Disney's Toontown Online Review

Disney's Toontown Online
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been playing ToonTown Online for close to 2 years now. A co-worker got me hooked on it after her child got her hooked on it after seeing a commerical for it on The Disney Channel. Yes, it is an online game (hence the name ToonTown Online) and it very specifically indicates on the packaging that a recurring fee is necessary to play it after the initial 2 month game time has expired. The game is downloadable from the ToonTown website and the retail version is NOT a necessity to have. The game is a HUGE download and the CD is great to have if you have dial-up internet access like I do.

As for play value, it is great.I have 2 active toons (you can have 6) on my account that I play on a regular basis.Yes, it is geared towards kids but many of the players I encounter are adults that were hooked by their children. It is safe for kids as there are pre-made phrases that you use for your toon to communicate with other toons. There is the option for real-life players to "code" with each other so they can speak freely with each other.Even with the free speech being available, it is heavily filtered for bad language.I have tested many different "bad" words in various spellings and even inserted spaces and other characters to attempt to get it to let it come across but it won't.Kudos to Disney for being proactive in anticipating what lengths some people will go to spoil kid fun.
The concept of the game is not different than any other MMOG like EverQuest, Final Fantasy etc.You are given quests to complete for jellybeans (money), gags (weapons) and laff boosts (strength). The only difference is that this game is designed for children.

It is well worth the $10 a month and the game is always expanding. Since I have been playing there have been 2 major updates and a 3rd is scheduled for sometime in April or May, giving toons an additional neighborhood/Cog HQ to play in with new tasks and rewards.

Happy Tooning.

Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love Review

Its more about your relationships with the other characters, but this is a great Japanese strategy/dating sim. Im glad they decided to port this to the Wii. The art is wonderful, the characters likable, and the game in entertaining for the most part. Note that action isnt the focus of this game so much as character interaction.

Disney's Lilo & Stitch Review

Disney's Lilo & Stitch
Average Reviews:

Ok, ok...I am kind of a Stitch nut, but the little blue guy is just so darn cool. The movie rules, the soundtrack rocks and this game is so much fun as well.
At first I thought that it was going to be easy and that I would finish it in not time.NOT TRUE.It is surprisingly challenging.Kids can play it and get the gist of the game, have fun and laugh along with Stitch and his crazy antics.Adults will like it because you have to get "movie reels" that you use to "buy" secrets in the game.Inter-Stitchals (the commercials used to preview the movie), scenes from the film and other goodies. These "reels" are surprisingly hard to come by...but worth the effort to collect.Collect enough to "buy" your favorite scenes from the movie...take a break from playing...and watch something funny.
The game reminds me of the "Crash Banditcoot" games for the PSOne. They are fun, challenging, but not so difficult that it alienates a whole group of players. This game is a fun romp through the universe...Stitch style.Blow stuff up...collect DNA...acquire "movie reels"...and laugh.Yep, those would be the main points of the game. Its just fun, both for kids and adults...a great addition to any game library. The control is smooth and the graphics are slick...gameplay is great and it has superb replay value.Get it...its a ton of fun.

PLAYSTATION TARZAN Review

PLAYSTATION TARZAN

I loved this game! You start out as a young Tarzan and soon grow into an adult. On that path, you start fighting small monkeys and then move up to Sabor, the leopard, and then Clayton's men. I had a lot of fun. It is easyat some points, but some thinking comes into some levels. And Clayton isn'ttoo easy too beat. The hardest part of the last level, is simply runningaround the large vines, trying to get to the top of the tree, for the finalbattle.

My son is obsessed with Cars, and constantly asks to watch the Mater's Tall Tales TV shorts. How much better is it to read them instead! The artwork is lovely (taken right from the digital versions, rather than artist's renderings), the story is simplified but to the point, and Mater is charming as always.Great little collection of stories.

