SimAnt Review

I can't believe how many addle-brained nitwits have written negative reviews here. This is one of the most inventive, open-ended, and rewarding games I've EVER seen, and this is a guy who's played his fair share of video games, both console and PC.There's so much to do with this that you can literally entertain yourself for days on end with it.Heck, you can even play a special "Experimental Mode" if you like, create a sprawling colony of thriving, successful black or red ants, and then annihilate them with whatever sick, twisted device of mayhem you choose, whether it be a spray can, a legion of spiders, or a swarm of enemy ants.BWUAHAHAHA!!!

But even beyond the sadistic element to this, this game is wonderfully intriguing on every level. You get to create your own society as an ant, building up your family, helping them succeed, deciding on the behavior and caste of your colony to find the best formula, and conquering whatever foes may try to interfere with your plans for complete domination of the back yard!My description here doesn't even do it justice.Just PLEASE, do yourself a favor and check this one out.If you've got some neurons cracking up there, you'll get into this, big time.

SimCity 4: Rush Hour Expansion Pack Review

SimCity 4: Rush Hour Expansion Pack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I love Rush Hour!
In many ways Sim City gets a whole new feel with Rush Hour. It is not only the much talked about U-drive-it feature, a new building set, or a few more transportation options - quite a lot of smaller changes were made that tremendously add to the gameplay!
First of all, the game runs a lot faster now on my computer(Yipee!).
Then I especially like the changes to the traffic simulation engine. Now you can see how and from where sims get to a building. Not only gives this more transparency to what is actually going on, it also gives the player a lot of feedback. Plus: the traffic simulation makes more sense now (sims now use the fastest instead of the shortest route - so your highways are no longer unused if the onramp is a few blocks away). So cool: now you see trucks clog the roads in industrial areas whereas residential suburban roads are packed with vans and SUVs.
Maxis also added different difficulty levels as well as new tutorials. If you play on easy you no longer need to spend 90% of your time on super-micromanagement tasks like adjusting the number of teachers in every school.
Many people think the U-drive-it feature is purely hype. Well, it is not THAT special. However, after an a while of laying out zones and roads it is always fun to just click on a mission and drive around the city in a police car with sirens on, pushing other cars off the road.
I heard somebody say he feels that Rush Hour breathes a lot more life into his city. And I totally agree. Now you see car accidents on big crossings, you do see trains (or the fancy monorail) bring in commuters from the suburbs in morning and evening hours. In many ways the city just feels more real and alive now.
Sim City with Rush Hour must be the most complex game ever - the sheer detail of what is simulated is breathtaking. And it is also a lot of fun. Intelligent and entertaining! Let's be honest: many things like avenues should have been included in the original game already. Now, with RH, Maxis adds so much to the game that it is hard to complain. I hope we'll see many more expansions like RH.
P.S.: no, i am not paid by Maxis, I am just a happy fan ;)

SimCity 3000 Unlimited Review

SimCity 3000 Unlimited

For those who don't have SimCity 3000 already, SimCity 3000 Unlimited is the best way to get into the game. The game is nearly identical to the smash hit of 1999.All the same playability, the same city buildingchallenges, etc.
For those who already own SimCity 3000, there are anumber of new options that could make it worthwhile to upgrade. In fact, when you install Unlimited on a computer that already has the original3000, you get the option to transfer over files (like all your old cities). It then even does the uninstall of the old product for you (very nice). Granted, Unlimited does chew up a bit more disk space so you should makesure you have room to spare for the new version.
I'd also suggest you tryto get in while the rebate is going on.It will get you back $10 on theprice of Unlimited. Then you won't feel so bad spending money on a gameyou basically already have. Then do what I did: give your old copy ofSimCity 3000 to a family member to get them hooked on the game.

The Sims 2 Special DVD Edition Review

The Sims 2 Special DVD Edition
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Well, after two days of owning Sims 2 I think that I have gotten enough play time in to write a comprehensive review.(...)

