I bought this for my daughter on her 6th birthday and she fell in love.Your child gets to dress up and design their own princesses which is very cool.they also get to design their gowns with the Princess Fashion Boutique and the Magical Dress Up.You can also import your daughters picture and she can use herself in the dress up games.Ariel's story studio was just okay because there was not a lot of stuff you could do in the game. With the 2 dress up games you have to find objects for your wardrobe which can be fun.Buy this game your daughter will love it, you might even find yourself playing it like I did!

Bella Sara Review

Bella Sara

This is a great horse game for the DS whether you're into the Bella Sara website or not. I grew up during the pokemon card craze so having a game where you collect cards was a nice throw back to my younger days. It took me just under a week to complete all the challenges and find all the cards. The cards represent beautiful artwork. There are three different trails with different challenges for each and then there are three different jump courses that you can ride multiple times to collect all the cards. You get 6 different magical horses to ride, the 6th being a winged horse you get after completing all the challenges. Who wouldn't want to play a horse game where you get to ride a winged horse?
However there are cons. The graphics are sub par. The cards look great, but the actual horses you ride look like they're poorly molded from clay. Not much detail was paid to how the game horses look. Also the horse tires too fast in my opinion. After it gets tired, you have to go through the grooming, feeding, cleaning the stall, and petting routine all over again. This gets tiring and repetitive, especially when you have six horses. A third complaint is that you get the flying horse too late in the game to do much with it. The challenges are all complete. I used the horse to go through the jump courses again and collect cards and I suppose this is what you're supposed to do, but I would like to see some challenges designated just for that horse as some of the other challenges are.
Overall it is a very fun game and worth the purchase if you're into horse games.

My Little Pony Review

My Little Pony
Average Reviews:

We've had this game for over a year and it's one of the few that my girls (now 6 and 3 1/2) continually come back to.Especially my younger daughter. There isn't too much by way of brain power required, no games that build reading or math skills. It is mostly about decorating...decorating the cake (my kids favorite), the ballroom, the bedroom, designing invitations, grooming ponies.Sometimes a list of items is given that the child needs to troll around the pony town and find but nothing challenging. However the colors are bright, the narrator is full of fun southern flair 'darling', and I like the extent of detail they put into this program, for example the cake will change from a round cake to a square to castle shape depending on when you enter the bakery, and you can decorate it with a zillion options.I can't stress enough how bright and colorful the whole thing is and it runs smoothly both on our Windows XP and 98 machines. So if you have an artsy child who likes little ponies, this game is worth your money.

Ar tonelico: Melody of Elemia Review

Ar tonelico: Melody of Elemia
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Ar Tonelico: Melody of Elemia is one of the newest games to be produced by NISAmerica in collaboration with Gust Studios. The game follows the story of a young man named Lyner Barsett on his quest to save the city of Platina and the whole tower of Ar Tonelico from a deadly new strain of virus.

The game takes place in the a world that has twice met destruction at the hands of God and man. As a result only a small portion of land remains inhabitable. To solve this problem, the Tower of Ar Tonelico was constructed. The tower is composed of many sections having the poorer more agricultural folk at the bottom and the industrious technological cities towards the top.

The story begins in Platina, one of the upper cities. Here we meet Lyner Barsett, a knight of Elemia. As a knight it is his job to protect the tower from viruses that threaten to destroy their very world. When a new strain appears that is immune to all of the knights attacks, Lyner is intrusted to retrieve the Purger Grathnode Crystal from the lower lands and return to Platina. However, when his airship crash lands at the base of the tower, things become much more complicated as he meets many new people and will be forced to climb back up the tower level by level to get home. Hopefully in time to prevent its destruction.

There are only a few things that really help to define this game from other JRPG's. The most important of which being the Rayvateils. Rayvateils are basically androids or cyborgs (although they have the ability to reproduce so it has evolved into a substrain of the human species really) that have the ability to harness the spirits of songs from stones to generate powerful magic. You will meet several Rayvateils along the way, but there are two key ones that will shape the entire story (there is another, but it'd be a spoiler), they are Misha and Aurica.

You use the Rayvateils magic in battle in a slightly less conventional way than you might expect. You select the magic for her to use and she will begin casting it. She will continuously amp up the power of the spell until she runs out of MP (or you tell her to cast it) for devastating damage (you can easily amp the power to 10,000% on some early bosses). All the while you can have up to three regular humans attacking in the traditional ways.