Disney Dream Desk USB Game Controller Dual Vibration Review

Disney Dream Desk USB Game Controller Dual Vibration
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Disney Dream Desk USB Game Controller with Dual Vibration is not just for kids! Granted the kids do like it alot though.
I got this for playing mame and was looking for a inexpensive unit to try things out with and if the kids broke it eh no biggie. Well to my surprise this unit is very well made and sturdy feeling. My little one said it seemed to fit better than the other one we had and I have to agree.

Buttons work well and are responsive the thumbsticks are good but they are a far cry from a real joystick.

It has a auto fire function which is kinda cool you can turn it on and when you press fire it will keep shooting or punching or what ever, come in handy with some of these games arg! LOL

The vibration does not work with mame but does seem to work with other games but I kinda was expecting that.

All in all a decent gamepad that is hard to beat at this price. I have even got a couple of extras for those 4 player games :)

The Magical Quest starring Mickey Mouse Review

The Magical Quest starring Mickey Mouse
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Magical Quest starring Mickey Mouse is one of the many games that Capcom made that had Disney characters during the "Nintendo vs. Sega" era.In this game, you play as Mickey as he tries to stop Pete and his evil presence.
As you progress through the game, you get access to new abilities that allow Mickey to do different things like when Mickey gets the magician's outfit, he can attack enemies with magic. The firefighter's outfit lets him spray water using a fire hose to do various things like moving blocks. The mountaineer's outfit gives Mickey access to using a grappling hook to swing off of certain objects.
In point in the game, Mickey can purchase items such as a larger capacity of magic and water or more health.
This game, however, is really short. And like most games made around this time, if you skip something, you cannot go back. There is a great plus in this game for people who want a challenge:The hardest difficulty mode is very hard!I could never get through the second level.

This game is the best out of the three games. I LOVE that you can play with ron, kim and rufus! I love the game but the only thing I really don't like is that you have to buy TWO games to play with someone else. I had to do that with my sister and that was ok but then I had to spend more money. I'm 12 and I think this game is the bomb though, some parts were a little tricky at first, but then when you play that part over you get the hang of it. Kids under 8 shouldn't play it with out help because my couisn is 8 and always asks me for help of understanding how to do stuff. So this gaame is sooo recomended by me! you should totally buy it! it's worth your money!

I was actually thrilled with this game.My four year old is new to the game boy and this has been a hit.The controls are easy, the regular game mode is fun following the basic story of Disney's The Little Mermaid. There is also an option to pick each of the individual games as mini games. This game is great for hand eye coordination, memory, learning right from left, and lots more.

The game is short for an older child but perfect for a preschooler.I myself even enjoy playing it.If you are looking for a great beginner game for ages 4-7 this is it.

This little game exceeded all of my expectations and then some. For any fan of Walt Disney World, this is paradise! Each race track is base on an area of the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, and the environments are simply outstanding.I found myself enjoying watching my wife play the game so I could watch the scenery without worrying about having to drive!!!
You will smile and laugh throughout the entire game as familiar landmarks stream by you while you race various vehicles (you drive a Doom Buggy through the Haunted Mansion). It is also worth mentioning that the soundtracks that accompany each race track are pulled from their respective attractions which can be really funny. This game will bring back memories of all of your trips to Disney. The gameplay is excellent as you will need to complete many different tasks to complete the game.I've waited a long time for the release of this game, and it was worth it.Tremendous fun.

