(More customer reviews)A table game player myself, I tend to look down on slot players with derision.These one arm bandits live up to their name by being specifically programmed to take your money (which explains why there are so many of them in a casino) and I just have a hard time understanding the appeal.Slot players conjure up visions of laboratory rats pushing on a bar in some pavlovian experiment in order to get their food pellet.
That said, I know a few slot addicts and this game was a recent birthday present.I have to give Masque a thumbs up for taking the initiative to license actual casino slots from IGT (the 500lb gorilla in the slot manufacturing category) and they have done a fairly good job in recreating these slots for your home pc.Minus the obvious lack of actual cash being paid for hitting the jackpot, you get a real slot experience in many popular slots, including Double Diamond, Blazing 7's, Balloon Bars, Wild Cherry and more.These work like the real machines, too, meaning for instance the diamonds in Double Diamond move up and down towards the paylines as they do in the real thing (unlike the godawful slots included in the Hoyle Casino package which is an otherwise good game.)They even included a nice option allowing you to set the slots to actual ...casino payouts or extra-high payouts for those who want their virtual cash to last more than an hour.
I was disappointed, however, in the way the slots are viewed on the screen - a 3/4 machine view where you can see other slots to the left and right of the machine.There is no option to get a view that focuses just on the machine you are playing.In addition, the sound the machines make when the reels are spinning appear to be very bad samples of the actual IGT sounds.Finally, these machines are getting dated in my opinion and are already being replaced in casinos with "themed" slots such as Austin Powers, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy or slots offering bonus rounds such as Jackpot Party, Winning Bid, and Cash Crop.You won't find these machines in this package.
Since I hate slot machines, it would be unfair to say my boredom with playing this game would be matched by others; my slot addict friends were very happy with the present.I can say, however, that I also played Real Deal Slots by Phantom EFX and was pleasantly surprised.If you're looking for a slot game based on sheer "fun factor" I would suggest buying that game first.However, if you have a nostalgic fondness for the IGT slot machines I mentioned and you want an accurate recreation of those machines, this game is the way to go.
By the way, Masque does an even better portrayal of the IGT video poker machines in their game "Multiplay Video Poker" which ...(the website) currently does not sell... hint hint...

(More customer reviews)As a player who enjoys most of Phantom efx's slot releases, I was a little bit apprehensive about buying Adventure last year.It had a quest mode I wasn't sure that I'd like, but I ended up LOVING it!!So when I heard that American Adventure was coming out, I preordered it right away.And I wasn't disappointed!This is the BEST gaming value for your money if you like slots.For only 20 dollars, you get 20 slot machines with a bunch of fun and inventive bonus rounds.And the American Adventure mode is a ton of fun.You complete challenges in each of the 50 states.There are easy ones and hard ones.If you beat enough easy ones, you unlock new slots.If you beat enough hard ones, you unlock slots that pay out super super high.It's a fun challenge, and I love the music and graphics of the slots and the map that shows all the states that you have beaten.Great job Phantom efx!

(More customer reviews)Since this was a new release, I assumed the WMS games included would be relatively new. WMS currently has some of the most beautiful graphics and most interesting bonuses in the slots industry. But this disk has *really* old WMS games -- 5 or 6 years at least, and that's an eternity in the slots world today. The Masque games are OK, the WMS games are very disappointing. In addition, there doesn't seem to be any way to make the games play full-screen, which certainly detracts from the experience.

If you've never bought a PC slots game before, by all means choose PhantomEFX. Bonus Mania is their best. And it's FAR superior to this Masque offering.

(More customer reviews)Short and simple -- wait for a little while before buying this game. There are a ton of problems with sound and bonus rounds for the Masque-created slots; the WMS slots work correctly.And if you're buying this title strictly for the WMS slots, then you won't be disappointed (though I still keep hoping that some of the more popular titles, like "Life of Luxury" or "Something for Nothing" will one day be released).

I did email Masque support and was told a patch is forthcoming, so like I said, you may want to wait for a little while before buying, otherwise if you're willing to just play the WMS slots (and force-quit the game when you try to play the other slots), then you'll find it decent.

