RAZER Copperhead Razor High Precision Gaming Mouse (Anarchy Red) Review

RAZER Copperhead Razor High Precision Gaming Mouse
Average Reviews:

-It might not have a fly wheel scrolling but the 2000dpi does show its fangs in FPS games. Really cool mouse.

-Had no problems with it, been using it for almost half a year.

-I cant say that its a flaw but I have to remove the mouse every time I goto sleep as the red light stays on and it stands out damn well in the dark.

-It does have some issues with Linux (Ubuntu). It needs to unplugged and pluged after startup for Linux to recognize the mouse. But all the 7 buttons have the same default configuration in Linux and the work fine after the mouse has been repluged in.

-Considering the linux incompatibility and also the low amount of such high sensitive mouse in linux, I might give the mouse 4.9 rating. So I have to go for a 5 as thats the closest.

Razer Diamondback Plasma Limited Edition - Ice Blue Review

Razer Diamondback Plasma Limited Edition - Ice Blue
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm not a gamer.

I bought this mouse for ergo reasons. And because I spend enough of my life at the computer that there's no reason to have anything other than the hottest equipment.

I switched from the Logitech MX-510, the other hot gamer's mouse series. They're functionally very similar, but the Razer Diamondback has been far superior (for me) in practice! Here's the breakdown:

Razer Diamondback pros:
- Better ergo I: Smaller size that fits more naturally in your palm, in better "at rest" position, than the Logitech. (At least for my desk and my hand.)
- Better ergo II: Also, the way your fingers rest on the (slip-proof) main mouse buttons is more relaxed. In particular, it feels like I'm easily using my whole finger. The Logitech in comparison was awkward, felt like I was using only part of my finger, or never quite was settled right.
- More buttons, or at least more buttons available for reasonable use.
- Left and Right side buttons much more comfortable to click.
- More programmable? At least in practice, more easily programmable, so I did customie more.
- Great driver and control panel applet to set options for the mouse. This really helped me get more use out of it.
- Nice work on software details; e.g. "on-the-fly sensitivity" adjustment, without going back to Control Panel, just with controls on the mouse.

Logitech MX-510 pros:
- The Logitech has two buttons, one each above and below the scroll wheel, that mean "keep scrolling in that direction." So you roll the wheel in one direction, and when your finger hits the end of the roll, you can just move to the button right there to say "keep going." Nice. I'll miss that. (But I've already adjusted the scroll speed conveniently several times on the Razer to where I'll miss it less; I never (or at most once?) adjusted the scroll speed on the Logitech.)

These kinds of choices can be very personal. But in my experience, you couldn't get me to go back to the Logitech now.

Razer Boomslang Collector's Edition 1800 dpi Gaming Mouse Review

Razer Boomslang Collector's Edition 1800 dpi Gaming Mouse
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
What can I say?It has a metal housing (not just painted plastic), the buttons are huge, and it slides like glass across a surface. It has a very low-profile design which makes it ideal for gaming.I traded off my Logitech G7 (cordless G5) for it, and it met my expectations for doing so.

Pros- EXTREMELY accurate. It may say 1800dpi, but it's instant (1ms response).Huge over-sized buttons which allow you to stretch and move your fingers around during a game session.Excellent scroll wheel and perfect skates.

Cons- Only 5 buttons, difficult switching the DPI unless you sacrifice one of the five buttons...that's about all of the cons.

Bottom Line- It's durable, comes with extra feet, and should last for many years to come.I think this mouse cuts the bells and whistles; it gives you only what you NEED.If a 5 button mouse does the trick for you, I can't recommend this mouse enough.Get one before they're gone for good.

Logitech MX 510 Performance Optical Gaming Mouse (Red) Review

Logitech MX 510 Performance Optical Gaming Mouse
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I ordered this mouse from Amazon.com last week and it arrived the day after it shipped along with another item. They just keep getting faster and faster! Now, about the product itself. I am very picky on mice and, since I've never owned a Logitech mouse of my own, was really hesitant to purchase this model. I was really spoiled by my Intellimouse Explorer optical (one of the earliest models) and wasn't looking forward to upgrading, but since the mouse was dying I had no choice. The current generation of Intellimouse Explorers weren't getting such rave reviews and I also wasn't ready to jump into wireless mice just yet, since I feel the technology there isn't advanced enough for daily gaming (though, in the case of the MX1000, I could be wrong)

After weighing this mouse (the red version, the blue was more expensive for some reason) against the MX1000, the price difference and incredible reviews won me over, so I bought the MX510. After nearly a week's worth of use, here are my impressions.

1. The MX510 is both easier to move and more accurate than my previous mouse. It moves effortlessly around the screen and my hand never gets fatigued. This mouse is not only suited for gaming, but excellent for any task that requires LOTS of mouse activity, like graphics editing for example.

2. I actually thought I would never use the two cruise control buttons, but I find them very useful. It is true that the top cruise control button is high up, and you may need to reach a bit further to get to it, but with my hands (which aren't all that large) I don't find it problematic at all.

3. The Quick Switch Program Selector is nice, but I find ALT+TAB to be faster. However, like all buttons on this mouse, the MouseWare drivers from Logitech allow you to map this button to just about any task you like, so if you don't want to use the default setting I'm sure you could think of a more useful action for this button.

