Saitek P990 Dual Analog Game Pad Review

This is the new improved version of the p880, which got lots of great reviews on Amazon. I've now played with this for a couple of hours and I'm EXTREMELY happy with it! It is perfect in every way! First, the gamepad is much bigger than the two logitech gamepads they had at circuit city. I like that, cuz my hands are large. The smaller gamepads are like they're made for little kids. Anyway, p990 is also lightweight. It has a cool blue light so you can see the buttons in the dark. It's bright, but it doesn't distract me while I'm playing games. I like the shape of the gamepad and the arrangement of all the buttons and controls. There is nothing to improve, as far as I'm concerned. Everything works great. I like very much that there are 6 buttons on top. This is great for fighting games like Mortal Kombat. There are two buttons on each shoulder. I read that's good for sports games, such as football and basketball. So there's a grand total of 10 buttons. Both of the dual analog joysticks were PERFECTLY calibrated right out of the box. I didn't have to adjust anything. All I did was plug in the joystick in the USB port and turn on my PC. It was automatically detected and installed. Only thing I did was check out the buttons in the joystick control panel to see how they worked and to see everything was perfect. The analog joysticks worked very well in several different 3D driving and flying games I tried. I was satisfied with them. This is great. Now I have both analog & digital control all in one unit. A software CD is included, but I didn't bother trying to use it yet. I also didn't try using the button that's supposed to load configurations for first person shooter games. The right side analog joystick is labeled "mouse look." I guess I'll update this review after I've tried an FPS with this gamepad. I wouldn't hestitate to buy it. It's incredible! It's a million times better than my old gravis gamepad pro.

Logitech G5 Laser Gaming Mouse: Battlefield 2142 Edition Review

I have no comment about the battlefield 2142 edition design but this mouse itself is still the best gaming mouse for now. The review with the person who got it DOA it happens and thats bad luck. That review is credible, the one about the person who couldn't even get it to work with battlefield don't blame the mouse. It has 3 DPI settings which u can switch with buttons on the fly, weights, non slip grip, Teflon feet, durable cable that doesn't get stuck what more do you want. I am going to buy another one soon, I hope it does get beat (competition makes everything better/cheaper) so they come out with something even better but until then this is the best.

War Front: Turning Point Review

War Front: Turning Point
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a RTS that is fun to play and is guaranteed to get your adrenalin pumping once you get into the action. It has 3 different difficulty settings, (easy, normal and hard) and it is playable as a single person or as a multiplayer; this review is of the single player game.

The game setting is the European/Eastern Asia theater during World War 2; however the game throws in a few "what if" scenarios and a few futuristic weapons to make the game a little different that your normal WW2 game.

As with any game there are positives and negatives...let me explain

The Pros:

1.)Non linear game play; although you must complete certain objectives to complete a mission, how and in what order you do it is completely up to you. You can also play the game from either the American or German point of view (with completely different scenarios). This gives the game alarge degree of replayability

2.)Your three main "heroes" ofthis game have upgradeable skills, giving them special talents to help you in certain situations. Some of these skill are passive (in effect all the time) and some are active (only begin when you click on an icon and only last a specific period of time)

3.)Some buildings, and airports have upgrades available once specific conditions have be achieved.

4.)Easy save game at any point. (recommended to do it often)

5.)Grouping of infantry and vehicles to allow you to facilitate deployment of your troops.

6.)Production buildings and airports can be set up to continually produce the same group of units that you've instructed; this allows you to continue to make tanks, infantry and airplanes while you "try" to concentrate on running the war effort.(not as easy as you'd think)

7.)Some "hot keys" are available to facilitate commands to certain units.

8.)You have some limited amount of time to set up your forces when the mission starts, thenit is intense, nonstop action from there to the end of a mission.

9.)Use of the "pause" button to stop all the action; however, you can still look anywhere on the map to assess what needs your most urgent attention.

The Cons:

1.)Initially, you can easily feel overwhelmed and become frustrated with this game;trying to complete mission objectives while being continually attacked on several different fronts at the same time. The action at times is so hectic it borders on chaotic; it's just hard to know which major problem to try to fix first.

2.)The instructional manual, although complete, is very basic and simplistic to say the least, when compared to the scope of activity you are going to have to deal with in the missions.

3.)The tutorial covers only very basic strategies, or so it would seem, (see "suggestions" below) in its instruction, and hardly prepares you for what's to come. Learning how to use the tutorial to its full potential will help immensely.

