Make sure the CD is in the drive, then run it from this new shortcut.

This software gives you insight to the lives of the six original American Girls and lets you design and print out their clothes in paper doll style. It also comes with six paper dolls for use with the clothes that you print. This program was useful for studying different periods in American History, but sadly it is not at all compatible with Win XP or Vista.

My daughter, like many, is infacutated with everything Barbie, She was 3 when I bought this for her and she played it for hours.I was amazed at how many times she would change an outfit, and slightly horrified at her make-up choices.Artistically, this is a great game.My daughter loved being able to create a look for her Barbie, and I got a kick out of seeing what she would come up with.
First, you choose an event. It could be a birthday party, a movie premiere, a first date etc... and then you basically cycle through 4 boutiques: Hair, Nails, Clothing, and Make-up.Once you finish those you get a short replay of your makeover and then watched a short animation of your finished character participating in whatever event you chose.I think I would have appreciated it more if it gave you more options for the hair. It's inconsequestial fun, but fun nonetheless...definitely for the girly girl.

This game requires DirectX 9.0 and video card that supports 3D and 32mb (not 16 as stated above) of video RAM. I've got a Sony VAIO 2.66ghz P4 with all the latest drivers and updates. This system tests out as optimal on all sorts of web sites for evaluating your system. However, this game will not run on this system. Unless you've got a system specifically set up for gaming, I think theres a pretty good chance it won't run on your system. Don't disappoint your little girl with this software. Before buying, install the latest DirectX from the Microsoft website, then go START>Run>dxdiag, then run all the tests. If you don't pass the Direct3D 9 test, don't buy it.

I downloaded this game online and loved it. I could not stop playing it once I started. Compared to other fashion games I have played, this one is by far the best. It allows you to dress models in fashions pre-selected. However, you must match up shoes, tops and bottoms in order to specific styles listed above the model's head. My ten year old daughters are also big fans of this game. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves fashion or wishes to go into fashion. It is really fun and entertaining.

I can't believe how fun this game is!!!When I bought it I had $30 in my wallet after my heavy spending.LOL but i bought this and stuck it in my Wii system.WOW!!!!So fun!!You can have catfights with your roomates you don't like, have a boyfriend you never see but talk too on the phone, fall in love with your driver, buy a whole new wardrobe, get a makeover, get fit at the fitness club, eat at the local food chain, walk one of the catwalks (theres 2),take photographs and wow just walk around the beautiful home(sadly, you only get one though). It is the best $30 i've ever spent. You can't do all of this in real life so why not enjoy it in a game??By the way,the photos, hair and makeup you do on your own.It makes it much more fun!!Plus you get graded on everything!!But as you probably thought, you don't get any excercise.WRONG!!!You defenitly get a real workout at the fitness center and during catfights.WOW,I ache after everytime LOL!!I have had it for about 1 month now and haven't beat week 2 yet LOL!!I am not saying it's hard but it will defenitly last you more than 1 day!!I would make this purchase again and get it for my BFF's!!

Fashion Studio Paris Review

My hubbie bought this for me since I was finished w/ Cooking mama dinner w/ friends. I have enjoyed playing it. One thing you should know you have to hold the DS like a book.(at first I was like is there a defect in this game but no this is just the way it played!!)

Here's a little bit about it: You are opening up your own boutique(Your own brand of course) You create your own looks by using different types of fabric. You unlock make-up, bags that you can also customize to match your outfits, you also unlock jewerly, scarves, & sunglasses. You get to pick from different hair colors and hair styles. Everytime you make 3-4 outfits using various things that are unlocked you move up a floor which unlocks a few more dresses, bags, etc. There are 8 floors.

Cons: More outfits should be unlocked not just 3-4 at the most at a time.
Should have the option of dresses not just tops & skirts.
THE MAIN CON THOUGH IS YOU CAN ONLY SAVE 10 DESIGNS AT A TIME WHICH REALLY SUCKS!! I SPEND SOME TIME GETTING EACH OF MY OUTFITS JUST RIGHT AND I CAN ONLY KEEP 10!! Should be maybe 15 I think that would be cool!
The coloring system takes some getting used too. The game is pretty short. I got it Fri. and I'm already on the 8th floor. The only good thing is you can make two brand names which is good.

All in all though this is a pretty fun game & I will be playing it for awhile but I recommend getting this from Target for 19.99!!

*What would make it cooler if you could have your outfits categorized in Summer, fall, winter, etc but alas it is not to be or maybe if you could name your models*

OMG! High School Review

This is a set of three complete games, each with a female high school student as the protagonist. Mean Girls is a match 3 type game that can be played with a nice or evil strategy of your choosing.Clueless is a fashion matching game that I thought was a lot of fun and actually had a lot of content and kept me busy for quite a while.Pretty in Pink is a hidden object game that can have different endings depending on which types of extra objects you find. Each of these games follows the story of the movie on which it is based. These story lines are revealed to you in the form of dialogue between characters as you play the games.Overall I would say that these are good quality games of the casual game genre and would probably only appeal to older girls and women.I thought they were great and the fact that you get three full games for the price of one, make them an excellent value.Highly recommended.

