Complaining about ordering versus just paying the monthly fee is missing the point of part of the purpose of these cards. We have a friend who, because of financial constraints, can't currently afford to foot the bill for City of Heroes, which he used to play. A few of us who do play are looking to purchase at least 6 months of game time for him for the holidays, and this is a great way to help him participate in a hobby he loves.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Review

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Just like its most recent predecessors, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: World at War, the campaign portion of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a really fun game with extremely intense battle sequences. The downfall is that it's very very short. So let me start by saying that if you're not set up to, or you just don't intend to, play the online co-op or multiplayer modes, you really want to think twice before paying full price for this game. Single players either need to rent this or wait for an inexpensive used copy to go on sale.

So you get three game options: Special Ops (online isn't necessary, but at least two players are required for some of the missions), Multiplayer (designed to be played online; this is no fun split-screen with a max of 4 players), and the single player Campaign that took me less than 6 hours to finish.

In single player Campaign mode, you're a first person shooter (soldier) on the frontlines, and this time the frontlines aren't limited to overseas territories. Primarily you're playing separate, interlacing missions all over the world as two different characters. The story takes place several years after CoD 4 ended. And just as in CoD 4 you're with a team of characters that are truly your band of Artificial Intelligence brothers. On easier settings the AI soldiers can do practically all of the work for you on some missions; the help you might get from your team is based on the difficulty setting you've chosen. So unless you want to just glide through the game, definitely don't pick the Recruit difficulty (the other difficulty options are Regular, Hardened and Vet).

I could take away a star from the overall score of this game for how short the single player mode is, but I won't....All of a sudden it's not so short when you go back and try to play on the Vet setting and spend the time looking for all of the Intel items.

You arrive in single player boot camp just like in all of the previous CoDs, and you get a brief tutorial on how to maneuver around, shoot your weapons & throw grenades. After boot camp you get to choose the difficulty setting, then you're immediately strewn into various battles. (Once you've completed the game on any setting you can go back to various chapters to clean up any items or trophies missed, and at the start of each chapter you can choose to attempt on the higher difficulties.)

You fight your way through some intense chapters....really intense. In fact, when you first start off, there's even a warning that you'll be in for some VERY disturbing sequences, and you have the option to tell the game to skip "offensive material". Ummm...no thanks. I think that this is the first game that I've played that offers the option to censor itself if you choose the option. The story is a bit choppy at times, but the battles are wild. The graphics are out of this world, and some of the "familiar territory" scenes will just blow you away with how much it really looks like your own back yard.

The weapons are plentiful and sophisticated. You're shooting whichever modern-day weapon you happen to have picked up along your objective route. Objectives that guide you along are updated regularly as you complete each task throughout each chapter. And some of those tasks are brutal. There are frequent checkpoints (I think I remember even reaching new checkpoints without firing a single shot) in the campaign, so no need to worry about respawning back before what seemed to take an eternity to complete. On the other hand....

....There is the Special Ops portion of the game. I think that there are 23 different missions for you here, and you can play each one by trying to earn 1, 2 or 3 stars in each mission. Some of these are darn hard, especially the final 3-star unlocks. You will be frustrated by playing some of these a few times before you beat the levels to earn your stars. And there are no checkpoints in these missions, so if you fail in the final moments of a mission, you start over from the beginning of that mission.

Special Ops is most fun with a partner. It's best online so that you get to play full screen, but if you have a guest over you can play split screen offline. For all you World at War players looking for Zombies, you're out of luck here. You get Special Ops instead. There was a silly rumor that MW2 would have an "Alien Invaders" mode that would rival the Zombie mode of WaW, but that indeed was just a silly rumor.

Online Multiplayer is where you'll get addicted. No AI brothers here...just your fellow gamers. You'd better have your FPS skills honed if you think that you'll score better than some of the MW2 online players. A very high percentage of the online players have been honing their skills online for years now with CoD4 and World at War.

The concept with Multiplayer is certainly not new. The more you play, the higher you rank allowing you to unlock more (fine tuned) weapons. The game sets you up in matches with people at your level and rank, but that ain't gonna help you if you're new (you will be fondly referred to as a noob by your swell fellow online players) and you're up against the CoD4 or WaW vets.

