MySims Agents Review

MySims Agents

Overall we give EA MySims Agents 5 out of 5 fun game play, a great story line, challenging puzzles, and good interactivity. We love the fact that it is so well suited for younger kids, encourages reading, reading comprehension, deductive reasoning, and problem solving. We would highly recommend this game for Wii owners with children over 6 years old. And oh, by the way, it wasn't just the kids who loved the game. We've been having a great time playing it too!

We did a full, in-depth review of this game at our blog and it's all from a mom's perspective (well, mostly). Check it out here: [...]

Peggle Dual Shot Review

Peggle Dual Shot
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was so happy to hear they were putting Peggle on the DS. Considering the small size, I think the graphics are good, it's hard to compare with a full sized PC screen. The game is still fun. The only complaints I have is the "close up" feature can be annoying when you are trying to just move the pointer slightly. Also, there is a glitch in some levels where the pointer moves to the top of the screen and you can't move it (or it is a flaw in my own game card, I don't know). You have to wait for it move itself out, kind of like unlocking or something. In a timed game, this would be extremely frustrating. All in all, a fun game if you like Peggle in the full version.

Product Description:
Do you have what it takes to become a Peggle master? Found out as you navigate a series of ball-bouncing challenges in Peggle Dual Shot for Nintendo DS from PopCap Games and lauded developer Q Entertainment. You'll need luck and skill on your side to score your best as you bounce balls, perfect tricky shots, and engage with real Masters in this action-packed, family-friendly game.

Bounce balls off colored pegs to clear the board. View larger.

Choose from a variety of game play modes. View larger. Big, Arcade-Style Challenges for Strategic Thinkers
Fans of the Peggle PC series will quickly recognize the forces at work in this chaotic, pachinko-style pinball game. You'll need to practice using the stylus to fine-tune your aim while calculating the perfect moment for each release, and you'll get a rush out of sending balls flying at strategically located bricks, pegs, and obstacles to score points and conquer a broad array of challenges. The advanced physics of previous Peggle games is now at work in this DS edition, which means the trajectory of each bouncing ball is calculated in real time, and the results of a shot may change if your aim is off by even one pixel. The precision of your angles also means that there's quite a bit of math-practice hidden in what seems like a purely entertaining game. Watching what happens after you let the ball go is a big part of the fun, since even the most skilled players are sure to get a few tantalizing, unlikely bounces each round.
All-New Underground Challenges
One place fans of the PC-based Peggles won't have a leg up is facing the parts of this game that are set in the Bonus Underground -- an exclusive, DS-specific addition to the Peggle universe. All in all, with 120 levels, two full-featured adventure modes, and 90 challenge stages to try and conquer, you can be sure that Peggle Dual Shot brings more than it's fair share of challenges to the portable NDS system. There's even a duel mode that lets you go head to head with the computer or take on a friend and establish grounds for bragging rights.
Unique Artwork and Magical Masters
In the course of your training, you'll also enjoy the backdrop set by a colorful, fantastical world, and you'll meet ten unique Peggle Masters. From Bjorn, the Super Guide unicorn, to the Renfield Pumpkin, master of Spooky Ball, these quirky, personable characters have their own specialties and magic powers, adding depth and a little bit of back story accent the strategic elements of each contest. And the unique, illustration-inspired artwork is packed with bold colors that really ground the Peggle's magical feeling in a world all its own.

The first three games were pretty fun to play.Beyond the Call of Duty is a bit harder than the 1st 2nd or 3rd.Strike Force, a first person shooter, was just WEAK and LAME.I loved the originality of the original gameplay.Youve got a thief, spy, sniper, badass green beret wearing guy named Tiny, a UDT/Frogman and an Engineer. All british commandos, but hey thats where we the U.S.A. got the idea to form its own Special Forces. The controls suck since it is on a computer, but overall its pretty good once you get it down. You have to save your game after pretty much every last little thing you do because when you die thats it.You have to start over from the start of the mission. This game requires some thinking too.You can't just run around killing everybody. You have to hide the dead bodies or the gagged soldiers from the enemies site. You have to be quick on your feet yet SILENT about it or you will be caught. Its a stealth oriented game after all. You can steal the enemies clothes, use demo, kill them from long range, use the deflatable boat/zodiac, etc. All the characters skills will all be needed and used in each and every single mission. There is no using just one man to finish the level. You gotta use them as a team in order to proceed in the game.Too bad they dont make them anymore like the first three for the newer consoles. These games are fun to play.Commandos 2: Men of Courage is the overall best one out of all three, but the third one comes in almost at a tie.Commandos 3 is shorter and lacks some hotkeys to use.

