(More customer reviews)I have always been a Sims fan, so when this game first came out, I was thrilled to try something new that is somewhat similar to that type of game. It is a lot of fun to create your own studio, but what is more interesting is you have to be strategic in making sure to build a name for your studio and your actors/directors.

The game gets really detailed and it is great for people who LOVE to micromanage :o) but a lot of thought has to go into several things at once. Time is money...if you focus on one thing, you may lose out on others.

I do enjoy how you can actually direct your own movies and get creative.

The only thing I am not too crazy about is that the Stunts and Effects expansion seems even more so overwhelming, because there is just so much more going on.

I would really love to see this game expand more and have updates. I learned a lot more about the filming and the thought that goes into how you are spending your money as a studio head.

(More customer reviews)I first encountered The Movies at the Apple Developer conference a few years ago. I just sat down at the computer to look at it for a minute and next thing I knew it was several hours later and I had missed most of the sessions I had wanted to go to. It was then I decided that I probably needed to buy the game.

My favorite types of games are sim and tycoon games and this one has elements from bothcategories. Even after hours of playing I didn't even know about the movie making aspect of the game. When I did discover it, I played with it a bit and found it rather fun and pretty easy to use, but still not what interested me in the game. The tycoon aspect isn't very difficult, but it isn't super easy and you can't slack off if you want to rise to the top of the movie making business. The sim aspect is also not too difficult, but adds some fun variability to the tycoon side. If your actors like their co-stars, they will do a better job. You also have take good care of your actors by giving them their own trailers and gardens. The happier they are, the better they act.

All in all, I feel like this game had just the right amount of difficulty and I like that it eventually ends. I like gaming, but don't have tons of time for it, so I like games I can finish in one day. And I really like games that I finish and then want to play again! I have beat this game at least three times and still want to go back and play more!

(More customer reviews)This game is wonderfully addictive.There are so many types of fish to breed, and there are many wonderful features, like the different speeds.So be sure to pause your game if you can't feed your fish every couple of hours...they will die. But if that happens, don't fret, you CAN indeed restart your game.Just go down to the right corner of the menu screen and click change player. This feature allows you to even have multiple games for either you, or other members of your family. It will set you up with a brand new game.Happy breeding!

(More customer reviews)I just installed this game yesterday, and it's a whole lot of fun to play.This is a basic time management game, like Cake Mania or Diner Dash, which are also a lot of fun.

The goal of this game is to prepare orders for diners quickly in order to get enough tips to upgrade your restaurant (and get through the level) so that you can make more $$ for more upgrades.You play Rebecca, and you work with your brother Robert, who makes the subs.Customers come in and order various subs, drinks, chips, desserts, coffee, etc, and you have to manage your time in providing them with their order.Certain things take longer to prepare, and you have to be able to do more than one thing at once so that the customer doesn't leave in a huff.It's also important to collect your tips quickly, partially so you can wait on more customers, but also because thieves show up and will steal your hard earned $$ if you aren't fast enough.

I also have Turbo Pizza, Cake Mania, and Diner Dash, which are also fun.This game is very similar to those, but it has the thief character, which those others don't have.Also, while you can use your $$ to buy upgrades, certain levels come with free upgrades, which of course mean more work.There are also a few search-and-find mini games that can earn you more $$ for upgrades.

This game is a lot of fun and I highly recommend it for people who like time management style games.