What makes MW2 Multiplayer more than just a new map pack for CoD4 is that the Multiplayer weapons and perk system are vastly improved. And so is connectivity (so it seems in the initial week of play after a few day one and two glitches). You get 10 times the amount of points for the kills and captures that you're used to getting only 5 or 10 points for in CoD4 and WaW. You also now get points for not just killing and capturing, but for taking out enemy air support, coming back from deathstreaks, killing your nemesis, breaking an enemy's streak and other stuff.Yeah, Multiplayer is good fun, habitual and bad for a marriage.

So all in all Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is major fun. The only drawbacks to this awesome game are that the campaign is really short and the multiplayer action is a bit familiar. But the MW2 Multiplayer improvements over its predecessors far out weigh the familiarity.

Modern Warfare 2 is a must for FPS fans. Add it to your cart, soldier!

Product Description:
Modern Warfare 2 is a first-person tactical shooter and the sixth entry in the popular Call of Duty series. True to its name and following the lead of its predecessor, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, it places players in modern combat settings, as opposed to the WWII environments of the earlier Call of Duty games. This modern approach brings with it new weapons, action and options. Coupled with a variety of gameplay modes including single player, multiplayer and the co-op Special Ops Mode, it is destined to be one of the most popular games of 2009 and a worthy addition to the Call of Duty series.

Having used this for a week, already my brain feels bigger, and when I flex it in front of the ladies, well, let's just say size does matter . . .

OK, so that wasn't true. But this is: I find the puzzles challenging, engaging, and interesting.I like the fact you can track progress, and the fact there are multiple levels, so you can move up if you need more of a challenge.Between the accuracy and time scores, the game keeps challenging you.

While this isn't the best game I have ever played, it's certainly entertaining. My kids like it, too.

If it happens to stretch my brain a bit, well then, that's just a bonus.

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe Review

It seems the more you read people talking about this game they either love it or hate it.I fall in the middle.I am just a casual gamer I play every now and then at night or on weekends, but I don't spend every waking moment with a controller in my hands. So take that into consideration as I make this review.

Overall I think this a fun game.I have been playing Mortal Kombat games for a long time now and I find this one just as enjoyable.I think the mix of character is nice with some of your most popular MK characters with some of the most recognizable DC comics heroes and villains.

The gameplay has been tweaked a bit since the previous MK game, but it is nothing that you can't adjust to, and overall I think it offers more character control. The special moves or super moves as called in the game are a fun mix too with most of your favorite moves form you MK characters kept in with a mix of a few new ones to keep things interesting.

We do have a return of the preprogrammed fatalities, but they have been toned down.No more dismemberment, decapitation, or removal of vital organs. This may be a big deal for you, but I don't require a high level of gore to enjoy a video game.

As far as I can tell there are no hidden characters in the game, other then the unlockable boss characters. So don't expect to find Reptile or the Martian Manhunter. But like most Xbox 360 games the game will support downloadable content in the future. But when new fighters show up is up to the video game publisher.

If you are trying to chose between the kollectors edition and the basica game save your money. The comic book that comes with the game is a quite small and almost just like a pamphlet and does not really add anything to the story. There is a small poster and a making of dvd.but you will probably be able to see all those videos on youtube before too long.

So a hardcore mortal kombat fan or gamer may not enjoy this game too much as it comes up short on gore and hidden characters. But the game still presents and interesting storyline and a chance to play as some of your favorite DC comics characters.I have it I enjoy playing it and hope to have fun with friends playing as superheros and undead ninjas.

The story of how the heroes and villains of Mortal Kombat and theDC universe could find themselves not only existing on the same plain, butbattling each other revolves around coincidental victories in the respectiverealms by Raiden and Superman. In Raiden's case it was a victory over ShaoKahn, while Superman bested Darkseid. These occurred at the exact same timeand involved inter-dimensional elements, which somehow merged their twoenemies into one being, Dark Kahn, while allowing the characters of thetwo universes to interact. In this merging the powers of the heroes andvillains are scrambled as well, making some stronger than they ever were, and leaving others vulnerable for the first time in their lives, allowingeach to battle on more or less equal footing. And battle they do withoutrealizing that the uncontrollable rage that they feel for each other isactually the work of Dark Khan.

