Pokemon HeartGold Version Review

Pokemon HeartGold Version

I bought both Heart Gold and Soul Silver for my nine-year-old boy.I have lupus with photosensitivity and don't get to spend a lot of time outside with him, and I don't like to just plug him into a video game, so I compromise by playing video games with him. Those games have to be interactive and interesting enough to not drive me crazy. The ds pokemon games take care of both those concerns.

He chose Soul Silver for his game, so this one is mine. It's been years since I looked at the old Gameboy Color games, but this one seems to be just like the old one, except for the enhancements that came along with the double screen and the touch pad.The music includes more recent themes as well, but it makes me happy to hear the older ones.

My son absolutely loves the pokewalker.I love the idea of the pokewalker, but I haven't used mine, yet.We have used his to take his pokemon down to the park to take advantage of the not-too-bright sunlight.

The figurine is cute, but Ho-Oh is not as well-crafted as Lugia.Lugia is magnificent and is rendered consistently with the better graphic capabiiities of later games.Ho-Oh looks like he's straight off the Gameboy Advance. At best.I'm still very happy with the purchase, though.

Madagascar Kartz Review

Madagascar Kartz
Average Reviews:

We bought this game for our 5-year-old son for Christmas as his first game to play on our PS3.It's moderately fun for grown-ups but very challenging for the little ones --I have 2 major complaints with this game:

#1- There is no "free driving" mode where a kid can just have fun driving around and check out the tracks. It is NOT fun for a 5-year old to come in 6th place every time when he really just wants to drive around. This is his first racing game and we have to teach him about power-ups, tricks, turbo, and shortcuts and it's hard to do that in this game since it is set up to be hyper-competitive.

#2- On Multiplayer mode you cannot disable the computer characters.I'd love to be able to just play one on one with my son in order to teach him the tracks but again the computer players make this very difficult and I wind up with a frustrated 5-year old in 6th (or 5th if I hold back and just follow him around the track)place.

I've been playing games for about 20 years, we have a PS3 and a Wii at the house and play a lot of games. I understand the concept of racing games, but thought that one marketed solely at kids would be a bit-more kid-friendly.They already had the game built--would it have cost them anything to put in a free-race mode?We were hoping to be able to have this game that all three of us could play on the PS3 but actually my son is so frustrated we'll probably be putting this one away for 6 months to a year and get him back on some of my Wii games.

Disney Jonas Review

I received this game as a present from my friend and was so excited to get it. It's a pretty cute game, and some of the activities are actually challenging. The way the graphics are drawn kind of bothers me, it's hard to describe, but it's still cute. You can play in three different modes: mini games, which are unlocked in story mode, story mode where you play 6 different episodes based on real episodes of the show JONAS, and then there is performance mode where you play a "concert", featuring songs from the show. I'm only on episode three but I can already tell that this is a fun game. If you're a huge JoBro fan, buy it!

The Sims 3 Console Review

The Sims 3 Console
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have played practically every incarnation of The Sims since its debut (and Maxis games before that), and EA has finally brought the full experience to console. It has been a long journey with plenty of trial and error, and it certainly helps that console hardware now comes close to the power of PC gaming. I played Sims 3 on PC, but due to hardware issues and my disdain for EA's DRM technology I haven't spent my usual mini-lifetime within my sim's universe; I am thrilled to now have the option to play on the PS3. The game even seems enhanced. The added trophies, karma points and powers, challenges, and more fit in nicely, and the controls are easy to pick up. Challenge points can even be used to unlock content that would cost actual money on PC (like the steampunk collections).
There are only a few things that don't seem to flow, the major point being build/buy mode. It is so easy to switch in and out of build and buy on PC - just a click - but now I must hit the select button and navigate over to build/buy mode. The town map is also accessed from the select button menu. These things take away from the larger feeling of The Sims 3 PC version, especially since that aspect was one of the few improvements over The Sims 2 (PC). The continuity could be improved with Build/Buy and the Town Map being on a menu that is quicker to access. The town also seems small after playing the previous games with expansions. (Though I imagine there will be plenty of add-on content to come.) I don't think the loading times are bad, but I have been playing New Vegas. Anyone who has played Sims with about six expansions installed will think the loading times are lightning-quick.
The slight annoyances do not take away from the full game experience. All the great aspects are still there; pretty much everything is customizable, the graphics are gorgeous, and the music and sound are fantastic. I missed being as engrossed in the lives of my sims as I was playing Sims 2 on PC, and I am once again delving that deeply into the world of The Sims.
