Metroid Prime Hunters Review

I bought this game a couple days ago, and after getting familiar with it, I can finally write a review.

Graphics - Let's face it, the ds isn't known for it's graphical quality, especially when it comes to 3D.But these graphics are great. They aren't as good as todays standard consoles, but I don't recall any N64 or Playstation game looking this good.Best out there right now for the DS so I give it a 5/5.Control - Control with the stylus takes a while to get used to, but once you get the hang of it it's a lot like using the mouse for a computer. If your left handed don't worry because they have a special setting made special for you guys.If you still can't get use to the stylus then you can use the buttons for aiming. 4.5/5Sound - If you've heard the music from the original metroid prime then you've heard the music to this game.Sometimes can be very intense to build up suspense of what's going to happen.4/5Replay Value - Just like the other metroid prime games, you have a log book.Playing through the first time, you can ignore this, but filling it up to 100% can be a challenge. You also have energy and missle expansions.Single Player mode is pretty short though.

As for the Online, this is an excellent feature. There's a battle mode and you can chose from any of the character's you have beaten. This can provide for hours of fun.You can also create friends and rivals who you can compete with in 7 different forms of battle. You can also text and voice chat with your friends which was unbelievably clear.I could understand every word when I tried this.(with Online) 5/5

Fun Quality - I personally got bored with the previous metroid prime games with the gamecube, but for some reason this one is different.Maybe it's the online maybe it's the two screens and touch screen, I don't know, but i think what it is is that it's more action orientated and I love action.5/5

Buy or Not - I haven't always liked shooter games like this, but I really enjoyed this one.I would reccomend to BUY.

Overall Score4.7 / 5 (9.4/10)

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes Review

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

I remember when the hype for the first Gamecube Metroid was buzzing. All the talk about the fps mode, all the sneers and the scowls regarding not actually being able to see Samus...and then the game came out.And maybe I'm just looking in the wrong circles, but I haven't met a single person who disliked the first Metroid Prime. It was, for all intents and purposes, a perfect game.

From what I've played of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (I'm a little stuck at 9% in the Agon Wastes, and gamefaqs doesn't have anything up yet), I can definitely say its much of that same excellence with a little more added on for good measure.Once again, the most impressive aspect of the game seems to be the environments.Best example I've seen so far is the lightening that pours from the sky in the Wastes...lightening which can actually hurt you in the off chance that it does hit you.And the array of new enemies doesn't hurt the overall look of the game. But the real outstanding feature are the light and dark worlds, which are the "echoes" referenced in the title.

Reminescent of Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past, every environment has its mirror image. The difference is that Aether's other half has a little bit of a goth complex, and as a result the enemies there are not only darker, but stronger. The environment is inhospitable to even Miss Aran, who is forced to hop from Luminoth beacon to beacon to minimize time in the miasma.Such is the life of a bounty hunter. And honestly, it gets a little irritating, but that's probably my biggest complaint.I will also agree with EGM's Shane that the plot seems like more of a Rare-style fetch quest than the average Metroid game, and nowhere near the incredible Metroid: Fusion plot.As for multiplayer, the experience hasn't been amazing.Fun for a while, as most multiplayer games are, but if you don't have a full group of people, you're going to get bored pretty quick.

But look on the bright side. The cinemas are brilliant, better than the first game (especially when Dark Samus gets into the fray).I wish I could provide feedback on a final boss and an ending, but I've still got some ways to go, and with a game like this, I gotta be honest...I wanna take my time and enjoy this.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Review

Let me start off by saying- hands down, this is one of the best video games i've ever played! I've been playing games for over 20 years, and have played all the greats on all the systems. Metroid Prime 3 deserves a spot along with the best of the best. This game literally changes the playing field for first-person shooters / adventures. The control is unbelievably precise, you can aim perfectly and naturally with the wiimote. After playing Metroid on Wii it's actually hard to use the dual analog controllers again, they feel so stiff and imprecise. There's fantastic motion-based controls as well, like thrusting the nunchuck forward and then back to rip the shield of enemies with your grapple beam. Graphically, Metroid 3 sets a new standard on the Wii, it's by far the best looking game on the system. The graphics are so good in fact, they almost give games on my 360 a run for their money. The art design is superb, from the aliens to the level design. Puzzles and power-ups are top notch, you even get to use Samus' ship for the first time ever. There are many worlds and locations to explore, each with distinctive characteristics, and beautiful graphics. The boss battles are some of the best i've ever played, you have to work hard to figure out their weakness and beat them, and it's just so gratifying. All of this wouldn't work without the superb controls, which i really can't emphasive enough. The aiming is spot-on, wherever you point, Samus aims and fires. The other thing that really sets this game apart is the gameplay- way more thinking is required than average first-person shooters. Besides blasting bad guys, you truly have to explore the many worlds and solve puzzles, which is the epitome of all Metroid games, and lots of fun. It's never tedious or frustrating though, you can always access a logbook to see current objectives, or even get hints if your desperate. I could go on and on about how great this game is, but you get the idea. Metroid Prime 3 is a true masterpiece, and is an absolute must-buy for any self-respecting Wii owner. In my humble opinion, this is one of the best games of all-time.