Gameplay
Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe being a fighter, gameplay consistsof one-on-one battles, both in local play and online, in which playerscan choose a character from either side who will face off against a counterpartfrom the other. Each character has unique attacks and special finishingmoves, and fighting arenas vary depending on whether your character comesfrom the Mortal Kombat or DC universe. Keeping with the reputationfor brutality in the Mortal Kombat franchise, characters from thisside will have access to fatalities, while the historically less overlyviolent DC Comics characters will execute "heroic brutalities," whichare end moves where the opponent while beaten, is not killed. The gamealso features new gameplay mechanics such as: Freefall Kombat, in whichplayers can engage in extended combat while in midair; Klose Kombat, duringwhich the play angle moves to a close-up view of the action; The "TestYour Might" mini-game where you smash your opponent through walls; andRage Mode, which increases the power of a character's attack by 50% andprovides protection against being stunned by an opponent.

Playable Characters
Playable characters in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe consist of some of the most popular heroes and villains from both universes, with most being available from the beginning of the game and some unlockable throughout. They include the following:

Fishdom is my absolute favorite match 3 game because you can buy things and create aquariums.Fishdom H20 is very similar except that it is a find hidden items game instead of a match 3.You still earn money instead of points so that you can purchase Fish or Beauty or Comfort for the aquarium you are creating. Each aquarium has 3 levels and things cost more on each level so this game will provide you with lots of play.I wish there were MORE games were you buy things in the game instead of just earning points - it gives the game more of a "point" - in my opinion anyway. The only other game I've found that does this is FLOWER PARADISE and I recommend it as well (it is a match 3 and you buy things to create your garden - great graphics).

Excellent. So much to do. Not too hard for the younger crowd. But, not too simplistic for a 30 something ,like myself, who has grown up with Scooby Doo. Incredible graphics for a value game. Very fast load times. All of the original voices are here from the movie (not the series, of course). A cute plotline with many very well done cut-scenes. My five year old and myself have been playing this for a few days. We are hooked. This installed without a glitch and even had an installation feature that helped me with some Direct X problems i had been having. A truly good game that doesn't sell the player short. I own many "hidden objects" games. This is one of the best because:no timer so you can RELAX and play;objects are not so SMALL or UNUSUAL (fault of many of this type of game)that you cannot find them;no penalty for clicking and clicking around (gives you the chance to FIND something you cannot see too readily);has hints to PROGRESS so you are never stuck and cannot finish the game (have had this problem too many times in "adventure" games);the "extra" riddles are fun, VERY creative and easy to figure out if you just click around and explore, and the "conversations" are not too long (if I wanted to read I'd buy a book). This is more than just a "hidden object" game (such as the one that comes with this game - Dr. Lynch - VERY boring and the creators have items you can barely see - what's the point there?).This game is a small version of an "adventure" (I love) game and hidden objects.A really great combination. The only downside is that I am not so fond of the basis of the story, but it does not overpower the gameplay.I will purchase more games from this producer if they play like this one!

F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate Review

F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Lately, the are a number of novels sporting ROBERT LUDLUM's name up front - yet they are ghostwritten by in-stable-writers of his publisher. A good effort in their part, yet, of course, they feel nothing like a LUDLUM's novel.

SIERRA, the legal owner of the FEAR franchise, is putting out this official (stand alone) expansion - whilst, MONOLITH, the original team that actually created FEAR, has announced its own upcoming expansion named PROJECT ORIGIN.
As with ghostwritten books, the in-house elves do not feel confident to create anything new and instead take baby-steps around the original story. Thus, the PERSEUS MANDATE is actually the same story as the original FEAR - seen from the perspective of a different F.E.A.R. agent on a timeline that runs parallel to the original.