I had only ever played the first 3D Prince of Persia on the PS2.But this trilogy is awesome and still works in Windows 7 x64.Even in widescreen with widescreen hacks.

I also played these games using the XBOX 360 controller. The first had some issues with the analog controller (walking when I wanted to run) but it was not too bad and I was able to compensate.

Vanquish Review

Vanquish
Average Reviews:

Attitude. This game screams ATIITUDE. I'm a college student, so I obviously don't have a lot of money to blow, but I decided to take a plunge and buy this game Day 1. I was not dissapointed. If you're looking for an engaging storyline with deep characters, look elsewhere. All you'll find here is a big ol' can of whoop ass. This is by no means a bad thing, in fact this is a good thing because this game knows it's an action game and it doesn't pretend to be anything else. Imagine, if you will, the best action movie you've ever seen. Now, multiply that by 10. Add a cigarette smoking badass in a battle suit that enhances his every ability. On top of that, add huge mechs who want your blood. Now add Russians to the mix. That's what Vanquish is in a nut shell. I'm positive that many people will give this game a bad review because it isn't an arty game. This game is unashamed to be ridiculous and over the top. In fact, it revels in it. And to be quite honest, once you start the game you can't help but feel like a badass who's shooting everything in sight. Is this game worth 60 bucks? Hell yes. If you have some extra cash in your bank account, buy this game. You will not regret it.

Virtual City Review

Virtual City
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This game's a gem! Without getting too complicated, I think it offers a bit more depth and contents than a lot of other casual games in this genre. And something else I find rare and precious: replay value!

If I wanted to make a comparison, I'd say the mechanics of Virtual City remind me most of Transport Tycoon (in a much, much simplified way). Although you do get to build your little city, it's not so much a building game as it is a transportation and resource-management game.

There are lots of things you can build in the game though: roads, houses, decorations, bus stations, utility buildings (fire station, hospital, tech stations, recycling drop spots...) and 7 whole production chains (i.e. from wheat to pies). You can even modify the existing layout of a map (to a certain extent) by bulldozing existing roads and wooded areas, then rebuild it differently.

The buildings and vehicles' graphics change when we upgrade them, which is much nicer than just having a certain amount of stars next to them.

At the start of each level, you are given a set of goals to fulfill. The game consists mostly in bringing the required goods to the appropriate buildings (or neighboring cities), which in turn will produce another type of goods needed by another building, or fulfill a goal. The goals are varied: goods deliveries, population amount and/or happiness, income, special buildings to be built, etc.

The game's very relaxed. You can try to beat the "Expert" time if you want, but you won't be penalized in any way if you don't complete a level within that time frame -- you can still come back to a particular level any time to play it again and try to beat the timer if you feel like it. So, in this manner, the game is not at all stressful, and not even "clicky". You can just relax, enjoy the beautiful graphics and have fun building up your city and transportation network.

Between levels (50 in all!), new buildings, upgrades, and other types of improvements (i.e. a hot air balloon to be launched from the plaza) are unlocked for you to purchase.

The campaign game plays on various maps in 5 different locations, many of which large enough to be scrollable.

Now, one of the most important thing to me: replay value. For one thing, there's already replay value in the way that you can replay any level individually as I mentioned above, whether you want to improve your score or beat the timer or just try a different city layout. But also, every time you finish all the levels in a particular location, it opens a very large Sandbox map in that location where you can pretty much do whatever you want. Endless fun! :)

Anyway, I really enjoy this game. It's relaxing, very pretty, very entertaining, and I can tell I'll be playing it for a long time without getting tired of it. Well worth the small price tag for sure!

