Resident Evil 3 Nemesis Review

Resident Evil 3: Nemisis is a most enjoyable and thoroughly terrifying game. If you love a good scare, along with a really fun game to play, this is your ticket! Although you don't have to have played any of the previousResident Evil games to enjoy this, it would help. In any event, thescenario puts you into the heart of a town, Racoon City, being overrun withflesh eating zombies, ghastly mutated monsters and a big nasty killingmachine by the name of Nemisis, all of whom have one thing on their minds:Kill you and make it very bloody and painful. Luckily, you, playing underthe characters of Jill Valentine and Carlos, in respective portions of thegame, come armed with some heavy duty firepower and the ability to outrunall of your attackers, even Nemisis if you're smart enough. This gamedoesn't shortchange you when it comes to horror; you will have the williesafter playing this. I certainly did. It also delivers the goods on the gorefactor too, so if you're squeamish, better to stay away, or look away atleast when you open fire on the walking dead. There are also puzzles totease your brain, as well as a good storyline worthy of a major motionpicture. George Romero, director of the Night of the Living Dead, alongwith it's two sequels, would be proud of this zombie fest. On the downside, most of my complaints are with the storyline, more then anything else. InResident Evil 2, certain things were explained and you understood thesinister greed behind the Umbrella Company's virus that turns people intozombies. Here, there doesn't seem to be much motivation behind a team ofcommandos, of which Carlos is one, for entering the fray. Also, thecharacter of Nemisis himself is never explained, as no mention is made ofwhere he comes from or why he's obsessed with killing the remainingS.T.A.R.S. rescue team, of which Jill is one. In Resident Evil 2, you foundout that the behemoth who kept popping up to kill you at certain points wasactually a scientist who injected himself with the G-virus. No such motivehere for Nemesis, but in the grand scheme of this game, it's a minor flaw. So, if you're wondering if you should invest in this game or not, I sayYES! Fire up your Playstation, Lock and load, try not to get eaten, and ifyou get really scared, leave the lights on when you play this!Welcome tothe world of survival horror...

This game seems to capture the most adorable qualities of each and every pet. I've worked with our local Humane Society for several years, so I am a little critical when I see games with animals. The stunning realism and character of these animals is astounding.Their expressions and actions convey a sense of genuine personality. As for the games, I think each one of my daughters friends has a different favorite. The puppy treat toss game seems to be their overall fave. As for the Amazon.com review, it said their were only 8 missions; we have found 15 different rescue scenerios so far, with even more rescue variations. I don't think the tester used the e-mail for new rescues. In summation, if you have a young girl on your Christmas list, this game is a must.

Everquest 2: Kingdom of Sky Expansion Pack Review

Everquest 2: Kingdom of Sky Expansion Pack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Kingdom of Sky is the second expansion for Everquest 2, and while it's not perfect, and many of the changes take getting used to, I like it.While some other games will possible release a near-perfect expansion in the future, how long will it take for them to release it?In the meantime, we have more content, an increased level cap, and some needed changes.

The Good:
1. More content. The new content is stellar.I love the views from the sky, and while I haven't been able to get into a lot of the content, what I've seen so far has been top notch, expanding the mythos of Everquest 2 plausibly.

2. The Tradeskill Changes.I definitely like the fact that even at lower levels you can craft useable items without going through iterations of making the smallest part for an item- they still have those too, but the other items give a good balance to make tradeskilling seem less tedious, and it appears that the use of skills against progress in tradeskill has been made more uniform- I see less of the endless periods of -50s with no chance to counter them on items that match your level.

3. The Harvesting Changes.I love the fact that you can actually tell with almost a certainty what you will get from a harvest point, instead of it being totally random.Imagine- you get coffee beans from a coffee bean bush!Who would have thought?

4. The New Class System.I liked the idea behind the branching class trees, but given that your city allegiance indicated in most cases what you were by 10th level, the implementation left a lot to be desired. If they were not going to change this, then a unique experience for each character was highly more desireable than the generic approach that levels 1-10 had become.

The OK:

1. Alternate Adventure XPs.They approximate talents in WoW, and I like the fact that they exist, and like the fact that you don't automatically get AA XPs.I like the abilities themselves, but I like the implementation of the trees in WoW better- these appear too static and linear for my tastes.

The Bad:

1. The Server merges: There are too many people on servers waiting for the same instanced monster to spawn.I've experienced very little lag, but waiting for monsters to spawn really sucks.

2. Broken Brokers: I was preparing one of my alts for Betrayal, and couldn't buy anything. My crafter couldn't sell anything. And there was no communication from SOE on the exact problem, except one little posting by an apparently insignificant member of SOE.Thank you for that little information.I hope SOE can learn from your skills at communication.

3. PvP servers full.I could already tell from their proposed 'plan' that this was going to happen. One Station Exchange and one normal server? For all of North America?Right. Can anyone say short-sighted?

