The familiar, fun gameplay is here. You're a kid taking over a farm. The farm is in disrepair and needs help. You start out by weeding the garden, chopping the logs into boards and breaking up rocks. You slowly start growing crops, raising horses and chickens, and making a name for yourself.
You might think this would get boring, but time is running all the time. You have to get food to your animals, play with them, keep your crops watered, get your field cleared, mine for supplies, go into town and chat it up with the local girls.
There are the usual goodies - horse races, other festivals that come on certain days of the year. There are upgrades to your tools and little sprites that help you out with your tasks. You can fall in love with the girl of your dreams and build a life together. With lots of customizable names, from your farm to your dog to your horse, it really begins to feel like your own little world.
The graphics are great, and while it's not a button-mashing extreme, the clock is always ticking so you get a sense that you have to get going with your life in order to feed yourself and your animals. There aren't goals to meet or points to score - there is a farm to tend to and responsibilities to manage. It's a great game for all ages and VERY rewarding.
My one complaint about this game - and keep in mind that this is a HUGELY addictive game for me so I love it - is that it only lets you be a male. Why?? I would LOVE to be a girl on the farm who is dating boys. It can't be THAT hard to switch a few names and pixels. Why am I forced to be a boy? Why can't a girl run a farm?
That being said, it's a ton of fun and well suited for the GBA. Grab a copy - but be warned, you'll be playing it a lot!

(More customer reviews)Hmm, where to start?Well, I'll go ahead and begin by saying that this is basically the girl version of "Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town" that came out awhile ago.The games are very similar with the exception of a few, small additions, and of course, the gender specifications of each game.

In this game, you're a single, white, blonde female running a farm all on your own.If you're a fan of the Harvest Moon series, you know that running a farm is much more fun and exciting than it sounds.There are crops to water, animals to feed, cows to milk, sheep to shear, fish to catch, villagers to befriend and much more. =)

However, this game isn't all work.A lot of fun little extra curriculum activities are also entwined into the plot. There are quite a few competitive festivals in which you often get a prize for winning.Some of these include the Cooking Festival (In which you cook a dish and bring it to Rose Square to be judged); the Cow, Sheep, and Chicken Festivals; the Dog Disk Tournament; and much more.

Befriending the villagers will net you some nifty extras.For example, if you and Won become good friends, he'll allow you to sell stuff to him, which is handy because some items he will buy for a higher price than Zack.That, and he'll buy items that you can't normally sell, such as flowers and things you cook.

Mining is also a very fun experience in this game.Busting rocks with a hammer to get ores and gems... Who could say no to that? =P
Once you build up your stamina and learn to make energy-replenishing dishes, you can go very deep in the mines. (Although I'll admit, it can be VERY annoying trying to find the steps down to the next floor on the levels with huge areas. >_<)But if you have the patience, you can reach as low as level 255.The deeper you go in the mines, the more valuable stuff you'll find.And some things you'll find are very useful such as the Cursed Tools, the Goddess Jewels, and the Teleport Stone.

You can upgrade your farm/house in this version of HM as well, but it doesn't stop there. =DYou also get THREE new houses in addition to the one on your farm!Although they are hard to get...
-Vacation Villa (Have Gotz build it for $100,000,000 X_X)
-Mountain Cottage (Present for your 50th Wedding Anniversary)
-Beach House (Get 42 Connectivity Points with HM: Another Wonderful Life for GameCube.)
So yes, as you can see these are hard to obtain, but I guess it gives the hardcore gamers a goal...

The prospect of marriage is always fun, and in this game you have quite a variety.You have the same guys that were in HM: Back to Nature as well as three new secret ones. ^_^The list is as follows:
-Gray (The junior blacksmith)
-Doctor (The town doctor.Odd how his actual name is never mentioned...)
-Kai (The African American lad who only comes during the Summer.He runs a shop on the beach.)
-Cliff (Cute little homeless guy who moved to Mineral Town recently, it would seem.He stays at the Inn.)
-Rick (Red-headed guy who lives at the Chicken Farm.)
-Won (The weird, Asian dude that sells stuff.He lives with Zack on the beach.)
-Gourmet (The big, fat dude that judges the Cooking Festival. He copied Willy Wonka's clothing style... >_>)
-Kappa (A swamp monster, pretty much, lol.Yep, a genuine Japanese water demon...)