4. Forward and Back buttons are easier to reach and click easier than my old Intellimouse.

5. Unlike some people here, I found the sculpt of this mouse to be very form-fitting to my hand (if you're right handed!) I believe the people having problems with that are those with either really large or really small hands, and thus can't be helped.

6. The only cavet I've found is the scroll wheel, which does not scroll quite as smoothly nor click quite as easily as my previous mouse. I'm hoping that, as time wears on, it will get "worn in" and function more to my liking. It works fine, just takes more effort. I can live with it.

I would recommend this mouse to anyone looking for a high-performance, comfortable mouse. This is probably the best non-cordless model being produced today. Great job Logitech!

P.S. be sure to get the latest MouseWare drivers from logitech.com, the ones on the CD are outdated. As of this writing the latest are 9.80.

Logitech G3 Laser Mouse ( 931691-0403 ) Review

Logitech G3 Laser Mouse
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I did not purchase this mouse for gaming, but instead bought it for its high DPI -- without running the driver software the mouse can switch between 800 and 1600 DPI. The special driver software is not available for Mac, which is the platform I use.

Over the years I've learned to eliminate my mouse-related cramps/pains by using the fastest mice and drivers available. I formerly used the Logitech Mx300 (an 800 DPI mouse) with USB Overdrive (A third-party Mac driver) at the fastest DPI setting (80 DPI) -- All fine for a few years, but I had to live with the mouse skipping pixels when I tried to be precise with it -- that made PhotoShop work sometimes frustrating.

This mouse has the same form-factor as my older Logitech mouse, which was the other reason I considered switching. (Logitech seems to have carried on this form-factor through the years, and I hope they stick with it.) It tracks very well without a mouse pad (I'm using on a Birch veneer IKEA desktop) and the 1600 DPI mode makes for really, really, precise movement -- no more skipping pixels. Since I keep the mouse on the highest setting all the time, I can slow it down with the top button when I need extra precision.

I've only been using the mouse a few days, but I've noticed a few gotcha's: First, my former Mx300 had a metal weight in the mouse. This was easy enough to remove, as the screw hole was exposed. Not so on the G3. It feels like there's a weight in there, but the screw access is probably under the pads. Fortunately, the pads are really, really slick, so it's probably not going to be a problem until they get scratched up a bit and the responsiveness goes down. Anyone concerned about getting a stiff or cramped wrist from mousing would be wise to remove the metal weights from their mice -- IMHO, The Man put them in there to make you work harder! Ahem...

Next, when upgrading from an 800 to 1600 dpi mouse, the 'mouse acceleration' is not 1:1 -- I can't quite set my mouse driver (third party or OS X driver) to 'feel' the same as my old mouse -- it's a wee bit off.

Third, the cord is a bit stiff -- definitely stiffer than the Mx300's cord, or my default Apple mouse cord. You can feel it resist when using the mouse, tugging at your hand a bit. I'm hoping it wears in.

Also, the little middle button is not reprogrammable, as it is on my Mx300 (the mouse has the same form-factor, except the G3 has two additional side buttons) -- it's a hard-wired toggle between 800 & 1600 DPI (when not running the driver software). I don't know if it reprogrammable if you're running the Logitec software, but it's at least something Mac users should consider.

Finally, this mouse touts a non-slip grip, which I would say it definitely has. However, it feels a bit abrasive on my finger tips -- feeling a bit like "rubberized emery-cloth." I doesn't just give traction, but feels like there are gritty particles on the surface. Bleh. Maybe years of sitting at my desk and writing software for 14 hours a day left me with sensitive fingers tips, I guess?

Ideally, I'd rate this mouse between a 3 and a 4. I'm hoping the little niggling things, like the stiff cord and the abrasive grip sides, wear in after a while. However, precision and sensitivity are what this mouse does well, so I'm willing to forgo 3 stars and give it 4 -- I like it, but I don't love it.

Razer Copperhead Tempest Blue 2000 Dpi Mouse with built-in Memory Review

Razer Copperhead Tempest Blue 2000 Dpi Mouse with built-in Memory
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Let's start with the basics:

My computer is midrange. I have a 3.0 Ghz P4, 200GB Hard drive, 1.5gig PC3200 RAM, and a GeForce 6600GT. This places me at the slightly above average range for computers, as I understand it.

The original mouse I used was the stock Gateway ballmouse. Disgusted with it very quickly, I bought a Kensington Optical Mouse. This mouse lasted a little while until one day it mysteriously started dying on me (about a year to a year and a half later).

I replaced it with a Logitech MX610..I'd always wanted a wireless mouse and did not want to spring the extra fourty dollars for an MX1000.

Bad move.

