Fullmetal Alchemist and the Broken Angel Review

For people that arent aware this game goes hand in hand with the Fullmetal Alchemist anime series. So if you havent seen that and are planning to get this game then i'd hold off on that. With that being said for the amount time it took me to finish this game. I believe that it was time maybe not well spent but it wasnt a waste of time either. I only had a couple issues with the game one being the controls are a bit on the wacked out side and the other being the AI of your character partner.I dont know how many times.I was screaming at the TV for him to come to my aid and he keeps saying "okay" like a thousand times and wouldnt come over.Or he would and i'd be trying to get around him and he's blocking my path.

I mean dont get me wrong i did enjoy being able to change items into different ones and make new weapons to own the various enemies that you face. But for me to have a partner they should be actively contributing to the battle not watching me.Get swarmed by a horde of enemies not that they were hard. But what's the point. The story again follow the anime series so you kind of need to get into that beforehand, graphics are decent not really top notch but crappy. The levelling system didnt seem like it made any real difference in the game to me.

I rarely ever had problems getting past an enemy or a level.Only a rare occasion usually due to my own error. Was able to finish the game in a few sittings.I got sucked in by the story and when it was all said and done.I feel that it was an okay purchase, but i wouldn't pay 49.99 for it.I'd wait til it was cheaper or rent the game over a long weekend.

Hope the second one is a bit better than this one.

Castlevania: Lament of Innocence Review

Castlevania: Lament of Innocence
Average Reviews:

Let's get a few things clear and out of the way:
- Symphony of the Night is one of my all-time favorite games, and since I've been playing videogames since the old Atari systems, that's saying alot.
-The jump to 3D play, and I mean GOOD 3D play, was just inevitable, so get used to it.All games are going this way. It's much easier to take advantage of the hardware in a 3D environment.
Now that that's said and done, let's get to the point.Lament of Innocence is, in my opinion, a well made and very fun game.It helps that the design team from Symphony worked on this game. The controls are easy to learn: 2 buttons to attack, 1 to jump, 1 for special weapons, and 1 to block. As long as you can get those buttons down, you can play for quite a while and not have to worry about the others. The new combo system is great, giving you the ability to chain together an entire series of very devastating attacks. If you can master the combo system, the sub weapons can be moved to a USE-ONLY-IF-NEEDED status. The addition of using the whip as a meathod of swinging off poles and rails was a nice touch. Also, the game requires ALOT of exploring and doubling-back to retreive items you couldn't get before. Also, if you think the voice-overs stink, then you can play the game in Japanese with English subtitles.
There are a few caveats, however. The only way to gain magic points is to block a special enemy attack. This can get extremely frustrating, especially if you're surrounded by enemies that are hacking at you, but not performing special attacks. Also, certain areas of the game become inaccessible after the boss is defeated, and you can go back to pick up something you may have missed, some of which can be very hard to find. Also, the real-time window is just plain bad.You could end up getting the snot beaten out of you just for trying to drink some health potion or equipping a different whip.
All the flaws aside, the game is magnificent and a very impressive transition to the 3D format. The storyline is decent, and I think it shows some guts to try to create a prequel to a very famous and recognized series of games.

Naruto Shippuden: Clash of Ninja Revolution III Review

Naruto Shippuden: Clash of Ninja Revolution III

Naruto Shippuden: Clash of Ninja Revolution III is the first Naruto game on the Wii that features characters from the Shippuden section of the Naruto Anime/Manga. The game contains more than 35 characters from this story arc and should definitely please most people with the selection of characters. Beyond the characters included the game storyline goes through the Akatsuki capturing Gaara arc of Shippuden which is essentially the first 30 or so episodes of Shippuden (or in the manga the volumes 28-31, Manga chapters 245-280). The game brings to life the story by (only includes English audio) incorporating the English voice actors from the show and either stating the exact same lines as we heard them in the anime, or slight modifications and alterations to the places where some of the conversations or fights took place.Actually all but one fight actually occurred. The story in the game is pretty faithful to the manga/anime so it should please people who like to play through the actual events as they took place.

The mechanics to this fighting game are, in my opinion, spot on in all but one respect. The difficulty of the game can be described as easy fights, then a really difficult fight, then a few challenging fights, then a really difficult fight, then a few challenging ones, and so.It seems that they paced out these difficult ones to ensure that a player is actually growing and learning the controls and is able to morph themselves into changing their playstyle for different conditions to win. For example a really early fight that is really difficult is mainly difficult because it is one character versus two characters (and if one character is tagged out they can recover their health) so the key here is that the game wants to make sure that the character is dodging attacks and/or taking advantage of doing many of the jutsus that character knows. The only other weird mechanic in this game, that was new to me (since I come from playing the Ultimate Ninja series of games) is that the substitution jutsu takes about 75% of the chakra bar. So unlike in the other games the substitution jutsus cant really be spammed or heavily relied upon.

The game supports four controls styles (gamecube controller, wiiremote, wiiremote and nunchuk, and classic controller). The controls are fortunately all listed in the tiny game manual and the ability to take part in a tutorial mode, will make sure that you learn to use your specific controller style.I prefer the gamecube controller for the sake of a more traditional experience, but the Wiiremote offers a bonus with some motion controls that can extra power to attacks.

Graphically, the game excels with the cutscenes that are directly from the anime with english dubbing and these can be viewed once unlocked.Battles take place fullscreen but the menu seems to be in a sort of boxed format. The battle experience and screen is clean, moves are fluid, and special jutsus are really flashy. It seems to take advantage of the Wii well and the 3D backgrounds with the 2D cel-shaded models of characters is a great style. The menu presentation could have been worked on as there are alot of jagged/white lines on the characters.Of course we cant really criticize it since we are only concerned with the fighting in the game.

Finally a few more things to note, there is online wi-fi play for those who are interested.Local multiplayer also includes support for up to four players on the field at once. This works well and I hope to see it implemented in future games. It can get hectic trying to keep track of a character and/or figuring out who to target (the target button will change the color of an onscreen arrow that indicates which direction you are facing and fighting). I loved the mode playing it with other people. One thing of caution, one can win by just button mashing, but truly the skilled will win consistently because of the implementation of doing guarding, dodging, and substitution jutsus.

Clash of Ninja Revolution III is definitely a great game in the Clash of Ninja Revolution series and I hope to see it continue deeper into the Shippuden arc of Naruto. It was my first Clash of Ninja Revolution game and was pretty easy to pick up and play within hours. It is actually pretty addictive since, at the time of writing this, Ive already spent more than 30 hours playing it. I dont really have any criticisms beyond the slight menu presentation aspect, but everything else is spot on.A definite buy for fighter fans.

Jewel Master: Egypt Review

Jewel Master: Egypt
Average Reviews:

I loved Cradle of Rome, and this game is a fantastic sequel!Egypt is identical in format. You get to build your own civilization by earning gold and resources through game play - match at least three symbols to clear the blue tiles from the board. The symbols are new, vibrant and beautiful, and for a little extra fun when you've finished clearing tiles, you get a lapis lazuli scarab beetle which has to be dropped off the board before your water pitcher timer runs empty!

The tile swapping movement is smooth as silk in this game, I noticed it immediately.New symbols fall in fast like silky lightning. This game is very nicely done, and is already a must play for me all the way through to the end. It's highly addictive and gorgeous.....if you love Jewel Quest or other gem swapping puzzle games, this one is outstanding!
