My 4 year old daughter likes to sneak and play her big sister's Nintendo DS when she's at school. This is the ONLY game (we have around 20) that she can play without help. There's no reading required, and there are lots of activities (she loves the coloring) for preschoolers.Even my older daughter pulls this out to play every once in awhile. It's not a game with a storyline or goal, just a bunch of activities for younger kids.

Final Fantasy VIII Review

Final Fantasy VIII

As a girl obsessed with the likes of Zelda: The Ocarina Of Time, I was completely unfamiliar with turn based RPGs.When I recieved Final Fantasy 7 and 8 for Christmas, I naturally tried 7 first.I was horrified when I saw that you were unable to run around in a free roaming enviornment hacking and slashing at your leisure.Waiting my turn to deliver one blow was not my idea of a good time.Disgusted, I removed the game and inserted FF8.I was floored by the opening cinema. When the game started, I was confused by all the new terms.SeeD?Balamb Gatrden?Junction system? What the hell? But something compelled me to push onward.I was instantly hooked on the characters, which to me are much more appealing than the lego characters of the previous Final Fantasy games.
You play as the quiet lone wolf, 17 year old Squall Leonheart, a member of a group of mercenaries for hire known as SeeD.SeeDs reside in academys known as Gardens. When an evil sorceress gains the trust of President Deling and the people of Galbadia, Squall along with fellow SeeDs the perky Selphie Tilmitt, the loudmouthed Zell Dincht, the ladies' man Irvine, and the recently fired 18 year old instructer Quistis Trepe set out to assasinate her.Along the way, the lively and beautiful Rinoa Heartilly, a member of a resistance faction known as The Forest Owls teams up with them.Along the way, she struggles to bring down Squall's icy exterior and help him voice his feelings. The plot soon throws many curveballs, eventually bringing forth issues such as romance, possesion, time compression, prison abuse and escape, and traveling into the future.
I will admit that this game is extremely ambitious and has its flaws. The very different reviews serve to prove one thing: it depends wholly on the person whether or not you'll enjoy this game. Some people enjoy the game enough to get by its flaws and appreciate its differences, while others simply don't have the time or patience for it.It depends on your personality. Before buying, you must understand that:
-This is a love story
-The junction system (attatching magic to stats such as strength and HP to raise or lower the stat depending on magic type and quantity) takes a long time to understand and get fully confortable with.No other FF has had a system like this, and you may not like it
-You need to play through FOUR discs and have the time to put in upwards of 70 hours in order to get through everything the game has to offer.Patience is important.
While I am an impatient person who gets put to sleep by other RPGs, I enjoyed Final Fantasy 8 a lot.The characters meant something to me because they were realistic looking and typical teens rather than lego people with absent mouths. This is the black sheep of the series, and not everyone will appreciate it.In my case, it will always remain a favorite. For its time, no game was more gorgeous looking and emotional, and no final battle was as long and intense. The stunning ending clocks in at around a half hour. But some people aren't bothered by the long frequent GF summons, and some are extremely bothered by them.I can understand it.As I said, it all depends what kind of person you are.

Imagine Fashion Party Review

Imagine Fashion Party
Average Reviews:

all in all, this game is worth a buy.i was intrigued when i first heard about this title.the imagine software seems to be doing great on the DS platform, with only a small release of their games for Wii.so i wanted to know what all the hype was about.at first it was hard to understand how to work the controls.but luckily, the beginning stages act a tutorial to help you learn the controls.after a short while, they became intuitive and i was breezing through the game.you can play freestyle or you can enter a project runway competition of sorts.freestyle lets you take your time and dress up the models any way you like, do their makeup and hair, and see your final creation as they strut on the runway.competition mode is you competing against other wanna-be designers and each round the lowest scoring person is eliminated.the tasks within each round are timed and incorporate a fashion theme, so you pretty much have to style the model as you're instructed.while this can sound boring, they made it interesting by giving you a few choices within the design guidelines and a time limit, so no time to overthink anything.this goes for clothes as well as hair and makeup.sometimes you'll be pleased with the overall look you've created, and sometimes you'll feel bad you made the model look so bad...i know i did.after you've gone to the trouble of doing up your model, you now have to walk her on the runway.you can do this with either the wiimote and nunchucks, or the wii balance board.i can tell you that both were taxing.this part of the game is probably my least fave.it all seemed like an afterthought.no matter how hard and fast you fling the remotes or how well you copied the moves on the balance board, somehow the moves wouldn't always register correctly, therefore causing your model to misstep on the runway.how dreadful.i guess i can live with that, but honestly i get frustrated with this part of the game.i would say the wiimote and nunchucks read better than the balance board, but you can come to your own conclusions about that if you have both options available.if not, you're not missing anything, so please don't go out in search of a balance board for this purpose alone.as you successfully complete more competitions, you unlock more styles to try on your model in free play.this is a great game for anyone interested in fashion.i would suggest this game for kids who are old enough to read.only because in parts of the game the dialogue is read aloud and other parts you have to read the dialogue yourself.that also made no sense to me.either voice all of the characters or none at all.

Product Description:
Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to be up there, competing in the world of high fashion on shows like Project Runway, or Top Designer? Now you can join in the fun with Imagine Fashion Party, the newest game in the Imagine line-up for Nintendo Wii from developer UbiSoft. Star in your very own TV show as you compete through a series of challenges to show that you are the best up-and-coming young fashion designer the world has ever seen.

See what the judges think of your clothing at the catwalk. View larger.

Choose between different colors and styles. View larger. Loads of Fun Combinations
In Imagine Fashion Party you are in control of the action, using the Wii remote and nunchuck as your scissors, hair brushes, makeup applicator and other tools. From top to bottom you design the looks you want, putting them on the girls you think will suit them best. Not only do you pick out what all your models wear, but you get to determine their hair and makeup as well.
Take a Walk on the Wild Side
Once you have created your fashion line, send your models out on the runway to see what the judges think. But don't let them just stand there, because you need to make the right moves with your remote if you want your models to impress the judges with their moves. Imagine Fashion Party is even compatible with the Wii Balance Board accessory for added modeling fun.
The fun continues when you work on developing your skills, or challenge a friend in some of the all-new fashion design mini-games. In one example, such as Office mode, you play the role of a hip young designer running your own boutique agency with loads of demanding clients. When you come up with something you are especially proud of, you can roll out the whole collection in a photo shoot or catwalk show, and share your work with all your friends via Nintendo wi-fi.

Use your Wii remote to cut patterns and sew your garment.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Review

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow

Let me start by saying that I am only about 2 and a half hours into the game which is far from beating it. However, I feel compelled to write something as this game just was released today. I want to let others know what they can expect in case they are on the fence about buying the game.

I have uploaded a video of the packaging and it's contents (Limited Edition). I have to say that over all the presentation is a lot nicer than I was expecting. The one thing I sort of didn't like was that the art book is attached into the packaging. It made it harder to flip through and enjoy.

Getting into the game I was curious as what to expect. I read a lot of pre-release reviews comparing this game to God of Way. But was hoping for more than just another hack and slash and so far this game has delivered BIG. I have played through all 3 god of war games and can say I never honestly used the block button one time. In this game I found myself using it quite a bit. Also i think this game takes a bit more defensive strategy than just going toe-to-toe and mashing one button over and over.

There are so many incredible things about this game that stand out. I will be careful to not give anything away as I want you to enjoy all the wonderful surprises just like I have. But, the way the game intertwines cut scenes right in the middle of battle adds a whole new level of depth to the game-play. It was like battle with a real quick cut to cut-scene, than battle ,cut-scene,battle,battle,cut-scene, battle all with what seemed like no load time. Added a very high level of energy to the battles without taking the gamer out of the experience. It should be said that you have no control over the camera at any time. But, I think they did a great job with always keeping the camera at an angle that seems so natural that not once did I find myself frustrated by not having control. The levels are set up where you are encouraged to explore and in just the first few levels their are multiple paths you can go down. In the first 5 levels I not completed more than %60 of any one level and I pride myself on being an explorer. This will add to the value of the game for me as now I want to go back and replay the levels to find everything missed. Also, there are items you can see but can't reach until you have upgraded later in the game and have to come back.