The mouse was terrible for gaming -- mainly I play WoW, Oblivion, and Dawn of War, as well as a touch of Half-Life and Halo. Disgusted with wireless mice almost immediately, I purchased the Razer Copperhead (Tempest Blue) and the Razer Exact pad after reading multiple reviews comparing it, the MX518, and the G5 gaming mouse, and going to my local Best Buy to "field test" (get a feel for) all of the mice. After extensive field testing, I decided that the Razer was the one for me.Now onto the mouse itself:-First Impression-
Right out of the box, this bad boy came equipped to do battle. After installing the firmware that came with the mouse, readying the Exact mousepad, and plugging this in, I found myself mousing at an incredibly improved speed. Not to mention my accuracy was almost dead on. I required a few small adjustments (toning the dpi down to 1600 instead of 2000, etc.) in order to keep myself from overshooting due to the sensitivity of the mouse.-Appearance-
The blue LEDs that surround the mouse look excellent in lit rooms and absolutely stunning in dark rooms. The tri-snake emblem on the top of the mouse pulses slowly and rhythmically. I cannot speak for the other colors, but the blue truly made my desktop a more exciting thing to look at.-Comfort-
The mouse took a little getting used to, I will fully admit. Its long, tapered buttons suited my large hands perfectly. However, the mouse is not overly bulky. It has a fairly low profile and has more of a delicate touch feel to it when mousing, as opposed to rough push feel of many mice. Moving your cursor is a simple task, with a gentle little flick of the wrist...it feels far more like you're guiding this mouse, instead of forcing it, if that makes sense.-Software-
Easy to use, easy to figure out, this software has it all. From minute adjustments to how sensitive your scroll wheel is to how fast you need to double-click the mouse in order for it to be recognized as a double-click, the mouse is infinitely customizable.-Hardware-
Solid and strong feeling, the mouse sticks to your hand nicely. Though it does feel a touch light and delicate, I'm a firm believer that it could take a hit and walk away from it (though why you would want to hit a 60-80 dollar mouse, I have no clue...) The low profile will also take many mouse users a little while to get used to, as every mouse I'd had before had a very high profile. Coupled with the gel wrist rest that can come with the Razer Exactpad though, you quickly forget how low profile it is.

The buttons on the top, as mentioned before, are incredibly convenient. The buttons on the side are not so much however. Being a right-hander, I found the mouse buttons on the lefthand side incredibly easy to reach and use. The righthand mouse buttons however, are nigh-impossible to use. My only guess is that one would use them for the stock setting (to switch dpi on the fly), and probably more likely that they are set there for symmetrical mouse usage by lefties.

The teflon feet that come stock on the bottom of this mouse make it slide over the mousepad like air. Though a bit light to me, you can customize this mouse to make it heavier by purchasing a Razer modification kit from Razer's homepage (costing between 10 and 15 dollars typically). However, using this repair kit voids your warranty. Conclusion (Pros):
- Visually Appealing
- Incredible Accuracy
- Software makes customizing mouse a very unique experience
- Comfortable Feel
- Low Profile helps cut down on wrist strain
- Top End Construction
- Teflon Feet a huge plusConclusion (Cons):
- Price is a deterrent
- Mouse buttons on at least one side will feel all but useless
- Adjusting to a gaming mouse of this quality takes TIME--- Overall ---

I could not be happier with the combination of mouse and mousepad I now have. A worthy buy? Absolutely. I rate it 5/5 stars...it's just that good.Edit: September 3, 2007: Over a year (pushing a year and a half!) later and I am still using the same mouse. Unfortunately I have only upgraded my video card (currently a 512mb 7900GT KO), so the processor and pc3200 ram are beginning to drag on newer games. I still play Battlefield 2142, F.E.A.R., etc, on full or nearly full resolution with no problem, however.

The mouse is continuing to function, even after having been dropped several times and the abuse of a 17 year old little brother who stays at my place to dogsit while I am out of town at work.

THE ONLY COMPLAINT I now have is that the teflon feet on the bottom of the mouse are beginning to wear out...I think I need to order more and replace them, as the ice-smooth sliding movement of the mouse has been roughed up quite a bit by the loss of the relatively frictionless feet. Other than that? No problems whatsoever. The driver still work fine, and the mouse is as crisp and responsive as ever!UPDATE: 11/19/2008 - Still using the same mouse and it is still responsive as ever. I am no longer playing any MMORPG games, but I still play Battlefield 2142, I have been playing Crysis lately, and I am anticipating Dawn of War 2.

The mouse is still working beautifully and holding up very well! This mouse has sealed my positive opinion of Razer. Notice I have had it over two years!

Logitech G7 Laser Cordless Mouse Review

Logitech G7 Laser Cordless Mouse
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Logitech G7 cordless laser mouse is an impressive piece of PC hardware. More often than not for the casual PC user the mouse is overlooked (unless you still have one of those ancient ball mice where you have to pull out the ball and clean the rollers every other day), so Logitech smartly marketed their high end (in price and quality) G7 mouse toward the hardcore gamer segment, the segment who needs the best technology and needs it now. And its main draw--the accuracy and sensitivity of the mouse-- is geared towards that segment of FPS freaks who need that added edge of being more accurate in the sniper role, yet capable of turning and looking as swiftly as possible in the deathmatch or team arenas.

