(More customer reviews)As I always say, I am not an avid "gamer," but I have been playing CoH/CoV for years, on and off."Going Rogue" is, as one reviewer already pointed out, a "super expansion" that allows the player to be more or less morally ambivalent up to level twenty when you must choose your character's "good" or "evil" destiny.This means more story arcs, new foes, and a refreshing update far more pleasureable to the casual player than the "Architect" edition, although that is not a negative comment on "Architect."I did run into some problems though, and I am going to discuss those and their basic "fixes."
1)This game has gotten huge.This means that before you purchase it, you MUST make sure your PC meets minimum requirements, although I would recommend much more if you want the game to run smoothly.I am not sure "minimum requirements" listed on the box will cut it anymore.
2)If you install and encounter terrible "lagging," the simple solution is to play in "safe mode."This will reduce graphics to their minimum, but the game is so well designed, I cannot see any meaningful difference between "safe" and "normal" mode, with perhaps the exception of a shade more sharpness and brightness.To get to "safe mode" is easy.When the game starts, log in.After the updater screen finishes, you "accept" and this takes you to the next small box scren before you actually begin playing.At the bottom right, there is a little white box marked "safe mode."Click it, and you should have no problems.If you do, the log in screen has a button that will take you to the NCSoft community website.It is full of helpful posts written by polite and patient folks and has a great and simple search function.
3)For a new player, let me also say this.NCSoft has superior customer service, and their rates to play have not risen significantly at all over the years.I have never been less than 100 percent happy with the courtesy, competence, and patience of their staff.
So, if you are looking for a MMORPG, I cannot recommend this line highly enough.And if it gets old, leave it on your computer and come back to it in a few weeks or a couple of months.It always seems to be fresh again.
