Unreal Tournament 2004 Review

Unreal Tournament 2004
Average Reviews:

Unreal has always been my favorite of all the 1st person frag fests. This game has everything that was good about about the previous games like the pumped up announcer and varied weapons each with 2 different modes. And it adds on even more incredible features like vehical combat, adrenaline combos, an a really fun basketball type game.It plays great with all features turned on with a Radeon 9800 - the best card available on Macs.
Also, unlike the PC version which is like 6 CD-ROM's, this is a single DVD.It makes for a very convenient install and storage.

The Sims Expansion: Hot Date (Mac) Review

The Sims Expansion: Hot Date
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First, I think my rating is more like 3.5 stars, not 4. But figured to round up anyway.
I loved the Sims original game, loved the At Large expansion pack and was thrilled when I first heard about Hot Date. But after purchasing and playing with it for several weeks, I'm starting to have my doubts with this particular expansion pack. Obviously the best part is for the Sims to go Downtown. That is pretty much tbe bang-of-the-buck for this game and yes, brings a whole new level of play into the Sims.
The benefits of Downtown:
1.) You can create your own shopping boutique, ice cream/pizza/fun parlor, restaurant, park, dance or disco, that type of thing. If you love building things and putting together the furniture, painting the walls, etc. like me, you'll be VERY happy with this and can build all day if you'd like.
2.) The downtown already created by Aspyr is pretty nice, they are very thorough and detailed down to the public restroom so there's a lot to see, do and socialize among other Sims. It's visually appealing.
3.) Freely interacting with so many other Sim-citizens, and a number of them aren't even in your neighborhood (so spare you the time to manually invite them to a party at your home). Which is great if you need to gain friends to advance your career.
4.) You have new furniture (eg: love hot tub), building options and characters to choose from with the addition of Hot Date. You also have more commands between Sims now because the goal is to find a potential mate (new kissing, cuddling, fighting, conversation options).
BUT... here I think are the drawbacks from the game.
1.) I have a G4 with lots of RAM so it's pretty good in loading programs. However, Sims Hot Date stalls and chugs like crazy when you are going downtown, especially if you have a lot of Sims. It's very distracting and prevents you from really having a good time playing or having that "Sims experience."
2.) You cannot build anything else other than dating-intended businesses or places for your Sims. Maybe this is a lame statement from me since the point of the game IS to find romance and land a mate, but the quest of dating gets boring rather quickly... (like you can only buy lingerie, teddy bears or flowers...ugh) There is a number of objects you can't put in your downtown business for some reason as well.
3.) Your Sims become a LOT more testy and harder to "match up" after installing Hot Date. This is no joke. It's like 2 or 3 times harder to have the Sims love each other, even more for them to marry. Pretty discouraging if that's what this pack is supposed to be about.
4.) Your Sims can't, repeat CAN'T stay overnight in downtown. No hotels are available. So yes, they will eventually get burned out, lose energy/comfort points. And I notice even if you have a couple of Sims go together to Downtown, you can only control one of them when you get there. (unless I'm an isolated case?)
Anyway, hope that this review was honest enough for you. I still enjoy it for the additions it brings in the buildings and furniture, but otherwise I think it may be better to get the other expansion packs instead (Livin' Large or Unleashed). And either way, make sure you have tons of memory.

Whether it's a wedding reception or a strip club, you can make all the shots. Designers have made many new objects and skins to give your party a little more color. The Sims Castaway Review

The Sims Castaway
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First off, I am a huge fan of the Sims 2 Games, and own almost all the expansion packs.

When I first played the game, I didn't stop until I finished the Castaway Story completely through. I couldn't get enough. I then created my own characters to play the game through, hoping (maybe) that something may be different or that I would be faced with a different challenge... Although this game is incredibly fun and creative, I do with there were more story variations, or different characters to chose from who would then bring their own stories to the game.

Overall, a fun game, but I don't know how long it was meant to last...

