Capcom vs SNK 2 Review

Capcom vs SNK 2
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
One of the best 2D fighting games ever finally comes to the Playstation 2. Capcom vs. SNK 2 is the sequel to another great fighting game, with more characters, grooves and much more. All the characters from the first game are back plus the addition Rock Howard, Joe Higashi, Haohmaru, Kyosuke, Dan, Eagle, Maki etc. and the evil versions of certain characters ( Evil Ryu, Blood Iori, Shin Akuma and Ultimate Rugal). The graphics are excellent and control is top notch. The backgrounds are 3D and very nice and a few characters make cameo appearances ( The London Stage has Billy Kane from Fatal Fury and Dudley from Street Fighter 3). There are also pre-fight intros with certain characters just before each fight ( Joe vs. Mai, Kim vs. Chang, Hibiki vs. Rolento pus many more). Any who is a fan of the Street Fighter and King Of Fighters series will absolutely love this game. Hopefully when they make Capcom vs. SNK 3 they'll add whole bunch of new characters like Batsu, Roy and Daigo from Rival Schools, Genjuro, Sieger and Basara from Samurai Shodown, Haggar from Final Fight, Andy B., Wolfgang K. from Fatal Fury and a whole lot more.

Metal Slug Anthology Review

Metal Slug Anthology
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After numerous delays, SNK has finally brought the Metal Slug Anthology to the PS2. This game has already been out for a few months on the Wii and for about a month on the Sony PSP, but the PS2 version is the best version to get of this game.

Think of Metal Slug as Contra on steroids/crack and you'll have a proper understanding of what all of these games are about. For the most part, you run to the right side of the screen laying waste to everything in your past while rescuing hostages and sometimes getting access to vehicles called Metal Slugs to cause even more damage. Most of the game is spent running and shooting, but they also spice things up with some shooter type segments in which you're in a flying vehicle of some sort (and at one point a small submarine type thing).

Basically, you get all 7 proper Metal Slug games on one disc (well, really 6 as Metal Slug X was a re-working of part 2 that fixed most of the extreme slow down problems of Metal Slug 2), all are emulated almost perfectly from the original SNK Neo-Geo system ROM's.The only slight downside is that there is some in game loading when you finish one area of a level and are heading to the next area. The game will pause for about 1 to 3 seconds (though the music will keep going) while the game loads the next area. While some purists will decry this and say that it ruins the game, it only breaks up the breakneck pace just the very slightest and was kind of unavoidable.

The games are slightly letterboxed with black bars on the left & right side of the TV screen to approximate the original arcade screen size.

As for the games themselves, I found them to be arcade perfect ports all the way disregarding the slight load times. Some people are upset that they didn't just put the PS2 ports of 3, 4, and 5 that have already been out for the PS2either in the states or Japan on this collection instead of emulating the original arcade ROM's, but I think that these emulations do a much better job of preserving every single frame of animation as well as the proper arcade feel of the original Neo-Geo titles. There is some slow down at times, but this was present in the original games and can actually help out in hectic parts at times.

The animation is the most important thing of Metal Slug games and since these are great emulations of the original ROM's, nothing is missing in this regard. The sound/music is also duplicate flawlessly. The Metal Slug games have always had great music anyway.

Some people have complained that there is a lag in the controls at times, but I've played through all 7 games and found that the control is dead on.

The first Metal Slug feels a little more sluggish compared to the rest of the games, but that's more due to how they chose to animate your character when you turn from left to right as well as jumping.Never did I die as a result of some lag time in the controls, everything just felt right in that regard.

Probably the best part of this collection is the fact that Metal Slug 6 (which is a fairly recent game) has been included on this game. I would say that next to part 3 (which was ported to the US X-Box but not the US PS2), it's the best game of the series by far.

Extras include unlockable art galleries when you beat each game, you can listen to the music of each game and there's a text interviewwith some of the original game developers about the Metal Slug series.

