition (red). The physical manufacturing and styling have slightly different elements that add up to a much greater guitar.

I bought 6 of the red editions and didn't get one that was acceptable. The major problem was that the neck experienced a lot of stress during play. The new version corrects this problem by using a tongue and groove design. This one is built to last.

Additionally, the coloring is slightly different for this version. Obviously, the guitar is black. The faceplate is also black. And, not immediately noticeable, the neck is a darker wood. The overall effect is a much sleeker style.

As far as play goes, the guitar is a dream to hold and use. The buttons are solid, easy to find without looking, and fast. The strum bar is actually a light activated device - rather than mechanical. The lack of mechanical parts means it will last for a long time.

The guitar works fine with Rock Band 2. It lacks the wammy style selector - but, this is no great loss. The timing matches RB guitars - so no worries there if you mix guitars.

The guitar has a star-power button that I find works better than swinging the guitar up to activate special powers. The other buttons are hidden in the design and don't get hit on accident during play.

Many have complained about the lack of Bluetooth. Not a big deal to me. The included dongle works fine. The wireless is accurate and the batteries last a long time.

My only reservation with the guitar is the weight. It gets heavy after a few sets - just like a real guitar. So, younger players may have some trouble.

Overall, it is a great addition to your playing experience. I recommend this version over the original.

This device works the same as all previous Xbox 360 controllers only with more attractive graphics on the front. Only die hard Halo fans need apply. What do you get for an extra $10? just the pretty looks and a little plastic army man (Okay, it is Spartan 117). I was disappointed that it did not come with the rechargeable battery for the extra money which is the reason for the lower review however, it is still a rock solid product and is recommended for the fanboy in us all.

Gamecube Wavebird Wireless Controller Grey, Silver, Compatible with Wii Review

Gamecube Wavebird Wireless Controller Grey, Silver, Compatible with Wii
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The standard GameCube controller is perfect except for one thing: the cord is too short. All video game manuals warn against sitting too close to the TV, but you HAVE to sit close when your controller's cord is less than six feet long. The folks at Nintendo could have addressed this issue by offering some type of extension cord, but that would have inevitably led to more problems...like tangles and tripping accidents.Instead, they have created the innovative WaveBird WIRELESS controller. And this baby works like magic! Now you can sit up to twenty feet away from the screen without being tethered to your `Cube.Just plug the little receiver thingamajig into the front of the console, set it to one of 16 channels, set the controller to the same channel, turn it on and play till your thumbs go numb. The WaveBird has the same ultra-comfortable feel of the regular controller, with no lag whatsoever in button response time.Regrettably, the `Bird lacks the popular "rumble" feature of its corded counterpart.Including the rumble would presumably have caused the required 2 AA batteries (included) to wear out too quickly.I happen to like the rumble, but I have found that it sometimes hampers my gameplay. Not having the option to use it at all is somewhat of a drawback, but not enough to outweigh the enormous advantage of being able to play cord free.I will say that I think it's unfortunate that Nintendo currently only makes the WaveBird in ONE color: a boring pale gray (almost white). If you wanted to use four `Birds at once, it could get confusing.Nevertheless, I highly recommend this controller to every GameCube owner. And if they ever decide to make it available in "spice," I just might buy another one.

Wouldn't it be nice to play games without a cord stretching across yourliving-room floor, especially if you have little kids or large dogs in yourhousehold? Nintendo's Wave Bird isn't the first wireless controller ever broughtto market, but it's a whole lot better than what came before. You may remember abrief fad a few years ago with spotty infrared devices. These units failedbecause they were a lot heavier than standard controllers, and also because theyrequired a direct line of sight between the controller and the infraredreceiver. The Wave Bird is much lighter (it weighs a bit more than a regularcontroller) and uses radio frequency signals for reliable game control atdistances of up to 20 feet. Unless your playing on a stadium-size TV screen, that should be more than enough. The unit will last for about 100 hours of useon just two AA batteries and has 16 channel frequencies, so you'll easily beable to hook up four controllers without interference.

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Review

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The gameplay is GHIII is fantastic (The Boss Battles in career mode are a little silly, but they are thankfully optional). The track list is awesome and the songs are extremely well implemented and fun to play.

The wireless controller included in this PS2 bundle, however, is a big step backwards from the wired SG controllers bundled with GH I and II. I have experienced several random drops in response from the green and yellow buttons (not due to proximity from the receiver, I was less than four feet from the console). The buttons just stopped working. Also, the whammy bar is much closer to the strum bar, and my fingers on my strumming hand kept getting caught in it. Finally, the tilt sensor on my controller only worked intermittently, which was doubly frustrating because they moved to start and pause buttons directly behind the whammy bar, so the alternate method of triggering "Star Power" (hitting the start button) is almost impossible because you have to take your strumming hand off of the strum bar and bring it up and over the whammy bar. I'm returning the bundle and buying the stand-alone GHIII game, and I'm ordering a wired GH2-style controller directly from Red Octane.

Logitech PlayStation 2 Cordless Action Controller Review

Logitech PlayStation 2 Cordless Action Controller

One thing I always hated about game consoles was the constant tripping over tangled wires. Wires intersecting each other, making a mess of things.
Enter the Logitech Cordless Action Controller!! This is without a doubt one of the best controllers I've ever used! The controllers is very well made. The feel of it is very natural in your hands, though slightly different than the original PS2 Dual Shock. There's a nice satin like finish that prevents alot of dirt from your hands from making the controller too slippery. There is literally no notciable lag or delay in the controller's operation. The controllers 2.4 ghz signal ensures that you won't miss any of the action. Every function of the original is reproduced faithfully. Installation is extremely simple. Plug the reciever into your PS2's controller port and simpley press the action button to get a signal. There is also a button on the reciever to make the connection if needed. The battery life (the controller takes two AA batterys) is approximatley 300 hours without the vibration mode and 50 hours with the vibration mode on. A small sacrifice to make for a great product such as this.
I really can't say enough good things about this product. It's great if you have small children in the house especially. No more worrying if they are going to trip and drag the console across the room. In fact this is such a great controller I'm considering buying a second!