Alright, on to the review.I have both positive and negative things to say about Sims 2.Sorry, this is probably going to be a long review.

POSITIVE:

*Maxis has thrown a bit of Sim City into the mix.You can either play one of the pre-created neighborhoods or you can start from scratch. This option is fantastic! You can choose the layout, build houses or place houses already built onto the lots.No more wondering if you already have a house at lot #5 before downlaoding because you can place the house ANYWHERE you want!

*While playing the game you can connect to Maxis (if you have internet connection) and dowload new Maxis created items directly into the game.

*The Wants and Fears addition to Sims 2 is alot of fun.Even if they tend to get repetitive.

*It's alot easier for your Sims to Socialize in Sims 2.Now they will receive telephone calls from people who just want to talk, they can chat online and send and receive e-mails.Plus your Sims will sometimes bring people home with them from work or school.AND you can now socialize with (and even marry) what were previously non-interactive character like cashiers, the maid, and the paper deliverer.

*The Sims now have days off from work and vacation days.Needless to say, this creates alot more free time for your Sims to concentrate on other things.

*You can distinguish between family members and roommates. So no more awkward "Flowers in the Attic" moments.

*I haven't actually built a house but I love having the option of building more than 2 floors.Plus you can now shape the roof for more realistic and more luxurious houses.

*You can choose from a whole outfit or you can mix and match tops and bottoms. And with a mirror you can change the color and cut of your Sims hair and add and remove make-up and facial hair.

*Some reviewers were discussing the load time of Sims 2.I am running it on a Compaq Presario X1000 Notebook computer and so far the game has not crashed on me once.Furthermore, I haven't had any problems (crosses fingers) with the load times.I suppose the true test will be after I begin adding more objects, clothing, and genetics to the game.

*I was happy to see that you can still create community lots.Right now it's limited to basically parks, grocery stores, and clothing botiques but I'm sure restaurants and such will be coming with an expansion pack.

*Having your Sims age is a great addition to the game.Plus children now have alot more functions. They won't just stand around all day with their stupid "Ha-ha Who-who" and annoy the crap out of you (experienced Simmers know what I'm talking about).Ah yes, and teenagers can now get jobs!No free rides for for anyone anymore!

*The Sims act alot more natural in Sims 2.Like if one Sims is reading a book, they will look up if someone sits next to them, sometimes even talk to them.Their actions are much more fluid and natural and less robotic. In general, the Sims act alot more like real people than in the original Sims (it's especially noticable with the children).

*There are now little multiple choice scenarios that your Sims will experience.Your Sim will be given two or three choices and depending on which option you choose the outcome can be positive or negative. You could, for instance, be promoted for the choice you make or lose an entire day's worth of pay (These are just a couple I have personally experienced).

NEGATIVE:

*Creating family relationships isn't as liberal as I was expecting it to be.For instance, if you have an Adult Sim and a Teenage Sim living in a household, the Teenage Sim HAS to be the child of the Adult Sim.This was a problem for a family I was trying to create where a Teenage Sim lived with her Aunt.I haven't tested it yet, but it might be possible to do this the long way (create two sisters and a teenage child and whack the mother).I suppose it would just be easier if you could create them from the start.Same thing I noticed with an elderly couple whom I wanted to have an adult son and a teenage son.The only way to make the family possible was to make the teenager the son of the adult son :(But still, I'm thankful you can distinguish whether your Sims are roomies or siblings. It spares those awkward moments when your Sibling Sims start flirting withor making out with each other (Eww)

*The Sims age really fast!Luckily there's a cheat code you can use to turn off the aging process.

*Furnishings available in the game seem really limited and eventhough you can pick and choose from a variety of colors, nothing seems to match.Same thing with clothing. It seems like there's just like 10 outfits in 10 different colors.I'm sure Maxis is leaving this open for downloadables and expansion packs.

*Not all the modifying options available in Sims 2 Body Shop are actually available in the game when creating families. So I would suggest creating the faces for your families in Body Shop before playing the game and then they will be automatically added as a head choice in the game.