They could have maybe included some of the combat school extras from the Neo Geo CD versions of 1 & 2, but you really can't complain too much.

Each game takes around 45 to 60 minutes to beat, which might not be seen as much, but these are more of old school games in which the point was a quick burst of pure pick-up-and-play gameplay. But when you combine all 7 of these in one package for only 40 dollars, you can't beat it for pure adrenaline pumping fun.

The PS2 version corrects most of the errors of the PSP and Wii versions as well as minimizing the in game load times.

Highly recommended!

Samurai Shodown V Review

Samurai Shodown V
Average Reviews:

Anyone who has played Samusrai Showdown III will know what my review title means. You can't have a real Samurai Showdown video game without the French Femme Fatale.
Anyway, some people may be a little angry that the controls in this game no not match that of the first game. Personally, I like the new set-up. Three slashes and one kick may not make sense, but it's effective. What I don't like is that when you change the button settings in the game, the moves list in the pause-screen menu becomes less helpful: for example, when I changed fierce slahs from trigger L to button A, the list still told me that to execute Charlotte's projectile attack (it had a name, but I can't remember) I still had to end the button combination with either X, Y, or L. This isn't very bothersome if you know all the moves by heart ... I can almost see you Samurai Showdown enthusiasts shaking your heads! Not everyone has played thist series inside out!!
Anyway, the online play would be much better if there were others who played the game. Unfortunately, you'll usually find yourself waiting a long time for an opponent if you create a match or you'll just get the game's error message if you go into quickmatch or optimatch. This is a problem: there are a lot of Samurai Showdown fans and there are a lot of XBox owners, but there are apparently not a lot of Samurai Showdown fans who own XBoxes and have XBox Live. If you want to know if this game is compatible with 360, you'll have to look at another review or ask Microsoft because I don't know. I'm sorry if this review is not helpful. Please vote accordingly so I'll know for sure. If this review is unhelpful, I need not take up valuable space on this website and will delete this review.

just like the other metal slug games but new weapons, new enemies, new characters, and new vehicles. Basically all it is is part 7 from the DS version but on the PSP with the same options. It is much like the arcade version with the animated blood which lacks on the DS version, and has better graphics than the DS version. I recommend you buy the PSP version instead of the DS version its much better.

Metal Slug XX for PlayStation Portable (PSP) is the new addition to the beloved Metal Slug series that captures all the glory of the arcade experience and more. In it classic Metal Slug characters, as well as two from the King of Fighters series return to take on General Morden and his new and improved Rebel Army. Features include classic 2D gameplay, 70 unlockable missions, co-op multiplayer wireless support, the original Main Mission Story mode and a new Combat School ranking system.

Story
Thanks to the reconstruction proceeding at a miraculous pace, the scars of destruction to the thoroughly destroyed headquarters of the regular army and its surrounding city were becoming less and less noticeable. But just then, a video transmission arrives at HQ. Discovered in the clip is a brief flash of a figure appearing to be one of Morden's soldiers. HQ swiftly organizes a six-man covert strike force assigned with the following objectives: confirm the presence of Morden's forces, and eliminate them-with extreme prejudice. Marco, Tarma, Eri, and Fio are quickly assembled as the initial members for this mission. Ralf and Clark, who had previously thrown in their lots with Marco and company, are also soon on board. So begins our heroes infiltration of Garbage Island, perhaps the final lair of Morden's Forces. But will this be the last gasp of the dreaded General Donald Morden? We shall see.

SNK's long running King of Fighters series makes a return to it's 2-D roots with King of Fighters XI, and be glad that it has.3 on 3 tag team fighting is the name of the game here, as KOF XI is nearly arcade perfect in it's conversion to the PS2, so don't let the budget price fool you when questioning the quality of the game. The fighting system is surprisingly deep and varied, and the large roster of fighters from other SNK titles like Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting is nicely selected as well. The graphics are fluidly animated for the most part despite some moments of choppiness, and controls are pretty tight for the most part as well, even though tagging in isn't always as easy as it sounds. There are also a nice selection of bonuses to unlock, including extra characters, character endings, and artwork as well, which up's the overall replayability, and as mentioned before, the budget price doesn't hurt one bit either. If you're not into old school 2-D fighting though, KOF XI won't win you over. All in all, if you're a fan of the King of Fighters series or old school 2-D fighting in general, King of Fighters XI is definitely worth picking up, and the fact that it won't hurt your wallet only makes the deal all the sweeter.

