(More customer reviews)Okay, here it goes. Petz 5 is by far the best of all the other Petz Cd's!
The breedz are wonderful, especially my little German Shephard puppy named Rochelle. Here are the names of all the new breedz (sorry if I'm missing any) German Shephard, Pappilion, Golden Retriever, Jack Russell, and Pug. I haven't got Catz 5 yet, but I here there is some wonderful new breedz in that game too.
There are over 100 new toys you can win and find in playscenes (you store all of them in the Supply Case) The mini-games can be challenging, but sooner or later you'll win them. My favorite game so far is Rock-Paper-Scissors. Other people might find the mini-games childish, but even my grandma loves them.
There are tons of new clothes too. In some Playscenes, there is even a Host Character (for example, Jolly Roger, a full-grown Bulldog comes out to play with your dogz in South Seas Island) Some people have been spreading rumors that you don't need to feed your dogz on Petz 5. NOT TRUE!!! In fact, there's even a medicine bottle where you can apply medicine to your pet's food and water if they are sick.
If your petz run away, you can go to the Adoption Center and check out the brown bulletin board to see if anyone has found your pet. If there is a note saying your pet has been found you are given one more chance to give your dog/cat a good life.
I give this game five stars, two thumbs up, and four paws up.

the Sims 2 Pets has a lot more creativity. You can really achieve a lot in this game.
Not only can your pets get jobs to earn more income for you, you are also making a family very happy
when you create a pet. I love also being able to meet other animals in the neighborhood. You can adopt strays

(More customer reviews)This game is really entertaining. The "voices" of the cats and dogs on the computer are simply realistic; and there is no need for a pooper-scooper! The best thing is, you can take care of your pet, leave on a vacation for a few days, start up the program, and the game will not go on without you! And better yet, there is no allergy, or cat fur, or smelly doggy breath aorund the house. Really well done. My daughter loves it.

Pet Pals: Animal Doctor Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this game at Target, in desperation: I needed a Mac game to entertain my 7 year old while on vacation, with no time to do any research or to wait for an order. I looked at it skeptically; my daughter begged. I hoped the award seal on the box was a good sign.

I quite like it. We played it together for many hours, following the guidance to help a variety of animals: dogs, cats, a turtle, a fish, an iguana, a rabbit, and even a tarantula. It's a good learning experience, and it engaged my daughter in thoughtful problem solving rather than leaving her frustrated and grumpy. Even though I'm fairly experienced with animal care, I found it interesting to play as well. There's a fair amount of reading to do, using real veterinary words, so it's a little over her head on her own. I had to read some of the case notes to her, but I enjoyed it and I expect with just a little more time, she'll be more familiar with the vocabulary andconfident enough to read it herself. She needs more reading practice, and she's highly interested in following along.

The game does a good job of being matter-of-fact and professional, asking you to select the three most pertinent, professional questions to ask, handling injections, rectal temperatures, and stool samples with a minimum of fuss. It will present the cases with info on the normal pulse and temperature for that species, then ask the doctor if a particular reading is high, low, or normal. The cases seem well chosen to help educate about the care of the various species and to help compare and contrast appropriate care for different animals. We had a rabbit with a hairball, and we learned that rabbits cannot vomit, that hairballs are life-threatening, and that rabbits are poor surgical candidates. We removed an abcess from an iguana in minor surgery, which was just the right amount of 'icky' to help get the feel of the real thing.

We played the game a mac running Mac OS X 10.5.2, without any system glitches. We did encounter some program bugs when shaving a surgical candidate - on one dog we were told to "shave the abdomen" and no matter how hard we tried, we couldn't get it to actually shave the abdomen. We went ahead and scrubbed and injected anyway. We lost some points, but we were able to continue. So far we've put about 6 hours of game play time and there's still a lot to explore.

The program takes about 15 minutes to install, but once installed, you don't need to insert the CDs to play - something I really appreciate rather than expecting a child to handle the CDs (or having to take them on trips).

I've been looking for good games in this age range, and I've been disappointed more often than not. This one is a winner.

Pet Pals: New Leash on Life Review

(More customer reviews)I worked for the Humane Society and having seen all the great adult pets who have been abandoned or born homeless, it is great to see a game that tackles the importance of pet adoption and makes it as fun for the player as it was when I worked there. I wanted to be a veterinarian when I was growing up and now my niece shares my love for animals, so I got her this game. I was wonderfully surprised to find that this game has included the usually overlooked message of pet adoptions (and for donating a portion of the proceeds to the Humane Society). The game is a solid vet sim and although it does get a little text heavy at times, it has a more complete and satisfying feel when you get to also provide the animals with a loving family to go home with. Kudos to Legacy for this!
