Little Shop - Memories Review

(More customer reviews)This is my first Little Shop game, and they might all be like this and you might like this format. I prefer to use "relaxed mode" in my games, but I am ok with those that only have timed modes. But not this short a time!!!Yikes! They give you 5 minutes (not sure if that is real time, seemed faster) to find a LOT of well-hidden objects! I used all the hints available and could see that I was still going to run out of time before I came close to finishing (and I am actually pretty good at these games...) so that was the end of this game, deleted within a few minutes of starting. I've never seen a game that gave you such a short time to find items. If you like being rushed, you have had lots of caffeine and are a bit twitchy, go for it! If you are looking for fun, pass this one by.

(More customer reviews)There's nothing terribly new here but this is a solid game with a good hint system (5 hints per investigation, and you won't need them all) and interesting mini-games that you can skip if you choose. I play these games for only a brief time at each sitting so it's hard to know if it's very short, but I would guess that this game is on the short side. On the other hand, I did skip some mini-games, so that would speed it up. No need to play the tutorial to find out if there are special items to look for in every scene--there aren't.

Dream Chronicles: The Chosen Child Review

(More customer reviews)This is the third installment of the Dream Chronicles series and just as much fun as the first two. The storyline is by and large the same as in the first two episodes - you are a mortal, married to a fairy. Your child has disappeared and you must find her. In order to do so, there are many puzzles and challenges to be solved.

The graphics are truly stunning but the biggest reason I love the Dream Chronicles is the variety of challenges and that they are all tied to the story. There are objects to find and then these objects must be used in certain ways to repair things, make them work or make new things in order to advance through the game. One never feels like the puzzle/challenge has no relevance to the game, as I find is often the case with these Hidden Objects games which I personally think are painfully boring and repetitive.

The challenges are not too difficult, just right for someone like me who does not want to spend days to figure out the logic of the game's programmer. With a bit of skill the game can easily be finished in an afternoon, so it is perfect for casual gaming.

Whether it is looking through a telescope and finding a certain star constellation, repeating a musical sequence, navigating a maze, or brewing a magic potion after solving a word game to get the last secret ingredient that is needed, I had a great time playing this.

Once finished, one can enter one's name into the global scores and compare oneself to other players worldwide. Repeating the game helps up the score. The good thing is that things slightly change when you play it a second time so it still remains somewhat interesting even though the puzzles remain the same.

I just wish there were a fourth sequel... :-)

Dream Chronicles 2 Review

(More customer reviews)For a long time I was a fan of the Myst games because I loved traveling through beautiful and exotic landscapes and solving challenging puzzles. Unfortunately, the puzzles were designed by Stephen Hawking for Albert Einstein to solve. OK, not THAT hard, but they were frustrating to the point that the games stopped being fun.
Enter Dream Chronicles. The first game was delightful and challenging, with all the bits and pieces needed for the solution right there on the screen. Dream Chronicles 2 improves on the first edition in that you come tomore complex scenes that may have several rooms or levels to them. You then have to find out how to enter each level in turn, using clues and objects from all the other levels to solve the one you're in. For instance, in the tower (late in the game), you must first figure out how to get in. Then, once you're in, there's an organ on the first level, a library on the second, a chess board on the third, and an armory on the fourth. You must figure out each story in its turn, but the second sends you back to the first, the third to the second and first, etc. It's a much richer experience than the first Dream Chronicles, but still not so difficult that my 58 year old brain couldn't cope with all the puzzles without consulting a walkthrough.
I highly recommend this game; it will keep you occupied for hours of delightful distraction. And again, the music is enchanting, and the scenery is truly lovely to experience.

(More customer reviews)Fishdom is my absolute favorite match 3 game because you can buy things and create aquariums.Fishdom H20 is very similar except that it is a find hidden items game instead of a match 3.You still earn money instead of points so that you can purchase Fish or Beauty or Comfort for the aquarium you are creating.Each aquarium has 3 levels and things cost more on each level so this game will provide you with lots of play.I wish there were MORE games were you buy things in the game instead of just earning points - it gives the game more of a "point" - in my opinion anyway. The only other game I've found that does this is FLOWER PARADISE and I recommend it as well (it is a match 3 and you buy things to create your garden - great graphics).

Samantha Swift and the Mystery from Atlantis Review

(More customer reviews)The best in this series so far, and one of the best hidden-object games I've played.My only "complaint" is that it is somewhat easy, but you expect that from these games, right?

In addition to the objects in the list, there are clue-objects, like in the list it will say "sand timer" = hourglass, things like that, and there are things you can't find without taking some action or using some tool on the scene, like previous Samantha Swift games.You can get extra hints by finding the hidden lightning bolts, and in addition there are two swift birds in each scene that you can find to unlock a bonus mode later in the game.These aren't always as easy to find as most of the objects are!