Metal Slug 4 & 5 Review

Metal Slug 4 & 5
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Metal Slug series is a new spin on "Contra Clone" games, although in many gamers' opinions the Metal Slug series is actually a lot better than Contra. The last game to be released on XBOX was Metal Slug 3, a fantastic game. Now come the next two.

In MS3, the emphasis of the game was placed on the fun of the sheer weirdness found in the game. Yetis, zombies, a monkey with an uzi, and even the ability to become obese gave the game tons of appeal because it was both funny and enjoyable to play. Although a bit overpriced at $40, it was the best game in the series, so I didn't complain. MS 4 and 5 are extremely similar to each other, but are two games, and are thus a better value than the previous foray into the Metal Slug world.

There is a lot less interest in these games. You cannot be fat, there's no monkey helper, and most of the enemies you'll be fighting will be nothing more than ordinary troops. However, to make up for this, the battles in this game are qite a bit more frantic and bloody than MS3's. These games are far more action packed than 3, even if they are a little less interesting.

In terms of new stuff, apart from new stages, there isn't much. MS4 introduces the ability to weild 2 heavy machine guns at once for double the firepower, and MS5 lets you slide on the ground to avoid enemy fire. These additions dont add much to the overall package, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Some might scoff at the 2 dimensional graphics. Most people, like me, are willing to give a game a chance as long as its fun to play. If you are one of these purist types, this game is not for you. If you are a wimp who cannot play games with any modicum of difficulty, this game is not for you. It is hard. However, if you care more about having a total blast without having to shell out quarters every time you die, you're gonna have a lot of fun blowing the crap out of swarms of goofy looking soldiers, monsters, and vehicles. There is no shortage of either weapons or enemies, and I can't really think of a point where either of the games got boring for me.

If you aren't sure about you tastes, rent this one first. If you bought MS3 and liked it, just buy it. Thats all there really is to say about this incredible pair. Have fun.

Metal Slug 4 and 5 (2 Pack) Review

Metal Slug 4 and 5
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
With this combo pack, you get two separate DVDs with two separate games on them. One is Metal Slug 4, and the second is the sequel, Metal Slug 5.

First, it's important to remember that neither of these games are "current". They're old school. That means you're playing side scrollers with blocky graphics. It's actually amazing how well they could do design work with those blocks of shape and color! The sounds are also pretty basic, but do a good job of drawing you into the action.

In Metal Slug 4, you move along the path as one of four heroes, blasting away at enemies with guns, grenades, flamethrowers and more. In Metal Slug 5, you also get 4 characters to choose from. In both cases the choices are 2 girls or 2 guys, which is pretty amazing for "ancient gaming" :)

The graphics are slightly improved in Metal Slug 5, and you get some new enemies, but really it's a continuation of the same gameplay and graphic style.

Because these were arcade games, you get a "continue" when you die, meaning you can just restart there and keep going. You don't even have to pump in quarters! We were able to blast through Metal Slug 4 in 45 minutes, and Metal Slug 5 in 30 minutes. In the arcade, the test was to do it all in one long swoop, not to burn $1000 in quarters with continues. So if you really want to test your skills, tell yourself not to use continues. Restart from the beginning, try again and see how well you do. That will help you really tune your reflexes and give you a longer lasting thrill out of playing.

Not an epic storytelling by any stretch of the imagination, but a fun way to mindlessly burn off stress after a rough day at work or school!

