Ice Age 2: The Meltdown Review

We are not heavy gamers but this game was a BLAST for myself and my kids ages 10 & 16 (both are girls). The graphics are great and the game itself was a lot of fun. I'm not sure if a teenage gamer would enjoy it but for us the difficulty was just enough to keep us locked in (we had to look online about 3 times for help). We were sad when we made it to the end!

Dance Dance Revolution Mario Mix Review

First of all, I think this game is great. It's also a great price for the game and an action pad, while most new games cost the same price for the game only.

One of the biggest complaints I read is that the game is too easy.I don't think the game is too easy. The easy level is great for first time DDR players. Also, what I'm sure many people don't realize is that there is a "Super Hard" level above the "Very Hard" level. However to be able to play a song in "Super Hard," you have to play the corresponding "Very Hard" level in Free Mode and get a decent score to be able to unlock the "Super Hard" mode for that song.

Another complaint that I read is that you have to unlock all of the songs. It's very easy to unlock all of the songs, even for a new player. All you have to do is play through the entire story mode once (it can be in easy mode), and also get 4 extra songs at the in-game shops (this can also be done easily in easy mode if you keep repeating the mini games to get a lot of coins).

One thing I do not like is the Mush Mode items (however, you can turn Mush Mode off when playing in Free Mode).Mush Mode makes strange Mario related items come up on the screen, and you have to press the corresponding arrow.I don't like this because sometimes the items are hard to notice against the constant moving background.I also don't like how they force you to read through the story and watch the animation to be able to move on to the next level (in Story Mode). This isn't that big of a deal though.I also wish it was easier and cheaper to get a second action pad.Overall, this is a great game, and I would purchase a sequel if they came out with one.

Go, Diego, Go!: Great Dinosaur Rescue Review

Go, Diego, Go: Great Dinosaur Rescue

I don't usually write reviews, but my 3 year old has so much fun with this game, I had to let other parents know. After about an hour of playing, my son was able to master this game by himself. He is so proud he has a game he can do without help.
This game has great graphics, even on a large screen tv.It gives lots of praise, and is very forgiving if he runs into something (ie, a tree, or log floating in water, etc).It doesn't "kill off" someone and make you restart from somewhere.
Those who love dinosaurs will love this also, as my son is thrilled at the idea of flying on the back of a pterydon, sliding down the back of a bronchiosaurus (sp?), and swimming on the back of a myasaurus. He will play this for over an hour at a time, which is a big deal, and it's great to see him jumping, climbing vines, swimming, digging in sand for tresures, climbing trees to get food for a dinosaur, and etc.
I was afraid it was almost too easy, but he loves it and plays it over and over. Would definitely recommend to anyone not sure what to get a toddler. They also have settings where you can stand behind the child and assist them without them really knowing...in case they start struggling or getting frustrated.Very happy with this purchase!!

Go Diego Go: Safari Rescue Review

Go Diego Go: Safari Rescue

I've been anxious for my 3 year old daughter to play video games as an inside leisure activity when I can't spend direct, continuous time with her.I prefer her actively doing something rather than passively watching a DVD.But the video game options are either poor quality (Leapster) or just too hard for a 3 year old.

This game is really the first game she's been able to pick up easily and also enjoy for more than a few plays. It was made for preschoolers. The controls are pretty easy.Tilt left and right to move Diego, press '2' to jump and other actions, and then a series of Wiimote motions to do things like climb a ladder or hose off Diego. It's fairly repetitive which is a feature for a 3 year old.

It requires some adult supervision to get through the menus and whenever a new event takes place. And occasionally she's get stuck in some spots. But for the most part she can play on her own ("Go away daddy. I don't need help.").I hope Take 2 continues to put out games focused on this age range.