The Ugly:
1. Broken quests because of changes.Test your existing quests before rolling out changes. Please! In the just annoying case, I completed an element of my profession quest only to find out that the quest giver would not speak to me, and I can't finish it.In the worst case, you had my level 17+ doing a betrayal quest and sending him to talk to not one, not two, but three NPCs in places guarded by level 25+ guards that were still aggro to him.If I had to sneak in and grab something, that's fine. But it ruins immersion to have to talk to people from across the room so that guards don't immediately attack you. Please!

In conclusion, I agree that this expansion is not perfect. But I can say that at least SOE is releasing something rather than just promises of an expansion- I'd rather have something solid that needs a few tweaks than waiting for perfect software.

Freespace / Silent Threat Bundle (Jewel Case) Review

Freespace / Silent Threat Bundle
Average Reviews:

First of all, if I could, I would give this game a 4 1/2 star rating. If your looking for a space sim game that has good graphics and game play this is the one for you.One thing I happily discovered was the range of skill levels. If you're a [not-so-skilled] gamer that can never manage to win a game without cheat codes, this is a great game.If you're a skilled gamer who is looking for a challenge this is still the game to buy.
Another cool thing about this game is the fact that you aren't a one man army.Your wingmen are actually a great resourse. You can tell them what to doand they'll actually do it.
The variety from mission to mission is also excellent. In some missions your job is to destroy the enemy, in some it's to escort ships, in some it's to spy on the enemy etc.
The graphics are sweet too. This is an old game but you can't tell by the graphics.
You can choose between 5 or 6 ships to fly on different missions andyou can customise them with different weapons.
This game is at an increadible value... It is deffinately worth buying.

Warriors Orochi 2 Review

Warriors Orochi 2
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I like Warriors Orochi(here now abbreviated WO), and when a sequel... an ACTUAL sequel, was expected to show in the states, I had to bide my time. Now released, this game is a solid story carry-over. Listen up.

PROS:
+Soul Caliberesque Fighting mode, A Versus mode, a special character-specific Dream mode, and a much larger artwork and character gallery.
+Warrior's Orochi 2 shoots directly from the prequel. If you have previous data from the first, all the first abilities of EVERY character will be unlocked.
+Horses are SIGNIFICANTLY faster and actually make or break a rescue.
+Great for low self-esteem folks as your friendly commanders can't seem to stop praising how awesome and powerful you are =P
+Much more fluid and refined motions for all units.
+NEW COSTUMES to unlock during character advancement
+More aggressive A.I. and friendly officers can hold their own in a 1-on-1.
+More weapon customization. You locate treasure by adhering to specific battle requirements and combine them with spare weapons to create benefits to character abilities(like True Musou, One-time revival upon death, use of special abilities without restrictions).
+More story-driven chaos and Orochi's own reconquest story-line.

CONS:The bad could be set aside as trivial but some I note are:
-An occasional slow-down due the sheer number of enemies.
-Too much talking about achievements slow down in game sequences.
-Leaders in groups of 5, look the same, and thus cannot be made to retreat so hastily.
-You will be saving your officers many times due to the A.I. picking out your weaker and smaller armies. They will gang up on anyone for an advantage.
-You will need your horse more than you know.

The cons aren't really cons. More like warnings when you play, Warrior's Orochi 2 has actually different warfare than WO1. You will see many archers for instance, and peons will use charge attacks in turns.

This game is so good. I can't recommend enough if you played the first Warriors Orochi. An actual story that is continued from the prequel... its about time!

Toshiba / Samsung TS-H943 Replacement DVD Disc Drive for Xbox 360 Review

Toshiba / Samsung TS-H943 Replacement DVD Disc Drive for Xbox 360

To everyone that's buying this and it only reads movies etc but does not play games. YOU HAVE TWO OPTIONS. Either you can flash the firmware for the circuit board inside the new drive , OR you can do the easier task and just take the circuit board out of your old drive and swap it with the one in your new drive. Then there is no need to flash. Just make sure you keep your old drive and take it apart and get the board disconnected from it. Once you take off the four screws and remove the cover on the old CD ROM Drive , the green PC board is right there. There is like 4 ribbon cables to remove and then its a direct replacement and fit into your new drive. Remember you have to also take out the green board in your new drive and swap it with the one in your old drive so you will have one worthless pc board from this new drive that you can not use. If you choose to flash the new board with the same coding from your old drive then it will give you two usable green boards so you will have a spare from your old drive. The mechanical parts on these cd roms are whats failing , not the pc boards inside them. Its much easier to swap the green boards than it is to flash IMO. The reason you change the boards is because the green board from your old cd rom drive has a coded serial key thats unique to your xbox360. Thats why this cd rom without the green board changed only plays movies and not games until you do this.

If your Xbox 360 has problem loading disks or giving you error messages, it probably comes from a defective lens. Relative to the same infamous problem from the Original XBOX.