King of Fighters 2006 Review

King of Fighters 2006
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The next addition to the king of fighters series.... is it a hit? Hell yeah it is. The original 3d hit: King of fighters Maximum Impact was a great addition to the King of Fighters series. SNK took one of the best 2d fighting series and puts it in to 3 dimensions with 3d character models and 3d backgrounds. The King of Fighters 2006 takes this engine, and gives it a work out. The fight system is extremely fast pasted, which is a little different from the 2d King of Fighters games, which have always been slow. The game makes a big emphasis on using combos and special moves. This game, unlike many other 3d fighters, is not a button masher. Meaning, I cannot just hit X over and over, and win the round. The AI is not the best I have played with, but playing it on hard was tough as nails. Sometimes I think the game knows what moves I am going to be dishing out. Even while playing on easy, I am not able to win fights using only projectiles. The AI has been upgraded significantly from MI.
A huge addition to this game is a Counter System. Hit L2 while standing to counter high attacks, or while crouched to counter low attacks. These will basically, block and stun the enemy unit for a split second allowing you just enough time to attack him. I did not find myself using it very much, since the game is so fast paced, it is extremely hard to counter and attack. Overall the battle system works great. You can fight using just combination attacks, special moves, or a mixture of both.
A total of 38 characters to choose, from most of which you have to unlock along with over 15 costumes per characters, make each fight different. The addition of Billy Kane and Kula brought back some of the best characters to tournament. Some of the unlockable characters are characters with a very identical move set. You can unlock Wild Wolf, who is Terry Bogard from Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves. They decided yet again not to add some of the most important characters from the KOF series: Andy Bogard and King.
Gameplay: Very few times I run into frame rate issues, other than that the game runs smooth as silk, and very easy control scheme.
Graphics: The backgrounds are some of the best backgrounds I have seen on ps2 fighting games. It seems the focus for the characters was the clothing and the hair. Their faces and bodies could have been worked on a little more, but the character movements are classic, and realistic.
Online: How much I would have wanted online play, there is no online play, but there are many verses modes.
Overall: This is one of the best additions to the series, and shows that SNK can make a fighting game that critics can compare to bigger titles such as Tekken and Virtua Fighter. King of Fighters Fans will love this game to death.
Rating: 9/10

SNK Playmore has been releasing budget priced compilation discs on the PS2 of their various franchises for a while now, and SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 continues the tradition. The first thing you'll notice is that, finally, SNK has changed up the menu screen, and added goals to each of the 16 games that when completed will unlock new features and extras.Featured here in this collection are titles found on previous collections like the first installments of Art of Fighting, World Heroes, Metal Slug, and Fatal Fury; but there are some real gems to be found here as well.Baseball Stars 2, King of the Monsters, King of Fighters '94, Samurai Shodown, Last Resort, Top Hunter, and Shock Troopers are all wonderful experiences that make this compilation worth picking up alone. Some games aren't all that special, like Burning Fight, while others are decent enough like Super Sidekicks 3 and Sengoku. That being said, you won't find any bad games in this collection, but what really hurts it are some technical issues.Shock Troopers and King of the Monsters specifically suffer from some very noticable slowdown, while Art of Fighting, Fatal Fury, World Heroes, and Sengoku feature archaic controls that show the age of the games.Flaws aside though, you can't beat what you get with SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1: 16 games ranging from decent to great, a nice list of unlockables, and an ultra-budget price tag.All in all, if you're an SNK fan, you already know this collection is a must own.

Metal Slug 7 Review

Metal Slug 7
Average Reviews:

At first I really had my doubts about the quality of this game because SNK Playmore chose not to make an arcade version first.Arcades are great quality-assurance mechanisms because machines are expensive and they need to be fun enough that people will continue to put money in them.

I'm pleasantly surprised to find that not only is this game great, but I would say it is the best Metal Slug since 3.This takes the refreshing mechanics of Metal Slug 6 and adds excellent, always fun level design and fantastic bosses.

