This is the best tennis game I have played thus far. The game, first of all, is error-free. No graphic glitches, and no bad reflection of the rules of the game. For that, you have to hand it to Virtua Tennis. They have done a great job. Top Spin 2 was a major mess. This one reflects the reality of the game perfectly. You hear the sound of tennis balls hitting the racket, which is the way it is supposed to sound. In top spin, the sound was more like that of a stone hitting a wall.

The number 1 and number 2 players are not in the same draw! Thank God for that, because Top-Spin screwed things up there too. And ball boys are picking up the ball, not just running to the other side (as they do in Top Spin 2). Now, some people have complained in the playstation version that 2 games in a match is a poor reflection of the game. That is absolute nonsense. First of all, you need to go through 3 seasons of the amateur tour and four more seasons of the pro-tour to become number one. If Sega also made you play an entire set and two-three sets per match, you will be 70 years old before you become number 1 in the game (considering you are 20 now).

So, that is the really annoying part of the game. It takes way too long before you make your player get to the number 1 spot. The amateur tour was totally unnecessary. But the graphics are breathtaking, rules are greatly reflected and the game is near perfect. They could have prevented players from wearing colors at Wimbledon. That is a disappointment. But, that is not a major issue for a video game. So, I'm not too disappointed. A lot of players look alike, so the player creation was reflected poorly. That part is also disappointing. And Safina, Juan Martin Del Potro and a few other notable players were left out of the game, which was a big mistake. The idea of unlocking secret players named "Duke" and "King" is stupid really, because there is no tennis player called Duke or King. I expected to unlock former legends like Sampras or Agassi. But still, I say 4 stars overall for the game. Frankly, if Tennis Masters Series got only 4 stars from me, this is not getting five stars merely because of the presence of grand slam events. Tennis Masters beats this game on many levels still. I also say 4 for fun because of the unusually long and unrealistic career system.

I rank this game the best in Tennis so far along with Tennis Masers series. As far as graphics and certain other things are concerned, Tennis Masters Series would still beat Virtua Tennis. But, at least Sega tried its best in bringing out a good tennis game. Kudos to them on that. This game is worth buying if you are a tennis fan (male or female).