4.)I could not get the game to install initially; after an hour of fiddling, I eventually went to the web site to the FAQ (frequently asked questions) section only to discover that the game may not install with an active firewall; once I'd disabled my firewall, it installed without any problem. I just can't understand why a potential problem such as this would not be mentioned in the instruction booklet.

Suggestions:

1.The tutorial is deeper and more useful than it initially appears. On the section on fighting, you should take your time to learn how to use your buildings to produce infantry and vehicles that have the same group number (for example you might have a combination of 20 infantry and tanks in group No.1 and a group of 6 fighter planes and bombers in group 2, etc.) This will allow you to send an entire group (instead of individual units) off to battle withone or two mouse clicks.

2.In the tutorial on turrets and airfields, there is another group of enemies that are not in obvious view on the map; if you look for them with a plane you'll find them, then you'll have a real battle to practice on the tutorial session. Of all the help available on learning how to play this game, this was the most useful.

3."loop" you building units to continually produce infantry, airplanes and tanks. You will not have time to do this once the action starts.

4.)use the "pause" button to get time to think (when all is chaos around you). Although you can't make any changes during "pause" you can use the time to determine what needs to be done first once you "unpause" the game.

A great game, with a huge and somewhat difficult learning curve; however once you've mastered the basic game controls it's a real blast.5 Stars.R. Nicholson

Dragon Ball: Raging Blast Review

I wanted a DBZ game for my PS3 and after finding out it had a bit more sagas than Burst Limit, I got this.

The camera angles are beyond terrible. Good luck to anyone focusing on your opponent when you end up near a wall.

Buttons/commands won't work most of the time and that really sucks when you need them the most.

There is only ONE set of combos per character so 9 times out of 10 you'll end up using Super attacks just to finish the battle.

No screams when they power up. wtf it just looks hella weird.

Battles/playing with characters in the story mode idgaf about. (I really could have cared less about Yamcha/Tien/Chiaotzu fighting a dead Ginyu Force)

Not worth replaying the story mode over and over to get stars. (Goku's alternate outfits are not THAT important)

WAIT until this game is 19.99$ or less, or wait for the sequal which is hopefully 100x better

NBA 2K7 Review

NBA 2K7
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Smooth as silk fluid gameplay and animations are the stars of this show.Decent Next-gen graphics that cannot be fully appreciated unless on high-def.Those who say otherwise, must be kidding. There is no way the original Xbox or PS2 could handle such renderings. Renderings, animations, shooting and dribbling styles are practically personalized for every player. Each character looks remarkably like their real life counterparts (in a somewhat cartoon-like fashion) with a few scary exceptions mentioned in other reviews found here.It looks like a souped up arcade in the tone of graphics and powerful fluidness that plays strictly like a sim.And this is where the game falls on its face if you are coming off of Live.

The controls at first chance seem unnatural, clumsy and backwards.Pulling off jukes, crossovers etc is not controlled by the right-stick and who knows why. Instead the signature 2K Isomotion (fancy dribbling) as they like to call it is handled by holding down the right trigger (the one you are already using for running, turbo) and using the left-stick (yes, the one that you are already using for movement). Jabbing the left stick around in specified directions while holding the right-trigger will cause your player to perform crossovers, jukes and other various ankle breakers.

However, if you are like me and you are coming off of Live -- you'll continually find yourself going to the right stick to pull off such moves.Which instead shoots the rock as the right-stick is assigned to the shot-stick (isomotion for a variation of Js, post-ups, lay-ups and dunks).Imagine how frightening this can be at first for former Live players.I'm dribbling down the court with Nash, I go to pull a cross over on my opponent to give me some space to make a run yet instead (accidently hit the right stick) I fork up a brick well beyond the arch.Left astonished and with my pants down, the D grabs the easy board and goes for the fast break on the return.I want to stomp on my controller into pieces before the end of the first quarter of my first game.

Now, don't get me wrong -- the shot stick actually starts to make sense after a few disastrous plays but comes with a heavy learning curve. One that is very awarding when succesful and even more so if ever truly
mastered. But it'll take some time.Your first drained three with your favorite star (ie Nash for Cash)feels like an overwhelming accomplishment in itself.Remember, this game is a sim and a strict one at that.If you are looking for the easy ride and mediocre learning curve, look elsewhere.

