LUXOR Pharaoh's Challenge Review

LUXOR Pharaoh's Challenge

I can't figure out why that other reviewer gave this game three stars. It's a great game.

I was impressed with how well this translated to the "small screen."The images are crisp and clear, the controls are highly responsive (lag time would kill you on this game), and it is generally an entertaining time-waster.If you're thinking of getting it for a child, understand that there is really no educational value, although I think it encourages cognitive planning. My 7-year-old, who loves the Luxor computer games, is crazy for this one.She is able to play it without the frustration she has experienced with many popular children's DS titles (i.e. the ones with teenage TV personalities on the cover). She figured out the controls without my help, and I didn't hear from her for at least 20 minutes, except, "I'm on level 4!."I enjoy it, as well.

True, it is not terribly different from the computer version.I consider that a positive. We were expecting the Luxor we know and love, which is what we got.If you are interested in a "test drive," go to the Gamehouse website and download the 60-minute trial of one of the computer Luxor games. That should give you enough of a taste to decide if you will like this. The Luxor versions for the computer are the same basic idea as this:shooting marbles at a marble "snake" to make the snake disappear before it gets to the end of the track.

Jewel Quest Expedition Review

Jewel Quest Expedition
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Jewel Quest is a fun game - the story line that provides that background is pretty lame. 98% of the game revolves around solving "Bejeweled" type puzzles of increasing difficulty. Pretty fun

MY only complaint is that at $30 Jewel Quest is one of the more expensive games for the DS. In fact for an additional $5 you can buy Zelda.... which is more of a true game.Jewel Quest is more along the lines of a game you would buy for a cell phone. It is fun and is great at killing time - but it isn't too in depth.

Pro's

- Fun puzzles can help kill significant time on flights.
- The DS stylus works very well for this game
- Lots of variety in the puzzles
- I like the use of the "Gold Coins" that allow you to complete one unmarked spot.Con's

- A little expensive for the game's content - I think $20 is more appropriate but to each their own.
- The "story" is more annoying than anything.

As a whole - not bad - definitely worth buy if you ever see the game discounted on Amazon or on a discount shelf at a local store!

Zoo Keeper Review

Zoo Keeper
Average Reviews:

What could be simpler than matching three or more like items in a row and clearing them from the board? Not much and that's the basic control scheme of my new addiction, Zoo Keeper.

Like Othello and Tetris, Zoo Keepers controls and rules are simple enough for any type of gamer to understand right away, yet the gameplay is varied and can be rather deep.Aside from the basic game of meeting the levels quota of animal tiles to progress to the next level, there is a Quest Mode that gives you challenges like only matching one type of animal and Time Attack in which you only have 6 minutes to clear as many animal tiles as possible.

My favorite feature though is 2 Player Battle. If you have a friend with a Nintendo DS, you can play against each other wirelessly with only one Zoo Keeper game.Download time to the second DS is under a minute so before you know it you're battling your friend. For every animal tile and combo you score, your opponents timer is reduced.

Other games may have flashier graphics and bigger hype machines but few can rival Zoo Keeper in sheer fun.A must for every DS owner who likes puzzle games.

Using the Touch Screen, players tap the Nintendo DS stylus to swap the positions of animals on the screen to create lines of three or more of the same type. These animals are then "captured," allowing other animals to fall into their place. Zoo Keeper includes a variety of play modes to ensure that gamers have depth of gameplay. Players also can take advantage of the DS Wireless Communication to play simultaneous two-player modes that only requires one Nintendo DS Zoo Keeper Game Card.

Jewel Quest Review

Jewel Quest
Average Reviews:

I recently started playing several computer games, and this one was recommended to me by a friend - she said it could be addicting, and I must say that she was right!

I have been playing Jewel Quest on and off for several months now, and it seems as if the levels will never end.I think this is a good thing, because once you solve a game, you usually don't play it again.Because of the sheer # of levels, this game can provide many, many hours of enjoyment (or frustration....)

One of the great features of this game is that you are never made to start all over again - You keep working on the same board until you conquer it.After you've attempted the same board several times without beating it, you are given the option to just skip that particular level, and move on.I personally never choose that option, but I like to know that the option is available if I get too frustrated with the difficulty of a particular section.

The goal of Jewel Quest is to match various items - you must match at least 3 of the same item in a row or colum.By doing this, you turn the "sand" tiles to "gold", and you must get the entire grid gold within a specific period of time.It may sound easy, but as you move along the levels, it actually gets quite difficult.

Overall, I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys matching games where there is increasing levels of difficulty. My thought is that it's probably more appropriate for adults as opposed to children.

7 Wonders of the Ancient World 2 Review

7 Wonders of the Ancient World 2
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My favorite part of this game is the mini-game which challenges players to rely on logic to make the right moves to free the star, cornerstone or other object.

The game comes with two modes: Regular for building the wonders one by one, and free play where you can revisit and play any unlocked wonder except the secret one. After completing construction of all eight buildings, the game enhances its replay value by assigning you a rank and taking you back to Stonehenge without starting over on points or difficulty.

Anyone disappointed with 7 Wonders of the Ancient World should try the immensely improved 7 Wonders II. For those who haven't played the original, skip it and head straight to the sequel.

Bejeweled Twist Review

Bejeweled Twist
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I love this new updated version of the fun Bejeweled game. Much more fun to rotate than drag the jewels.
You just click on set of 4 and keep clikcing til it rotates to where you make at least 3.Then there are the flaming bomb jewels. If you match them they explode all around. But my sons think the lightening ones are the coolest. When they are matched, theywill do a lightening strike to destroy jewels across and down in t shape. See how many lines you can destroy.