To make this idea more palatable, a new set of weapons and gadgets are available (you will love the UV scope that helps targeting in foggy rooms) and the set of enemies is refreshed with some new additions. Paxton Fettel, the original villain gets replaced by, well, Perseus (whose Mandate we are concerned with), Alma (the scary little grungy girl) only makes fleeing appearances - and Shade fits the shoes of the scariest spectral beast around.

The graphics, although somewhat improved, do not veer far from the original - which may not be a bad thing, since they were quite good, yet somewhat dated today. What has clearly improved is the sound: PERSEUS MANDATE may not be as visually scary as the original but it sure is aurally scary!

All in all, a slightly improved game with a clearly weaker story.
The cookie-cutter at work...

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands Review

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It's kind of hard for me to review this game because there are so many things I like about it, but a handful of things that make me shake my head and wonder what Ubisoft was thinking. In my opinion this is the third best Prince game out of the five that start with the Sands of Time game. The Sands of Time is still my favorite(I wish they would make a reboot of that one graphically) followed by The Warrior Within, then the last Prince of Persia on the PS3, lastly The Two Thrones. So, what to start with... the good or the bad... let's get the bad out of the way.

Graphics: Come on Ubisoft! This is 2010, not 2005! The graphics on Forgotten Sands should have been much better with the technology that is available today. Ubisoft is capable of making beautiful games. I'm not sure what happened here. It's not terrible, but it is below par for action/adventure games of this day and age. What this game needs graphically is a nice polish. It some levels it is graphically beautiful and in others it's kind dull and pitiful. It's not a huge disappoinment and it doesn't detract a whole lot from the game, but it is something that needs to be noted.

Story: It's pretty much the same kind of story that took place within The Sands of Time game. I loved the story in that game, but the problem here is it's been done before. Couldn't they come up with something a bit more original. Again, it's not a huge disappointment and it probably won't detract away from the fun you're going to have playing it, but it might was well not even have a story. I found myself not really paying much attention to it.

Gameplay: First, let me say the Prince, as in the other Prince games, moves with acrobatic grace. However, that doesn't help the combat system. The fighting moves seem sluggish and uninspired at times. The enemies you fight for the first good portion of the game(probably the first half or so) are dumber than rocks as far as a.i.(no, I don't mean Allen Iverson either LOL) is concerned. I mean seriously none of the low level enemies have any kind of finding strategy. Yes, the screen will fill up with 20-25 enemies at a time, but you never really feel like you're in any serious danger, and that's not b/c the Prince is a complete badass. I think Ubisoft could have learned something from God of War 3's combat system. All is not lost, though because the later enemies do provide a rather robust challenge. Thankfully it's not overly challenging.

On to the good stuff...

Gameplay, again: Yes, a big portion of the gameplay is awesome. The Prince's magic attacks are awesome and a whole lot of fun wiping enemies out with. The whole climbing and wall running is just as much a blast as before. It can get quite challenging, and even frustating at times, later on the game when you have to combine different powers to get through a certain level/portion of the game. Being able to freeze water and climb up it is challenging, without being overly so, and fun. Timing and stringing together your powers to further your progress is a big part of what makes Forgotten Sands so much fun.

Rewind Time: It was kind of crappy in the last Prince game when you had unlimited rewind time. I think it took away a lot of the challenge that the game offered. Not so, in this game. You can rewind, once your rewind bar is maxed out, about 5 times or so. This adds more challenge to the game without it becoming frustating. Don't mistake me that there isn't parts in this game that will frustate you. There are sections were you may have to attempt to climb something or do a combo power sequence X (i.e. 7 or 8) number of times. Fortunately the fun and challenging parts far outweigh the frustating parts.

Music: I love the music in Forgoteen Sands. Possibly the best in the series. It has a real Arabian feel to it and the mood of it fits every level perfectly. It's probably one of things, besides all the climbing and wall-running, that kept me glued to the game from beginning to end. Excellent musical score, but somewhat shoddy graphics. It makes no sense.

Length: It's rather meaty quest. I'm not sure how long it took me to go through it, but if I had to guess I'd say in the neighorhood of 12-15 hours. I got this about 3 p.m. CST yesterday(starting playing immediatly) and just finished it a few hours ago. I actually liked the ending and I hope they continue with this new direction for the Prince. I won't give anything away about the ending, but I think you'll be satisfied with it.

