Guitar Hero Recharge Battery Pack Kit Review

Guitar Hero Recharge Battery Pack Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Guitar Hero Recharge Battery Pack Kit offers an alternate solution for powering your wireless GHIII controller.

The kit consists of a proprietary battery pack (i.e., you can't use it in anything else) and a charger. Both items are very compact - barely bigger than a Zippo lighter. The charger connects to your Xbox via any USB port.I was surprised how quickly it fully recharges a battery pack - from totally dead to totally fresh in about two hours - since it doesn't plug directly into the wall. Also, your Xbox does NOT have to be powered on to charge the battery pack.A fully-charged battery gives you about 10 - 12 hours of play.

My only question is how necessary it really is.I get great battery life using regular alkalines despite playing a few hours just about every day. So it may be months until I recoup the cost of this kit vs. the regular batteries I would have been feeding into the guitar.Plus, this rechargeable pack goes a noticeably shorter amount of time between charges. If you're a heavy-duty player, you may want to invest in a second battery so that you always have a fresh one on hand. But again, that just further dilutes the savings of using rechargeables in the first place.

Wii Nunchuk Cord Free Wireless Adaptor Review

Wii Nunchuk Cord Free Wireless Adaptor
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As of this writing the only place that sells this is online or gamestop (which is where I went to purchase this). With that said, unto the review.

For this review I will mention a few games since those games were used to test this product.

Synopsis:
First of all, I have to say I am glad NYKO has finally addressed the biggest complaint about the nunchuck, that is being attached to the remote and not being wireless. This product converts your existing nunchuck into a cord free unit.It is very easy to configure as all you need to do is get your nunchuck, slide it into place then coil the cord around until you finally connect it to the backside of the unit (just remember that when you are coiling to start from the bottom as it will bulge out a bit and you do not want it to bulge out on the top as you will need that space when you are connecting the unit, you won't understand what I am saying until you actually have the unit so keep this in mind). The unit itself is not heavy and it feels lighter than the remote. The power switch is located in the back and you put the batteries (2 AAA included) on the bottom of the unit.

Setup:
Turning on the unit is done by simply plugging in the small plug-in attachment to your Wii remote, power on the Wii remote then pressing the power button on the cord free attachment and that's all there's to it.Powering off is done by simply turning the remote power off (the cord free unit will blink a few times and then it will shut off altogether).

Testing the unit:
For this portion of the review I have used the following games:

Super Mario Galaxy: Though this isn't the best game to fully test the unit I tested it out to find out how easy it was to play this game.I found it very easy to use since the unit does stand up and I was simply resting the unit on my lap while playing the game and it was very comfortable.

Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles (With NYKO Perfect Shot): This was a big test since I wanted to know whether or not the plug-in fits the perfect shot.It fits the gun, though it's not a perfect fit when compared to how it fits the Wii remote but I can confidently say that the unit and gun fully works with the plug-in attached.I had a blast playing the game since I wasn't restricted with a cord attached to the gun.

Mario and Sonic Olympics: This was another huge test as this game involves a lot of games that requires shaking the nunchuck and I wanted to test how well the unit works with this game.First of all I have to say this is the best test for the unit since every time I play this game with the nunchuck, I usually have the cord hitting my chin and my hands, but with the cord finally gone this is no longer the case and I can enjoyevery game without having to get hit with the cord. This test was what made me decide to score this unit the following:

4.5 Stars

The reason why I deducted .5 star is the price. If the unit was $15 or under I would have no problem giving it 5 stars, but alas this isn't the case.If you do the math a regular nunchuck costs $20 and this unit is $20 bringing the total to $40.Also, NYKO will be releasing a separate Wireless Nunchuck called the Kama Wireless Nunchuck this May and will cost around $30 which is another reason I had to deduct from the final score (watch for my review for the Kama Wireless Nunchuck in May).In conclusion this unit is very good and I highly recommend it for anyone who is tired of the nunchuck cord.Battery life is estimated 60 hours on 2 AAA batteries.

Dragon Ball: Raging Blast Review

Dragon Ball: Raging Blast

I wanted a DBZ game for my PS3 and after finding out it had a bit more sagas than Burst Limit, I got this.

The camera angles are beyond terrible. Good luck to anyone focusing on your opponent when you end up near a wall.

Buttons/commands won't work most of the time and that really sucks when you need them the most.

There is only ONE set of combos per character so 9 times out of 10 you'll end up using Super attacks just to finish the battle.

No screams when they power up. wtf it just looks hella weird.

Battles/playing with characters in the story mode idgaf about. (I really could have cared less about Yamcha/Tien/Chiaotzu fighting a dead Ginyu Force)

Not worth replaying the story mode over and over to get stars. (Goku's alternate outfits are not THAT important)

WAIT until this game is 19.99$ or less, or wait for the sequal which is hopefully 100x better

Fallout 3 Game Add-On Pack: Operation Anchorage and The Pitt Review

Fallout 3 Game Add-On Pack: Operation Anchorage and The Pitt

I don't have xbox live myself, so the Game Add-On Pack is great (allowing me to get dlc that I'm not able to anyways). The Pitt and Operation: Anchorage are both great expansion packs (although they're fairly short). I really appreciate Bethesda putting this out there for those of us who can't get the dlc anyways. I'm really looking forward to August to get the Broken Steel and Point Lookout Add-On pack.

Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat Review

Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
There is no question about the Nintendo Wii, and the appeal it has brought to so many gamers everywhere. With the success of Wii smashes like Super Mario Galaxy, Wii Sports and Excitebots: Trick Racing, gamers are finding new ways to have fun. But, Nintendo has also brought that into play with the Gamecube games as well. Many gamers have either easily forgotten how great these titles were then and didn't get that chance, or just chhose other game systems like the Playstation 2 or original Xbox or Xbox 360 titles. Surprisingly, many Wii owners have also forgotten that the Wii does play Gamecube titles as well like Legend Of Zelda: Wind Waker and Luigi's Mansion too. But, Nintendo has decided recently to re-release some of these Gamecube greats' with new play controls. They've done that with Mario Power Tennis recently, and now with another Gamecube classic that simply says the DK beat is back.

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, one of Nintendo's most classic and entertaining classic from the Nintendo Gamecube era, has returned for the Wii. The classic platformer really was a huge winner with the use of the classic DK bongo controllers from the Gamecube that came with the Gamecube edition, which were not just fun, they brought more of a rhythm to Donkey Kong's audiences. The platforming game has been beautifully remastered, as you control Donkey Kong across many different kingdoms, collecting bunches of bananas, and trying to battle foes like furious mastadons, who shot laser shots through their trunks, and Kong bosses that you'd have to box for the title like the Sumo Kong, and killer buzzards shooting bombs at you from the sky.

The control here however takes a whole lot to get used to this time. If you've mastered the beat of the game with the DK Bongos from the Gamecube, you'd have a whole lot to get used too all over again with the new control. The DK bongo controllers aren't compatable in this edition. While the control is different here, it takes a whole lot more to get used to with simple movements, with the Wii-mote and nunchuck, because it brings more of the simple platform movement, but you honestly don't have the fun of beating the drums sadly, because they won't work with the Wii version. Nevertheless, the gameplay is absolutely still is entertaining and worth the while for gamers young and old alike.

All in all if you still have Donkey Kong Jungle Beat from the Gamecube and the classic DK bongo controllers, there really won't be any need to get the game for the Wii, because the game will still play on the Wii, because it is Gamecube compatable. But honestly, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is still one of the best Gamecube titles ever, and if you haven't yet played to the beat of D.K.'s heart, then you'll absolutely love this game a whole lot.
