American Girl Kit Mystery Challenge Review

American Girl Kit Mystery Challenge

I got this game for Christmas last year. I was so excited. It was exactly what I wanted. That is until I started playing. At first it was easy enough to think you could finish the mystery. But after a certain point I couldn't go any further with the mystery. The game wouldn't let me. I couldn't even say what I thought was the solution. I am so disappointed that I think I should throw it out.

Mystery Case Files: Prime Suspects Review

Mystery Case Files: Prime Suspects
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been hooked on "Mystery Case Files" games since the first one appeared last year (titled "Huntsville").The goal in this series of games is to search for a list of hidden items that have been embedded within various pictures/locations - and to do it within a specified period of time.

In "Prime Suspects", the ultimate goal is to determine who stole the queen's "Hope Diamond".You do this by first locating the hidden items listed in each location within the time allotted.Once you find the clues/items for each suspect, you have to solve another puzzle through the "crime computer" in order to find out what each suspect was really up to at the time of the crime - are they innocent or have they made the "prime suspect" list?

The types of puzzles you'll have to complete include: reconstructing various pictures, matching games, & word finds.Because you aren't given any extra time to complete these puzzles be sure to work fast at finding the clues/items so that you have enough time to complete these puzzles - lest you have to start at the beginning again for that particular suspect.

Overall, I've found the "Mystery Case Files" games to be great fun and highly addictive! If you enjoy "search & find"-type games, you can't go wrong with "Prime Suspects"!

Mystery Case Files: Return to Ravenhearst Review

Mystery Case Files: Return to Ravenhearst
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The designers of this sequel to "Ravenhearst" have reached a new plateau of excellence in the Hidden Object genre. "Return to Ravenhearst" is gorgeous, fun, challenging and delightful. Perfect for everybody from older kids on up. Way up. I am 79.

You, as detective, return to the creepy old mansion, this time to free the souls of Rose Somerset and her twin daughters Gwendolyn and Charlotte from the clutches of the insane Charles Dalimar, murderer of Emma Ravenhearst. You had freed Emma's soul in the previous game, but she left behind her maid-housekeeper and the two little girls. Charles is kept alive by feeding off the souls of Rose and the children, even though they are dead. The souls cannot rest in peace because they are figuratively shackled to Dalimar. Their ghosts eerily appear, urging you on,as you journey through the game on your way to setting them free.

The environments are superb, filled with special effects, such a flickering candles, leaves that practically fall into your lap and sullen, spitting raindrops that will set you shivering right in your computer chair. There's a marvellous bouncing Victorian trolley car, and everywhere raucously cawing crows, for in this game everything is engineered for atmosphere. One scene is of a ghastly bathroom with a shrieking mannequin in the shower and flies crawling all over the garbage littered everywhere.

The mini-games are wonderful and you have to figure out how to open locks to various areas by solving a puzzle. They're clever, very imaginative and funny. If you absolutely can't figure any of them out, you can by pass them but they're too much fun to avoid unless you have to! There are many walkthroughs in Google if you get stuck.

The music is excellent, and although the sarcastic comments that appear when you click on the wrong thing or get in any kind of clicking frenzy might annoy some, I found them funny and often appropriate.

The Hidden Objects are diabolically well-camouflaged and even with your nose an inch from the screen, you're gonna have to work at finding them. A great evening's entertainment for the whole family if you can all get close enough, and somebody will frequently be yelling "There it is!" Don't know what a kazoo or a carabiner are? You will! You have to find all the objects or you can't move on, but there's a hint option. However, you have to wait a long time for the hint to rev up enough so you can use it.

Enjoy!

Mystery Case Files: Ravenhearst Review

Mystery Case Files: Ravenhearst
Average Reviews:

I honestly have nothing bad to say about the full series of MCF games (Prime Suspects, Huntsville, etc.) but Ravenhearst is by far the best one.Beautiful graphics, fun in between games and a spooky storyline really sets this apart from the other seek and find games on the market.

If you aren't familiar with seek and find games, in a nutshell there is a picture (often a scene of a room) and you are given a list of specific items to find within that picture.Although that might sound easy, the illustrators can be very tricky in their placement of the item, so that it almost blends into the picture. It is very addictive and very fun, if you find the right game, and trust me, this is the right game.

So even if it's not Halloween and you are just in the mood for something a little spooky, try it out. You'll be amazed when you look up at the clock and realize how long you have been playing for, and how you still don't want to stop.

Drawn: The Painted Tower Review

Drawn: The Painted Tower
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The artwork is wonderful, the story is great, the voice acting is engaging and professional. Gameplay is seamless. The puzzles were interesting and intuitive, but they were quite easy. This might be a great way to introduce younger adventure gamers to the genre for that reason, but the style and feel of the game will win over even a seasoned gamer.

It was never repetetive, I didn't feel like I had to trudge back and forth between locations at all. I also never found myself clicking around in frustration looking for an object or a pathway, like so often happens with point and click adventures.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because it's a short game. I finished it in a little over 2 hours. The price is reasonable for that amount of gameplay, I just could have gone on playing for much much longer.MUCH longer.

It's a great little game.