I am a long-time Playstation owner, who recently gave in and bought a GameCube system for my Pokemon-obsessed son.We decided that since the GameCube has excellent 4 player titles, we would bite the bullet and buy 4 WaveBird controllers and focus on the multiplayer titles only. This has been an excellent move.I have them setup on channels 1-6-11-16 and they all play well together. I have big hands and I like the feel of the controller and I like the heft of it.It has a definite feel of quality and I like the way the sticks and buttons are setup on the WaveBird. To address previous reviewers issues, we have 2.4 GHz phones and WiFi and have not seen any interference issues. The previous reviewer who was having issues with interference with his remote is likely the exception to the rule, since most people do not have RF remotes, but the standard infrared variety. We have been using the controllers for about 2 weeks now without a glitch and I anticipate they will stand the test of time.My biggest rave for these controllers is the ease in which they can be pulled out of the storage bin and then put back away, when we are done with them.Oh yeah, and it's nice to have my floor back (e.g. not having to worry about tripping over cables when crossing it).The reason that I called this review "perfect enough" is that the main (and really only) complaint from some reviewers is that there is no rumble feature.I say to those who want the rumble feature when playing, simply revert to your corded controller for that particular game! The system comes with one so use it!I'd rather have the extended battery life and the rumble feature in a lot of games ends up being more of an annoyance than a help.

This is a good looking controller, with some improvements over the original design. A lot of people are complaining about the lack of color on the a,b,x,y buttons, but I don't need them to have color anyway.

I like the new texture of the controller. It isn't a slippery surface and has a little tackier/rougher feel. Makes it easier to hold onto if your hands sweat. I also like that they added a bit of resistance to the thumbsticks. This should also help fix the problem of the thumbsticks getting "floaty" after some use. The trigger buttons also now have a curve, but doesn't really have an impact on use or feel for me, but okay design.

On to the directional pad. It still sucks. It is neat that you can convert it to a raised plus shape or more of a flat shape, but the underlying problem is still there. The d-pad is still on top of a disk, which makes it imprecise. I was trying to enter character names last night and had to use the thumbstick because the d-pad is so inaccurate. I would love it if they went to the ps3 style d-pad that is just four digital buttons instead of basically an analog directional pad.

Gave it 4 stars, would have been 5 if they fixed the d-pad.

Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows Review

Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've owned the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows device for about a week, and the only thing I am unhappy about is that I waited so long to buy this controller.

Combined with Xpadder, a free program that lets you emulate key presses and mouse movements directly from the controller (google the program), the 360 controller has become a great way to websurf, play games (e.g. Gears of War, Resident Evil 4), and even control media applications such as Cyberlink PowerDVD.If you don't want to bother programming the Xpadder software yourself, you can download predefined profiles for each of your programs and modify them as you see fit.The range of the controller is sufficient for me, but I have a pretty small apartment :-)I do not know how long the batteries will last and I am considering getting some kind of rechargeable setup.I've run this controller on both Windows XP and Windows Vista without any bugs or other problems.

Overall, I rate this product a 4.5/5.0 stars. The only modification I would make to the controller is to disable it's 'auto-off' feature that shuts down the controller automatically after around 10 - 15 minutes of disuse. When you are reading a web page for a long period of time or watching a movie, having to hit the 'on' button on the center of the pad before you can use the controller again is a minor annoyance. However, for most people who will use this controller primarily for gaming, this is not a problem at all and is instead a battery preserving feature, thus the deduction of only 0.5 stars.

I highly recommend this product.

Xbox 360 Wireless Controller Review

Xbox 360 Wireless Controller
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this black wireless controller so I could have another wireless controller.Be advised when reading reviews on this product that it appears some people are reviewing the Xbox 360 Silver Controller and Play & Charge Kit, which is a special controller that is different (and more expensive as of this writing) than the black controller I am reviewing. This controller does NOT have any chrome items on it (other than the usual Xbox Guide button), nor does it have any upgrades to the D-pad.

As far as the controller itself, I didn't notice any structural difference between this controller and my old white controller that came with my Pro 20GB Xbox 360 several years ago.I did notice, however, that this controller properly charges my Play & Charge Kit where my old one did not.Prior to buying this controller, my Play & Charge kit would always show the red light while recharging.Since the recharging appeared to work anyway, I didn't think much of it (especially after calling Microsoft and being informed that the warranty on accessories is only 90 days, though that was in 2008).Since I assumed that the battery was at fault the whole time, I was surprised to find out that this controller charged the battery and (correctly) showed a green light when charging was complete.

Though it did not appear to be a structural change to the controller, I had somewhat forgotten (or not realized?) how much wear my controller has taken over the four years (give or take) since I got my console. The new controller gives me a bit more precision in games, especially with the right stick and the pushing of the sticks (for activities like sprinting). The tactility of the sticks (with little raised lines for grip) were a nice reminder of what my controller seemed to have at one time.

This was a satisfying purchase for functionality and the nice sleek look of black.I should also note that while the description of the item is "Glossy Black," this controller isn't really what I would call glossy like you would call the bezel of an LCD monitor or clear coat on a car.It gives off very little gloss in my opinion, which is fine by me.
