(More customer reviews)This game was really surprisingly good. I must admit ,at first I thought this game wouldn't be really good, but it really exceeded my expectations. The game begins when jak , daxter and their friends are invited for the reading of Krew's will. (Krew was the big fat guy from jak 2 .)When they get there, they meet his daughter, Rayn. she pours everyone some drinks , so they'll have a toast for krew. After they all finish drinking, Rayn plays Kre's will. He appears as a hologram , and he informs everyone that the drinks they just had have been poisoned!(He even poisoned his own daughter). He says that his associates will give them the antidote only if they win the Kras city championship race (since it was his dream to win this championship), so jak and his friends are forced to race for him.

Now , through the entire game , you don't just drive one car. There are 12 cars you can drive , and you can fully customize them , and replace their body parts. You can change their front fenders, rear fenders , trunks , wheels , and more. You can earn more body parts by winning races. You can even change the color of your car, and tune it's performance.

One good addition to the game is the expanded secrets menu. You can get tons of secrets(by buying them with money you get from winning races),such as extra accesories for your car , extra movies, extra characters to drive with , etc. It's all just real awesome.

There are three modes you can play , multiplayer (which includes online and local modes),adventure, in which you play as jak and advance through the storyline , and exhibition , where you can shoose different characters to play with(all of which have different attributes and characteristics) , and you can race in any track and in any type of race for money.

The jak series has always been known for their variety. And this aspect returns here too. The game has normal races , where you have to just finish a number of laps around the track , but there are also tons of other game modes , like death match , where you just have to destroy the other racers,sport hunt , where you have to kill a bunch of monsters , death race, where you have to shoot as many cars as you can(not real racers, but weak smaller cars) and many , many more.

Now , about the pick-ups. There are 4 types of pick-ups here. One is health , which simply heals you car. The other is turbo , which let's you use a turbo boost . The third is a weapon power up which lets you use forward - facing weapons , such as machine guns , missiles , etc. And the last one is backward - facing weapons , such as mines , oil streeks , etc.

This game is a really awesome game. Don't worry about the fact it's a racing game.

Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy Review

(More customer reviews)I am a 40-something gamer and as an adult gamer time is limited.I usually have a million and one things all in competition for my precious free time.That is why I love Jak and Daxter.The game is very easy to learn, only took me about 5 minutes, and is straight forward in communicating the mission objectives.The best attribute in this game is the ability to save anywhere!There are times when I only have a hour or a half hour to play any games.A game that requires I play for a minimum of two hours before hitting a save point is a game I would tend to avoid.But Jak and Daxter and its "save anywhere" function is just what all adult gamers have been looking for.But be warned, this game is highly addictive.So, while you may sit down with the intention of playing for only a hour, several will go by as you become totally immersed in the great graphics and hilarous voice acting.I just can't wait to see what that little guy will say next, he cracks me up!I highly recommend this game for all ages, and especially for busy adult gamers who are looking for a quick game fix inbetween PTA meetings.

(More customer reviews)First and foremost, dont buy this game expecting to play the original on a different world.While some of the controls are the same and the characters are the same, the gameplay is very different.This may turn some people off, and it may make others look at this game is a very different light.
Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy was a great game, and so is the sequal, Jak II.One of the first things that you will notice is that the "hub" world, Haven City, is HUGE! There are numerous alleys, shops, buildings, caverns and dark places for you to explore.The city is massive and covers a lot of ground.The setting has been darkened up a bit as well, Jak has gone through some...interesting changes since we saw him last.His powers have increased...as well as his attitude.
The majority of gameplay is taken up by mission structured objectives.You need to go to point A and do B and your reward is C.The missions range in scope from racing to escort missions.The game developers have obviously taken a hint from the Grand Theft Auto series in terms of gameplay.Virtually every vehicle can be hijacked and ridden around the city.Guards are patrolling the streets, and if you make trouble, they will chase you down and shoot some pretty wicked weapons in your general direction- to avoid them you need to either hide or outrun them.
The camera is great, and can be repositioned to help you out with the trouble spots.As expected, the graphics are smooth and lush, with a great style of animation incorporated into the final product.There are no load times and the scenery flows together nicely.As I mentioned earlier, the world on which we find outselves is massive and there are many objectives to accomplish before we can unlock all its secrets.The addition of a map option is a great help as the size of Jak II's world(s) can sometimes be overwhelming and confusing.
The only thing that detracts from the game is the difficulty level on some of the missions.I have found myself trying for over an hour at times to clear one objective or another.The game can be downright brutal, cruel, sadistic and even petty...yet I always find myself going back into the fray for more.This game is unique and by all means shoud be rented before you go and buy it.Naughty Dog has tried something new, they have tried to grow with the times and create something that stands on its own.As mentioned earlier, some might be put off by the new direction that Jak and Daxter have taken, others will applaud the developers for the fresh new look.
Its a mixed bag...some like it, some hate it...the best advice: rent before you buy...its safer that way.