The main draw here is the 2000 dpi laser engine. And, having had experience with the entire line of Logitech's higher end mice--MX510, MX518, MX1000 and now, G7--I can say that the G7 is undoubtedly the most precise mouse I have ever used. The laser engine in the G7 makes a tangible difference in the FPS games I normally play. And ergonomically it fits my relatively small hands rather well. Think of it as a slightly heavier MX 510 or 518--it's about as narrow, and very similarly shaped to its predecessors. The G7, besides having state of the art laser technology and the previous gaming mice ergonomics, now has the added benefit of the tilt wheel. Why the tilt wheel didn't make an appearance in the older gaming mice remains a mystery to me.

Besides that the G7 keeps giving. For one, the high quality PTFE pads the mouse glides over are incredibly smooth. And of course the cordless freedom it offers. For those of you who worry about interference in cordless mice-you won't with the G7.It's not an issue in the slightest sense.Logitech claims the cordless technology in the G7 is "bulletproof", and that is an accurate statement. Finally the swappable battery packs are a great idea-not only will you always have juice, but having the ability to swap out batteries means being able to buy separate batteries down the road-a feature that hampers the otherwise capable MX1000's longevity in comparison.

Also, despite the fact that Logitech is marketing this mouse to the gamer segment, the G7's adjustable sensitivity switching is a boon for any type of mouse use that requires accuracy in movement.Photoshop and other paint program users can dial down the sensitivity for smaller, more precise actions on images that require it.Furthermore, the actual dpi settings are user-adjustable from 400 to 2000 dpi in 50 dpi segments, with 5 customizable settings using the included SetPoint software.Beyond that SetPoint allows for fully customizable buttons. The G7 is an extremely flexible mouse.

The two gripes that I have about the G7 may be major or minor depending on your mouse needs. First, while the G7 is more sensitive and more accurate than the MX1000, it features less buttons (most importantly the forward button on the left side/thumb area of the mouse).Secondly, this is an expensive mouse.Casual users will find it hard pressed to justify buying a mouse this expensive for casual use, even casual gaming use. Most will be satisfied with an MX1000 which is substantially cheaper and, despite being less sensitive and having a non-replaceable battery, has more buttons and is more than adequate for general use across the board.

Ultimately the G7 represents the pinnacle of mouse technology housed in a very comfortable, light, and cordless shell. You pay the premium, but for the most part you get what you pay for--if "insane to the point of overkill" accuracy and cordless reliability is what you're looking for.

I would consider myself a hardware junkie and a heavy gamer. That said this is one of the better mouses I've used in years. Before I get into the positives if you do not prefer a flat mouse profile this mouse won't be for you.Look into the Microsoft Sidwinder or Logitech G5 or G9 as those offer a higher profile to fit your hand if that is your preference.

The type of games I mainly play are shooters (COD4 lately), Word of Warcraft, and a few RTS'ers. In shooters the mouse is great.Tracking is spot on and quick. The sensor stops tracking at a lower height than most mice so if you are the type that picks up and moves the mouse around a lot, this is your mouse. The scroll wheel has a solid click while scrolling so it makes it easy to select weapons. There is no side clicking on the wheel just your old school wheel.I did find the click-down on the wheel sensitive and hit it accidently a few times.

The left and right click buttons are a nice solid click.More to like a logitech MX5xx series or G5 series mouse rather than a super sensitive click like the MS mice can be.The side buttons are what make the mice for me.Using the Razer software you can program all 4 side buttons (2 on each side) easily.Button 5 and 6 plus macros can be assigned to those 4 in any order. This is a great thing for games like WoW if you need lots of hot keys since this adds two more possibilities on the right side of the mouse. However it takes a bit of dexterity to get used to using the right side buttons.

The software is quite handy.I never have been a fan of software programs that are put out for mice, but this one is very clean and doesn't seem to bog the system down much.Lots of options to customize here and you can have several profiles set.To switch through them there's a button on the bottom of the mouse that cycles through them or you can switch through in the program. The pulsing logo can be turned on or off as well as the light on the wheel. This is great for bedroom gamers that want to get some sleep.Overall this is a great gamer's mouse with lots of options and buttons to go along with it.

I was pretty skeptical when first buying this as it was a company's first attempt at a mouse (mind you that Cooler Master generally focuses on cases and PSUs), but I was blown away by how good this mouse is.I've used a couple mouses in the past (from some lame wireless Microsoft mouses to a Logitech G5).I must saw that this is superior in almost every way to those mice.First off, I must say that the price for this mouse ($50) is generally the pricepoint for a good mouse. The G5 is around the same price (if you want a new one).So the price isn't a killer (which makes me very happy, because buying games makes me broke).Next, the shape:The shape is VERY similar to a G5, which I loved. The extra addon of weights is a perk over the G5.Also, the OLED screen is a major plus along with lasers that go up to 5600.I think it actually spoils me.I feel weird using a mouse without a screen now.

Although this mouse is great in many ways, it is not for everyone.I would only recommend this mouse to those with large hands (like me) and prefer the palm grip. This mouse is the most ergonomic I've had, but this opinion only applies to large-handed people. The claw grip also works but I find that it is difficult without removing all of the weights. This mouse is still a tad bit heavy if you prefer to claw your mouse. This mouse also should only be bought by gamers.Everyone else in my house finds it annoying because of the high level of sensitivity that it has. This is solved through setting up various sensitivities though. You should also be decently strong if you want to use this (no I'm serious!)The amount of force required to push the scroll down (middle click) is a pretty high amount (which may be good or bad for you). The positions of the extra buttons (which can the customized greatly from button pushes to scripts to macros). This mouse is also super sensitive. The review about the guy saying that he could move his cursor by blowing on his mouse is not exaggerating much.Just by typing on a keyboard that is on the same desk as a mouse will move it.You must be a semi-experienced gamer to appreciate this level of sensitivity.