Cooking Mama 3: Shop & Chop Review

Cooking Mama 3: Shop & Chop
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm a big fan of the Cooking Mama franchise, and I think this is a good addition to anyone who liked the previous Mama games. The game is broken down into several elements, some familiar, some brand-new. The familiar elements are, of course, cooking with mama, in which you practice and make recipes. What I like about this portion of the game, which is new to Cooking Mama fans, is that once you obtain all the recipes, you unlock what I suspect are sixteen new recipes. I've only recently unlocked the hidden recipes, but the game description says that there are 80 recipes and with only 64 of them, I think that's how many are left. You also have cooking for your friends, which is a tried and true test of your cooking skills. What IS different about this segment of the game is the recipes each of your friends has. In Cooking Mama 2, each of your friends had a set of recipes, but in this game, you can access your entire recipe list from each friend. However, you seem to only be able to unlock new friends if you cook for ALL of your friends. (You can't just make food for just one of your friends. You can't seem to get new friends this way.) And then there's the Diary section and the always fun designing your kitchen and dressing up Mama.

What is NEW about this game is the ability to shop for Mama. The Shop portion offers you five "levels," during which you need to buy the items on Mama's list. Each level is progressively harder than the last, and by the end, you're just running for your life, trying to get everything Mama needs before time runs out. As you manipulate the mini Mama (those who have Cooking Mama for the Wii will know who I'm talking about) through the grocery store, watch out! You can bump into other customers and set off mini games! (The games are fun but they suck the time out of the clock.) The other section I like is the one during which you can mix and match recipes to create new dishes. I like the format they came up with for this game. The choices are limited, which means that there are a controlled number of dishes you can come up with. I don't know how it was for other gamers, but I think too many choices are not that great since you can make too many combos (I often lost track of what I combined with what).

Majesco has made some of the more familiar tasks, such as dicing, mixing, and frying, different, so that it's providing the gamer a bit more of a challenge the previous Mama games. The new additions of the Shop and the Mix have extended the game play nicely. It had always been a complaint of mine that I finished Cooking Mama too quickly, but I feel as if I'm getting a little more bang for my buck. And the chance to send the fruits and vegetables I've grown in Gardening Mama to my Cooking Mama 3 kitchen is a great way to incorporate both games.

My only complaint about this game is that the items you get from achieving bonuses (you know the ones--for when you finish a task before a certain time limit) is not very clear. It just tells you that you got a new item, but you're not sure if it's an item you use in the Diary or if it's something Mama can wear. Other than that, I'm glad to see that Majesco has challenged once again with good, wholesome game-playing. Yay Mama!

The Sims 2 H&M Fashion Stuff Review

The Sims 2 H&M Fashion Stuff
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Overall I would have to say that this is one of the better stuff packs content wise.H&M Fashion will add a significant number of new outfits to your sim's wardrobe, gives you three new premade community lots (h&m stores) and a handful of new objects. In my opinion the outfits alone are worth the pricetag. The latest expansion packs have been sadly lacking in this area (though seasons did add the whole "outdoor" thing) and it was nice seeing some new options.Though the men's clothing looks much better than the women's. There's also three new swimsuits for the guys. One thing that I thought to be kind of wierd was that the new swimsuit "outfits" are designed with flops on the feet. While this looks cool when they're just standing around the tiki bar, it is kind of odd seeing them jump into the pool or hot tub with sandals on.The rest of the stuff pack complements Open for Business nicely if you own it.It will give you some new objects to spice up the look of any clothing store you might own (such as mannequins, clothing racks and shelves, counters, etc...) plus a more modern looking cash register that could be used in any retail situation. It also gives you the building tools to create a "runway" as it were. While this sounds nice and it looks "hip", it's kind of pointless. There's no "walk down the runway" or "start a fashion show" interaction. So you could just tell your sim to walk back and forth...?Anyways, to sum up, this stuff pack is not a bad investment if you find the clothing options to be getting a little stale. And, unlike Celebration, which only applied specific events, 90% of the content in h&m could be applied to mainstream use.

Style Savvy Review

Style Savvy
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you like clothes or fashion to pretty much any extent, I bet you will enjoy Style Savvy. See, my fashion experience doesn't go much past some America's Next Top Model and Project Runway, but I started playing this game and I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN! Well, long enough to write this review, but I was really surprised how much I, a 22-year-old guy, was enjoying running my boutique!

Style Savvy has a somewhat drawn-out tutorial mode which involves you working as an assistant in another boutique, but it does a great job of familiarizing you with the mechanics of the game. Afterward, you get to name your boutique, pick out an interior design (which determines which of the 16-something lines/styles of clothing you start with) and music, and then you're off and running!