*For the most part, I am enjoying the 3D graphics. It took me awhile to get adjusted to the zoom, but now it's alot easier. The only problem I have is that some household items (like refridgerators and windows) don't go invisible while zooming past them and they can sometimes block your view. It's not really a big issue though.

So these are a few of my first impressions of The Sims 2.Perhaps I will write another review when I have gotten more play time in, but so far I am not disappointed one bit with my purchase. So, if you are a fan of the Sims or have just been wanting to check out what the buzz was all about, I would highly recommend adding Sims 2 to your collection.

If you have Railroad Tycoon Gold, there is no need to buy this one. There isn't anything new except for a few new maps. That was disapointing to me.But if you have neither of the previous Railroad Tycoons, this game is by far the most entertaining game I own.
If you like economic type games, one that tests your skills in owning your own business, then this is the game for you.
Also, the stock market effect in this game is awesome.Very good game and one that is addictive.
The graphics are excellent and the levels of difficulty are fairly easy to down right impossible.
If you do not have this game, I highly reccomend it!

The Sims Mega Deluxe (The Sims / House Party / Livin' Large / Hot Date) Review

The Sims Mega Deluxe
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If for some reason you don't own The Sims, now's your time to buy it.The Sims Deluxe, includes The Sims and three expansion packs - Livin' Large, House Party, and Hot Date. This is an excellent bargain because for about the same price two years ago, you could only buy The Sims. It's definitely worth the money and you should get a lot of fun out of this game like I did.
In case you didn't know, The Sims is a real-life simulator where you have the ability to create and run your own family of Sims and build and furnish the houses they live in.This game is a lot of fun because the gameplay is virtually limitness - you can do pretty much whatever you want with your Sims - you can give them a great job with tons of money, you can marry your neighbour and start a family, or you could purposely set your house on fire!Anything's possible on The Sims. The object of the game is to keep your Sims' happy, while entertaining yourself as well. There are many household items that you can buy and your Sims can interact with these in their house. Some items, such as refridgerators, showers, beds, and toilets, fill Sims' needs so that they can be in the best mood possible.Your Sims can work and bring home the bacon to buy new things for their home, or they can slack off and watch the unpaid bills roll in!
The expansion packs are as follows:
Livin' Large - The first ever Sims expansion comes with many new items, many decor styles, new skins for your Sims, new career possibilities and a whole lot more. This one's a must for any Sims player.
House Party - Your Sims have the ability to throw parties!Along with many cool new items and skins, your Sims can throw parties that can balloon, or bust, depending or what kind of a good host your Sim is!If your party is good enough, you might get a celebrity over to your Sims' house...
Hot Date - Your sims can finally leave their homes! The new "Downtown" area is a place where Sims can take their dates, eat, shop, or just chill.
All the expansion packs are highly worthwhile, and will extend the amount of things to do on The Sims. The only complaints I have are minor ones - The isometric graphics are a little outdated after 4 years, but they still provide the same fun experience. The sounds remain pretty much the same, except for some new music in House Party and Hot Date (The sim-language rap from House Party is great! (kind of...)
Although this game might not be for everyone, I still highly recommend that you try it out, who knows, it might be for you, it might not be for you, but if it is for you, you'll probably spend a lot of waking hours playing this! You can thank me later.