As a gaming mouse, the CM Storm Sentinel Advance got it right in so many ways.
-5 profiles (each with a different set of controls for each button)
-Ability to change your profiles within seconds at any time (you can alter your dpi almost instantly without having to quit a game to change the settings)
-A OLED screen to help you pick your perfect dpi
-Customization of Lights is cool too (but i would still buy it without this)
-Super low to Super high dpi range
-Ergonomic grip (you also have a good grip for all those with sweaty hands)
-Good positioning of Customizable buttons
-Perfect Texture (Smooth yet grippy)

Some cons that may apply to you:
-only for gamers (or difficult to adjust to for nongamers)
-generally better for the larger handded people
-generally but not limited to palm gripping
-sensitive to the extreme
-large/decently heavy even without weights
-requires strength to middle click (doesn't really matter unless you play a game where you middle click frequently and you game for hours on end)

SteelSeries Xai Laser Gaming Mouse Review

SteelSeries Xai Laser Gaming Mouse
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Let me start off by saying that this is an awesome mouse. From the moment I took it out of the package, I loved the way it felt in my hand. I hold my mouse in a kind of hybrid style, I will actively switch between a "claw" style grip and a "palm" style grip while gaming/surfing or whatever i'm doing, and it feels great no matter how I grip it.The buttons have a nice sold click too them, not too hard, but just enough to eliminate any accidental clicks, which has been a problem for me with many mice (mouses?). the scroll wheel is great too, has a good solid feedback and has a nice clicky feel to it (no audible click but you can definitely tell when you have gone up or down a notch). The side buttons are well placed on the left side of the mouse, the right side, I had some issues with mis-clicking for the first day, and after that my grip had self adjusted to put my fingers just far enough away from it to prevent mis-clicks (I mean self adjusted as in i made no conscious effort to adjust my grip, i just noticed after the second day that I had stopped accidentally clicking the buttons). The DPI switch button is well placed, easy to press and fairly hard to mis-click. The glides on this mouse are some of the best that I have ever used, very smooth without feeling too slippery. The laser is dead accurate, I run a mid-high DPI setting for most of the things that I do, typically in the 1700-2100 range. While photoshopping I find it effortless to hold the cursor withing 1 pixel, while drawing a line, over seemingly endless distances without the slightest bit of jitter or pull (this is without using any of the software aides that make the cursor move "smoother" or "straighter").

However, the greatness of the hardware does not translate into the software for this mouse unfortunately. With the first Xai I got from amazon (it had a USP issue and kept turning off and resetting itself every 5 minutes or so) I installed the software from Steelseries' website and found it to be, well, crap. I found values kept resetting themselves and the hardware update that it installed into my mouse seemed to create more issues that had not been there before. So with my second Xai, i decided to forgo the software, and simply set up the mouse using the LCD on the bottom of the mouse. The process was fairly intuitive considering you are only using the scroll wheel to navigate the menu, although it did take a little longer to set it up this way. Overall this is an amazing mouse with the only real negative being the software. I give the mouse a 6/5 from the hardware standpoint and a 1/5 for software.

OK, if you don't want to read that wall of text, here's a sum-up

Pros:
+Great overall feel to the mouse
+Buttons have a good click to them and are well placed
+Great glides
+Best laser engine I have used
+Able to easily adjust settings without software

Cons:
-Software sucks

I would strongly recommend to anyone buying this mouse to avoid the software like the plague, just take the time to set it up using the handy LCD screen on the bottom and you will be much happier!

Razer Orochi Bluetooth Notebook Gaming Mouse Review

Razer Orochi Bluetooth Notebook Gaming Mouse
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this mouse after having lag issues with my Microsoft Mobile Memory Mouse over bluetooth. The MS mouse would lag behind my movements.Really bad when using my bluetooth headset on Skype or MS communicator. The Orochi totally fixed that issue for me! :)I recently bought a Razer Naga and was convinced of the quality of their mice. This is definitely a Razer mouse.Things you expect like a braided cable for wired mode, solid construction and the soft matte finish on the top with glossy sides are all there.

In thinking of a good way to review this mouse I realized a pattern. What I thought was my mobile mouse wish-list turned out to not be quite what I really wanted. The design of the Orochi had the features I didn't know I wanted.

It is a little larger than my previous mobile mouse, BUT it sits better in the hand and is more comfortable in long term use.
It isn't specifically ergonomically designed for right hand use, BUT the excellent ambidextrous design ends up feeling like it was custom designed for whatever hand you use.
It isn't rechargeable, BUT the AA batteries last longer.
The battery compartment is under the top buttons and not on the bottom, BUT it attaches via 3 magnets and is much easier to open/close.
Sure LEDs eat battery power, BUT they come on only when you move the mouse and go off when you stop (this is really fun to watch haha!) - note: you can also disable them for maximum battery life

There are a few key things to know when choosing this mouse

1) When not in wired mode the polling rate and dpi can not go as high. This is due to the bluetooth protocol design and not Razer's.They could have used a custom dongle like on the Mamba, but that would mean something else to carry and use to have wireless connectivity.Bluetooth was a good tradeoff. If you want ultimate performance, plug in the cable. You've got it in your included carrying case right?