Oh yeah! It's a helluva lot fun, even taking into account the missteps that Ubisoft made. I'm kind of burnt out on it right now, but I definitely see myself going through it again with this Prince. The bottom line is you're going to have a fun adventure with the Prince as wall climb/run and fight through hordes of enemies to save the day. For some this may be a rental only, but if you're a diehard Prince of Persia fan(like me) or big fan of action/adventure game(me, too) then I'd say it's safe to add this to you're collection. Despite a few missteps, it's still a awesome game loaded with fun!

I give Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands 4.5 stars or a 9 out of 10 for fun factor and 4.25 stars or an 8.5 out of 10 overall. I had a blast with it I think you will, too!

I would like to begin my review by first stating that I find everyone's appalling comments for this game's new layout to be quite unjust. I thought the larger game screen to provide a more authentic experience. The new cell phone mode made calling and accessing information on the web extremely practical, as well as useful.
Secondly, the new tool mode was not nearly as hard to comprehend as many have expressed it to be. Really, if this game is marketed to anyone over the age of ten, I would have expected those over thirteen writing these reviews to have been able to grasp the simplicity of this feature.
Thirdly, I found the chores such as getting eggs, picking vegetables, and feeding the animals to be fun. I love being thrown out, though I will admit the tongue-lashing I get for my mistakes, whether purposeful or not, really leaves my spinning. In one instance, however, I even found myself being attacked by an extremely angry chicken. Who could not enjoy that?
The graphics in this game are extraordinary. I loved how real all of the rugs, petroglyphs, and so on looked. Her Interactive really is to be commended on this.
Throughout this game weaves a tale of mystery and romance. An outlaw by the name of Dirk Valentine left his treasure hidden somewhere for his love, and through following his clues he wrote for his love, I encountered much more than your average dust cloud...I encountered many dangerous things, that, if not treated right, could (and did) send me to my peril.
I would finally like to mention my favorite character in this series: Bob the horse. Bob and I went through a lot together, and I'm going to miss that horse. Live long and healthy, Bob!

John Deere North American Farmer Review

John Deere North American Farmer
Average Reviews:

Well I was pretty excited to see that John Deere did a sequel to the American Farmer. The original lacked good graphics and got pretty boring after awhile.I was hoping that North American Farmer would be better, sadly I was disappointed.

When I uploaded it I noticed the graphics were a bit better but lacked a true attention to detail. The animals were always hard to see unless you were zoomed way in, the tractor wheels are not round and don't roll (the new equipment wheels do roll)and thier movement was always unnatural. Also, the characters just appeared to be a bunch of un educated hicks. This all remains the same in the sequel.Sure they added a few hard to see animals and you have a few more options on buldings but over all it's more of the same.

I don't want you to get the wrong idea about this, I do like the game but it does have a few issues. The hay, although a neat option is very time consuming and requires alot of attention, it would be nice to be able to automate this since you have to switch impliments constantly, and it looks more like corn growing than hay.The cool part is that somehow it ends up storing hay even though you sell it and makes for a nice bonus, I am sure this is a glitch. You still cannot move the fence (or pastures) past trees which I always found odd and there is no way to get rid of the trees or plant new ones. The game speed went from 1x, 2x, 3x to 1x, 3x, and 5x.I always played the original on 2x, but 3x now is way too fast, I don't know how anyone could keep up and 1x is just too slow. When raking hay, the raking starts in front of the tractor! When baling and you make a turn 1/4 of the next row disappears! I did have one funny part when I tried to unload an impliment from the pole barn. The tractor just went into an endless loop and constantly tried to remove the equipment, then shot across the screen like a bolt of lightening.A pain but funny none the less.

Overall it is pretty disapointing that Bold games didn't take the time to fix alot of the stuff that stunk in the first game and make it more of an adult game rather than a kids game.