I've played Virtual City on Vista 32-bit, and currently playing it on Windows 7 64-bit. Works fine with either operating system.

I'd read all of the reviews on every PC Slots game here on Amazon & was worried about all the problems that others seemed to be having. I'm running VISTA, so that limited my options substantially.
I found this new double pack (of two previously released games & I hoped that Masque had worked out all the bugs when they reconfigured this disk for PC (Vista) & Mac.
It's GREAT! It loaded perfectly, (in about 4 minutes) and I haven't had one crash or needed any patches.
I love the games.
I love the "higher payout option" because, unlike in Vegas, it's fun to win and win big :)
Great graphics.
Great color.
Easy switching from game to game.
Some fun, and some lame bonus rounds.
All and all, [...] I got twice the amount of games & I couldn't be happier.
If you're looking for a slots game to work with Vista, I highly recommend this one.
ENJOY!

This is a cute game, but it takes a lot of time, because you aren't playing it in different levels. It's an ongoing time thing with the members of a tribe. When you aren't playing the game, it's running in the background and your villagers are still working. When you check back the next day, something new has happened. It's not the type of game you can just pick up, beat a few levels, and then move onto something else. You have to check back with it regularly, otherwise your tribe may have starved or something - it's time consuming! If you are on a computer regularly, then I'd recommend this game, but if you're looking for a quick, fun game you can play for a few minutes and then leave, it's not for you.Cute game though!

Saddle Up: Time To Ride Review

Saddle Up: Time To Ride
Average Reviews:

Saddle Up is lots of fun. It's kind of sad that you can't keep on taking care of the horses after you finished Adventure like me. At least you can still ride in shows but the funny guy who talks in the back isn't there :( The wheel thing is really hard but here's the code because I couldn't solve it and had to cheat! DON'T READ THIS IF YOU DON'T WANT THE GAME TO BE SPOILED! 7 clovers ,4 heart,9 diamond, 10 heart,10 spades, 2 clover and 7 diamonds. I got it now thanks to cheat.com and the people who post!;).The ending was really STUPID. Lucy(you) just reaches in and pulls out an ugly necklace. Then you're done! Graphics are the best I've seen. This game is better than all the other games I have: Horse Illustrated CHampion Season ( This is a pretty boring game) and Let's Ride Horse and Pony ( Never buy this one).
It was fun to solve the mystery( Stuff like catching the loose horse, talking to other riders, and going to the vet) The compotitions and challenges were really hard at first but you will LOVE them after you're use to them. You win a horse when you win a compotition. That's fun because you can choose and name it. I never take care of my horses when I go to shows, just the one or two horses I want to ride. It's not worth the time. I had alot of trouble with the shoes so my sister put this game on another computer and it works now. Matheui (Is this a French spelling of Matthew?) looks like and walks like a rubber figure sort of and his hair is all in his face in these long strands. Eww! Garance and Christobald (What knd of names is that?)both have t much hair in their eyes. It looks almost believable on Garance because she is a girl but Christo looks like he's wearing a hair mask on one side of his thin face. Akkico looked pretty good and Lucy walks like a snob (Also pretty slowly). This is a great game and you should totally get it if you love horses like crazy. I wouldn't recomend it for kids 9-? because the challenges can be really hard. Big Hint: This Game is NOT planned for boys! If you are a boy and want this game, be prepared to be playing as a girl!!!!Great Game. Buy Now!!