2) The mouse's settings are stored on the mouse itself (very cool). If you want to reprogram them you have to plug in the cable.Again a tradeoff for bluetooth. Not bad, just something to be aware of.You can have 5 application profiles which change according to the game/app in use (or manually).

3) There are two buttons on each side. The ones on the opposite side from your thumb are not so easy to reach in the heat of action. This however allows for the ambidextrous design.By default these step through your pre-defined dpi sensitivity stages and are well designed to stay that way or use for actions you don't need as frequently.

I'm grasping to think of any real "con" against this mouse. If I had to say two things I would like changed it would be:Make it so the wheel can both ratchet and free-scroll (I got used to free scrolling when not gaming) and have the side buttons not recess quite so far as the bottom edge of the top matte part is kind of sharp.

If you are looking for a portable sized gaming mouse or have a Razer on your desktop already and want to take the experience with you pick one up!

Small update:
I just got my Kabuto mouse surface and I noticed that the on/off switch on the bottom of the mouse is a bit loose in the on position. This won't make it accidentally turn off, but it does make it jostle around a little on a surface that isn't perfectly flat (the kabuto is a bit bumpy from being rolled up in the package). This doesn't affect the mouse use or performance at all, just makes a little rattling noise when mousing.

Logitech MX 510 Performance Optical Gaming Mouse - Blue Review

Logitech MX 510 Performance Optical Gaming Mouse - Blue
Average Reviews:

I can't believe no one else has reviewed this mouse yet!I purchased the blue mouse, because well, blue is my favorite color. The MX 510 is fantastic- I love the placement of the buttons, and the auto-scroll buttons are especially handy in those situations where you have a very long document and the wheel button is too annoying to use.

The paint job on this mouse is amazing, no to mention that each paintjob is unique for every mouse.Overall, the mouse is surprisingly large, but it's comfortable and fits my hand well.Great buy!

So, I finally had a chance to test out the mouse.Wow, I used to use an old trackball, and this new one beats the living daylights out of it.It's TOO sensitive; in fact, I had to turn the sensitivity way down in order to shoot more accurately in various FPS games. However, I did not use the side buttons on the mouse for any first person shooter games because these can be hard to reach quickly during intense action moments. However, the big gain in accuracy and tracking is amazing; the fit and finish certainly doesn't hurt, and the mouse feels very solid.

I've been very happy with Logitech products, and this one is certainly a winner! For $40 by Amazon, what are you waiting for!Buy it!!!

Logitech MX510 Gaming Mouse 931162-0403 - Most PC games use a mouse as a controller but many of the current mice aren't ready to tackle the advanced technologies and speeds incorporated into the latest action games. In fast-paced first-person shooter games, whether you live or die is decided by the accuracy of quick, sharp mouse movements. By employing 12 bit reporting over standard 8-bit technology, this mouse can be more responsive and agile for critical movements required in more complex, fast-paced PC games. The MX510 is equipped with eight programmable buttons -- the obvious left/right mouse buttons and clickable scroll wheel, complemented by two easy Web navigation thumb buttons (back/forward) and two cruise-control scroll wheels. On the very top of the chassis, you'll also find an application-switch button.

Razer Abyssus High Precision Optical Gaming Mouse Review

Razer Abyssus High Precision Optical Gaming Mouse
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a great mouse for RTS and overall a near perfect item.I rarely give 5 stars but this is an extremely high quality item.I gave it a 4/5 on comfort because I bought it to use fingertip grip which I don't think is a very comfortable way to use a mouse. However, this mouse makes fingertip grip more comfortable than on others I've tried.I've tried Logitech mx500, g500, LMO, salmosa mini and could not fingertip grip them at all comfortably while this mouse makes it pretty comfortable. The mouse has prediction / mouse smoothing / angle snapping whatever you call it turned off which is great.I have had no acceleration problems with it although I don't use the large mousepad palm style that I used to with FPS games so I probably wouldn't notice them if they were there. As for the complaints that it doesn't work with certain mousepads I think the incident rates of that are extremely low.I use a goliathus control and have had 0 problems. It's extremely lightweight, only beaten by a salmosa mini or a LMO with the weight removed. You can definitely claw grip this mouse or even palm it though your entire palm will likely not contact the mouse which may not be a bad thing.I often claw or palm it without realizing it during casual browsing so it is a comfortable way to hold the mouse. The mouse does not need any drivers which is great.Just flip it to 1,000hz and whatever DPI you want and you're good to go.I like the mouse wheel quite a bit.It is very firm and is lower on the mouse than normal.I feel a lot more comfortable using it as a mouse3 button than on any other mouse I've tried. The texture is very good.I was concerned it would be too slippery but I have not found my fingers sliding out of position during play and also it allows for a certain rotation of the fingers which is needed for fingertip grip as you pull the mouse towards and away from you.The sides of the mouse are shaped like this < > but not nearly that extreme of an angle obviously. This allows for a good grip on the lower half of the mouse so you don't have to squeeze it so hard to pull it up off the mousepad to reposition. The top angle gives you a good resting place for your ring finger. That is definitely the most important ergonomic aspect of the mouse for me. With all the other mice I've tried there is often no clear place to put your ring finger, especially with fingertip grip. The liftoff distance is a little bit high compared to my g500 but still lower than most other mice I've tried. The only other thing I can think of to improve on is the angle and height that the mouse cord comes out of the mouse. It is just like other mice but I think that the cord should come out at a bit of an up angle so it doesn't catch on the mousepad as easily, especially when using a mouse bungee.Other than that it is really a great mouse. This mouse is only very slightly behind my mx510 overall and by far the best for RTS games.