Naysayers will be quick to point out that the graphics are grainy because of down scaling and the backgrounds are uninspired.Personally, I stopped noticing or caring about the graininess 10 minutes into the game. They're certainly not bad enough to impact how fun it is.

SNK Playmore has restored my faith in them with this game.I would even go as far to say that it's my favorite game of the year.

Metal Slug Advance Review

Metal Slug Advance
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Metal Slug Advance is the best possible realization of SNK's run-and-shoot series on the GBA. It is a technical marvel; the rich, over-exaggerated animation that made the series stand out in arcades is achieved with vastly inferior hardware. This portable entry in the series suffers only rare slowdown and a few lost frames of animation.

While the game looks like the early arcade entries, the gameplay is modified to fit a handheld. A health bar replaces the arcade's one-hit death system. The arcade versions of Metal Slug can be conquered in less than an hour given a few pockets full of quarters. (Or a PC capable of emulating the hardware.) Metal Slug Advance addresses the inherent brevity of their rich worlds with an adroit card collection system. Cards are hidden throughout the game worlds. Most of the cards are trinkets, but others provide benefits like increasing the armor for your vehicles or doubling your ammo supply for a weapon. The catch is that in order to keep the cards you collect in a level, you must complete that level without continuing. For the first time in the series I'm forced to consider the best approach to surviving levels and I end up appreciating the game mechanics more than my virtual quarter-munching practices allowed before. Less obsessive-compulsive players can abandon card collecting and leverage an infinite number of continues to power through the game, but the benefits from the power-up cards can make an aggressively challenging experience more approachable.

There are small aggravations that reveal some shortcomings in the design. While the health bar is a welcome addition, falling into a pit still causes an automatic death; it feels a bit unfair when you're "juggled" into a pit after being hit by an enemy attack. The frequency that the enemies respawn can be quite troubling when you're dodging enemy attacks by moving to the left and right, only to re-introduce defeated enemies as you scroll the screen. Without careful play, you can end up facing a never ending barrage of foes in some areas.

Metal Slug Advance does not stray far from familiar ground, but it is the only handheld version of the series that approaches the wacky, chaotic bliss that imbues the arcade editions. SNK demonstrated with the Neo Geo Pocket Color that it understands handheld game design at least as well as Nintendo. Metal Slug Advance is their first title on Nintendo hardware to continue that legacy.

King of Fighters 98: Ultimate Match Review

King of Fighters 98: Ultimate Match
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
1998: SNK releases King of Fighters 98: The Slugfest for the Neo*Geo. The 5th game in the series & has been a fan favorite since.

2008: SNK Playmore (successor company to SNK) releases King of Fighters 98: The Ultimate Match for the Taito Type X (arcade hardware). A PS2 version was released months later in Japan.

And now it's finally released in North America. So what's the different between this & the original game (which is in here as well)? They are:

9 new fighters that wasn't in the original game (the KoF 96 boss team, Kasumi, Eiji, Goenitz, Orochi, as well as Iori & Leona in their Riot of the Blood form), meaning that every fighter that appeared in 94 & throughout the Orochi Saga (95-97) are here. There are also new extra versions of King, Blue Mary, Geese, and Ryuji Yamazaki. King is based on her Art of Fighting 2 counterpart while the rest are hybrids of their appearances throughout the Real Bout Fatal Fury series. The returning fighters have been tweaked to give the game more balance with some given new moves.

In terms of game play, Extra & Advance Mode have also been mortified. The former's POW meter has been shorten (but it won't get any shorter when you lose a fighter unlike in the original game.) & it fills up quicker. There's also a new mode: Ultimate Mode which allows you to customize features from both Extra & Advance modes. Also unlike in the original game, any owned stock will be transferred to the next fighter. A big plus as you no longer have to worry about losing some & all your stock when you get K.O.ed.

Also, Omega Rugal's not the only final boss you can go up against. Depending on how well you play, you can also go up against Goenitz (& going up against the KoF 96 Boss Team prior) or Orochi (& fighting the Orochi Team prior).