Power Rangers Ninja Storm Review

Power Rangers Ninja Storm
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
with Ninja Storm, THQ learned from past mistakes concerning the previous two GBA Ranger games (Time Force and Wild Force), and actually put together a fairly decent game. Unlike the previous two incarnations on GBA, Ninja Storm plays just like a sidescrolling 16 bit beat-em-up. A good comparison could be Final Fight. You can play through the game as the Wind Rangers, the Thunder Rangers or the Green Samurai Ranger. With the Wind or Thunder level paths, you can switch to any ranger by pressing 'select', this is good when you play through as the Wind Rangers, and need the Blue Ranger to walk on water. The Green Samurai level path is the most difficult, yet he is the strongest of the Rangers, so it's an even trade. The show's fans will be very disappointed to find that this game was put together to correspond with the first few episodes of Ninja Storm, and due to that you won't see the sheer coolness of newer villains like Vexacus or Shimazu. Also, Kapri and Mara are strangely absent from the game entirely. Instead, you'll face Terrormole, Flourabundacus, Choobo, Zurgane and finally Lothor himself. The game is quite straight-forward, and hardcore gamers will finish it in less than three hours if they play through all three level paths (like I did). The one big plus of the game are the revamped Zord battles. They are more strategic, and demand that you time certain button combinations when prompted in order to land a successful hit on your foe. In the Zord battles, the Zord and the enemy share one life bar, and the more hits one side lands successfully, the more that side's bar takes up the other. If the Zord successfully weakens the enemy, you will be prompted to activate your finishing move by holding down the 'R' shoulder button and timing a sepparate button combo. Overall, Ninja Storm is a riot to play through the first time, but the lack of all the villains and a far too easy difficulty really keep the game from being a true GBA action classic

The Sims Superstar Expansion Pack Review

The Sims Superstar Expansion Pack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Many reviews have already described all of the new interactions and items that come with this expansion pack, so I'll focus on some of the things that may not be mentioned that I would have wanted to know before buying it.
1. Overall I would say this expansion involves more work than the others. Becoming famous is an all consuming occupation leaving your Sims little time for anything else. Sims must spend countless hours in Studiotown.
2. The game cannot be saved while a Sim is in Studiotown (much like the downtown area of Hot Date). This is a problem if you experience frequent crashes with your game. I find I need to take my Sim home where I can save the game every time he/she has raised their fame score, so that I don't lose it because of a crash. This is time consuming.
3. Sims run out of energy very quickly in Studiotown so not much can be accomplished in each visit. (only one visit is allowed per day)
4. Sims need famous friends in order to become famous. I find it very difficult to make friends with these famous Sims, the friendship scores don't seem to increase as quickly as with regular Sims.
5. This one only applies if you have downloaded objects from online Sims sites: I have a user-created teleporter in my game, and it no longer works. The game crashes whenever I try to use it. This forces me to use the phone to invite other Sims over, leaving it up to chance rather than being able to import them at will. (Much harder to increase the friendship score this way). Teleporters worked with every other expansion pack, but not Superstar as of yet (hopefully someone will fix this).
I don't mean to point out only the negative aspects of the game, I do enjoy this game but am a little disappointed that it takes so much more work than I had expected. I do love all of the new interactions that are available, and like watching my Sims sing, act or model.I'm still looking forward to an obsessed fan following my famous Sim home. My Sims don't have a high enough fame score for that yet :) (Also, there aren't really 3 separate career paths, Sims access all of the items one at a time as their fame score increases, so they are essentially rock stars, actors and models).
Overall, if you love the Sims, you'll love this expansion pack as well. But be prepared to spend a lot of time trying to become famous.

Airline Tycoon Evolution Review

Airline Tycoon Evolution
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First off, if you are looking for a sequel to the orginal Airline Tycoon, you are looking at the wrong game. This is more like an addition, or "deluxe pack".There are only two addtional features in this game that were not included in the original.
You now have a security office where you can pay to secure your office, aircraft and laptop. In my experiences though, they don't do a very good job of protecting my office.
The other addition is the aircraft creation center.I enjoy this part of the game.I can go in there and design all sorts of aircraft to fit my needs...although I may not have the money to buy them at the time (unless I use the cheats). You can also download other peoples designs from the internet and upload your designs as well.
All the cheats and puzzles to the game are the *exact* same as the original game. This is why I do not consider it a sequel.
The graphics are the exact same. The same for the sounds.
Overall, this game is a good one to play.If you own the original, I would not suggest you buy this unless you are really wanting to design the planes. If you do not own the original then I suggest you buy this over the original.
Also, I run this just fine on Windows XP, Athlon 600 MHz, 128 MB RAM, Riva TNT 16 MB System.Above it does not list this program to be compatible with XP, but the side of the box lists Windows (TM) 98/Me/2000/XP
Hope this helps you all out there...