I bought this for my four kids to play and watch, and all were enthralled by the graphics and multiple levels. They are all big Scrat fans, so they loved that Scrat could "go ninja" and knock out bad guys.Lots of little puzzles and mini-games inside the levels. It took us a long time to finish - the big spider level was the hardest! And I thought the ending would have had a better finish than what it did, but it was still a blast to play - similar gameplay to Sierra's "The Hobbit".My seven year old has already made it pretty far - keyboard configurations are a breeze.I would definitiely recommend this game.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004: A Century of Flight Review

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004: A Century of Flight
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've owned every version of MS Flight Simulator, since years before Microsoft bought Sublogic's Flight Simulator and made it the basis for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
I've spend many entertaining hours playing Microsoft Flight Simulator, and for the most part, they've added new and very, appealing and worth-while features in each new release. This is also the case in Flight Simulator 2004. I upgraded the day FS 2004 was released, and I've never looked back.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 is a highly entertaining, very realistic looking, and quite realistic acting flight simulator. Overall, I consider it the best Flight Simulator out there. Some people will argue that X-Plane has more realistic flight models and they're probably right. MS FS however, is a close second, and when it comes to the overall gaming experience and look and feel of everything - the MS FS is a clear winner!
IF YOU'RE UPGRADING FROM FS 2002:
* Greatly improved dynamic weather system - You can now have the system automatically update itself in the background with real weather conditions as often as every 15 minutes. The clouds look a lot more realistic than in FS 2002.
* New weather themes - Gives you both static and dynamic weather themes such as a brewing thunderstorm etc.
* Enhanced ATC (Air Traffic Control) - Altitude changes in flight, ATC at all airports, request new flight plan en-route (especially useful if your current one gets cancelled).
* Better 3D virtual cockpits
* Some scenery enhancements, such as signs on taxiways. Most scenery changes are quite subtle.
* Old GPS system has finally been scrapped, and instead replaced by two real life looking Garmin GPS's (slightly stripped down versions, but quite impressive still - Color and all).
* The rain has been improved - Looks more realistic.
* New planes of course - all of them are historic aircraft such as Douglas DC-3, the "Kitty Hawk", the "Spirit of St. Louis", Piper Cub etc.
IF YOU'RE NEW TO MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR, OR YOU HAVEN'T UPGRADED IN A WHILE:
* Real-World weather - with dynamic updates and dynamic weather changes. Multiple cloud layers. Plain and simple, the clouds look fantastic!!! The rain and snow need some improvement, but is still very good.
* Worldwide scenery with accurate 3D terrain.
* Scenery Auto-Generation - Buildings are generated on the fly based on what type of area you're flying over.
* More than 24000 worldwide airports - a lot of them very realistic looking.
* 2D and 3D cockpits.
* Various types of planes - Boeing 737, 747, 777, Learjet, Cessna 172 and 182, Extra 300, a couple of more propeller planes, a sailplane, a helicopter, and of course all the historic planes that are new to this version.
* Jeppeson NavData database - ILS, VORs, NDB data etc.
* Landmarks all over the world - Eiffel tower, Statue of Liberty, Alcatraz, Empire State Building, USS Nimitz, the Red Square/Kremlin in Moscow etc.
* Multiplayer capability - Can play over network or internet (MSN Zone).
I still miss the World Trade Center Towers, and the Concorde, but realistically enough, they're both gone from this version. *sniff*
Conclusion: I highly recommend this game, both as an upgrade or if you're buying MS FS for the first time... FIVE STARS!!!