I have no comment about the battlefield 2142 edition design but this mouse itself is still the best gaming mouse for now. The review with the person who got it DOA it happens and thats bad luck. That review is credible, the one about the person who couldn't even get it to work with battlefield don't blame the mouse. It has 3 DPI settings which u can switch with buttons on the fly, weights, non slip grip, Teflon feet, durable cable that doesn't get stuck what more do you want. I am going to buy another one soon, I hope it does get beat (competition makes everything better/cheaper) so they come out with something even better but until then this is the best.

Logitech G5 Laser Mouse (931376-0403) Review

Logitech G5 Laser Mouse
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been using Microsoft Intellimouse for many years, both at home and at work. The problem has always been that my right hand ring finger would hang off the side of the mouse and drag on the mouse pad. After many years of gaming and working abuse, my fingers have developed different forms of tendentious.Currently, it affects my ring finger the most, simply because it sits so much lower than my other fingers. This started my search for a new, more comfortable mouse.

It is well known that computer products designed for gamers are also designed with ergonomics in mind. The gamer is known to play for hours - the mouse needs to be able to support the hand position and its movement for all those hours. I chose the Logitech G5 for many reasons. First, the shape of the mouse now puts my irritated ring finger on the mouse itself - it no longer drags on the side. The mouse happens to be shaped better for my hand, so I cup the entire thing. This removed the necessity for severe wrist movement while operating the mouse.I can use my arm more than anything.

A few things separate this mouse from anything else I have every used.First, it is a laser mouse. It is leaps and bounds above an optical mouse. It is capable of 2000 dpi, which is an extremely fast movement - faster than anyone really needs. But at about 800 dpi, the mouse is perfect to control. Since the dpi is customizable, you can configure it to your liking. The bottom line is that you don't need much effort to move this mouse to where you want to go. This saves countless amounts of stress on your arm and hand as you work the computer.Less effort = less stress. So far, I can play a game for hours without my ring finger throbbing in pain.

This mouse also has a dpi control feature. You can use the software to set up to 5 dpi settings, which means you can change the sensitivity of the mouse on the fly. Playing a first person game with a sniper rifle and want absolute control? Drop it down a few dpi. Working in Photoshop doing pixel by pixel touch up or working on the details in Autocad? Drop the dpi down a notch.Want to speed up for web surfing?Click the button up and your mouse will go much faster. You can set any dpi by using the software and change its mode whenever and wherever you need it by using the buttons on the mouse.

The mouse wheel is a typical wheel, but with the added feature of left and right movement. Now you can scroll left and right and up and down within one web page. This is also very useful in Photoshop and the web.

The mouse also comes with a weight control system. I thought this was a gimmick, but it turns out to be very clever. You can add weight to a cartridge then slip it into the mouse to make it heavier. Some people, especially those who are used to wireless mice will find that this makes it feel like there are batteries. Personally, I keep the cartridge empty, but I like the option and it very well designed. If I want to make it heavier for very precise work (like Photoshop), it will only take seconds to make the mouse heavier.

One reviewer who wrote about this product gave it a bad review because of how the mouse worked within games. His arguments are somewhat valid. If you start a game, it will only recognize the two main mouse buttons (left and right). However, if you explore the mouse software and all its abilities, you will find that you CAN customize the mouse and its buttons and have it work in any game (even the thumb button). You do this by going to the Advanced Game Settings and actually finding the .EXE file that runs the game. Adding it to the list will unlock all the mouse functions within the game. I don't know why Logitech made it this way, and it is certainly a pain-in-the-neck to do for each game, but I know it works and I don't want people to not buy this fantastic mouse because of what was previously written. In addition, the person reviewing this mouse stated that he was missing his targets and icons on his computer. That has happened to me too, and I found that if you turn off "mouse acceleration" and the "smart mouse" options, the mouse moves at a legitimate speed. Once I turned those off, I can hit my target with precision.

The bottom line is that the mouse software is very complex and needs to be explored in order to get the full potential from this mouse. Most gamers will be able to do this and Logitech does provide a help button on every menu. Once configured, this is a dream mouse. It is easy to use and contoured perfectly for my hand. If you are looking for a mouse to help ease your pain, then this is it. If you are looking for a mouse to increase your gaming performance, than buy this mouse now.I have already increased my accuracy in Half-Life 2 and F.E.A.R. because of the laser and the control over the dpi. I have been very happy with the mouse and I recommend it to all PC users. The only negative - it does not come with MAC OSX software and Logitech does not have any of their website, so I will have to wait to upgrade my mouse at work. Otherwise, this is a perfect mouse - well designed, well made, and very, very precise.