Thus far, everything seems not to different from a regular RPG. Then you find out there is a complex dating-sim-esque mechanic that is essential to building up the abilities of your Rayvateils. Since they are part machine, there are places called Dive shops where you can go into the subconscious mind of your Rayvateil and help her work through her demons and scars from her past. By doing so, she will use the strong emotions built up and pent up to craft new spells. It isn't all that simple though because she will not let you delve into the deeper levels of her mind until she grows to trust you and your intent. By having conversations with them at rest points and a few other actions, you grow relationships with your spell casters that allow them to become more powerful. This is truely the heart of the game and is the main reason I purchased it in the first place.

Aside from the relationship system, everything is none to different from other RPGs. Although the text heavy portions for the relationship scenarios is apt to turn several people off. Unless you are a fan of bishoujo games (Japanese dating sims), some more dramatic animes or movies, or are just willing to try something unique that hasn't been done to this extent before, you may want to steer clear. But for those of us who love having things really driven by story, characterization, and the relationships between the characters as opposed to just nonstop action, I cannot recommend this game any more.

Product Description:
Ar Tonelico: Melody of Elemia mixes several different gameplay styles - from role-playing exploration to turn-based battles. The game takes you to the world of Sol Shell, a small world where a single floating tower sits between two seas -- clouds above, plasma below. The key to this world is the magic of song; unlock it to discover incredible new adventures in a strange and beautiful landscape. The story centers on Laina Barselt, an eighteen-year-old whose father governs Platina, a town located in the top floors of the tower. Laina is uninterested in politics, and instead seeks adventure in the army. The game has multiple heroines of a species known as Ravateel, who use magic to sing songs about the world. However, these performances cause pain for the performer, so they only perform for loved ones.

Nancy Drew 75th Anniversary Review

Nancy Drew 75th Anniversary
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I own all of the Nancy Drew PC games and even though I'm an adult, I have a great time playing them (I pass them down to my nieces afterwards -- it helps having played the game for when they call and need help!). Secrets Can Kill is the first in the series and the only one that has an actual murder in it (the others focus on items being stolen, treasures hidden, "ghosts", and so on). "Secrets" is the weakest of the series but that's to be expected since it was the first and Her Interactive has made many improvements with each game. The game is point-and-click and the cursors change color and look when there's something of interest. Navigation is pretty easy, the graphics are rich and colorful, and some of the puzzles can be very challenging. In the earliest games you could choose between Master, Senior and Junior Detective but later games just offer Junior and Senior. Junior Detective mode gives Nancy a little book where she keeps track of what to do next, so kids can refer to it and not get too lost. The games became more educational with the titles of Dolphin Cove (you learn about dolphins, whales, nautical terms and flags, etc.) and Secret of the Scarlet Hand (all about the Mayan culture with settings in a museum). Some titles are just spooky fun like Haunted Mansion, Blackmoor Manor, Treasure in the Royal Tower and so on. The voice work on these games is good, but sometimes you can tell the actor is faking an accent. There's not a lot of animation, and the suspects usually stay in one spot so you know where to find them when you need them. I would recommend these games for preteens and up because some of the effects could scare a small child (in a couple of the games there is an explosion effect when you choose the wrong thing -- luckily there is always the "Second Chance" button, but the suddeness of the bang could make you jump if you don't know it's coming.) Overall, this series just keeps improving. I'm looking forward to the next one which will see Nancy in Paris, France.

I bought this after buying some other games for my daughter that she found frustrating due to the amount of reading involved or difficulty level. This is an easy game, simple for her to use on her own, and she absolutely loves it.Finding good games for a 5 year old girl is challenging, but this one hits the mark.I highly recommend this for anyone trying to find a cute, fun, easy and entertaining game for their young children.I would say this game is perfect for 4-7 year olds.

Gardening Mama Review

Gardening Mama
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this game since I previously played Cooking Mama and Cooking Mama 2 (Dinner With Friends) and I was very excited about it. Now I've played it a few times, I'm very happy to have gotten it. With this game if you have previously played either of the Cooking Mama games, then you'll probably have an idea of what to expect. The format isn't greatly different from them, it's still very easy to pick up and figure out.

What I love about these games are, kids can have so much fun with them but an adult can also have a go too. Some of the task may be a little easy for an adult but some may not be (especially if you're going for gold).

If you haven't played any of the Cooking Mama games, then the style of the game is a little something like this, your goal is to plant something, such as a tulip but its broken down intostages, seeding, digging a hole, and so on. Theres nice obvious instructions on what to do for each task that needs to be done in order to plant something. There is also directions for you to follow, which is very helpful. My cousin loves this game too as it gives her an idea of how to garden, in a fun way. :D

My Little Pony: Pinkie Pie's Party Review

My Little Pony: Pinkie Pie's Party
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This game is a rather simple one.My 4 year old completed the game the first time within two hours. However, she continues to play it over and over, asking me to 'erase' so she can start it again from the beginning.