You ARE Samus with Wii control! By moving around with the Nunchuk and aiming Samus's gun with the Wii Remote, you'll do more than look through the eyes of Samus-you'll experience a quantum leap in first-person control. Fire on the run, grapple enemies and yank off their shields, or manipulate machinery with movements of the Nunchuk and Wii Remote-it all adds up to a level of immersion only possible on the Nintendo Wii, and the best first-person controls on any platform, period. **Corruption is everywhere... Dark Samus, Samus's longtime nemesis, is corrupting entire planets by launching enormous seeds called Leviathans into them. Samus must travel to multiple planets-each with unique alien landscapes and dangers-to fight the corruption and track several other bounty hunters, all the while fighting the spreading Phazon that threatens to take over her body completely. As it corrupts her, it also grants her incredible powers...**Enter Hypermode! Samus will employ a never-before-used device called a Phazon Enhancement Device (P.E.D) that harnesses the Phazon within her and puts her into a state called Hypermode. In Hypermode, Samus can destroy Phazon impediments and annihilate enemies with superpowered weapons...but it drains her health to use it, and she risks utter corruption if she doesn't empty her Phazon meter within a certain time frame. You'll need to carefully balance your need for ultimate power with the inherent danger of corruption.

Metroid Prime Review

I had the priviledge of playing a couple of hours of Metroid Prime, and I liked what I saw.
The game began with Samus on an outside platform. Thousands of asteroids were flying across the sky, and she could go to a clear spot on the platform and shoot them. Ultimately, however, she needed to search her surroundings for hidden devices that would open the doors of the structure. The adventure doesn't really begin until Samus enters the building.
This game has all kinds of terrain to explore--including some very Turok-esque jungles. These are huge places.I have no idea how long it will take people to finish the game, but I'm betting better than 60 hours.
Seen through Samus's visor, Metroid Prime is every bit as much about exploration and puzzle solving as it is about shooting. Samus's visor includes a window that exposes hidden signs and symbols. Once you uncover these clues, it is up to you to figure out how to arrange them to unlock door and find hidden items.
Metroid Prime's camera shifts to the third-person perspective when Samus curls up in a ball and rolls places. She rolls through tunnels that are otherwise too small to explore. By placing explosives on the ground, she can bounce her balled-up self to reach elevated tunnels.
The game also has these really nifty half-pipe areas.Once you find the right explosives, you can launch Samus over the top of the half-pipes to reach otherwise inaccessible ledges.
Per past Metroid games, Metroid Prime has plenty of creepy vermin to kill.
Thanks to the first-person perspective, Metroid Prime does not suffer the irritating camera problems that have plagued so many of the latest 3D games. You are inside Samus's helmet, so you see what she sees. Better look quickly, though. When the action gets going, outer space thingies will come at you from all directions.
The art direction in this game is excellent beyond belief. I doubt that any PlayStation 2 game will ever reach this level of graphic quality. This even rivals Halo--and that is saying a lot.
The big complaint about Metroid Prime is that played from the first-person perspective, it cannot possibly have the same search-and-explore feel as earlier games--particularly Super Metroid for the Super Nintendo. This was a fair concern--but Nintendo guards its franchises carefully and Retro Studios has been true to the original vision. Metroid Prime does have that perfect blend of explore and shoot.
Actually, for those of you who play PC games, Metroid Prime feels a little--and I did say a little--like System Shock II from Looking Glass. If you played System Shock II as a naval officer instead of a spy or a marine, it was about exploring and setting traps and hacking into systems.
The weakness in this comparison is that the navy guy in System Shock II could not strap on anti-gravity boots or swing across ceilings--Samus does. System Shock II was brilliant in its sci fi reality and its feeling of danger. Metroid Prime has a more powerful fantasy element.
I, obviously, have not had the chance to finish the game, but I love this game. I absoultely love it.