Very fast moving and very fun for all ages that can click and move a mouse. The graphics are very colorful and make this game fun and exciting.Great Family game highly reccommend for all.

Product Description:
Bejeweled Twist from PopCap is the most ambitious follow-up yet to the Bejeweled franchise of games. The original Bejeweled was the game that launched the "casual gaming" craze, with game mechanics that anyone can pick up and enjoy, and now with Bejeweled Twist, PopCap has added more depth and strategy with a twisting maneuver.

Bejeweled Twist's lightning gems result in big scores. View larger.

Updated graphics deliver crisp new backgrounds and animations. View larger.

Play four different modes: Classic, Challenge, Zen and Blitz. View larger. A New Twist on the Wildly Popular Game
PopCap has sold more than 25 million Bejeweled games, with over 350 million copies downloaded, making it one of the most successful game franchises in history. Bejeweled Twist was four years in the making, and brings an exciting spin on the classic gameplay: instead of dragging the jewels around, you rotate them. The goal is still to create a line of three or more identical jewels, and each successive turn in which you do so gives you a multiplier for even more points. A key difference from the older games is that you don't have to make a match with every turn.
The graphics have been updated as well, with new backgrounds and animations. The graphics are crisper and more modern while still retaining the fun, colorful look of the old games. The new game exhibits a high level of polish and production values, including nice animations in between levels, fun explosion effects when power-ups are used, and extras like being able to watch an instant replay of high-scoring matches.
Four Different Play Modes
Bejeweled Twist features four different play modes: Classic, Challenge, Zen and Blitz. Classic mode lets you progress through increasingly difficult levels where you try to create jewel chains before a bomb detonates. Challenge mode creates specific tasks for you to complete, such as destroying ten gems in one move. In Blitz mode, you frantically try to accumulate as many points as you can within a certain amount of time. And in Zen mode, you can play a relaxing game without any obstacles or timers.
There are various power-ups that can be used for higher scores, such as a lightning gem, which you'll receive by matching five gems at once. The lightning gem then eliminates the entire vertical or horizontal column or row where the gem is located. When a you get consecutive matches to max out the chain meter, you'll receive a fruit gem that destroys all same-colored gems.
Like all great puzzle games, you'll be surprised how fast that time flies while playing Bejeweled Twist.

I got this game as a gift from my family. I have the first Bejeweled game on my cell phone and it is a good way to waste time, while waiting for kids to finish sports practices. This game is even more fun! I like the updated versions included in this game. You can choose the type of gameyou want to play. There is a puzzle option, classic, timed (my favorite) and endless. My teenagers love this game too and they also love Peggle that comes with it. It is a good way to keep the mind sharp! I had no problems getting this game loaded on my Mac and I am surprised anyone did have problems. Pop cap games are all usually pretty good.

Bejeweled 3 Review

Bejeweled 3
Average Reviews:

Is there anything this game can't do?For only 200 megabits of space, it is unbelievably amazing how much this game has to offer. The HD graphics are out of this world. And that's right from the start menu, to the actual playing of the game.

Bejeweled 3 has 8 different games you can play.4 of them which you can play as soon as you begin, and then the other 4 games you have to unlock by completing different challenges through out the other 4 games.I have unlocked 2 so far.Which were fairly easy. The other 2 to unlock are a bit of a challenge.Another amazing new feature are the number of badges you could win while playing. You can also build up in rank the more you play.

4 Basic Games:
*Classic Mode - The classic Bejeweled game we all know and love. This part hasn't changed at all.So hardcore Bejeweled fans will be pleased.
*Zen Mode - The endless version of the game that we also adore. However prepare to adore it even more. (Oh, yes! It's possible)The new zen version now has an option that it is just too good to be true. Can't stand the music of bejeweled? (Why anyone would is beyond me) Well, now there is an option to replace the music with actual relaxing sounds of nature.Yeah, you heard me.It's like having a sound machine on your computer. So if the music doesn't do it for you, perhaps the different sounds will please your ears.
*Lightning Mode - You only have a minute to to match as many gems as you can, but some gems have extra time on them.Match an extra time gem and it adds an additional 5,10, or 30 seconds to the clock.
*Quest Mode - The brand new main feature that makes Bejeweled 3 what it s.In Quest mode you have 40 different challenging puzzles to complete.Definitely time consuming!

With all the different ways to play as stated above, it's pretty fair to say that this game is highly addictive. The endless possibilities of the game are so entertaining that it's quite difficult to become bored while playing.

My only somewhat complaint is the music and backgrounds.I am not saying they are horrible. On the contrary the music and backgrounds are very relaxing to listen to, and look at.But you don't get the exact same euphoric feeling that you did from the previous versions of Bejeweled. The music and the background themes are very child like fairy tale oriented.Nothing wrong with that. It's in no way annoying. But what I loved about the older versions of Bejeweled was that relaxing trance like music, and tranquil backgrounds that made you feel like you were taking a slow trip to a futuristic paradise. This version lacks that experience. While the music and backgrounds on Bejeweled 3 are still very nice, the feeling you get from them makes you feel like you took a trip back in time by a few hundred years.Which is just not my cup of coffee (I don't say tea because I don't like tea)

Overall though this won't fail to disappoint any fans of the older Bejeweled games. The creators have definitely outdone themselves, and the game is worth more than $20.So if you're looking for a cheap, but very fun way to relax.Look no further.Happy gem matching!