Disney's Kim Possible 2 Drakken Demise Review

Disney's Kim Possible 2 Drakken Demise
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After playin the first Kim Possible game for the GBA and enjoying it very much, I knew I just had to get this one. After searching for a couple of days I finally found it.Although I was excited, I was still a bit skeptical.I was scared that this was basically gonna be an exact copy of the first one, but I was definitely wrong.Disney Interactive did a great job of making it different from the first. Let's break it down real quick.
Gameplay(4/5)-The gameplay was pretty good in my opinion. The game is made up of four episodes with four levels in each. The episodes are:
-True or Falsetto(Grapling hook(improved very much) and glue glob introduced)
-Altitude Attitude(Hot sauce)
-The Rufus Factor(Stealth Suit)
-Day of the Destructo Bots (Compact laser reflector)
Two things during the game that I thought were a big improvement was that you had the ability to roam around more and no more annoying passwords!!!I also liked the shadow kim that taught you the new moves during the game, it was very helpful. The only thing that I wish they would have done was do a level with Ron
Graphics(5/5)- The graphics in this game are amazing! They are very 3-D like and very detailed (she has a face this time, lol!) They are difenately great to look at and worth the price of the game alone.
Control(3/5)- The controls were a little sluggish to me, espcially when fighting.I also found that some of the weapons took a couple seconds too long to work.So basically they were'nt that bad, just a little sluggish.
Frustration(5/5)- I would say this was a very frustrating game. There are some levels that just make you want throw your gameboy across the room (I difinately could have done without the rufus level, the flying level, and the skate level, although the flying and skate were kinda cool, but frustrating!) But even though it is frustrating, I would still consider this easy.I'm not a very experinced player(I mean I've played a lot, just not good at em) but I beat this game in 2 days! But becaue of the frustration I wouldn't reccomend this to the younger crowd.
Extras(2/5)- Unfortunately there are no movie clips like the fist one, instead we get little trading cards which im my opinion were very boring and kinda hard to find.
So thanks for reading my reveiw of Kim Possible 2 Drakken's Demise.Be on the look out for other Disney Channel games this fall including Lizzie McGuire 2 and That's so Raven. Bye!!

Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories Review

Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This game is so much fun it is difficult to express how happy I am having spent my money on it.

Graphics: 10/10. The graphics are absolutely incredible for being on a GBA. I've been playing Chain of Memories (CoM) on my Nintendo DS and often thought "wow, this DS does have good graphics..." just to remember I was playing a GBA game! In particular, the cinematic cutscenes could easily be N64 quality.

Music: 8/10. Original themes from the original Kingom Hearts. Well transposed to handheld, but nothing exceptional.

Story 9/10. If somewhat linear and not extremely original as the first Kingdom Hearts, CoM presents a genuinely sweet and enveloping story. Grown ups and kids should love it both, each one capturing and apprciating some of the sides of the story the other would not.

Gameplay: 10/10. This is where the game is actually great. It manages to insert a "card game" into a live action brawler. In combat againsty the heartless you command Sora through cards you collect and buy during the game. The cards can be combined to create enhanced effects and to deal major damage on your enemy. You will find out that creating a well balanced deck is vital to sucess. One suggestion: you have 3 possible decks you can keep at the same time, make one for normal heartless duels, and custom make another for boss encounters.

(One of the coolest combos is using 3 Cloud evocation cards.)

Finally, you will be exploring and shaping the worlds you explore through "map cards." In fact, every time you reach a door you must open it with a "map card."
These map cards are found as loot after duels and deciding which variety will affect the sort of "area" you will end up in and its contents. This adds a lot of fun and strategy to the game.

Bottom line:
A MUST BUY FOR ANY GBA OWNER!!!
Moreover, if you like at all Final Fantasy or Disney, you need to have this game.

There are a number of challenges tomeet; coins need to be collected for Hamm, sheep need to be rescued for BoPeep, Mr. Potato Head needs his missing ear, Buzz races the RC car; alltwists on the movie. When Buzz performs these fun and challenging heroics, the player is rewarded with Pizza Planet tokens. Love Peter Pan? I sure do! I loved Return to Neverland, and I wanted to buy the video game, so I rented it at Blockbuster....it was F-U-N! If you've never seen Peter Pan 2, then it'll be exciting to see some video clips as an extra bonus in the game! In the game, you play both Peter and Tink. Only in a few levels, is when you play Tink. And I'll tell you one thing.....the game loads an awful lot! That's my only complain. Other than that, the game is a definate get!