24 The Game Review

24 The Game
Average Reviews:

If you've got a PS2 or PS3 and love the TV series 24 with Keifer Sutherland, the 24 game is worth taking a look at. Just know that the game isn't perfect.

First, I'll admit that I am both a big fan of the 24 series and also of Keifer Sutherland. We were too busy to watch the first seasons live, but instead we waited for each one to end and then rented the DVDs for a full-out marathon of watching them. It really helped not to have to wait through commercials or for the next week to come to see what happened. So I'm probably the ideal target audience for a game like this.

I also love shooting games and Bond-style games, so I really was looking forward to playing this. It has the real voices of Keifer and other cast members, and unfolds based on the time between Season 2 and Season 3. It uses the time music style and intro 24 addicts know and love. Your game is broken into "hour long segments" which in reality probably take you 15 minutes or so to play through, depending on your gaming skill.

Unfortunately, gameplay just did not live up to the expectations. The camera was *awful* - there were numerous problems that made the game very frustrating, very quickly. At times you're running along in various terrorist areas, crouching behind cover, jumping over boxes, peering around doors. You might have a few fellow CTU units with you who do basic operations like blowing open doors, but they're rarely any help in a firefight.

The enemies don't show great AI either. It also gets frustrating that an enemy might suddenly decide to surrender while you're in the middle of shooting him - and by the time you've pulled your finger from the trigger, he's already killed by the bullets that were in the air when he surrendered. So you get penalized for his death.

There are also little decoding style puzzles, car driving missions and so on tossed in to keep variety interesting. It figures that none of them are either challenging or fun to play. With all of the thousands of games on the market that nail each of these areas, I wasn't asking for spectacular here - just reasonable. It just wasn't.

It almost seems that they raced this game out quickly in order to get sales and nothing got quite done properly. Which is a real shame, because the series is well loved by millions of people who buy the DVD sets, watch the shows repeatedly and who would LOVE to get this game and replay it to immerse themselves in the world. There is certainly great potential for replayability here, to keep going through a mission over and over to nail the top rating. If the missions were fun, I know I would gladly do that to hear Jack's voice and to be in that world. But with the way things were designed, I'm going to have to wait for a sequel to come out that hopefully spends more time in development.

As a side note, this game does play fine on the PS3.

The Lost Crown: A Ghosthunting Adventure Review

The Lost Crown: A Ghosthunting Adventure
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
= PREFACE =

If you have played DarkFall I: The Journal, or DarkFall II: Lights out, then you don't need to read this review, you have probably bought the game immediately anyway. Yes, the entire game is one mans' job, Jonathan Boakes', and its not just acceptable; it is magnificent!

= SCENARIO =

You are Nigel Danvers and you find yourself limited to an interesting treasure hunt session in a somewhat isolated town called Saxton. Very soon some weird things will begin to happen. Will you survive these horrible events? Will you find your way in hunting down the hidden treasure? You are abount to find out SOON!

= GRAPHICS =

This time it is a 3rd person view, better in my opinion. It is almost full screen, with some space down for inventory (i 'd like titles in inventory items) , and some space up for the "Control Panel" Icon (The author *could* put there some option to quick save/load/quit) The graphics are mostly gray/screen, something that enhances the games mystery
theme, with a few nice drawn color additions. The ghost drawing an animation is very good, PLUS, almost all screens include some very very nice animation. Especially nice is the movement with the night vision of a camera on. Thumbs up and the best animation I 've seen!

P.S. You will be looking for some items in the forest at some point of the game, do not assume that all these items are colored.

= SOUND =

Being a professional musicologist, I have to judge that section stricly, and sound in this game is really good. Mysterious, ghastly and evil sound effects and music will compose a great atmosphere. However I (almost) missed what it hit me in The Journal and Lights Out: The sound isn't actually a part of the game action, it is there for a nice background - you can get the same pleasure by turning the sound off, something that would ruin the Darkfall's atmosphere.
Voices are good and clear.