This is the golf of NBA video games;Frustrating, demands devotion and will kick your a__ as soon as you think you have it figured out.But with great challenge comes great awards and that couldn't be any truer here. Each play down the court will have to be well planned and executed; this game leaves little room for error. The days of 2nd nature, almost thoughtless gameplay have been throw out the window.Live fans will shreak in horror as I have and will want to run the otherway. Give 2k7 some time, patience and little bit of effort to grow accustom to the controls and you may find this game more awarding than any other you played before it.The shot stick is very intuitive and maybe too much so for its own good. The days of one button for every type of shot are long gone.Yet realize the shot stick allows you (the player) to almost fully control exactly what your player executes that is very dynamic to each scenario.Instance:Take the ball down w/ Nash (ofcourse), I cross-over dribble (pushing the left stick in the opposite direction of my ball hand while holding the right trigger), open up some space, I lead pass (w/ the B button) to Marion who jukes left and spins right (Isomotion glory) and drives to the hole.Shaq comes to meet the drive to the hole, I pump fake with Marion (quick jab on the shot-stick) and throw a behind the back pass (Right trigger + A button) to Stoudemire who throws down a power dunk or reverse or cocked slam (fancy) based on which direction I throw the shot-stick while holding the right trigger. Or I could go for the layup by moving the shot-stick w/o holding the right trigger.Or throw it back to Nash, pull down on the shot-stick and release at the peak of his jump for the tri-facto.

Case in point, the controls are difficult to master but enable endless possibilities and that is where all the thrills and fun of this game come from -- but not without painful frustration to learn them.

Notes: Isomotion can be tough to chew, getting used to the left-stick to both move and perform isomotion jukes, dribbles will never quite feel like 2nd nature.Dunks and lay-ups are way too difficult to pull off,
I love the variety and options but missing easy buckets happen too often.Free-throws are intuitive as you use the shot-stick (pull down and release at the verge of forward momentum for a perfect shot, every player has his own unique style for shooting free-throws).

Update: You can use the X button for shooting, easy buckets in the paint, layups and dunking. The dunks, layups and post-ups are more straight-forward than fancy or controlled but if you want the sure-shot bucket in the paint, its usually best to go with the X button than over-complicating the situation with the shot-stick.The shot-stick comes in handy for tri-factos or mid-range jumpers as holding the right stick and then releasing at the peak of the jump feels more natural. It also comes in handy for wide open fast breaks when you want to devestate your opponents with the windmill, power slam, cocked slam or various other fancy dunks. The shot-stick is also useful if your in a scenario that calls for the reverse dunk/layup, tear-drop or various post-up moves (ie hook, fade).

UFC Undisputed 2010 Review

UFC Undisputed 2010
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I thought this game was very well thought out, and very well executed. As soon as I played the game demo off Xbox Live I was hooked. I bought a copy of it and it far outdoes the demo. I've played many of the Fight Night Games, and found them okay, but all together boring when all you do is just repeatedly knock guys out. In this game there are submissions, TKO's, and knockouts, not to mention the extensive ground game, clinch game, cage game, and striking game.

The striking system is excellent, and is ultimately more fun than any regular boxing game, with superman punches, ducking left hooks, and a host of other moves you can train your fighter to learn. The striking system while it still needs some work, you can duck, dodge, and come back with brutal counter attacks.

The submission system, is by far my favourite part of the game, I've knocked pleanty of people out, but there is something about twisting somebody's limbs, until finally screaming in pain they tap. There are so many submissions it's almost impossible for your specific fighter learn them all. The submission system is highly advanced, and is directly tied to your stamina bar. Instead of button mashing for this year's title, the new way to make them tap the mat, is the shining system, in which you rotate the right stick, as clean as fast as possible, to lock in your deadly submission. but don't be fooled submissions can be difficult, but once learned are the most enjoyable thing to do. Learning how your opponents energy and stamina bar relate to the submission, once that is learned, you can in the third round after losing the fight suddenly you put your opponent in rubber guard, and slap on a gogoplata, your opponent taps, and you watch in satisfaction, as you get up bleeding, but the Ultimate winner.

The graphics and smoothness of the game also make this amazing. When you do a flying armbar, it really has the amazing graphics as you jump up, flip your legs around your opponents head, extend your hips, and watch as they collapse and tap in agonizing pain, the graphics are amazing, and when superman punch somebody and watch there mouth guard, and half the blood in their mouth go flying you will know why.

The presentation is great in career mode, and they did a really good job of making you feel like an ultimate figher. There is so much more to this game, but you will have to buy it and find out the rest.
