I have got this game, and I love it.After reading the reviews and seeing that they liked it so much,I decided to give it a try.I loved it the minute I heard the opening theme song(which is,by the way,a cool song). These people must have put alot of work to it to make it be a hit. This is my favorite 18 wheels of steel game.Too bad the people didn't put alot of work into 18 wheels of steel Convoy,It was TERRIBLE!I wonder if they will make another 18 wheels of steel game.If they do,I hope they work on it awhile before they put it on the shelves at the stores. This game is #1!

It's a simulator, therefore you gotta know your stuff and really be passionate about this kind of sim to enjoy it. Those looking for quick kills and thrills will most likely get frustrated over the learning curve and discard the game. This is an unofficial add-on for the original Lock-On: Modern Air Combat (a.k.a. LOMAC). It offers an array of improvements over its predecessor and adds a new aircraft. The graphics and realism are fantastic if you have a powerful enough computer. I'm still tinkering with the game and settings but overall I like it.

MotoGP '07 Review

MotoGP '07
Average Reviews:

From the Makers of SBK 2000/2001(PC) and the equally impressive SBK'07 (PS2), Milestone, comes the best iteration of MotoGP thus far.

The handling is very tight and the bikes feel like they have a quite a bit of weight to them while you can really feel the bumps as your suspension's working the tarmac...or is it the other way around? There's very competent AI and hard braking is required to keep up. The graphics, though slightly grainy, feature very good rider/bike models that are nicely animated and the game runs smoothly even with all 21 opponents (yup,Ilmore's alive) on screen. Independently adjustable opponent AI and bike handling characteristics means anyone can dive right on in and work you way up.The only downside, overall, is that there's no 125 or 250 classes.

If you're a MotoGP fan or bike fan in general, then buy without hesitation. Pick up SBK'07 also and you're covered for life.

Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation (Platinum Hits) Review

Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In typical Ace Combat fashion, this title continues to push the envelop of visual realism in flight simulators.

If you have enjoyed previous Ace Combat games you will not be disappointed by Fires of Liberation. If you haven't ever played an Ace Combat this one is certainly a great place to enter the series.

While gameplay is solid as usual and missions vary in style and objective, one can't help but focus on the absolutely stunning visuals.

Ace Combat has always been known for great realism in its aircraft, but in this iteration the developer really put the focus on making the landscapes come to life. I have yet to play a console flight sim that provides such an immersive experience as Ace Combat.

On the other hand, (also typical of the series) the story is a cheesy mess of melodramatic fluff. You'd be better off skipping each cutscene and focusing on the gameplay.

My only real complaint is that level difficulty is inconsistent. One mission will be moderately easy followed immediately by one that is near impossible. Then you're back to easy again. I believe this is due to the fact that Wingman support is utterly useless, which makes any level with a lot of enemy planes that much more challenging.

In one particularly frustrating mission your comrades continually chime in over the radio to let you know that one or more of a dozen enemy fighters has a missile lock on you but they neither attempt to take out your pursuers (cover command) nor attack the target objective (attack my target command) whilst you shake the bogies off your six. There may be "friendly" planes occupying the sky with you but for all intents and purposes they are just spectators. As a side note, the lack of worth of your wingman is evidenced by an achievement you can earn for his taking out a mere ten enemy targets by your command, meanwhile you might eliminate 40-50 targets in a single level.

In the end, Ace Combat 6 is good for 8 or 10 hours of single player fun, not to mention multiplayer action.

Ship Simulator Review

Ship Simulator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Did you ever wonder what it would have been like to sail Titanic into New York harbor? That would be serious business and so is this software. The program features various vessels, along with Titanic all then way down to a 35 footer, participating in missions in four different locations with you in command. The ships respond realistically to engine and rudder commands. I found it to be the closest thing to actually being on the bridge out at sea. Young gamers may not have the patience required to handle these missions in real time, reading charts, minding weather conditions and being ever watchful for other ships in the shipping lanes. The supplied documentation leaves a lot to be desired and is particularly silent on editing missions or creating your own which would be fun if they only bothered to explain how. And the scenarios for the power racing boat are unrealistic to the point of being rediculous, with jumps, requiring speed to accomplish, placed too close to spectator boats. But there are plenty of other pre-programmed missions for the other ships to keep you busy for quite a while. Despite a few shortcomings I do recommend this especially for boating enthusiasts who are house-bound during the winter months on land. Try it, full speed ahead.