So there you have it.All the cool aspects of the game put into detail.Now for the bad things...

-A LOT of typos.Seriously, it's annoying.The oddest one is after you're married to anyone but Gray, go talk to him.He speaks Japanese. O.o
-Your animals can die. =(I know some people think this is more realistic, but I find it extremely annoying.After you go and win the festivals with them and get their affection all the way up, they die in a few years.(Chickens live for about 3 years before they start dieing.Cows and Sheep live for 4 or 5.Can't remember.)Although you can cheat death by saving before you go to sleep and then loading if they die, since the funerals are always in the morning... =)
-There are some very valuable and useful items that are obtained too late in the game. The Gem of Truth is a pain, and the Teleport Stone can only be gotten after the third year, and even then it's annoying getting to it. (All the way at the bottom on the Spring Mine. >_<)Also, a lot of things are just annoying to get.The Goddess Gem, the Kappa Gem, and the Mythic Tools are the main things.
-The Vacation Villa costs waaaaaay too much. X_X One hundred million gill is FAR too much, IMO.Ten million would've been an adequate price, I think....
-The game can get repetitive, seriously repetitive.Once you've played a few dozen years, you're kind of sitting there going "Why am I still doing this...?" lol But for some reason, you can't put it down.Thankfully there's a lot of things to obtain, keeping you interested for that long.

Well, that's about all I've got.If you do decide to buy the game, I hope you enjoy it. ^_^

Harvest Moon Another Wonderful Life Review

(More customer reviews)This is such a fun game for girls! You start out in the farm all alone. The whole 1st chapter you try to get one of the 3 bachelors to like you by giving them presents and talking to them. In the second chapter you get married to the guy who likes you the most. Here are your choices:
Rock: 22 in the beginning. A young dude who has no life virtues. He cares only for his looks and having fun. Rock is the easiest to marry, but trust me, don't!
Gustafa: 28. A smooth, happy musical guy. He's sort of a hippie. I would suggest him over Rock.
Marlin: 33. I married him and I suggest you would too! In the game he compliments my child and teaches him life-lessons. Marry him!

Whoever you marry you'll have a child. Depending on whom you marry is how he'll act and look. When they're babies they are SO cute! Then in the next chapter they're toddlers, then children, then a teenager! Love him buy giving him things he likes and talking to him often.

Back to you: You spend your 24 minute days by taking care of your *adorable* cows and chickens and goats or sheep. Taking care refers to:
1. Feeding them
2. Talking and petting them daily
3. If cows or goats; milking them

Your chickens and roosters are easier to care for. Just take their eggs and feed them! LOL

You also have an adorable dog you get in the beginning. You can if you want feed him but you don't have to.

Another thing you do during the day is taking care of plants! Plant them and water them. Typical. You can plant anything from potatoes to strawberries. You buy the seeds from another farm in town. Once the plants are grown you can give them away to people in the village, cook with them, sell them or just eat them plain. Yum.

Money: You make money but selling crops, fruits, milk, sheep fur, cheese, butter, rocks and gems found in the digsite, flowers found around the town and mushrooms also found around the town. Twice a month (Harvest moon months witch takes about 1 or 2 hours) a fat rich man named Van (what a wonderful name) comes to town and sells and buys with you. You can sell pretty much anything to him and buy furniture and clothes and whatnot from him.

What to spend your $ on: livestock and buildings them mostly. You can buy clothes and medicines from Van too. Money luckily isn't something you NEED witch I think is great. It's just nice to have.