** When the patch from Masque is applied and if it radically makes the title better, I'll come back and revise this review.But for now, my review stands.... **

(More customer reviews)If you enjoy playing the video slot machines in the casino, this piece of computer software provides a really nice simulation of those games.This is the next best thing to being in Las Vegas or Atlantic City.

There are over twenty new slot games in MYSTIC FOREST, and they have the graphics, sound, and music that are pretty much identical to what you find in the casino.This game is pretty similar to BONUS MANIA, the slot game that Phantom EFX released last year, except the graphics and sound are even better.

There are also some video poker games you can play, although those pale in comparison to the slot games (if you like video poker, you may want to consider a game called HOYLE CASINO instead).But I suspect everyone who buys this game is interested in the slot games, and those are first-rate.

In short, you get a lot of fun for your money.I buy these games for my mother, and she enjoys them enormously.Phantom EFX is pretty much the only software company that makes these types of slot simulations for the computer.I've played all of their previous slot simulations, and this new game is their best one yet.

Highly recommended.

Slots WMS Double Pack Review

(More customer reviews)I'd read all of the reviews on every PC Slots game here on Amazon & was worried about all the problems that others seemed to be having. I'm running VISTA, so that limited my options substantially.
I found this new double pack (of two previously released games & I hoped that Masque had worked out all the bugs when they reconfigured this disk for PC (Vista) & Mac.
It's GREAT! It loaded perfectly, (in about 4 minutes) and I haven't had one crash or needed any patches.
I love the games.
I love the "higher payout option" because, unlike in Vegas, it's fun to win and win big :)
Great graphics.
Great color.
Easy switching from game to game.
Some fun, and some lame bonus rounds.
All and all, [...] I got twice the amount of games & I couldn't be happier.
If you're looking for a slots game to work with Vista, I highly recommend this one.

The games look and sound great and are actual games you can play in casinos. Some are regular type slots and some are video slots with bonus games. The bonus games all work great, no problems. The games include, Little Green Men, Enchanted unicorn, Dragons gold, Elephant King, Double Diamond 2000, Red White and Blue, Double Bucks, Roamin Rhinos, Triple Double Dollars, Double Diamond, Five Times Pay, cartoon Wild Cherry, Haywire, Candy Bars, Hot Peppers, Sizzling 7's, triple Diamond, Knockdown and more. (More customer reviews)After playing through 3 console casino titles in the past week and being disappointed in each of them, leave it to Phantom EFX to save the day.Nickels and More is a vastly entertaining product featuring a variety of video and reel slot machines and even 2 IGT licensed games called Checker King and Bunco Nights (which is sort of a variant on Yahtzee).While I have never seen these 2 IGT games in a Vegas casino, they are both very addictive.

As far as the video slots go, Phantom EFX came up with a nice variety of games ranging from 9-paylines to a whopping 20-paylines."Adventure" is one of my personal favorites.This 20-line machine features a unique bonus round structure that challenges you to a series of puzzles.Complete one and the next time you hit for the bonus, you play a new bonus game.There are at least 6 different variations to this which keeps the game fresh."Road trip USA" is another fun game featuring a bonus round that can be multiplied 2x or 4x depending on which "Interstate meter" you fill up first.An unusual slot variant is "Railroad To Riches", a 15-line machine with horizontally scrolling reels.One of the hardest games is "Grey Matter", a 15-line machine that features trivia questions for the bonus round.These trivia questions are far from easy as I have yet to answer one correctly on the first pick.All of the machines have great graphics and fun sound effects that complement the game perfectly.The reel slots aren't bad, but I'd like to see Phantom EFX come out with a volume of nothing but video slots.In addition to the slots, there is a "Prize Vault" which allows you to earn fictional prizes as you accumulate VIP points on your "slot club card".It's almost a game within a game, and if you listen to the prize descriptions, you'll find a few funny surprises as well.

Overall, if you're a slot fan, you definitely can't go wrong with this game.It's easy to pick up, easy to play, and very hard to step away from.

