Namco strikes again, with another amusing, rather gimmicky title for the DS.

By "gimmicky," I'm not implying that it's a bad thing -- the gimmick in Point Blank DS is that it's a light gun game without, oh, you know, a light gun -- just that the idea itself, while interesting and quite fun, is not one to stand the test of longevity.

If you liked Warioware: Touched!, you might like this. There are 40 stages where you do the same thing over and over -- tap the screen frentically, trying to hit certain targets while avoiding others. The presentation is quintessentially Point Blank, with odd sprites and music and fonts bombarding you right from the start.

At first, the game might seem a bit too simplistic -- the gameplay options are less than fantastic -- but if you give it at least thirty minutes, you'll be hooked.

Granted, this game won't last you a long time, so after that initial hurdle, you're likely to play it for five to ten minutes every other time you play it. There's not much to do. Just tap, tap, tap.

So, despite it being slightly shallow and, yes, pointless (ha ha), it's fun for quickshot gaming sessions. Pick it up (preferably for like $20) if you think you might enjoy this, because chances are, you will.