= CONTROL =

No keyboard. Yes, I don't like that. Everything is mouse-driven, and, although you have a map, you can' move with the map, you have to walk to the locations manually. Also, it is not clear the fact that you don't have entire access to the town at certain points of the game (for example, in night 1, you can't go to a specific location but you don't get a warning message).
Subtitles are provided :)
Go top left and you have a menu which opens Save/Load etc. Only 8 saves ! :(

= ATMOSPHERE =

When a game is a masterpiece, reviewers are cruel. The game's atmosphere is very very good, but I still think that DarkFall I and II (and Darkness Within) is better in that section. There is nothing wrong with Lost Crown, but .... how should I tell? DFs were more evil, more frightening, whereas Lost Crown is more like a mystery than a horror game. This is not bad at all; but when you have played the DFs, you are somewhat expecting to be terrified even more!
It seems that Nigel finds the entire adventure more exciting than frightening... Well perhaps I will change my mind after I replay it a few times, but If I knew that the place I wondered around was haunted and there were evil ghosts everywhere kidnapping cats, I 'd get my a$$ outta there ASAP, not stay and even sleep in it!

= PLOT and RIDDLES =

This is the area in which the battle between this game and DarkFall I and II ends. DFs were very good, but relatively short. This game has a big plot scene (and I MEAN big) and lots of (inventory based, with one or two exceptions) puzzles. Also, because the game limits your access, you don't have to consider wandering around the entire town if you are stuck, so this effectively reduces your frustration. There are no tough puzzles, just a common sense of logic. Yes, this is my small complain, DFs were a lot tougher to finish - but also a lot quicker to finish.

= Vote For =

* Big plot
* Animation in almost all screens
* Great graphics and sounds
* Will run even in lower-end PCs
* No bugs/crashes (Well, don't try to use the walkie talkie at the night after you have used it previously in the day, or suddently the sun will appear again !)
* Subtitles allowed

= Vote Against =* Not scary. No match for DarkFall I, II, Darkness within, Shadow of the comet etc... Perhaps not being scary is an advantage, but I miss it nevertheless.
* Only 8 saves (No comments...)
* No method to bypass the text - very annoying when you make the mistake of asking something that you have already asked. This thing would prevent me to play the game again.
* I don't like the way that Nigel reacts to horror events; For example, I wouldn't be that 'cool' to simulate a call to the spirit as he is in first night; It seems to me that he was already aware to what would happen.
* No keyboard; yes I don't like the mouse. Especially when you have to click some times to save your game. At least, double click works :)

= OVERALL =

A piece of excellence. Get it, its really worth your $. It is a masterpiece, perhaps lacking the actual horror element, but a very fine job nevertheless.

==== [SPOILER] ====

I didn't like the ending. I don't know why, but I never like the endings in most games. Can't anyone ever create a magnificent ending like that in Monkey Island 2 or Laura Bow 1 ?

PS PS2 USB Dual Controller to PC Adapter Converter Review

Instead of the transparent blue pictured, my connector was black. Mine came with no CD with drivers or whatever but it was no real biggie.I have Vista and it plugged right in and worked perfectly.I mainly use it for NES/SNES emulation so I didn't really mess with the rumble or analog sticks, but all the main buttons worked perfectly.

Also, on a whim I plugged it into my PS3 just to see if it would work AND SURE ENOUGH IT DID! Everything worked flawlessly, including rumble and analog! This is huge for cheap PS3 owners who still have PS2 controllers lying around. Instead of schilling out $55 for a second dualshock, buy one of these and you now have 2 "new" PS3 controllers. True you're still tethered to the system like a gaming primitive, but it's a hell of a lot cheaper!

I've only used regular PS2 controllers and it's worked fine. But from reading other reviews it seems there's compatibility issues with some guitar controllers, dance pads, light guns and some third-party controllers. So if you're trying to use it for those and those only, you might want to look elsewhere. It seems some of these controllers have worked for some people. Still, for the price I'd say it's worth the gamble for the simple fact that even if it doesn't work for your specialty controller you can still use the standard issue just fine.

Also note that PS3 compatibility might depend on what PS3 model you have. (I have the 40 gig) It also seems like there are different versions of this item. The item you get might be different then the one I did. So your mileage may vary. But for me it has to be the best $4 I've ever spent in regards to gaming.