There's a lot of things this game does well. Managing your boutique's inventory is a significant portion of the game, and it's pretty involved! You have a limited amount of money (There is a "bailout" option though in case you run out of both money AND inventory, so that the game is -never- unbeatable. Nothing frustrates me more than a game where I get into a hole so deep that it's impossible to progress, no matter how hard I try!) and a limited amount of space in your stockroom, so you have to plan out what you're going to want available for sale. The appearance of your boutique also influences what people will be looking for when they enter. However, much like a real store, you will still get people that want something you're not carrying, or are just browsing. You buy clothing at wholesale prices, and they're automatically marked up when you sell them in your boutique. After you've played enough, you gain the ability to run sales at 10%, 30%, and 50%, so that you can try to liquidate items that are cluttering up your stockroom, but not take the 100% loss of just discarding them. (You can't only have -some- pieces of sale, this was an error on my part. Either everything's on sale, on nothing is.) (Maybe the discard option should've been "donate", I'm sure somebody could use those clothes!)

When patrons (all female) enter your boutique, they might just be browsing, or looking for something particular, or not sure what they're looking for but needing it to match something they've brought in, or they might be in need of a whole not outfit! There's a TON of different people that you'll encounter, and each one has her own likes and dislikes. You get a little profile of each patron, with an approximate budget, a blurb about their personality, a view of what they're currently wearing, and any information they provide about what they're looking for. Sometimes if you can't find exactly what they asked for, you can offer them something that complements their current style/outfit. With every choice, you can either ask them what they think, or just make them try it on.

You can also design display outfits for your store mannequins, which tends to draw in customers. Sometimes, somebody will come in and want to buy your whole display outfit! (These are my favorite moments, it's really satisfying when they like something I put together just because I liked it.) And, of course, anything you've stocked in your store also appears in your character's wardrobe, so that you can always play around with your own fashions!

There are also fashion contests, where you are given a concept and a particular set of clothes, and you try to match the concept as closely as possible while competing against three other computer/AI-controlled boutique owners. These are great fun because they're just like big puzzles, since everybody's working with the same set of clothes.

You can also have fashion contests with up to three other people. One of you runs the competition, picking a theme and so forth, the other three submit outfits anonymously, and then you pick the outfit you like the most! These can be as challenging as you want to make them, as you can always verbally tell your participants more hints/criteria/restrictions than what the game might present.

Downsides? Well, the music in Style Savvy is... not one of its strong points. But it's easy enough to turn down the volume on your DS/DSi and just listen to some music you like instead!
Also, the menus can be a little slow/clunky because there's a little too much glitz in the display and I can be rather impatient when I know what I'm looking for and I just want to be able to get to it as quickly as possible. But maybe if you're more patient than I am, this isn't really a bad thing.
This game is played in "book mode", where you hold your DS/DSi sideways, with the +directional pad at the bottom. This feels a little strange and my hand isn't used to it so after a few hours of playing it gets a little cramped, but it really does make the most out of the available screen real-estate, and one should always be encouraged to take a break from ANY game after an hour or so.

There are several different skin tones for characters in Style Savvy, from a dark brown to a light peach, and even a "silvery-grey" for the mannequins. There are also a variety of eye colors and hair colors and styles. I -wish- Style Savvy had women of different sizes, but in the game's defense the sheer number of different clothing options and interactions between different pieces is extremely intricate as-is and it was undoubtedly easier to just have everyone be the same size/shape. Besides, if there were a variety of sizes, then I feel like that'd need to be accounted for in inventory, and that'd make the game too complex and not as much fun. It -is- just a game, after all!

I had to write a review of this game because it just knocked my socks off. I can see this game appealing to girls/women of all ages, and probably to some of the more secure guys out there, too! I give it a 5 for fun, and a 4 for overall design/quality.

Lifetime Fashion Solitaire Review

Lifetime Fashion Solitaire
Average Reviews:

This is an absolute top notch game.We played the free version online for a while, but then my daughter (age 5) started begging for the full version. I gave in and I cannot say enough about how great it is.My daughter and I love it equally. It is set up like a card game (solitaire), but instead of a traditional set of cards, each card has an item of clothing or hairstyle on it. The cards are dealt face down and you place them on the models as they come up.Models have symbols or colors over their heads showing what they want to wear. It is a challenge, like in traditional solitaire, to get the right cards on the right models. The added fun is to meet the goals of the models and still dress them how you like. There are ways to move the cards around to get the outfit how you like it.

The bonus of the full version is that you get to DESIGN your OWN clothes and add them to the decks of cards.I could design clothes all day!You can choose different combinations of colors, prints, fabrics, and shapes to make all kinds of looks. My 5 year old girl LOVES this game and so do I.It is not difficult for her, but still interesting for me.It is both logical and creative at the same time. This would make a great gift for girls of any age.It would be nice if they had a version for boys, because my 7 year old son played once when we first got the game because he likes cards and logic, but it was just too girly for him.