The puzzles were fun, but not too hard, but again not so easy that it became tedium.The storyline is interesting, like you'd expect, and did I mention a bonus mode?Hidden-object mode lets you go into the scenes you visited during gameplay and just find things, and try to beat your high score, without having to go back through the whole game.And the object list changes every time, so it won't get stale.The art is a little cartoonish, but nothing was depicted in a way that made it difficult to find.

Overall it's a lot of fun and bonus mode keeps the game playable even after the story is finished, and the optional extras make it awesome!

(More customer reviews)I usually don't buy hidden objects games because of their lack of replay value to me, but I really love this one.

The presentation is lovely. The story is that you inherited of your grandfather's house, and you're in charge of restoring its garden, and eventually to take part in a garderner's club contest. You will be visiting all of the house's rooms (15 in all) to sell the items hidden within them.

The game can be played timed or untimed. There are 3 different types of hints you can use: standard (and you'll get bonus money if you don't use those), as well as camera and thermometer hints that are hidden within the rooms (cameras show a flash of where the objects are located, while thermometers change your cursor from cold to hot as you move it across the scene).

You can serve up to 5 customers at once, for a total of 20 customers (objects) to find per room. The customers' faces appear on the left of the screen along with the name of the object they want to buy and how much they'll pay for it. Once you find the object, a pile of coins is displayed in place of that customer -- it's up to you to click the money to immediately get another customer, or wait until you finish serving one of the other customers. This way, you can control how many customers you're handling at once -- if they have to wait too long (I mean, really too long -- and this is independant of whether you selected timed or untimed mode) the amount of money they offer you for the object will slowly decrease.

Sometimes, customers will ask you to find a set of 2, 3 or 4 similar objects (for instances, 3 pairs of gloves). If you manage to click on all items in the set in quick succession, you'll get a bonus amount of money.

Every so often, you'll also receive letters from special customers asking you to sell them a set of 20 objects (for instance 20 coffee makers) hidden in a single room. Other times, you'll have to find a set of 20 objects hidden among several different rooms on top of the 20 standard hidden objects.

Also, on top of the objects you'll have to search for customers, a certain amount of loose coins are hidden within each scene. Don't miss them if you want the extra money.

What is really nice is that, not only does the list of objects you have to find changes everytime (that's the norm for HOGs), but also most of the items within the room (and the coins) will be moved around! So if you found that umbrella next to the chair last time, it might be a different size and in a completely different place next time! This truly add enormous replay value to the game.

Another thing that adds replay value is the beautiful garden. Between each room search, you'll be brought back to your garden where you can use the money you earned to buy items. For each item, you'll be able to choose between 3 different styles which you can mix and match anyway you want. You can even change your mind later on (for a small fee) and pick another item or style, so you can potentially continue playing forever as you change your garden around.

I really have nothing bad to say about this game except, maybe, that' I'd want more of it. It would be great to have even more rooms, or an even bigger garden to customize. I'd definitely pay for an expansion to this game, or a version 2 maybe.

I've played GardenScapes on 3 different computers -- on XP and Vista 32-bit, and currently playing it on Windows 7 64-bit. Works fine on all 3 operating systems. No problem at all.

(More customer reviews)I agree with the previous reviewer.This is a truly beautiful hidden objects game.The story is the thing, and may not be everyone's cup of tea: weddings and romance and the hint of intimacy,but I for one haven't enjoyed a game this much in a long time.It is gorgeous, relaxing and a decent length.I appreciate the lightness and exquisite use of color. So many games seem dark and somber these days. Either that or they are cartoonish with oversaturated pigments.Not this game.

I could tell right off this wasn't a game to rush through so I played the untimed version.The hidden object scenes are just right: not too easy and not impossibly difficult. There are a few mini-games woven into the story. I found them pretty simple but fun and refreshingly different.You are asked to take wedding photos, decorate cakes, arrange flowers and guide wedding party members or guests to their seats. If you do well on the mini game, you get an extra hint. You can also get extra hints by finding certain letters hidden in each hidden object scene. These can be tricky to discover, but it adds to the fun challenge.

The list of objects changes somewhat with repeated gameplay, and a few objects change location when you return to a scene during the game, so it does have some replay value.

Am so glad I tried and purchased this one and look forward to the sequel which is supposed to come out at the end of the year.Hope Amazon offers it.

(More customer reviews)The only reason I'm rating the game 4 stars for overall is that I'm not finished with it yet. It's a really fun and different seek and find game. There are minipuzzles to solve and spells that you have to mix up to get to other levels. So far I'm enjoying the paths and the artwork and soundtrack are wonderful. It's challenging but not so much so that you become frustrated. There's a hint bottle that once used has to refill, but it can also be used (without refilling) to get to other puzzles that have to be solved. A really enjoyable puzzle.Deadtime Stories [Game Download]

I've finished the game, my review hasn't changed other than it's 5 stars now instead of 4. I do wish it was longer but usually the way a good game goes. I hope there will be more Deadtime Stories in the future.