The PS2 version has lots of choices for the solo gamer (it's still best to play with a friend) from Endless Survival, & Challenge Mode (with 30 different challenges). As previouslymentioned, the original King of Fighters 98's in here as well, which I think is based on the AES versionas there`s a vs. mode, survivor mode & you could even play as Omega Rugal too! Also there's no real loading & it lacks the audio miscues that exists in the PS2 Orochi Collection version.

I only have two issues with this game. One is the graphics. While the stages are very nice (& there's more of them here than in the original game & you can set them up in 2D or 3D), the sprites look like they haven't been mortified in years, if not over a decade. Nonetheless, this ain't Capcom Fighting Evolution! The other issue is the fact that there are no real endings. Even the intro to Omega Rugal & his ending scene when you beat him in the original game are omitted here.

Despite this, the Ultimate Match takes the original King of Fighters 98 game & makes it even better. In reality, it also makes the recently released King of Fighters Collection- The Orochi Saga somewhat obsolete as you'll getting the best elements of the first 4 games rolled up into this one. Plus, at $20, this is a steal. Add in unlockablies like hidden fighters, artwork, & game play video & you got a game that's a must for fans of the series, or 2-D fighters in general. With this out, & Samurai Shodown Anthologycoming out soon, how about bringing the recently released-in Japan, King of Fighters 2002: Unlimited Match to North America?

In addition to the game, you'll be getting a poster & a bonus CD. It's a data disc, so you'll need a PC to access it. It has wallpapers & a couple of trailers for this game & the upcoming King of Fighters XII.

The Metal Slug anthology is a great addition to your PSP library. 10 years after these Neo-Geo games had their arcade runs, they're now available to own on one PSP disc!

The gameplay is simplistic - just run and shoot everything and everyone that gets in your way. There's no complex backstory to follow, but with games like this, there's no need: just choose your character and let the shooting begin!

This anthology comes with the following games:

Metal Slug
Metal Slug 2
Metal Slug X
Metal Slug 3
Metal Slug 4
Metal Slug 5
Metal Slug 6

Now the best part of any game is the replay value, right? Well, there's plenty of unlockables in this compilation designed to keep you coming back even after you conquer each of the seven Metal Slug games.

When you complete a Metal Slug game, you get a reward:

Completing a game on easy gives you 3 tokens.
Completing a game on normal gives you 4 tokens.
Completing a game on hard gives you 5 tokens.

With these tokens, you can unlock content to download right to your PSP and transfer to your Playstation 3 or your PC!

Unlockable content includes:

(1) Metal Slug Wallpapers & Desktop Themes
(2) Metal Slug Art Galleries
(3) Music from the Metal Slug series
(4) An interview with the Metal Slug original development team!

+ Pros:

+ 7 games at a very reasonable price.
+ High replay value.
+ Saveable progress within EACH Metal Slug game.
+ Allows selection of infinite continues for novice players.
+ Ad Hoc mode allows dual player games by connecting PSP's wirelessly.

- Cons:

- Load times diminish battery life.
- Unable to start another game at the "Game Over" screen.
- Lag times when too many characters are on-screen.

The Metal Slug anthology is perfect for those business trips or road trips - you deserve some good old-fashioned fun on your PSP.

Enjoy!

Product Description:
In 1996 an arcade legend was born with the release of Metal Slug: Super Vehicle 001. The military-style themes, and a side-scrolling platform mixed with a wacky sense of humor and hilarious cartoon style, proved extremely popular to a decidedly wide audience. Based on this success, seven more Metal Slug sequels would be developed and released. Ten years later, The Metal Slug game play and popularity are still going strong. To celebrate, the creators of the Metal Slug Anthology stopped at nothing to provide a 2D, side scrolling compilation for the PSP that is perfectly compatible with all the great game play possibilities that the PSP has to offer.