The Sims Deluxe Edition Review

The Sims Deluxe Edition
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I put the Sims Deluxe Edition on my Christmas wish list because I wanted to see, once and for all, what was so great about what I guess is the best-selling computer game of all time. Well, I got it for Christmas and have played it a lot since, and I now understand the appeal of it. It is a very open-ended game where you choose the sex of your sim (or sims), what they wear, what sign they are, you choose their name, you choose their job, you choose their house - you give your sim the life you would like to have, pretty much. Once you've made enough money from your job, you can buy cooler and better stuff that will make your sim happier. You can choose the wallpaper, the carpet, the paintings you hang on your walls, and you can even build an expansion on to your existing house, or just build a new one altogether. This part of the game is so entertaining for me, that it has almost inspired me to become an interior decorator.
My one complaint about the Sims is this: I decided to create two characters based on me and my boyfriend, and had them living in the same house together. Things were fine at first, but then after they both got jobs, they never saw each other any more, and neither one had time to do anything other than work - socializing became a chore I had to squeeze in after their long day at work, and just having fun (like playing on the computer, or watching TV) was hard to do. Since the game's clock runs so that every one second equals one minute in the Sim world, it takes 15 seconds for me to watch the character to walk out to get the mail, but it takes the sim 15 MINUTES to get the mail, which is a bit unrealistic - and it makes the game annoying because it takes so long to do little chores, all you have time for is sleep and work. (Actually, maybe it IS realistic.) Once my two sims were really in love and kissed many times, a little bubble popped up and asked if we should have a baby. I said yes, and boy was that a mistake! It is virtually impossible for sims to have babies. The baby has to be constantly taken care of for a total of three days before it becomes a child. If you so much as take a break to get something to eat, the social worker comes and takes the baby away. This is, of course, after one of your sims already lost their job to take care of the thing. So, while it may be cool for your sims to have a kid, I recommend waiting until you are filthy rich, so that one sim can stay home and care for it around the clock. (You can hire a maid, you can hire a gardener, but you can't get a babysitter?!)
However, even with the tiny little annoyances this game may have, it's still a great game. Who knew that watching a computer character read a book could be so entertaining? I would recommend the Deluxe Edition to first-time sim-ers (like me) because it also contains the expansion pack Livin' Large, which provides more houses, more items, more enjoyment. Enjoy!

Well I tried the game(torrent), and the following things are missing from previous 18 wos games.
1.no more gas stations
2.no police
3.no sleepieness
4.no dealerships
5.no repair shops
6.can not hire drivers
7.don't have the freedom to go to which company hq you want to take loads from
8.money system doesn't exist in this game, it's now a points reward
9.your truck is different for every delivery(you don't own a truck).
and to conclude this review, it's just redundant gameplay. YAY!

In the game you are givin a job, you have to choose which is best for you based on your skills. You can choose a job with alot of points reward but the difficulty and distance of range will be hard.

In the world map there is north america (canada), south america, and my favorite austraila. There will be expansion maps just like Euro truck simulator.

Overall it is a good game, great graphics,NOT SURE IF YOU SHOULD BUY it but rather download it and show SCS that gamers matter not money, I guess I had my hopes up a little too high after waiting 2 years. I just wish it was like 18 wos ALH with those great graphics.

Medal of Honor Heroes Review

Medal of Honor Heroes
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This game has been on my "Must buy" list for about three months now.And picking it up today was a sigh of relief, almost.

When you first turn on the game, you are struck by the music and the main menu. Once again, EA NAILED IT! Great MUSIC, and the Menu is easily navigatible.

I thought it'd be best to learn the control scheme in Skirmish mode rather than try my luck at playing online......once again, WOW! It was as if I had picked up a PS2 controller. The guys at EA got this right! There are a lot of small "shortcut" buttons that allow for all the functions that the PS2 Medal of Honor Games have. For example, double tapping the right D-pad button will automatically switch to grenades from your weapon--very handy in a heated online game!

As far as the Multiplayer, which is why 99% of people are buying this game, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!I was shocked to see that there was already 32 people online, and I jumped into a game with no hassle. One thing I love about the game is the ability to pick up weapons! This is very handy when you are regularly a sniper, but at the moment, the Bazooka that the guy you just killed was carrying looks very appetizing.

Another GREAT feature that adds a lot of strategy to the game is the Sprint function.By normal ways your soldier will walk, and if you NEED to run, you tap, and then hold the up analog stick. By doing this your character will sprint, BUT he will also lose his energy (which is represented by a meter in the lower left corner). Once he regains his energy you may sprint again. This is very much like real life, and is a healthy alternative to those other games that let you sprint continuously around maps with irregard to the fact that humans, and especially weapon-carrying soldiers DO get tired, and slow down.

Really, I can't say anything bad about the game AT ALL.My only advice would be to turn the sensitivity of the analog stick and directional buttons up ALL the way, because they were a bit sluggish when just starting.

The maps in this game, were something I didn't cover to well, but they absolutely ROCK! My favorite so far is the bridge map! I sniped 4 Nazi-Scums on that map in about 2 minutes.

Got to go kill some Nazis!!!!