The Sims 2 Glamour Life Stuff Review

The Sims 2 Glamour Life Stuff
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
To keep this short and sweet, expansion packs always give you a love/hate relationship. This one isn't really a hate, but it won't have you jumping for joy either. Unlike other packs like Sims pets or Open for Business, or even Nightlife that give you things that you can ONLY get with the packs like animals, cars and the ability to own your own business, this only really provides you some high end furniture that you can find elsewhere. Actually, I've definitely seen better clothes elsewhere.

Mac packs are always more expensive and this one is too pricey for just some jazzy beds and stereos. If you can get it for less than, say $15 it may be worth it. The only problem is that sometimes on CC sites you need to have all or most of the packs, and mac users get left out because not all packs are for mac. Hello, where is Teen Sim Stuff? I've been waiting for that for mac forever!

Try"[...], holy simoly, Around the sims 2, and Parsimonious" to name a few of the good quality sites. Sometimes you come across something that doesnt' work in your game, that's okay, just trial and error, but you should be able to get some decent decorating from these sites.

I dont' want to say the packs are never worth it, I own Sims Nightlife, Sims Pets and University and I love all of them, but with them all I can't say I got an abundance of other useful items like clothes and furniture. Even pets didn't give me a wild amount of pet accessories--but I love having pets.Just think about what you really want and how you want to play the game. I like to have 'family style' games, with children and pets, for example and like content for children, babies and teens. This is not for everyone. Just keep that in mind when you buy.

The Sims Complete Collection Review

The Sims Complete Collection
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In case mac owners don't know, if you own Mac OS X and are running Tiger or higher you will have a problem in the "Create a Sim" screen. What will happen is that when you switch through outfits, the last outfit won't leave the screen and all them will overlap over each other making it hard to see them, the same will happen when the sims change clothes in the game and when you want to buy a pet at the pet stores.

It is not the worse thing in the world and will not crash your game, but is very annoying and should be known before anyone spends their money. I'm using Panther. Anything before Tiger is fine. JUST BE WARNED!After buying just a few of the expansion packs, I FINALLY decided to get the Complete Collection only after buying an external hard drive. I don't know about anyone else, but there was no way almost 4 gigs would fit on my G4 imac. Although, even on the harddrive the game does slow, but is still playable. I am often surprised that I can stay Downtown, Studio Town, etc. so long. That is a real treat.

Bad side? There is too much to do. I have yet to do anything in Magic town nor Vacation, and the idea of being able to renovate all this and add my own touch is overwhelming. You can literally start over any sim town from the ground up and make it to your liking. Very consuming to say the least, downloads notwithstanding which not only enchance your game (and may clog it up) makes it more realistic when you're not using the same pieces of furniture in each house.

The only gripe I may have is relationships. With the Complete Collection, I'm not sure, but I think the the Hot Date relationship 'meter' takes over and relationships are much harder to form and take much longer. I had a couple who constantly had red hearts but whenever I had one propose the other would get totally turned off and her attraction would bump down several points, I never understood i--even when they were 'in the mood' as I was instructed. All needs were maxed and they were happy and still didn't want to get together. Go figure. If you really want to form families, relationships and Star Careers you will have to work for it. But the good thing about the Sims is you don't really have too.

You can play any way you want. If you're just into design you can create as many houses as you want and move on. and if you have people living in your houses and don't care for them hooking up, then they'll just be roomies. No problem.

I had plenty of problems previously with my other expansions, and crashing was one of them. I don't know why, but objects that I had before, then put them back in my game a second or third time (after needing to reinstall) made the game crash. Frequently, the sofas and paintings just would not pull into the game and when they did it crashed when I tried to save. Now, everything pulls into the game and saves with no problem.

I think that having all the expansion packs made the game more stable--for me and possibly for macs in general, I don't know, but I know that all the packs seemed to help with the crashing.

Overall, there is little cons to owning this. One thing I will say is that Non-Unleashed fans will tire quickly of stray pets wondering around the lots and into the house.

Still, worth the money to have all 7 packs on one disc, just make sure you have the hard drive space-- and spare for downloads-- and you'll be fine.
