Master of Orion Review

Master of Orion
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Master of Orion I really set the bar for 4X games.Pick a race (each has its advantages and disadvantages), colonize a section of the galaxy, and fight with your neighbors for more. There's diplomacy, a technology tree, and random events to keep things lively. It really is a game worth spending some time on.

It doesn't run too well on modern Windows operating systems, but does run well in DOSBox, a DOS emulator.

The game is freely downloadable from the Internet, so I'd advise purchasing it here as a desirable option only if you want to round out your collection of MOObilia.

My Sims: Prima Official Game Guide (Prima Official Game Guides) (Prima Official Game Guides) (Prima Official Game Guides) Review

My Sims: Prima Official Game Guide

The Sims is a really fun game, and I play it when I have the chance to.It is a game where you create your own person from their voice to their clothes, and then create your own town by picking who lives in it and remodeling other peoples homes (and building your own). Before you do this though, you have to do a pretty long tutorial before you can play on your own. Also, the Prima Official Game Guide to the Sims is very helpful. It tells you who all the people in the game are, it shows you all the blueprints and tells you how to get them, and it also tells you about all the essences and where to find them. All in all, this is a really good game and I recommend it to anyone who likes building things or doing whatever you want in a game.

Sim Tower: The Vertical Empire Review

Sim Tower: The Vertical Empire
Average Reviews:

Sim Tower is fun to play, but once you get everything set up in your tower, there are not a whole lot of options to add new items. You have to earn stars and you do so by adding in items such as condos, restaurents, and hotel rooms. As you gain stars, you gain more items to add in your hotel such as stores and a movie theater.Once you get so far in the game, or if you run out of money, there is not a whole lot you can do.It is fun to play though, especially if your just looking for a game to play but don't have a lot of time.

Product Description:
Maxis takes their Sim-building line vertical with SimTower, an original concept from Japan (where vertical living is much more commonplace than in many parts of the world). Your goal is to build a skyscraper that is both tall, aethestically pleasing, popular, and, most importantly, economically profitable. To be successful, your building cannot just be levels upon levels of officespace, or just an apartment sky-rise, but a multi-functional haven for humanity featuring everything from penthouses to theatres, restaurants to shopping malls. The centerpiece of your tower design is your elevators and proper managment is the key.You can watch your Sims enter and leave your grand tower, getting impatient waiting for elevators, or having a hectic work day at the office. You can even train in on one or two, to server as a metering stick for their compatriots, or just to peek into the average workday of the little people living in your building. Or watch the security and resuce crews race as distasters like bomb threats and fires rampage through your well-crafted skyscraper.

Grand Theft Auto IV Signature Series Guide (Bradygames Signature Guides) Review

Grand Theft Auto IV Signature Series Guide
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The only reason this guide gets a second star is because this guide does what it's supposed to do.It is quite helpful for getting you through the plot when you're stuck and it does contain detailed maps of the game's many extras. It also lists the Achievements for Xbox 360 and helpful strategies for Multiplayer.

I find the quality of strategy guides in general have gone down in recent years, and this one is no exception.Owners of stategy guides for the previous games in the GTA series (GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas) will be quite disappointed with this one. This strategy guide doesn't contain the expected list of vehicles that previous editions had (no pictures of the vehicles and not even a text list). It is also organized quite poorly. Most of the extras are contained within the Main Story Walkthrough (side missions, girlfriends, etc). You can't look up the extras by category. For example if you want to look up the girlfriends, one is listed on page 19, a couple on page 102, one on page 146, etc.All the other extras are listed in a similar manner.Since most of everything is listed within the Main Story Walkthrough, you always run the risk of seeing plot lines you don't want to see yet.

Assassin's Creed: Prima Official Game Guide (Prima Official Game Guides) Review

Assassin's Creed: Prima Official Game Guide
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I actually bought this guide as a quick add-on purchase to bulk up my order for free shipping!I've never bought game guides before and generally considered them to be a bit of a cop-out.However, I realized that I just wasn't getting enough time to play Assassin's Creed on a regular enough basis and I thought that a guide might help me to "pick up" the game easier after some time away from it.

What I didn't realize was that the Guide would actually improve my enjoyment of the game entirely!

The guide is jam-packed with hints and tips of how to get around some tricky parts of the game, yet doesn't give away too much that it becomes completely unchallenging. The guide helps open up parts of the games and the maps that might otherwise be un-explored.So not only am I enjoying the game more, I'm playing the game on a much deeper level.

SO - about the guide itself. Its quite well layed out, so information is relatively easy to find. However, no index makes searching a little tougher than it needs to be.Thankfully its not too thick, so you can navigate the pages relatively easily. There have been some complaints about the maps not being accurate. There is an update on the website with pdfs of the maps if you need them. But I'm guessing that they updated the print version, because I've yet to see any issues with the maps so far (I'm about half way through the game now). Outside of the maps, the guide is full of information about each district and provides a very informative and fun way to interact with this fantastic game on a deeper level than the casual player.

I recommend it!

Fallout 3: Prima Official Game Guide (Prima Official Game Guides) Review

Fallout 3: Prima Official Game Guide
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I really hope that the publisher of this strategy guide can provide access to digital search.Since Fallout 3 is a very open ended game, the strategy guide has 7 chapters with nearly 500 pages with no INDEX but only a Table of Contents. This makes this guide hard to search for the exact information you need because the side quests are not in sequential order so the guide has to split them into Ch4 and Ch5 in terms of zones on the map.

Chapter 1 teaches you the basics of the system, background settings of the Fallout world, and some stats.Chap 3 tells you all kinds of strategies in detail for the actual main quest including all the conversation selection and consequences after the choice, but the main quest has only less than 1/4 of the entire book pages. The rest of the chapters are side quests. This book while able to provide all the details, it does overwhelm me that i can't even search fast enough to look for a specific small quest from an Index. It's really difficult for me to go through the entire Table of Contents to look for a key term to search for a small side quest.

I really really hope that the publisher should provide us all the access to an electronic search engine so we can find the pages on the guide a lot more efficient, or add an index at the end of the book.

I recommend anyone who has purchased this book to see if you can find any electronic version of the exact book to search for the pages, then go back to this physical book and read it.