Art Academy Review

Art Academy
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a repackage (with changes) of a product that was originally available as two separate titles in the downloadable DSiWare line. I didn't play those titles but from what I've read this is very similar, so much so that most others online don't recommend the purchase of both the retail and downloadable versions. The downloadables are still available as "Art Academy First Semester" and "Art Academy Second Semester", but both are among the higher priced titles at 800 points each ($8.00/ea.), particularly since this title is now on shelves for a few dollars more as a cart and offers a bit more content.

First off, I'm not an artist - in fact I can hardly draw which is part of what drew me to this originally. The lessons start off fairly simply and from the beginning I felt like I was creating images that were much better than I expected. While I've really enjoyed the title, the lessons section is fairly short and clearly not meant to be the game's breadth or replay value. The replay is in the Free Paint mode- which somehow manages to include a nice array of tools and options while staying fun and easy to use. Players can get inspiration either from a small library of stock images or those with DSi units can take photos and use them in game.

The lessons that are there are excellent and easy to follow. Basic technique is included with helpful images and references to both historically important artists and techniques. The overall effect of most paintings is more impressionistic, which is actually more forgiving for the beginner. Those wishing to create more realistic images will probably not be satistified with the level of detail possible, though a zoom mode does help with control and small areas. I'm guessing however that those capable of realistic drawings are probably already using more sophisticated tools.

A surprising element is the sound in the game. The quiet sound effects and soft music add to the relaxed mood of the title. For once I've found myself leaving the sound up rather than turning it off as I do with many DS games.

The biggest problem with this title is that there is no way to get the images you create, in either the lessons or in the free draw mode, off of the DS. They can be saved to the DS itself, but not to an SD card so there's no way to move the images to a PC for instance, or to print them. This is a huge frustration and a bewildering exclusion since apparently the first downloadable version of this title had this feature. This alone could kill the replay value of the title since who wants to spend a lot of time creating images in Free Play and then not be able to do anything with them? If this one feature had been added this game would likely be getting better reviews in the game press- I would certainly have rated it at least one star higher.

Other more minor issues-
- The early mini lessons limit the tools available to the player to the same ones that were available in the original lessons. So if you've moved on and are used to using, for example, the controls for the amount of paint or water on the brush, and you try to do a mini lesson where that's not available it's not only frustrating but it feels like the game is actually keeping the user from continuing to learn by building skills through experience.

- The images in the lessons and mini-lessons are not available in the reference gallery. This is a silly exclusion, as it would have taken next to no space on the cart to include them and it would have offered the player the complete toolset to try to repaint images without either the aforementioned tool limitations or the instruction. It would have been an incentive to try to repaint the lessons on a player's own and compare results, increasing educational and replay value.

- All lessons would have benefited from including a listing of the steps taken for each type of drawing or painting that could be referred to later. This would have helped learning to draw/paint in general and in getting through the mini-lessons to cement the process of sketching, shading, etc. The game provides some short instruction reminders in the mini-lessons but they're often not as helpful to the really inexperienced artist.Because I didn't play the mini-lessons right after the main lessons I found myself forgetting the steps for layering color to create depth.

- There's no way to trace an image. While a grid system teaches proportion control, it would have been nice to be able to move the reference image to the touch screen for undersketching.

- You can't go back and forth between the sketching and the painting tools. Once you choose to move into painting, you no longer have access to the pencils which is limiting.

While it seems like I have a lot of problems with the product, it's actually been really enjoyable and surprisingly relaxing. If only there were a way to move images off the DS I could see myself using this as a portable mini sketching and painting tool, but sadly I find myself wondering if I should have opted for the online versions with less features overall, but the ability to export. I would love to see another version of this product with a greater number of lessons and the issues above fixed. Either way I would recommend some version of this product to friends, as to which one, I'd suggest they go online and weigh the options.