Rather than write a long review about Metal Slug Anthology for the Nintendo Wii. I decided to give a simple pros and cons review. I hope this review is easy for you to read and understand.Pro.
*7 Metal Slugs games in one (Metal Slug 1, 2, X, 3, 4, 5, 6).
*Metal Slugs fans finally get a chance to play Metal Slugs 6 (The arcade game was available to play in Japan but not here in the USA).
*6 unique, odd, and interesting ways to play Metal Slug Anthology for the Nintendo Wii including the uses of the Nintendo GameCube Controller.
*You can play Metal Slug Anthology anytime you want so no more bringing a butt load of quarters to the arcade plus if you prefer a real challenge you can turn off the Unlimited Continue options and go for the Limited Continues option. (Easy-30 Credits, Normal-20 Credits, and finally Hard-10 Credits. Good luck for those who choose hard mode.)
*Rapid Fire Mode-No more button mashing (You can turn this feature off if you like in options menu or the pause menu.)

With all the good things I just wrote about Metal Slug Anthology for the Nintendo Wii now come the bad things.

Con.
*Annoying loading time between levels. (Don't worry the loading time only last for about a few seconds)
*Out of the 6 ways to play Metal Slug Anthology only 3 seem useful. The other 3 seem useless. (Nunchuk mode should be dubbed lazy mode, Tilt Wii Remote mode and Arcade mode are very difficult and almost impossible to play because you have to hold the Wii Remote up or on it side and tilt the Wii Remote Up, Down, Left, and Right.)
*Depending on which way you play Metal Slug Anthology (not counting the GameCube Controller option.) you have to flick the controller to throw grenades. (which can be a pain sometimes)
*Metal Slug Anthology won't support the Wii Classics Controller. (Come on Nintendo and SNK. A game like this has Classics Controller writing all over it.)
*If you are using the Wii Remote or Nunchuk and you have the Rapid Fire Mode on be very careful because if you are in any slug vehicles and you push the jump button while rapid fire mode is on the game will think you activated the metal slug attack thus you lose your slug vehicles easily especially when you are in a tight spot. ( In case if you are wondering the metal slug attack happen when you push the jump & fire button and the same time thus killing any enemies and enemies vehicles along the way.)

Overall I still recommend Metal Slug Anthology to anyone. Especially those who are looking for some good old 2-D shooter games.

Samurai Shodown Anthology Review

Samurai Shodown Anthology
Average Reviews:

This compilation of the classic Samurai Shodown series delivers, it was definitely worth the wait. The game starts off with a decent intro showcasing clips of all games included, I-VI. The main menu has the option for arcade mode and training mode for I-V and there is a separate icon for VI...and you will see why as soon as you play it. You will want to use either a classic controller or an arcade stick to enjoy this, the controls are fully customizable for every game. The original samurai shodown is a true classic, the gameplay still holds up today and the graphics are still pleasing. Samurai Shodown II adds a few more characters and takes away others, the ability to break your opponent's weapon is a nice addition...and the animal suits. Shodown III-V are all great, the graphics improve as the series goes on and new characters are introduced throughout. All of the games look excellent and display in 480p, the traditional Japanese music adds to the mystical samurai appeal of the games. Fans of the series and newcomer's alike will no doubt enjoy playing I-V...but VI is on a completely different level in my opinion. VI is absolutely loaded with characters, everyone from the series is represented. The sprites are a higher resolution and the 3D backgrounds are gorgeous. There are many different customizable fighting styles, this is one of the deepest fighting games I have ever come across. It's a simple as you want it to be or as complicated as you could handle with varying levels in between, replay value out the whazoo. Practice mode, a complicated goal oriented survival mode, color and spirit edit modes and a gallery mode full of unlockable content. All in all I don't think I could ask for a better compilation than this, it's worth it for VI alone and the rest of the games are excellent. You can adjust the difficulty as well, these games are fairly difficult so you might need to ease into it if you aren't familiar with the series. Any hardcore 2D fighting fan will love this collection...and no, the games are not censored. These collections tend to have a limited release so grab a copy while you can, you won't regret it.
