Star Wars Battlefront II Review

Star Wars Battlefront II

Anyone who's a Star Wars junkie will tell you how they've imagined fighting as Darth Vader or Skywalker or Boba Fett would be. Pretty darn great. Star Wars Battlefront 2 not only allows you to do all that - albeit in a pretty short amount of time - but it gives you what the first game didn't. Space dogfights. And can I just say, Boo Ya?

In brief, the game is a blast - though not something you'll be playing all the time. It's a game you have to savor and then let rest for awhile so you won't get tired of it. Although it is a great game, it's repetitive. Shoot shoot shoot, die die die, upgrade, upgrade, upgrade, and after awhile, well, you feel like popping a different disc in. But when you're enjoying yourself and are really getting into it, it's an amazing game. The graphics are much better, though in online play, the same lag erupts like a bad dream. There are far more weapons and vehicles, and best of all, it doesn't take 3 minutes to traverse the landscape anymore.

As for the Jedi Heros coming into play, you can't pick say Darth and run around hacking off your enemies at will. During a point in the game, assuming youve accumulated enough points from killing people and being a hero, blah blah, you will get a prompt asking if you wish to play as the hero of that map. You pick yes, and you respawn as that hero. The only rule from here on now is, yougotta kill as many of the enemy as you can without getting hurt too much. Once you've taken too much damage, the hero will kneel out of the battle and you're back as one of the grunt Clone Troopers or whatever. This goes on until the battle is finished.

This is a great game that gives for lots of enjoyment until you get sick of fragging AI. Then you might want to hop online and frag. Which is fun...unless you tend to die alot. An upgrade from the first one in many ways. A good buy.

Star Wars Clone Wars Adventures: Galactic Passport Review

Being that the Clone Wars is my favorite TV series, I was hyped to hear that there was a clone wars MMO!It would probably be a lot more fun though if our computer wasn't so slow.Anyway, in the clone wars adventures, there are a lot of things you can do even if it's just a free account.Making a character is fun, and meeting a lot of people who are also fans of the clone wars is a lot of fun too.
However, it would be nice if we had a few mini-games where you're out on the front lines running around with your lightsaber or blaster and really shoot some droids. There's this game called Republic Defender where all you do is make turrets and upgrade them, and hope they fire some droids. But the games like Starfighter, Speeder Bike Racing, and Lightsaber Duels are the most fun. It's also cool that this game updates new things every time there's a new clone wars episode (season three is currently airing). It would be nice though if the free players can have access to more uniforms than they allow like Cad Bane and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Anyway, it's a very fun game.Me and my 7-yr old brother loves it!

Star?Wars?Republic?Commando Review

This is a game I've had since it came out originally in 2005, and I keep coming back to it.The action is great, the graphics hold up well, and the squad controls (and the squad members themselves) are brilliant and very easy to use. This game also holds the distinction of being the only shooter I've died in because I was laughing at something (fortunately dying is no big deal since your squad members can resuscitate you...unless they go down too)

As a star wars game, it succeeds brilliantly in capturing a much more in-the-trenches feel of the clone wars than the movies even though it takes us to the same places (geonosis and kashyyyk). This is partially because with one small, green exception there are no jedi in the game, which leaves you and your squad to do all the work without any forcepowered cheating :PThe other thing that bears pointing out is your squadmates themselves.Despite being clones, they all have a unique character and provide a good amount of comic relief, Sev and Scorch especially. They're very much one of the strengths of this game.

There's a technical problem with nvidia 8000 series graphics cards where you have to set the bump mapping to low or the game won't play.Hopefully that'll be fixed in a driver update sometime soon.

The worst thing about the game is the ending leaves it wide open for a sequel...and three years on, no word of one.Delta squad has appeared in the republic commando novel series, so, their future may play out there.Still hoping for Imperial Commando, though :P
