Pocahontas: Princess of the Powhatan Review

Pocahontas: Princess of the Powhatan
Average Reviews:

This game is mostly an "I Spy" type game with some other kinds of puzzles as well.It is moved forward by dialogue between historical characters. The graphics are nice.My kids age 8, 6, and 4 really enjoyed the free trial and are lobbying for me to buy it.

It is not historically accurate.Even in the limited dialogue, my kids were pointing out errors from our two week study of John Smith, Jamestown, and Pocahontas.

By googling the title of this game you can easily find a one hour free trial download to help you decide if you want to buy it.We probably will be doing so.

Neighbors from Hell Review

Neighbors from Hell
Average Reviews:

I got this game at EB Games thinking it was going to be awful.I started playing it, and I actually liked it!The basic idea is that you are on a reality TV show, where the goal is to make your neighbor as mad as possible. In order to do that, you play tricks on him - like drawing all over his mom's portrait with a black marker, cutting his favorite chair in half, switching out his hard candy with bath beads, etc. When he finds out, he gets super mad!And if you manage to pull several tricks in a row, you get extra points. If you get caught, he beats you up pretty bad. :D
The game runs well, I never had any issues when I was installing or playing it.The only thing I didn't like about the game is that I beat it about 2 1/2 hours. There are only about a dozen scenarios to do, and each has a timer of about 5 minutes. Also, I would have liked to see more variety in tricks - by the last few scenarios I knew every single trick and it was just a matter of strategizing on what order I wanted to pull them off in to get the maximum amount of points.
Overall - decent game, but way too short. :)

Nancy Drew Dossier: Resorting to Danger Review

Nancy Drew Dossier: Resorting to Danger
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The entire game only takes about 3-4 hours to play which was really my main disappointment with this purchase. However, I paid over twenty dollars to buy this on CD.Now, you can purchase it for less then seven dollars as a video download on Amazon -- and then it is a bargain. This is a new format for HER Interactive. It eliminates many of the aspects of the other Nancy Drew games that I find frustrating/boring. The dialog is snappier and there is much less of it. You spend less time navigating Nancy from location to location. There are plenty of mini games and the hidden object component is fun. The objects are very easy to find as your curser glows and sparkles as you pass over (or get close to) an object. Some of the mini games are repetitive although they do get more challenging as you progress through the game. If I was able to change the game, I would make it longer and add more puzzles and perhaps make it more challenging. I was able to complete the entire game easily without resorting to the Internet for hints. I would definitely buy more in this series if they were available as inexpensive video downloads.

Farm Frenzy 3: Ice Age Review

Farm Frenzy 3: Ice Age
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This game is lots of fun for all ages in our house (from 11 up).Plays well on the laptop and the eee - we were hesitant to try it with the smaller screen size of the eee, but it works well.Once you solve a level, you can try it again to improve your time.Only complaint is that we each managed to obtain all the upgrades of equipment about halfway through the game, which takes away some of the point of moving through the levels.Still, watching the penguins, walruses and mammoths on the screen is entertaining and this game is a great way to kick back for awhile.

Little Shop - Memories Review

Little Shop - Memories
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is my first Little Shop game, and they might all be like this and you might like this format. I prefer to use "relaxed mode" in my games, but I am ok with those that only have timed modes. But not this short a time!!!Yikes! They give you 5 minutes (not sure if that is real time, seemed faster) to find a LOT of well-hidden objects! I used all the hints available and could see that I was still going to run out of time before I came close to finishing (and I am actually pretty good at these games...) so that was the end of this game, deleted within a few minutes of starting. I've never seen a game that gave you such a short time to find items. If you like being rushed, you have had lots of caffeine and are a bit twitchy, go for it! If you are looking for fun, pass this one by.

Pure Hidden Review

Pure Hidden
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Pure Hidden is an incredible potpourri of activities from a hidden object pop art collage of superman floating in a Las Vegas skyline, to a beautiful leafy scene full of diabolically hidden butterflies, to magnificent assemblies of Ukrainian eggs, to funny puzzles like connecting a series of water pipes, to creating your own artistic masterpiece with stencils and paints. Many of the mini-games are easy enough for kids but the hidden objects in cartoon like environments are incredibly hard to find ( 30 or more items) so a kid and an adult can play side by side with great mutual contentment and joy.

There is no plot, you are not breaking a wicked curse, chasing a villain or finding an absent-minded professor's glasses. Each completed level adds flowers and fruit to a graceful tree, which you build as you go along.

Pure Hidden is really one big activity box, highly original, visually stunning and just plain fun, even quirky, a gem for the young and young at heart!