Razer DeathAdder 3G Infrared Gaming Mouse Review

Razer DeathAdder 3G Infrared Gaming Mouse
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
A gaming mouse (high dpi laser and wired rather than wireless) has a quickness and consistency that wireless laser mice just cannot match. I have owned a number of gaming mice over the years and while I have liked them all, I think this one is the very best so far.

The most important issue here is the shape of the mouse. The top (left and right) buttons of this mouse are a continuous part of its top surface rather than being separate buttons like on the Diamondhead or the Copperhead. For me, this is important because it makes the mouse feel much smoother when my hand rests on it. As a result, my hand rests more naturally on this mouse than any other.

Another important issue is the carefully thought-out shape of the basic right and left buttons on this mouse. Note that these buttons have a subtle up-and-out curvature that allows one's fingers to rest more naturally and to click faster and with greater precision than with the uniformly downwardly curved (or convex) buttons on mice made by manufacturers like, say, Logitech.

Previously, I liked the shape of the Microsoft 6000 gaming mouse (not to be confused with the ubiquitous Microsoft 6000 wireless mouse) the best. But the shape of this mouse is clearly better.

Many gamers do like the Logitech mice, but I have always felt that the curvature and shape the G5 and MX518 mice is a bit off. The problem is that the fingers do not rest as naturally relaxed and yet poised on a downwardly curved surface as they do on a surface with a slight and subtle upturn at the front edge of the basic right and left buttons.

Speed and control:
This mouse is extremely precise and it is easy to adjust its sensitivity with the proper drivers.

Vista Drivers must be downloaded:
My operating system is Vista Premium Home. While the print on the box that the mouse came in proclaimed that this mouse was Vista ready, it turned out that there were no Vista drivers on the CD ,so I had to download drivers from the manufacturers support site. This proved fairly easy though so I do not consider this a serious issue.

Adjustable Lights and the Look:
I do not like the purple lights on the wheel and on the logo that are always shown in the pictures of the Razer mice. Accordingly, I was delighted to realize that turning these lights off is a simple matter of clicking on two buttons in the driver setting panel. Once the lights have been turned off the mouse looks much plainer (and much better too in my opinion).

Logitech G9 Laser Mouse Review

Logitech G9 Laser Mouse
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been a Logitech gaming-mouse user/lover for a long time. In fact, the last four mice I've used with my gaming rig have been the MX510 (Blue), MX518, G5 (1st version) and now the G9.

The G9 is the perfect combination of the old G5 (precision, accuracy and on-the-fly resolution adjustments) and the MX revolution (with that killer mouse wheel), stuffed into in a customizable, comfortable and easy to control form factor.

Pros:

-I really like the new weight style much better than the G5. The weight "tray" is hidden under the grip so there is no way it can just pop out like on the previous generation mouse. For me, a properly weighted mouse is key in FPS. Too light and you are all over the screen. Too heavy and you are too late.
-Not only can you change the weights, but you can also change the grips to suit your playing style and the color of the LED indicators. I prefer the Wide Load grip for my big hands and the blue LEDs to match my Microsoft Reclusa Gaming Keyboard (Black).
-As long as you are a "righty", it's very comfortable, even after some marathoning. Like all previous Logitech mice I've owned, ergonomics and comfort are never lost in the design.
-Another great addition is the ability to save up to 5 profiles to the mouse's internal memory. No drivers or software needed to load up your custom mouse settings. There is a switch on the bottom that lets you toggle through your profiles. Perfect for LAN parties when you might not be gaming on your own rig.
-Scrolling with the Micro Gear is a blast when not gaming. There is a switch under the mouse that lets you toggle between what I call the "click" mode (a must for weapon changing in FPS) and the "scroll" mode (a must for scrolling web pages and long documents).
-The gaming-feet surface is much improved. I use this mouse with a SteelSeries SteelPad QcK+ mouse pad and it is smooth as butter. I eventually plan on moving to a solid surface pad as I've heard they can improve accuracy with less friction.
-There are two thumb buttons on the left side. I know this was added to newer model G5 (my older version didn't have this) and it's a warm welcome. These are a must for forward/back functionality when you browse the web.

Cons:

-The Setpoint software is a little flaky. I chalk this up to being an early release. It took a couple reinstalls to finally get it to work correctly. Its possible previous software versions on my PC caused this issue. Everything works now.
-I can't use my wrist pad with this mouse. I know it sounds weird, but the back of the mouse isn't as long as the G5 and it slopes downward in a way that forces your wrist to touch your mouse pad. Because of this, it works best without an elevated wrist pad behind it. If you do try to elevate your wrist/forearm, it can be pretty uncomfortable. No biggie, I'll make due.
- $100 price. Ouch, but I've gotta have the latest and greatest.

So there you have it. I'll update this review as I put it through more testing.

Be sure to check out the customer photos section. I took some photos of the G9 side-by-side with my old G5. Enjoy!