The player walks Pinkie Pie around town. The top screen is a map and the next goal is always marked there so you know what to do next. The town is made up of some of the various buildings in Ponyville, most are directly taken from the toyline and my daughter was excited to be able to go inside Pinkie Pie's balloon house, Starsong's bus and the Sweet Shop. The object of the game is to find all 20 presents and 12 puzzle pieces so Pinkie Pie can have her birthday party. This is done by playing mini games and finding presents "hidden" in various places on the game map.Everything is really small and kept compact.Pinkie is controlled with the D-Pad and most mini games use the stylus. There is a bit of text, but the important things are told in voice as well as text, or easily discovered by walking around so even if your child cannot read yet, with a little help things are easy to figure out.

The mini games are really simple but cute.My daughter especially liked the one where you circle butterflies with your stylus and put the seeds in the ground for flowers to grow (dont let the gophers eat your seeds!)

Another nice addition is having the actual voice actress for Pinkie Pie do her voice (the voice for Pinkie in the current pony movies and toys such as the Sing and Dance Pinkie Pie)and including the "real" My Little Pony theme song. Also after you find all the presents you get to "open" them and each one does something different.A simple memory card game, drums to play with, bubbles to blow, a bag that has a string you can pull and make a rainbow come out, etc.

Recommended for My Little Pony fans around the age of 4-6.An older child will likely get bored more easily since there isn't THAT much to doin Ponyville.

My 4 year old daughter likes to sneak and play her big sister's Nintendo DS when she's at school. This is the ONLY game (we have around 20) that she can play without help. There's no reading required, and there are lots of activities (she loves the coloring) for preschoolers.Even my older daughter pulls this out to play every once in awhile. It's not a game with a storyline or goal, just a bunch of activities for younger kids.

Disney Fairies: Tinkerbell Review

Disney Fairies: Tinkerbell
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was expecting this game to be junk. Most of the licensed DS games are, unfortunately. However, this is one exception to the rule.I bought it for my daughter who is frankly, too young to play it.She is almost four and loves Tinkerbell. This game requires you to be able to read though, and at a second or third grade level. The "game" basically is like a fetch-it RPG without any battles. You talk to other fairies that populate the Disney Fairies world and they will ask you to help them find things or to retrieve items from other fairies.Once you complete a set of tasks and gather enough items you go through a change of seasons, and then have to help collect various things to make autumn come, (or winter, spring, summer).

Some fairies have mini games that you can play that will earn you various items in the game. You arrange spots on ladybugs, capture dewdrops and other simple games. All of this is fairly standard fare for a kid's DS title.

What makes the game standout is the GRAPHICS.They are absolutely GORGEOUS.Using still backgrounds (that look to be from the movie), the TinkerBell world is absolutely gorgeous. From sunflower fields to TinkerBell's quaint little fairy home (looks a bit like an acorn), to falling leaves, every screen is a treat. The music is nice too and the animations for the fairies are gorgeous.Tinkerbell is easy to move around and looks great flying.I was very impressed with the visual presentation, despite the fact that the backgrounds are mostly static. There's alot of variety, too.

My daughter likes to just fly TinkerBell around, but other, older girls would probably enjoy the game alot. Its simple, but pretty and has no violence either.

Petz Horse Club Review

Petz Horse Club
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I probably own most horse games that are out there and to be honest don't get my hopes up too much when ordering any because of the quality of other games I brought, but I was pleasantly surprised with this game.

Here's what is good about the game:-
1.The graphics are better than most games I have encountered. The horses look and move pretty realistically.
2.I love that you can do your own thing if you want and ignore the present task, no clock counting you down
3.You can befriend any wild mustang and bring them back to the ranch
4.You can breed your own foal, choosing different parents creates a different looking foal and you can tweak some of its features before it's born.
5.All the horses you breed or bring home remain in the game - you can interact, groom and ride any of them
6.The competitions are also realistic and not too difficult (Cross Country/Show Jumping and Steeplechase) and you have to warm the horse up beforehand

Here's what's not so good
1.Most of the tasks involve riding to a location (and back) so a lot of time does seem to be spent just riding and as there are only about 6 different locations I can imagine this will get a bit annoying after a while
2.Like most horse games the grooming aspect does become a bit tiresome after a while and this one is no different. The process to 'befriend' a horse is a bit repetitive as well
3.Loading time in between competitions and locations

On the whole I like this game so far, definitely playable for most ages as the controls are pretty easy, I think I'm going to be playing it for a while yet.