Some other subtle things I thought were worth mentioning was the 3rd person perspective. the weather elements interact with the screen so you feel like you are with the character. The rain in particular is cool as the drops run down the screen after hitting. Also , when your character is stopped the screen has a swaying, bobbling effect like you are carrying a camera on your shoulder following the character. So, far every single environment I have been in has added a deep layer of atmospheric effect, whether it is rain, mist, or windy snow. It always keeps you from seeing everything 100% crystal clear but really adds another cool layer of realism. speaking of realism I thought it was worth noting that when you interact with a tree the branches move as well as when you are walking through tall grass...Don't think your efforts went unnoticed Konami! I have to say I am an artist who has drawn in one form or another my whole life. I really appreciate art and the effort that goes into creating it. I cannot count how many times in the first 2 hours I said WOW! out loud. The scenery is so well done I found myself almost enjoying the times between battles more than the battles themselves just so I could soak in the environments and scenery they created. Truly beautiful work on the environments!

The voice acting is top notch! I should mention for any adults reading this that may want to buy the game for a young child. That there was one moment in the first 2 hours of play with a full frontal nude fairy (nips and all). That may be the only moment in the game I am not sure as I said before i am only about 1/12 of the way into the game. But I imagine if it's there once it will probably be there again...(ehhhhmmm ehhhmmm Dante's Inferno.)

They also have added an RPG element. You gain experiece as you battle enemies and can use that experiece to unlock new moves or special extras like artwork in a gallery. The music is amazing! The milted edition comes with the soundtrack as you can see. I can actually see myself listening to it and enjoying it.

Hope this helped answer some questions about the game. Thanks for taking time to read my review.

This is a great game overall. Its graphics are good as is the sound. Its realistic and has a lot of features. It doesn't come with a booklet to explain directions and stuff like that but there are tutorials for the controls and how to play the game. People say its a lot like Hunting Unlimited 2008 but I'm not sure because this is my first Hunting Unlimited game. But I would recomend this game to people who like great realistic hunting games.

Thrustmaster T Flight Hotas X Review

Thrustmaster T Flight Hotas X

With Tom Clancy's HAWX on the way to the PS3 later this season, and my sudden urge to revisit Freespace 2, X-Wing, the Wing Commander games on my PC, I decided to give this joystick a shot since it was cheaper than PS3 version of the Saitek Aviator, and it's also a hands-on-the-throttle model. I am sure glad I did! This stick is awsome, I am very glad that I gave it a chance even though reviews were scarce.

It has just about every button you could possibly want in a joystick, they all fell right when pressed, it's programmable, has a throttle with an alalog rocker for even more control options, and it all feels very intuitive when held. I tested it in the Windows game controller utility and everything seems to move quite precisely. Afterwards, I played Freespace 2 and the demo for the Battlestar Galactica: Beyond the Red Line mod, and it was a total blast. I was able to map the controls perfectly to all the buttons on the stick, and I was flying like an ace in no time.

They really thought of just about everything for this stick. The throttle module is actually detachable via an included Allan wrench, so if you prefer "cockpit accurate" distance between the stick and throttle, it's there for you. There's even a knob on the bottom of the stick that lets you adjust how much resistance the spring gives you! Pretty much the only thing you don't get is force feedback, but that's hardly shocking since this is an under $50 stick. It's even lap friendly, which is dandy if you don't have a coffee table or your desk is too crowded.

Overall, this is a very good stick, and is great for PS3 users or people looking for an entry level stick for their PC. For under $50, you'd be hard pressed to find a Hotas model as good as this one, and I'd much rather use this for my PS3 than a Saitek Aviator due to it's more solid build quality and hands-on throttle. Unless you'd rather drop $100 on a fancier model, Thrustmaster's console-friendly offering will serve you very well.