(More customer reviews)This game is TOO much fun!It's by far the best PC slots game I've ever played.I don't even know where to start.The variety of games is amazing -- there are so many different machines here that when you first get it, you'll probably spend a long time just flipping through them all seeing what they are.
The video slots are just like many of the best and most popular ones you find in the casinos.Some of my favorites are "Soap Opera," "Blondie Double Feature," and "Movie Star Betty Boop.""Popeye" is another very entertaining cartoon-based slot.There are so many slots with bonus rounds on this disc that there's endless variety of game play, and you never know what's going to happen next.This is the best PC game I've ever seen as far as duplicating the experience you get in the casino.A lot of other home versions of casino slots are watered-down versions with very limited sound and visual effects, which for me are at least half the fun of playing the game in the casino.I love the little touches, and they're all here.One of my most enjoyable real life casino experiences was playing a "Soap Opera" machine at Mandalay Bay that was paying out like mad, and now I can experience that sort of fun right here at home (though, sadly, there are no waitresses bringing free cocktails here).
One of the best features, and one that's sadly lacking on many other PC slot games, is that you have the choice of playing either realistic payouts or ultra-high payouts.The former is more like being in the casino, but the latter makes it even more fun because you get lots of very high scatter pays, bonus wins, etc.Most other home games are either set at only the realistic or only the ultra-high payout levels, so it's great that you get to choose here on each game.It adds even more variety to an already amazing package.And it's a really nice change of pace from some home games in which the slots are so tight that they're no fun at all (hello, "Monopoly Casino"!).
It's great fun if you love playing video slots with bonus rounds in the casinos.The fact that it's not real money means you can play Max Bet on everything, which makes it much more fun but wipes out your bank account in the real casinos.It's also a better assortment of new games than I've ever seen in Vegas, and you don't have to put up with the smoke, the empty hoppers, or that inevitable person who wants to sit down beside you and yammer inanely.
I can't say enough positive things about this game.I'm definitely going to go out and get some of the other casino simulators by Masque.One warning, though: this CD is ridiculously addictive!

IGT Slots: Texas Tea Review

(More customer reviews)This is a good collection of slots, both reelspinners and videoslots.It has given me much fun, the machines are meticulously reproduces, including soundeffect.You see the reels spin in a realistic way, they just dont blur like in other slotgames. Most importantly to me is that these are reproductions of genuine slots, not made ups slots, makebelive slots - but the slots you actually find in casinos. It gives the game an aura of authenticity that no other company can offer I think. Thanks to IGT that allowed their machines to be reproduced like this by Masque - a trust well placed in my mind.Just be aware that many/all ?of the reelspinners on this collection have been published earlier by Masque. What I dont like ? I miss the opportunity to enlarge the slotmachine so that the reels fill the screen. A positive thing is that you can choose between realistic payout percentage, and an unrealisticly high percentage. Also the way you add more credit to the slot you are currently playing is a bit longwinded and tedious, could have been made simpler.But all in all a very nice collection, and if you like slotmachines and the fun they can provide I believe you will enjoy IGT Slots: Texas Tea.

IGT Slots: Wolf Run Review

(More customer reviews)This release by Masque is almost ALMOST flawless. I love Wolf Run and Mystical Mermaid in the casino so I purchased this release with great expectations. The play is realistic. Graphics and payouts are spot on. However the disappointment lies in the fact that Masque obviously did not obtain the musical rights to the songs that make these slots so enjoyable! No Cotton Eye Joe in Texas Tina, no Splish Splash in Mystical Mermaid, no Catch A Wave in Catch A Wave etc... A major aspect of the entertainment in these games in the enjoyment of the timeless music played with the push of a button. The Jarabe Tapatio (Mexican Hat Dance) melody in Festival Fantastico that keeps me fast clicking max bet at the casino is preserved in the home computer version but that is it. An "authentic" advertisement should be just that. This would be a 5 star release if the authentic music that IGT payed the rights for was included. Without a patch with these updates the release is only an average 2.5 stars.