Capitalism 2 Review

Capitalism 2
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This title is less of a game than it is a tool for immersing yourself in a business environment. This is good because this was how it was advertised to me before I bought it.That said, it is very good at the latter, and fairly decent at the former.

The goal is relatively straightforward.Make money, hit some profit targets (or whatever the scenario asks for - could be cornering a market, achieving aggregate sales targets, etc), and succeed at capitalism.

The gameplay is very deep.Price setting, factory building (and floor planning, even), real estate, economic cycles, a slew of products to choose from, technology research, training investments, marketing, income statements and balance sheets for comparative analysis, stock market gyrations - if you can find it in the Wall Street Journal, chances are high it's in this game too. And, most features are realistic enough to give plausibility to the entire enterprise.I like the focus on total capital rather than just running a business with high sales levels - I think most people considering this title would agree that wealth and income streams are more important than simply being popular (and not rich).

The graphics are in between Sim City 2000 and 3000, which was the standard when it was released, and are fairly decent even today. They do not detract from gameplay.

The sound is not bad, either. The sound effects are quite nice - I like how they added touches like playing a clip of the trading room floor when you look at the stock market. The music...can be turned off, unless you like being in an elevator.

The replayability is where this game shines. This game has a mammoth store of scenarios, and ends with a scenario that encompasses all of the previous ones combined (I have put in 12 hours on this one scenario alone and still have not completed it, although it was mainly due to tediousness rather than difficulty - imagine cornering not just the auto market but all types of consumer and industrial markets from tires to toothpaste, along with all aspects of retailing, manufacturing, and commodity production).I found the challenge factor to be very near the top of strategy games in general, and very much enjoyed the complete non-linearity with which you could accomplish tasks and goals.

One caveat, which may further reveal the depth of the game: When you play this game, and put your all into it, you'll begin to wonder why you're not simply reading *real* market trends and income statements, and overseeing your *real* businesses and investments. That, more than anything else, made me put this game aside, and pick up the Wall Street Journal once more.Otherwise, a great business simulator, and fairly entertaining at that.

The Sims: Double Deluxe Review

The Sims: Double Deluxe
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
So you're not familiar with the Sims, eh? Let me summarize it for you quickly: An oddly addictive game in which gameplay centers on a normal 24/7 daily house life. You'll never find a game quite like it and it probably has the biggest mix of gamers you'll ever see, including people that normally don't touch PC games. Everyone from wild teenagers to shy grandmothers play this game. Because of its record sales, it also happens to claim the largest collection of pseudo-sequel expansions known to man. For those that purchasd the original Sims a few years ago and thought it would be their final purchase, EA insisted otherwise as at least five to seven expansions have been sold since that add new content and game mechanics. Now that the Sims 2 is quickly approaching, EA is scrambling to find new ways to package the original game and this is the best combo pack to date. The Double Deluxe version combines the original Sims, Living Large expansion and House Party expansion as well as a tiny bit of custom content not available on any expansion. It also includes the Sims Creator which allows you to customize your own custom sims in whatever sex, age, appearance and clothing you'd like.I admit, I haven't played all of the expansions but I didn't enjoy Hot Date or Vacation as they went a direction I didn't care for. Both of those expansions have new towns in which you can explore if you're into role-playing your sims but I prefer the house building and job advancement, which makes the Double Deluxe edition perfect for the casual Sims fan like me.If you're the patient type and know this game and all its expansions are for you, I'd wait a few months as all gazillion expansions in the Sims will soon be available in the same combo pack because of the game's age and the upcoming sequel.