Pros:
You don't NEED money
You live in a cute, peaceful town with a beach, houses, streams and ponds called Forget-Me-Not Valley
Really nice townspeople who each have different personalities
Pretty good graphics. Beautiful scenery.
The game doesn't take too long and doesn't end too quickly (I've been playing for more than 1 year)
I love the animals! Who would've known how fun it is to farm!
Great storyboard that doesn't get old.
You have a family! It's so much fun to be a mom and wife. ^^

Cons:
Here and there there are small typos (witch really doesn't matter at all)
ummm...... I think that's it!

Ending/Overall/Recap: You start on your own on your fathers farm, you get married have a kid, be a great mom, have fun farming, be friends with other people, fish, cook, and ride your hoarse! Yay that is so much fun =) Throughout the game there are happy suprises. This game is for anyone who is interested in life simulations. Because this is way better than sims+ animal crossing any other life simulation!
RATING: 100%* * * * * five stars most definitely =) plus five more * * * * * buy this game! Yep yep yep good game ^^

(More customer reviews)First off this game really does contian 6 different farm frenzy games, from the original to the newest. This means the concept and play for each and every game is the exact same. However each game has its own unique buildings, animals, locations, and goods to play with. So in that aspect it keeps all 6 games original. All 6 games are windows 7, vista, and XP compatible. For the price $19 you're paying $3.16 for each game, not a bad deal and I see the price has been slashed to $16 which is even better.

For those of you who haven't played any of the farm frenzy games I'll go into a brief description of the gameplay. For those of you who have, feel free to skip this part.
The game essentially is a clicking game. Click to buy animals, click to buy houses, upgrade, water, sell, create goods, and buy goods. Pretty soon you will get cats to pick up the "goods" the animals drop, which reduces the amount of clicking. After you pick up the goods of the animal you can sell them or send them to the appropriate house which will convert it into something else, wool into thread, feathers into hats, etc. All your animals eat grass, so you will have to water frequently, eventually you can upgrade your well to a pump which waters automatically. Bears, lions, etc will pop onto your screen from time to time and knock away your animals until you capture them. If you leave them on the screen in the cage they will break out and possibly destroy or downgrade your buildings as they run away. You can upgrade everything, and sell most anything for the cash to upgrade. Each level is different in its goals and starting supplies. You do not keep the wealth from previous levels, you start with different things each time. Sometimes its a ton of money and no animals, sometimes its all animals and no cash, or a mix of both, or upgraded buildings or a variety of other things. Each game has +50 levels and every level has its own unique goals. Not to mention the different requirements to unlock the new levels. This game keeps you on your toes if you want to meet the required time goals. No there is no time limit, but there are bonuses for achieving the level goals in the predefined amount of time. Those bonuses allow you make nessecary upgrades to progress to the higher levels. Otherwise you might end up replaying a couple levels until you gather enough points to make the upgrades. Would this be a good game for kids(10 and under)? Yes, the graphics are bright and friendly, there's no violence, and no time limit, if they can operate a mouse then they can play this game. Although I'm sure this game is intended for 10 and up, there are no 'skill' restrictions that would prevent a 5 year old from completing the game (granted it might take awhile). The games are quite fun and offer endless hours of enjoyment. Plus with unlockables, time goals, and different strategies required to achieve those goals the replayability is high.

This game also comes with 3 bonus trial versions of upcoming farm frenzy games that have an hour of playtime (each).

Have yet to install on multiple computers. Plan on trying that soon to make sure this game isn't loaded with any DRMs. Will post an edit once I know.

CONS:
--Same genre and style for all 6 games, meaning the games will all play the same way, which will probably get old fast.
--Basic game, no depth, no complexity (a good way to pass time in other words)
--Narrow age range for enjoyment
> Kids under 4 will like the sounds but probably lack the required means to accomplish anything
> Teens are going to want something more solid
> Adults (you will get bored fast)
> there are exceptions to these rules obviously, but I'm speaking in general