Jewel Quest Mysteries 2: Trail of the Midnight Heart Review

Jewel Quest Mysteries 2: Trail of the Midnight Heart
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
You are following the intrepid Eva as she explores steamy jungles, a gorgeous scene of the Taj Mahal, vine- choked exotic ruins, mysterious temples and much more in southwest Asia and in Australia -20 different beautifully created scenes in all. You are going to be kept busy not only looking for relics and the tools to dig them up with but searching for exotic jewels and gold coins, ways to increase your hint bank and your score.

The objects are very well hidden and you're going to need every hint you can get. The search areas are timed and if you click three times on the wrong thing, your time is lopped 30 seconds. If you can't find all those omelets, hot dogs, jukeboxes, tambourines and what-have-you before time is up, you have to play that whole level again. The objects themselves do not shift location, but perhaps one fault of the game is that you are required to return to the same scene too many times whether or not you are repeating a level.

Each environmental location contains a hummingbird bearing a shard, and when you`ve collected enough shards they'll form a board, and you'll play a match- three mini game. Every few levels you're treated to a nice HOG variation. In one of these, when gliding from left to right and while you're looking out a plane window, you're obliged to grab twenty feathers which are cleverly attached to clouds and mountains. You have to hustle a bit to do it.

There is plenty going on in this game and over all it's nicely put together. The art work is simply beautiful and combined with the wonderful Middle Eastern music you'll quickly be immersed in the adventure.

The Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes Review

The Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am a fan of the Sherlok Holmes TV show and try to purchase any & all Holmes PC games. [The same for Agatha Christie.] The package consists of 16 books/stories [puzzles]. Each puzzle consists of dialog, searching for hidden objects and choosing the culprit. All 16 follow the SAME pattern. The puzzles are also timed [~30 min.] As expected there is an increase in "difficulty" as you progress. I do not know if the story line really helps in solving the mystery for I usually skip it to stay with the hunt.
the mechanics of the game(s) are well done. The puzzle REPETITION is truly the limiting factor for a this game.

I enjoyed the first Mortimer Beckett, and was definitely looking forward to the new one.I was not at all disappointed. This MB has the player travelling through time, seeking out the pieces of objects that will complete puzzles necessary to advance to the next level. The graphics on this game are truly fantastic. We go with Mortimer throughout time- to ancient Egypt, Camelot, a robot lab in the future, and many more. The puzzles are harder than those in the first game, and the game was longer than the first. Those who loved the first MB, or those who enjoy hidden object games generally should definitely try out this game.

Big City Adventure - Sydney Review

Big City Adventure - Sydney
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This was an interesting game mainly because of the facts presented with each location used in the game. I'd love to go to Australia and visit these places in person. I'm new to these "find the object" games, but I think difficulty of finding all the objects was simple enough for just about anybody, even a child.the graphics are clear and a lot of the objects ere cleverly drawn "within" other objects. There is no time limit for each search; a couple of the repetitive puzzles after each find were less fun, but you have the option to skip them if you found all the items.
I also bought Huntsville.Mystery Case Files: Huntsville and it's defintely more challenging. Each search is timed and the time left after you find all the objects is used to do a puzzle with a clue to solve a mystery at the end. Searches get more difficult leaving less time to solve the puzzle.
Both are good to give old brains the workout we need to stay alert as we age.

There are literally dozens of games like this, that is games where you line up 3 balls and pop them. They're called poppers. Some have better production value than others.

Luckily this is one of the best ones. It has a nice variety of levels and not very annoying sound and music.

I recommend to go to most difficult mode right away because you'll spend 2 hours before it gets challenging

Samantha Swift and the Mystery from Atlantis Review

Samantha Swift and the Mystery from Atlantis
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The best in this series so far, and one of the best hidden-object games I've played. My only "complaint" is that it is somewhat easy, but you expect that from these games, right?

In addition to the objects in the list, there are clue-objects, like in the list it will say "sand timer" = hourglass, things like that, and there are things you can't find without taking some action or using some tool on the scene, like previous Samantha Swift games. You can get extra hints by finding the hidden lightning bolts, and in addition there are two swift birds in each scene that you can find to unlock a bonus mode later in the game. These aren't always as easy to find as most of the objects are!

The puzzles were fun, but not too hard, but again not so easy that it became tedium. The storyline is interesting, like you'd expect, and did I mention a bonus mode?Hidden-object mode lets you go into the scenes you visited during gameplay and just find things, and try to beat your high score, without having to go back through the whole game. And the object list changes every time, so it won't get stale. The art is a little cartoonish, but nothing was depicted in a way that made it difficult to find.

Overall it's a lot of fun and bonus mode keeps the game playable even after the story is finished, and the optional extras make it awesome!