Space Shuttle Mission Review

Space Shuttle Mission
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
A superb simulation of the space shuttle and now includes the first Ares launch as an extra viewable mission. This game follows in the footsteps of the original Virgin Games 1992 Shuttle game for the Amiga, PC and Atari although whereas that one had you start a mission rolling to the launch pad, here you start the mission an hour before launch. And unlike that game this one is generally very stable and you can actually finish the last mission!

About 22 shuttle missions are included all of which comprise launch, orbit ops, re-entry and landing. There are lots of buttons to press in complex sequences, switches to select and a lot of patience is required to operate the MRS shuttle arm in space to retrieve and deploy satellites etc. The launch and re-entry are automated but you get control of orbit ops and landing as in the real thing. So this game isnt for everyone. You have to have a passion for spaceflight and lots of patience.

The developer has continued to support the game releasing new missions as time goes on. There is a new version of the game slated for release around December which promises better earth graphics. In fact this is the only reason I gave this game 4 stars and not five, the earth graphics are not all that great - they arent bad but certainly they dont have you looking down on the earth going wow! Except when the sun comes up that is pretty eye catching. The dark side graphics are particularly lame with big splodges of what can only be assumed to be city lights. However the shuttle is very well modelled and so is the ISS, less well modelled are the payloads. Not anything to complain about loudly but again some of the satellites wont have you gasping in appreciation of the detail. The Shuttles are well modelled they havent reflected the variations other than changing their names, this is a minor point.

Faults and errors are not modelled but despite this you can often get a landing wrong (its very demanding landing a gliding brick) or blow up during reentry if you get the attitude wrong, as I did a few times.

You can dock with the ISS in later missions and generally follow its construction. Some of the construction missions are very demanding requiring you to install ISS pieces using only cameras and the very awkward RMS arm although you can cheat and do it all from the external perspective view. You also have other payloads such as the Hubble, as pretty much every important mission is in the game, and the developers say they want to try to cover every mission eventually. Each mission can take you hours even if sped up, but you can reasonably do most within an hour or so as you can jump to the important bits. And you can save and load at any point which is very important. You will find yourself sitting in the cockpit though soaking up the atmosphere waiting for the deorbit burn to commence, or staring at the sunrise for several minutes every mission I can guarantee it.

Cockpit is well modelled - pretty much every switch is modelled and actually does something. You have three difficulty modes to help you get used to things and you can start missions at several points, trying out just landings or orbit ops etc if you want. There are several very neat aspects to the game such as cargo lighting, cameras and other features of the real Shuttle that you can employ if necessary to assist you but arent required to complete the mission. Also being able to see outside from several windows including the lower deck door window, and even see into the virtual cockpit from outside, show a lot of love has gone into the game.

So overall this sim is superb, you can actually follow a real shuttle mission in real time from the -9.00 minutes hold it is so detailed, and the developer even recommends you study the real shuttle manual to get more out of the game. So its recommended for any spaceflight enthusiasts who want to really experience authentic Space Shuttle operations.

Finally I should say that anyone expecting something special in terms of content from this 'Collectors Edition' will be disappointed. You get the disk and the quickstart b&w manual. The installation does however contain all the patches and updates preinstalled up to the present time to save you downloading them (saving you a minor inconvenience). But it doesnt include any printed checklists, nor a full printed manual, no cockpit panel layouts or even a printed keyboard layout in the box. You can get the full manual and checklists off the website but you will have to print them out yourself. In this respect this boxed version is actually little better than getting it as a downloaded version. But at least the box looks quite nice!!