The Sims Bustin' Out Review

The Sims Bustin' Out
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
A downfall of all the "Sims" games out for the PC is that they require TONS and tons of memory.Running out of memory on my PC and laptop, I had to do some "spring cleaning" and get rid of a few programs.I love all of the "Sims" games, but they just take up too much space.Well, there is a solution to that problem.
"The Sims: Bustin' Out" is now available for PS2, and I admit that I was a little doubtful at first.Nine out of ten times the graphics will never be better than the PC.Well, this is the rare instance where the PS2 version has better graphics than the PC.You get incredible zoom in functions that were very limited to merely clicking on the PC version while on the PS2 you can smoothly zoom in and out with the analog stick. The load time is ten times quicker than it ever was on the PC and the controls are more than adequate, although I must warn you that it does take some time to get used to.The longer you play, the quicker you will get used to the controls.
For those who aren't familiar with the "Sims" games, the premise is pretty simple to follow. It's like living a computerized life. You create people and have them live their lives while making sure all of their needs are met.You can have them live successful and filling lives, or you can be the reason for their torment and suffering. It's up to you.You call the shots and make the decisions. You can either play "Bust Out Mode" or "Free Play" ("Free Play" becomes available once you start "Bust Out Mode" and save). Also, if you have the ability to play games online, this game comes with an online mode that you can play as well.
As I've said, the graphics on the PS2 version are far more superior to that of the PC version. And what's great is that now you can enjoy the wonderful world of "The Sims" without wasting all of that computer memory. It does, however, eat through your Memory Cards (which you need in order to play), so make sure you have one or two that are only for this game and for nothing else.If you only want to create one Sim, then you'll be fine with only one Memory Card that has nothing else saved on it, but if you want to make more, you will need at least another one to go along with that one. That is really the only downfall of the game, but it is something that can be worked around.
Be warned. This game WILL eat up your time without you even being aware of it.What you think will be a simple fifteen minute game can easily turn into a three hour game and you wouldn't even notice. That's how addicting this game is.If you don't have the time to be addicted to a game, then you may want to pass this one up.
"The Sims: Bustin' Out" for the PS2 is a remarkable game that surprisingly outdoes the PC version. The graphics are great, the controls are very workable, and the replay value is off the charts. This is one of the few games that can show you that PC doesn't always mean "better."Save that memory on the PC and pick up the PS2 copy of "Bustin' Out," and let the fun begin. -Michael Crane

The Movies: Superstar Edition Review

I first encountered The Movies at the Apple Developer conference a few years ago. I just sat down at the computer to look at it for a minute and next thing I knew it was several hours later and I had missed most of the sessions I had wanted to go to. It was then I decided that I probably needed to buy the game.

My favorite types of games are sim and tycoon games and this one has elements from bothcategories. Even after hours of playing I didn't even know about the movie making aspect of the game. When I did discover it, I played with it a bit and found it rather fun and pretty easy to use, but still not what interested me in the game. The tycoon aspect isn't very difficult, but it isn't super easy and you can't slack off if you want to rise to the top of the movie making business. The sim aspect is also not too difficult, but adds some fun variability to the tycoon side. If your actors like their co-stars, they will do a better job. You also have take good care of your actors by giving them their own trailers and gardens. The happier they are, the better they act.

All in all, I feel like this game had just the right amount of difficulty and I like that it eventually ends. I like gaming, but don't have tons of time for it, so I like games I can finish in one day. And I really like games that I finish and then want to play again! I have beat this game at least three times and still want to go back and play more!

The Sims Expansion Collection Volume 1: Unleashed & House Party Review

The Sims Expansion Collection Volume 1: Unleashed & House Party

Being enthralled with this strangely obsessing game since discovering the Deluxe edition a few months ago, I was looking for a way to expand it after having installed Hot Date. Someone recommended House Party and then I discovered this expansion collection that also had Unleashed and got it. It was the best move I could've done to add to my gaming.