Based on Disney's new animated feature film, this game lets you play as either Peter Pan or Tinker Bell and explore over 20 levels filled with leaps, puzzles, races, and fights. Bonus and hidden stages let you discover every nook and cranny of Never Land. Play in a mode designed for the very young or in the challenge mode for more advanced players.
In the world of the game, Wendy has grown up and now has children of her own. But the real world is a very different place from Never Land: World War II is raging, and London has become a battleground. The one comfort Wendy has for her children is her wealth of stories about the remarkable place she used to know. Her boy, Danny, loves bedtime stories, but 12-year-old Jane is a practical child with no patience for this nonsense. In this world torn apart by war, Jane sees no room for faith, trust, and make-believe. At least, not until she is kidnapped by Captain Hook and whisked away to Never Land. Now, the land of fantasy becomes a reality, and the silly boy who would never grow up is her hero, taking Jane on a fabulous adventure of whimsy and daring that just may restore her faith.

Disney The Emperor's New Groove Review

Disney The Emperor's New Groove
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First, let me comment that I don't own the PlayStation version, but based on the information I've seen on other websites, it seems to be the same game.I own the PC version.
Second, I'm not a very experienced gamer. On the other hand, I'm in my 30's.I found The Emperor's New Groove challenging and fun. While from a strictly technical standpoint, I can see arguments that the graphics aren't perfect, the graphics were absorbing to me.I also loved the music and the funny, sarcastic attitude of the characters.
You control Kuzco, the Emperor, in his transformed, llama state. The game begins high up in the mountains, in Pacha's village, and your goal is to travel back to the royal palace to be transformed back into a human Emperor. The game is a series of levels that take you through the mountains, rivers, catacombs, etc.You have to collect coins and other items, solve puzzles, and make many challenging jumps--in many ways, The Emperor's New Groove can be considered a platform game.
One of the things that makes the game challenging is that you only can take five hits before you lose a life.It is possible to collect extra lives, but it isn't easy to find the object you need to get them.Until you've mastered defeating enemies like the "evil" royal guards, you can take those five hits in a matter of seconds.Losing all your lives (I often only had one) means starting over from the beginning of a level. When you're in a level that takes 40 minutes to get through and you have to defeat the guard 20 minutes into it, that can be quite a challenge.
Of course, to experienced gamers, say someone who plays computer/video games an hour or two per day and has been doing so for 10 - 15 years or so, this might not be such a hard game. But as a Disney title, The Emperor's New Groove is directed at kids from 8 and up.For more inexperienced gamers of any age, it may be _too_ challenging. My wife, for instance, who hasn't tried playing computer games before this title (she liked the film so much that she wanted to try it) has given up for the time being, at least until she builds some experience on easier titles.I'm a bit more experienced, but there were levels here, such as the very long one full of huge Venus Flytraps, lava pits, bees, ellaborate arrow booby traps, etc. that took me _at least_ 5 or 6 hours of gameplay to get through.
Elsewhere, I've read some complaints about the way the 3D camera automatically scrolls.I agree that when you're in a tight spot, the camera changes can make the game quite difficult. Also, you have to position the camera in order to make many of the jumps, and tight spots, as well as trying to maneuver so you won't miss the jump, can make positioning the camera correctly _extremely_ difficult. But that's part of the challenge, isn't it?
In my opinion, the three most recent Disney Action Games I've played--The Emperor's New Groove, 102 Dalamatians: Puppies to the Rescue (this is the best one for the most inexperienced gamers, since it's much harder to die) and Donald Duck Goin' Quackers--are not only the three best Disney games so far, but are the most fun games I've played yet (I may have to add other recent titles to that list, but although I own them, I was waiting to finish those three (and I still can't defeat the last Donald Duck Boss) before I install them).Of course it helps that I'm a huge Disney fan.