Richard Burns Rally Review

Richard Burns Rally
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
How can I explain... I have tried to define to friends how accurate and realistic the cars handle in this game and how this simulation has achieved a level of excitement and fulfillment that stands apart from all other games, but it is not until they finally come over to drive it that they say"..now I see why you could not explain this!" or as one girl said.. "I could just keep driving...!"

It takes some time to learn to handle the cars well. The included driving school and it's advanced techniques is a must for good stage times. It could actually take years of intense white knuckle fun to master this game.

I have about thirty driving games including all types of racing along with two computers equipped with Force Feedback steering wheels (FF is a must to fully experience this game) Before the arrival of Richard Burns the most realistic and fulfilling for myself and friends continued to be Grand Prix Legends, Nascar Racing 2003, SCC mod for F1 Challenge 99-02.These games along with others keep you coming back and drawing you in for more where others in comparison like the Colin McRae series seem "two dimensional", flat and have canned predicable responses that quickly become boring at best.

The dynamics of Richard Burns cars and tracks are on a whole new level of refinement such that you can really feel the mass of the car change in how it reacts to the suspension at different speeds and angles to the road and road conditions.Get unstable from hitting ruts and potholes at high speeds or bumping a berm on the edge of a fast narrow road.Use the crown of the road to your advantage while hooking your inside tires into the low side of a turn. And, while keeping the gas on at varying levels, use your left foot to work the brake into a turn keeping your power up while throwing the weight of the car forward to loosen the rear grip a little and increase traction on the front tires. Then, power out of your turn in a four wheel drift as you try to focus on what the co-driver is saying as he calls out the turns ahead while you are working the wheel and throttle feverishly trying to get this corner just right.Watch the realistic replay with long hanging dust trails for those one or two corners where you did get it just right and you scream "YES!" in awe of the beauty and fulfillment of a perfectly executed corner. This game is very challenging in the best sense of the word.It is very dimensional and is simply fun to drive at any speed and yet the more you choose to work and focus on increasing the challenge for better stage times, so will increase the depth of deserved satisfaction.

It goes on and on.As you will too into endless captivating hours of amazement and fulfillment.Grand Prix Legends still holds the dearest of places in my heart for what they did to make those classic racers handle in a way that is so sensitive and alive.Richard Burns Rally has just made my heart much bigger!GPL was created in 1998 and six years later still holds a huge following with hundreds of added tracks created by others.I am confident this game will also bring you many years of awe, amazement, and totally immersed enjoyment. I have complete admiration and appreciation for what this team has done in their attention to every detail in getting it right; from the photo realistic graphics to the intricate detailed sounds to the amazingly interactive suspension working in real time over long and highly varied roads and road surfaces.

This game it as pure 10.As pure as it gets.I can truly recommend this to anyone with a computer and graphics card, not just to those already enjoying 3D games and/or racing. If you don't have one, spend the extra $20 as soon as you can for a Wingman Formula Force or similar force feedback wheel on ebay or from here at Amazon to fully unlock what this game has to offer. You can experience and feel the best of racing without having to pay for crashing your car! ...and believe me, you will have many terrific tumbling crashes!

Good luck and the happiest of trails...

RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 Review

RollerCoaster Tycoon 2
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After many of the 'Tycoon' style games that have been popular over the last few years, the reigning king was a simple family style game called Roller Coaster Tycoon. After two successful expansion packs, developer Chris Sawyer waited well over a year to launch Rollercoaster Tycoon 2.The sequel is based on a no brainer..."Build it and they will come".Seeing that the first game and its expansions still sell well, Infogrames already has a large base of built in fans looking for more of the same, but will these fans love '2', and will this attract new fans?Time will tell.
Overall, the look and feel of the game remains relatively the same.A 3D isometric overhead view allows players to build a theme park from scratch and carry it through pre-defined scenarios. These scenarios have conditions such as have a park rating of X by year Y or have X guests by year Y or build N coasters of type T with an excitement factor of X.
The game ships with about 25 scenarios that are grouped in categories of difficulty: easy, advanced, expert, and Real Parks. The website RollercoasterTyccon2.com promises to have future downloadable scenarios, and one major enhancement over the original game is the inclusion of a scenario editor.Players can now create their own parks/games and trade among friends. You can control all variables from size of park, weather, rides available for research and more.
The 'Real Parks' are actual Six Flag parks from around the world that are pretty close to real world counterparts. You can choose to just manage them or alter them at will.
Game enhancements:
1) Park sizes can be double that of the original game and it supports a much higher screen resolution rate.
2) Scenery: All the original scenery from the RCT and its expansions are present as well as new ones including: Pirate, Scary, Medieval, Gears, Wild West, Giant Gardens and more. There are also more fences, water themes, roofs and walls and the ability to stack scenery makes it much easier to create buildings.
3) New rides: Well obviously there are more coasters but also other attractions as well on top of all the originals.
4) Coaster and ride options: There seems to be much more customizations available for coasters including new car types, special banks, queue line options, supports, signs & banners, special track types and more.
5) New shops and stalls: Again, all the originals and more including sun glass hut, ATM's, First Aid station, more food choices.
6) More music options. Many more styles of music can accompany your rides.
7) Coaster construction: Tool here has been revamped and now you can make/test/save/see coasters better than ever.
Now not everything is perfect in this game:
1) Graphics: Even though the screen resolution and park size has increased, the view is still the same as is the graphics engine. While there is more 'eye-candy' per-se, the overall look is still cartoony and has some 'jaggy' issues. Not to mention that hills, waters, mountains still look slightly un-natural as it did in the original.
2) Lack of scenarios that ship. There are only 3 easy scenarios, a handful of advanced, and more expert. This may prove complex for players who never had the first.Hopefully new ones will be available from the official website soon.
3) No major innovations in game play.I'd like to see new objectives, or disasters to overcome, or new behaviors of park guests, mechanics, handymen, mascots...still the same.
The largest adjustment fans of the original will have to make is getting use to the new construction and customization tools. While they have been expanded (a large plus), they have also taken on new 'handling' characteristics which is proving somewhat confusing for me.For old players, it's retraining how to this new interface and sub-menus...lacking in the 1st game. While this new interface does seem to be much more rich and deep, I truly found it wasn't as intuitive as the RCT 1.I was looking for information that seemed to be present in the 1st game easily, now I have to dig to sub-menus I'm not familiar with.
These were some of the reasons I chose o give it 4 stars instead of 5.Something's are just better off simple, not overly complex.

Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Gold Edition Review

Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Gold Edition
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Flight simulation for your PC just doesn't get any better than this.Microsoft has been at this for a long time, and they make it better with every release.

A few things seasoned flight simmers will know that new users will certainly WANT to know are:

The system requirements to really make this software work well are dauntingly advanced. You'll need something approaching a top-level gaming machine, with a huge video card, to get the full benefit of the entire visual, audible, advanced controls experience.Got a laptop you think is pretty smokin'?Forget it.

Microsoft follows every release of this product with massive service packs you must download and install, and each one takes a huge chunk out of your hard drive.Be prepared with LOTS of disk space. This particular release (meaning, the "Gold Edition") includes service packs one and two, so you won't need to download them.

An internet connection is required to register the product.

A note to real pilots (I am also a pilot):Keep in mind that this is a $30 product for a home computer, not a Flight Safety training machine. The flight model is basic and stable, and is not intended to simulate extreme attitudes and emergency procedures. If you're looking for a realistic spin trainer, or a procedural instrument trainer there are expensive add-ons that will get you CLOSE, but you should generally be looking elsewhere.

Bottom line is that this is, hands down, the best of the lot, but you really DO need vast hardware resources to run it.If you own those resources, be prepared for a real-time, audio-visual feast.
