Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Review

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is simply a fun action game with a lot of old school game play. Both new and older gamers will find this to be an addictive game.
All of the characters "turtles/splinter" are playable in story mode. The game rewards the player with new features after attaining certain items or completing different levels. It certainly keeps your interest because you want to know whats around the next corner.
Each character has unique fighting styles and the player will have to learn how to employ the turtles' weapon of choice in order to defeat the evil Shredder and the foot clan.
The graphics are cel-shaded and give the game a cartoon look which is really a break from the realistic looking games of late. This game is purely an action fighter game that will remind some gamers of the early side scrollers. The only difference... you can move in 3d.There are no platforms to fall from which is better for the younger gamers. It would have been nice being able to throw your enemies from cliffs/bridges that you encounter in the game.I guess that would be too violent. :-) ;-)
TMNT utilizes the same actors' voices from the new tv series and new cartoon footage exclusive to the game. The background music can be a little annoying at first, but there are options to adjust the sound/music effects which is pretty good. Most areas in the game are good, but one level of the game will have you wishing that you could stop the repeating sound of a female annoucers advising of a security intrusion by the turles.
Overall this is a good and fun game that is not too hard or easy to play. There is a lot of frantic button mashing involved in order to survive the onslaught of the foot clan. Two player cooperative is a feature that is added so bring a friend and get ready to kick some shell.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project Review

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project

I love this game even 15 years later! This is an awesome beat-em up game with everyone's favorite four turtles, Donatello, Michaelangelo, Leonardo and Raphael. The game starts when the turtles are vacationing on a beach, the evil Shredder comes and steals Manhattan Island. The turtles go back into action, brawling baddies on the beach and then surfboarding back to NYC (first 2 levels).

If you've played TMNT the Arcade Game, its the same system, just with more diverse fun. The graphics and gameplay are taken straight from the previous TMNT Arcade Game (NES port). New moves include throws, and each turtle has their own special manufer that will drain health when used. There is a wide array of character bosses from the cartoons and movies. Rocksteady, Bebop, Tokka, Rahzer, Super Shreder, Krang (and his body), Groundchuck, Slash and more.

More foot soldiers, more tricks, traps and obsticles! Its an amazingly great game! It was awarded best game of 1992 by Electronic Gaming. Find this game, rent it, buy it, play it and you're in for some fun, especially with a friend as another turtle.

After fighting crime and evil for so long, even the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles need a vacation. So, Michaelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo, and Raphael head down to Florida for some well deserved rest and relaxation. But after their archenemy, Shredder, tries to steal the island of Manhattan and kidnap April O' Neil, the guys' favorite reporter the Turtles have to high-tail it back home to save the day. You'll have to get through eight huge levels of action as you brave the Typhoon Tide Pool, Baron Von Spleen's Battle Barge, and a host of other weird obstacles. But you'll have access to jet-powered surfboards, a blimp, and a spaceship in addition to all sorts of new moves the boys can pull off. You'd better hurry, or Shredder is going to escape with your hometown and your best human friend!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash-Up Review

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash-Up

A lot of reviewers have compared Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash Up to Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and I think the comparison is pretty good. The gameplay feels a lot like Super Smash Bros. Brawl, even going so far as incorporating strong "A button" moves. I think if you like Smash and want more, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash Up would be a good addition.

A lot of reviewers have criticized this game for not having a lot of characters. I think there's some truth to that, but not a whole lot. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash Up does have fewer characters initially, but there are at least 10 secret characters. Some of these have been revealed online, but a few haven't (if you look at the game website, you'll see at least 6 question marks for additional secret characters). I have no idea if these secret characters are going to be exciting additions, like Leatherhead but it's too early to tell.

Also, let's remember that Super Smash Bros. Brawl had more characters, but less than half were even decent and most were lousy. Whenever I played with my friends, we tended to only use about 3 characters each. Frankly, adding a bunch of Jigglypuffs to the character roster did not really do much for me. By contrast, with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash Up, I get the sense that most of the characters are roughly equivalent and good to play with.

This game also has a few innovations not seen in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I like the stages a lot better. More room to fight, as well as more interaction between the stage and the characters. In one stage, a giant alligator will eat your character if you're not careful. Also, the characters can hang onto walls.

At the end of the day, is this game as good as Super Smash Bros. Brawl? Probably not. Smash was a unique game. However, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash Up is fun in its own right and worth trying if you want more Smash-style playing or different characters.