Cooking Mama 2: Dinner With Friends Review

Cooking Mama 2: Dinner With Friends
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Cooking Mama series can do no wrong by me. These are near perfect games because you get exactly what you're expecting, and then some. As the title suggests, Cooking Mama 2 is a cooking game with 80 recipes from around the world, including favorites like kimchee and pancakes. You prepare food in steps, with Mama giving you helpful hints and scores along the way. The over-the-top cutesy graphics and intuitive gameplay make this a favorite with kids, but there's finesse involved that even adults will find frustrating. These games are perfect for the Achiever in your life, and Cooking Mama 2 pushes the idea further, adding unlockable customizations to your kitchen and Mama's wardrobe.

The most impressive feature of the Cooking Mama titles are their utilization of Nintendo hardware. Cooking Mama 2 continues to caress the DS with innovative stylus play. Move your stylus around a meat grinder's handle to make it go. Crack an egg by drawing a line to the bowl - slowly, or you'll wind up with egg on your hand. Blow into the microphone to ensure a pot of boiling water won't boil over. There are several dozen different mechanics available, and most of them are easy to grasp, but difficult to master. Most of the preparation requires that you beat the clock, but if you chop without stopping, or pull a piece of meat out of the frier at just the right moment, you can receive bonuses. This makes basic gameplay a snap, and advanced gameplay an ART.

After you've unlocked some recipes, you can cook for Mama's friends. Mama won't give you hints on what you should do, but since you've worked through the recipe at least once, you won't need hints. As a result, preparing food for Mama's friends is a much speedier process, and the rewards or penalties are greater. If you mess up when you're cooking for Mama's friends, Mama's not there to help you and your preparation is cut short before you can finish. If you do well, you receive presents and can unlock special items for customizing your game.

You can customize Mama's dress, accessories, the appearance of her kitchen, and the color of all the kitchen utensils you use in the game. There are 10 dress types (with several color options each), 5 accessories, and 5 kitchen settings to unlock. I like customizing everything to match to an unnatural degree, but many players will love dressing up Mama in wacky lemon earrings and strange cheerleader outfits. Not every friend you impress will unlock an item - sometimes the presents are just nice things to look at that don't stay in your game, like a kitten or a treasure chest.

As with previous releases, you can practice any part of a recipe, and set records for yourself in specific preparation techniques. Both Cooking Mama 1 and 2 for the DS offer wireless play, so you can challenge your friends to an egg-cracking contest. This isn't as cool as Cooking Mama Cookoff for the Wii, where you can execute an entire recipe against friends, but there's still something very appealing about proclaiming yourself the Queen of the Deep Fryer and laying the smackdown in an egg-cracking competition.

There are a few annoying parts of the game. Bonuses are now meaningful - each one you get earns you one star out of 5, and for every 5 stars, you get a present. But the presents aren't unlocked items, they're just cute graphic rewards. Calculating these bonuses takes a lot of time, and the accompanying music is very loud. It's nice that the bonuses have some kind of reward, but I'd prefer points or records to an overkill of praise. Some of the mechanics are still a little too hard to master. I find stewing and simmering to be a pain, because you have to wait for the food the food to cook until it's reached the green part of the progress meter, but you also have to control temperature and stir - not too often - to make sure the food doesn't pass the green sweet spot on the meter and remains exactly there until time is up. Adjusting the temperature of the stove and stirring will wildly change the food's progress meter, so it's very difficult to do with respect to the timer.

This is not my favorite Cooking Mama title, but the improvements significantly enhance the replay value and enjoyability of the game. Within a release or two, this game will be perfect, deadly addictive, and completely free of design flaws. Let's hope the world doesn't run out of interesting recipes in the mean time!

Fire Pro Wrestling Returns Review

Fire Pro Wrestling Returns
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Fire Pro Wrestling is a really old wrestling series from Japan that has been around since the early 90s. So far only 2 versions have only ever been released in America, both of them on GBA.

Agetec decided to bring this two year old Japanese wrestling game to the states recently, and I couldn't be more grateful.

Yes this game looks bad, but the graphics are not where it shines. It is all about the amazing gameplay and extreme customization.

Some people may complain that their favorite WWE superstars are missing, but they are not. All your favorite WWE stars are there under a different alias, and if they do happen to be missing you can create them.

For $15 this is something any wrestling fan should pick up. It's amazingly deep and way better then the latest WWE game.