House Party may not be the best expansion ever but it is fun and it adds a whole lot of objects to the Sims. Also, I've gotten the chance to see them do things I never saw them do before such as dance country music, rap, do the hula, crazily shake their groove things in dance cages, watch intently as an entertainer pops out of a cake, ride a mechanical bull (and be knocked off onto their butts), and go completely berserk when Drew Carey's limousine appears at the party (he's nice, he stays and talks to all the guests). It may not be as ample as other expansions but I'd say it's definitely worth it.

Unleashed is a whoooole other thing. This may seriously be the best one ever. I had a feeling it would be just a cute game to get for the pets (I'm very keen on all dogs, even computerized ones) but it ended up being the expansion I enjoy the most. If you don't care for the pets and taking care of their needs or planting a garden (Actually, none of my Sims plant yet), get it for the new and improved neighborhood and the ability to build houses without families living in them. Yeah, that's right, you now have 40 lots to play around with! This is the best feature! And yes, you can go into the prebuilt houses, furnish them, change them or even build your own on the vacant lots and have them ready until you want to move in a family. Oh, and did I mention there's 5 new career tracks??

I could definitely go on and on about this but I'll just leave it at this, I don't think I could've gotten an expansion collection that's more fun and added sooo much to my gameplay. For that alone (as well as everything else), I recommend it. Also, no technical problems getting it to work even though my computer is fairly old.

The Sims Livin' Large Expansion Pack Review

The Sims Livin' Large Expansion Pack

Doing game reviews for BellaOnline.com, I tend to buy a new game every 3days to play. There are few that really grab a tight hold of me ... butthis was definitely one. As soon as it came out, I bought one copy for meand another as a present for a relative. That night I was up until 5amplaying my couple - a criminal and a psychic - and building them up incareer. Blearily I trudged to bed, dreaming of my Sims.
The next night Ipromised myself I'd show a little more self control. I created a musiciansim - in a fit of amusement I chose Britney Spears - and her partner PrinceWilliam. I wanted to have a little fun - I put him into a Robin Hoodoutfit. She started playing on her electric guitar, and the Sim-friendsthat came by booed their fool heads off. A few hours later, she was rippingamazing riffs on her tiny instrument, and the Sim-buddies were now dancingaround the living room. It was amazing.
The wealth of new outfits foryour sims, and objects to buy them, is just fantastic. Pets. Giant lights.Interesting, pretty doodads. The gorgeous new 60s windows and wallpaper, plus the gothic candelabras, arrow-slit windows, and even a robot make thisan incredible enhancement.
They've got fun jobs available, too. Want tobe a Shooting Star in musical fame and glory? How about a slacker (thinkgolf caddy) or hacker, or psychic or more? They're all there, each withtheir own outfits and career ladders. But wait, it even gets better.
Youcan have MULTIPLE NEIGHBORHOODS. Now, since a given Sim family often needs15 or more friends to get to the higher levels, the original game waspretty much one-person-only. You couldn't have multiple people use yourcomputer, because there were a limited number of house lots to go around. The houses were simply needed for the Sim-Pals to live in (in groups of 8of course). With the new system, each person who wants to play can havetheir very own neighborhood, where they grow and live to their heart'scontent.
Sure, there are still a few bugs. Probably the most glaring oneis the annoying lack of pathfinding ability. My psychic lost her job whenshe'd already gotten to Medium status because she was trapped in thebathroom. The maid and an unruly guest blocked both entrances, and I didn'tblast a hole in the wall fast enough. In another scenario, a guest cameinto my kitchen, faced the fall, and refused to move. She in fact fellasleep against the wall. Once again, I had to make a hole in my house forher to escape.
Pathfinding aside, though, the game is enormouslyaddictive and I haven't been to bed before 3am since it has entered thehouse. The person to whom I gave it as a gift is experiencing the exactsame problem. Sure, you can argue, is a high-school-band-teacher *really* astep up from being a lounge singer? By the time you're a Rock Star, with ahuge pool and a bar in your back yard, you don't really care. It's justamazingly fun.
