Dave Mirra 2: Freestyle BMX Review

My favorite PS2 game so far!Mirra 2 is definitely the best extreme game yet.The incredible size of the levels is amazing. With the awesome trick system and all the challenges it keeps you coming back for more in a big way. There's also a Park Editor which lets you create any kind of level you want.I've spent hours and hours making my own levels--it's like a game in itself!Another cool thing is the riders have both competition gear (helmets, pads, etc.) and street clothing.Another really cool thing is one of the multiplayer games is a contest to see who can wipe out the worst. It's hilarious watching your guy get run over by trains and cars and even golf carts!
I'm gonna be playing this game for a long time.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 Review

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4

I've been a Tony Hawk Pro Skater fan for years, every game seems to get better than the last and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 is no exception, the addition of the spine transfer is genious, it allows for much more interesting lines and combo's than ever before. I find myself playing this game almost every day, the goals are much harder than Tony Hawk 3 and also alot more fun. unfortunately the PC version has many flaws that make me almost wish i haden't purchased it. in the bigger levels like san fransisco and kona i get alot of lag (im running a 2.5 ghz system w/128mb geforce T1-4200 w/8x agp and 1gb of ddr ram) even on the lowest setting 640 x 480 i experience it. the only way to get rid of it is to use distance fog which makes finding the skate and combo letters nearly impossible, not to mention distance fog is just plain sucky. setting the spin and switch buttons can't be done because you are forced to have them be shared as 1 button and this can't be changed.
Online play is the worst, you have to download and login to use gamespy arcade instead of how thps3 was where you had a lobby built into the game. so your constantly starting and shutting down your game just so you can find a decent room with people to skate with... not cool at all. the least they could have done was have a "skip intro" option like 3 did. oh and did i mention you can't kick people from your game if your the host? so if you find you have a cheater in your game (which will happen in the future) your forced to play with them.
To sum it all up the game itself is fun but has very little replay value once you finish all the goals due to the ... online play. ...

Skate Review

A new series, walking into the mouth of a lion, skate is one of the most innovative and fresh games in the genera.A new control scheme paired with amazingly detailed graphics and challenging game play make for a sure buy if you're a fan of any extreme game series.

First and foremost, if you have a obsessive personality or are a perfectionist stay away from this game, because you'll not be getting any sleep. For everyone else the new flickit controls have a very hard learning curve, but after 15 minutes you should get the hang of it.A few problems with the controls plague this game, its super frustrating to hit the tiniest bump and have your skater turn around in the opposite direction but this is minor in a sea full of awesome.

The story doesn't have a lot of variety but what it does have is entertaining and enough to keep you going to the end.

Overall a solid game with room for great improvement that will leave it on the top of the ramp compared to everything else in the long run.Go pick this up if you've enjoyed other skating games, or if you want to try something new that will leave you having great times for a long time.

Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam Review

Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam
Average Reviews:

My 5-year old is obsessed with the Hawkman, and so this was one of our first games for the Wii.I was a bit nervous because I've found past Tony Hawk games tricky for me, let alone for him, to master.

Imagine my delight when we started playing this. It's just outright fun: the characters are funny, the maps are cool with lots of different paths and shortcuts, the music is pretty sweet, and the gameplay is downright addictive. And best of all, my son picked it up lickety split.Heck, it's taken months of playing it before I've managed to get half as good as him at the trick courses!

It's the simplicity of the controls that makes this a perfect game when you don't want to cramp your hands or brain trying to remember some convoluted button sequence to do JUST the right move in JUST the right place at JUST the right time. And the difficulty ramps up perfectly, opening up courses of increasing difficulty and length as you go.

I've read some lousy reviews of this from magazines and critics.Glad to see some real-world players giving this game the props it deserves.Bring on Downhill Jam 2!

Skate It Review

Skate It

I purchased this game earlier today and must say that I cannot stop playing it.I have used it with the Wii Fit board and can say that the designers must have spent a lot of time configuring it.For any skateboarders this game is extremely intuitive and mimics tricks done on real skateboards. The missions get considerably harder as time goes on and as with real skateboarding, you cannot expect to get everything at once.

The graphics are reminiscent of Thrasher Skate and Destroy for PS1, but considering this is a Wii game, it looks great. As with all skateboarding games, there are many pros and real life sponsors to help with your look and deck in the game.

I would highly recommend this game to anybody who is interested. As with many Wii games, you can only blame yourself when you don't land that nollie 360 flip, as it is your fancy footwork (or not so) that is controlling your character.9/10
